At least with Andrew Hussie his webcomic had mini flash game like elements and he had a background in inventing some medical equipment so he could do some stuff.

I knew Hussie studied computer science but I never knew he developed medical equipment, that's quite neat.

Alterniabound and Openbound were neat, I appreciate them as fun little parts of the comic that you could play, even if they were just little walk and talk simulators.

Pesterquest and Friendsim were kind of boring and really only good as fan service and adding on little bits of lore dumps and world building.

Hiveswap is kinda disappointing. It's essentially just another walk and talk simulator but in the form of a slow, boring point and click adventure game which won't even be finished for another 5 years.

        Anonymous

I haven't played Hiveswap yet despite being hyped for it back when it was announced in fricking greenlight (remember those?) for one because I had moved on by the time it released but also I felt like my chains were jerked a bit when after reading a really long comic that by it's format is mostly fricking text with some animations in between and the flashes (that existed to shove worldbuilding in, I believe) Hiveswap was another fricking game where you walk and talk, it was more text and I knew that would be the case but I expect something more, maybe a game that didn't release in parts like Telltale isn't a bankrupted studio and every part comes out every blue moon.

      Anonymous

I'm 90% sure the flashes were mainly coded by volunteers since Hussie was always busy making assets and writing, the guy who made the first few flashes (the ones that use the same assets as the comic instead of being Earthbound-like or whatever) said at some point that Hussie was like a fricking machine and no one could keep pace with him so he [the programmer] ended up having to rush shit so he could get it out.

He developed some color theory related software that gets used in medical imaging but on the other hand that could have been Hussie Sr.'s work. It's unclear.

Oney at least had music making experience as well as fricking around with blender to make 3D models. He has also good connections to help make his game, especially all those newgrounds guys, so he at least is doing well and isnt just being a shitty director sitting in the corner and twiddling his thumbs while everyone else is doing work

      Anonymous

As far as I'm aware he's not doing the heap of the programming, he's kinda just telling people what he wants it to be and paying them to make it. But yeah, I know he's made all the music and blender assets for it though. I would assume all the animations for it too.

It's just that Ninjamuffin is gonna take forever and whoever is doing the music is a big ass drama queen so it's just a matter of Dave making sure to tard wrangle them into doing their jobs

We literally know nothing about the ENA game so we have no clue as to what the scope is; Joel said it was short and I don't see any reason doubt him given he's had a good track record so far. My bet is that it'll be a small point and click game. I just want the soundtrack to be out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-j2LJ0ktHoI

I assume it will just be a playable version of one of his usual videos? Mostly a visual novel with some cutscenes and interactions? Probably won't be longer than 30 minutes total of play, which is good as one of the main issue with indie devs is trying to make something on a scale several times larger than they can handle.

I think it'll be something like a visual novel with
elements reminiscend of those old chatroom games that people like Nexpo bait clicks out of people to talk about shitty creepypastas; in any case I find it really funny how a long video turned into a playable thingy because it got out of hand.

I'm not really looking forward to Dream BBQ. I don't like ENA anymore. I used to when it started but it quickly developed an incredibly autistic and annoying fanbase and kinda felt like it was trying way to hard to be weird and out there in the latest instalment of the series. I prefer Hands Up a lot more to be honest, which makes me sad Joel hasn't uploading an animation in a year.

FNAF is really simple, considering it's one perspective 99.9% of the game. Making a game doesn't take long. Filling it with content and making it last more than 10 minutes is the hard part.

        >"I don't know how code works"
Wasn't this released while he was well underway for Bowlbo development?

Chris said in an episode that he vastly underestimated how much time and money went into a game. He thought it would only be a few years and a couple thousand dollars. At least the FNF team for all their faults understand the scope and how much time people should expect for the game to come out.

Act 6 wasn't THAT bad, sure the post-scratch kids aren't that interesting, the character development (and regressing said development) during the ship/meteor 3 years thing is mostly shit, Dirk and his auto-responder get into walls of orange and red way too fricking often, only 2 of the 12 Beforan trolls are relevant to the story and the other 10 serve as satires that only get development during the Openbound and assumptions made by how the reader believes ectobiology and the scratch to work by then, the acts drag around needlessly way too fricking long and way too fricking often, Caliborn and Calliope frick around way too much for the sake of making them likable characters with actual personality traits but it just doesn't fricking work against a large cast of much more developed characters - aside from all of this Act 6 is still just short of being anywhere near as good as Act 5 was. At least it's still better than H^2 but then again any fan adventure with the same concept is better in every single way and those people are actually getting movie to put out less updates than Andrew Hussie did back when he did everything by himself.
