>think to myself that revision might be worth a try
>achieving stable 60fps isn't apparently possible according to the devs

What the actual fuck were they thinking? The maker of this mod should be beaten and ridiculed. Especially so for having the audacity to make a steam page.

15 fps is enough, and even thats overkill. The human eye can only see 6fps

you likely have two eyes tho, so you need 12

      >playing a 15 year old game at anything other than 1000+fps.

Fucking baffles me how gmdx can handle it no problem and vanilla runs so fast it goes super speed. But somehow revision runs like a turd. I refuse to play anything at 30 fps, let alone a fucking game this old.

Especially late 90s 3D PC games were all able to run at way higher frame rates than 60fps. Downgrading this is a fucking joke and you should never touch a mod like this.

Ok so i redownloaded the mod and i was wrong about the renderer, culprit in performance was actually the modified map that is included in revision
Framerate is actually fucking terrible comparing to original and im not even gonna try to defend it

        >somehow
        >the map
people already figured this out. All of the elaborate new level geometry is done with something like model geometry or whatever you're not supposed to do

DX11 Renderer that comes with revision has more graphical bells and whistles than original but since its on old game its just unoptimized and requires more hardware power, if you can't run it as it is you always can type in preferences in console and turn some of these settings off for stable 60 frames.

      Anonymous

Tried the directx11 renderer and it still couldn't achieve anything higher than 45fps with revision. No amount of fucking with the advanced settings helps. And I have a ryzen 9 5900hx and a fucking godanm rtx 3070, there is zero excuse. Zero. This mod should burn in a holy fire when even the devs themselves can't manage 60fps.

      >but just play it at 30fps capped anon

How about you mcfuckin have a nice day.

Also, it doesn't come with the directx11 renderer, you have to download that manually online and patch it in, tard.

Revision ran fine for me, whereas Liberty Island is the laggiest map in the original and will drop frames in many scenarios (the easiest being flying above the map).

    yep
you start the game and right away you're greeted with sub 60fps if you look in the statue's direction because UE1 is single threaded and these fucking retards pushed it too far

the core game engine can't do high frames on the first level, it's just too big. once you get to about hell's kitchen onwards the performance is a lot better, regardless of which mods you use

    >Everyone in this thread complains about not getting stable fps
Meanwhile, I play this game on 120fps. There are a few framedrops here and there, but the experience is smooth. I dont get whats the issue here

Thats the vanilla map, OP is complaining about modified one that is packaged with Revision.

I see. I havent tried the revision map because it ruins the original game's image. I guess the fps drops are happening because there are more assets put in the maps that the engine can handle. Only tapping into game's source code might fix that thing. In my opinion the definitive way to play Deus Ex is with hq textures and the original models. Revisited Deus Ex models suck

If you desecrate DX with anything more than texture/resolution/key mapping mods, you should be beheaded on streets.

The levels being different makes it fun for a replay of the game (with some maps being completely different and fleshed out). It doesn’t need any appeal beyond that.

The revision is strictly for people that have played deus ex a few times and are into the idea of an alternate deus ex to keep things mentally interesting and novel. It's something I would recommend for a first-timer

    >What's the appeal

The appeal of Revision was that it would overhaul the graphics a bit to make the game a bit easier on the eyes. The problem is that instead of looking like a game from 2000, it now just looks like a game from 2003, so it doesn't really please anyone who wanted better graphics. Anyone who liked the original doesn't think that the levels all need changing around, so in all it ends up being quite pointless

Revision is shit even outside the performance issues. GMDX, however, is the premium way of playing Deus Ex today.
