There is no special variation of glypids on magma core anon, and they dont have any defensive buffs or debuffs against any of drillers weapons. The only biomes that have special glyphid variations are REZ and Glacial Strata

Except flame ammo efficiency is like a quarter of a well played cryo. Cryo is the most ammo efficient way to kill many of the tougher bugs while giving up none of its efficiency on swarms. Flame drillers can't even kill praetorians at all, at least not without going through a quarter or more of their ammo on each one.
Scout really is the most fun class to play. Zipping around with that grappling hook is just too good. Inferior classes like the driller engie and gunner with his pathetic zipline (lmao) can only kneel and seethe from the ground as i fly through the caves.

I used to be diehard fan of Proximity mines, but once i tried plasma i literally never went back.
It actually happened with most of my Engie habits. Good o'le Warthog with Turret whip got replaced for TEMD or ECR, Fatboy got replaced by Feedback Loop or VIR.
Lost interest in the old and rusty, but i kind of miss those missions where i frantically spammed my turrets to blow up bugs, and inatanctly vaporized a wave with 1 nuclear shot from my trusty grenade launcher.
My stubby is my weakpoint damage hose, I find it works very well as a general use weapon. The shotgun usually overkills things too much for me when I can be a stingy ammo israelite and just zap a weak bug to death or go whole hog on a strong one.

Not really on either point. It doesn't really have any better synergy than the flamethrower with the microwave, and using the microwave severely hinders your ability to kill praetorians, which is your most important role as a cryo driller. Cryo + Heavy Hitter EPC is best.
As cryo you should not be soloing huge single targets that much. Anything frozen gets instantly destroyed by a few rounds from any teammate. Anything small than a prae dies to temperature change with the microwave making it extremely ammo efficient. If you need to kill something alone you have a power attack or axes (which you can even bank for later by throwing into a wall if you have had your team around you and you need more ammo) both of which deal massive damage to any frozen target.
You can kill everything yourself. EPC/axes for praes/oppressors, also menaces, breeders, spawners, and spitballers, drills/epc for swarms. Straight cryo for mactera. The only things that are an issue (besides bots) are bulks and shellbacks.
Since S2 I've mostly quit driller because bots suck, but MOST missions they still aren't going to be an issue.

Consider that built for maximum ammo, a charged shot hits a frozen glyphid for 240 damage. You can get a little more damage/ammo efficiency building for max damage instead, but overkill becomes an even bigger issue. Compare to Heavy Hitter where every individual projectile does 120 vs frozen, no need to charge and you can spam as needed.
In terms of actual damage per max ammo, heavy hitter 1/2/3/2/2 does 13440 vs frozen and charged shots with Heat Pipe 2/1/1/2/2 does 10080 (note it does exactly the same 10080 regardless of whether you build ammo or max damage). Again, charged gets a little splash but does a lot more overkill. More importantly, it's just much much slower.

In terms of actual damage per max ammo, heavy hitter 1/2/3/2/2 does 13440 vs frozen and charged shots with Heat Pipe 2/1/1/2/2 does 10080 (note it does exactly the same 10080 regardless of whether you build ammo or max damage). Again, charged gets a little splash but does a lot more overkill. More importantly, it's just much much slower.
