I played Deus Ex Revision and it bugged once you go see your brother at your apartment after finishing the quest he gives you. The bug was he doesn't speak to me anymore. I tried to reload a save game but got the same bug.

He does stop talking to you when you're supposed to be raided, maybe it was that. He told you to leave through a window, right? I'm pretty sure you could have just left or kys'd in front of him to progress once you confirmed that quest was complete, but I have a faint memory of the code he gives you not showing up in your notes.

I think it has to do with every object being "interactable". Either you can use it, so drink from the water fountain, use the shower, open the fridge, drink the beer, break a window, etc or is a decoration that you can at any time place in a different area. I love this kind of thing. oh and important part - it's NEVER forced on you.
Why can't today's games achieve this? Everything is either on rails and only lets you use scripted shit with decorations fricking welded to the table or a meme game that focuses exclusively on sandbox playing with props, no fun stealth/shooting/whatever. The tech is there, but it's like people make it a point to avoid letting you have too much fun.

Because graphics have a large amount of detail with baked shadows, AI maps and collision maps

Vaccines are not cures. The only vaccine that works as a cure is the one against rabies because the disease progression is so slow.

without turning this into a debate about vaccines, vaccines are preventative medicines that teach your immune system to be ready for an infection by giving you a weaker version of it

rich people tend to be terrible human beings because the nature of that type of person is greed. Greed is the only mental illness that if you're poor is debilitating but as soon as you strike it rich it's no longer a problem, it's everyone else's problem. rich people should be killed if they keep trying to become richer, they're demons at that point.

It's really not that difficult to draw parallels between Deus Ex's story and what has happened over the last few years. Not to mention that a lot of the plot was inspired by conspiracy theorists–such as Milton Cooper–at the time who actually did predict a lot of what has happened since they published their writings. The fact that people deny this is baffling to me. All this being said, the game and the aforementioned conspiracy theorists did not "predict everything," and to claim they did is to idiotic. They did get a lot correct, but exaggerating doesn't help anyone and poisons the discourse.

              Anonymous

Indeed, it's not a prediction per se, it's just that some people are comfortable and indentured to the system in it's current state to see the big picture and where it's headed.
It doesn't take a genius to think that the government want more control over the people and that the rich elites got there because they are psychopaths and wouldn't mind sacrificing "lesser" people to further their own ideals.
Anyone could think this, but voice those ideas and you will suddenly sound like a conspiracy theorist.

Why even bother denying it ? Why was Google censoring info on the gain of function research of covid? Face it glowie, people don't buy your BS anymore.

Consolidation of power here is power over the media and the mind.
Setting up a manichean type system where obeying the 'experts', experts as determined by the media-government complex, is seen as the ultimate moral good. And those that don't, are evil and anti-social.
Effectively its enforcing a dividing line into society where one side are the good people because they listened to the experts and followed the rules, and the other is evil because they didn't. Regardless of the justifications behind either side.

mgr rising is a meme game that's been posted on Ganker for years, or atleast it started out as a meme until moronic teenagers joined in a year or so ago when it blew up and took it a bit too seriously (same thing with the sigma meme, the hypoborrean edit or whatever they're called etc). If you played mgr you'd know how fricking moronic the political views of all characters are, sure armstrong says some true stuff, but his ideals are brain dead moronic if you think past his "celebrity bullshit" quote

If it went basically the opposite direction as the game, the relation is fairly limited.
In reality the oligarchs care too much about maintaining economic movement and societal function to fully profiteer in a scenario like that. They understand their power comes from the current system still functioning and will work to perpetuate it.
Page was a classic robber baron type, which works for smaller diseases and illnesses. Insulin is treated like that today a lot of the time. But for a societal scale disease like the Grey Death, 'magnanimity' is more realistic.

The idea that the oligarchy is willing to burn down everything in the name of making money is the mistake.
It shows a lack of understanding of how things work.
The oligarchs are willing to exploit and steal, of course they are. But maintaining societal function is a key interest of theirs. They're like farmers that understand the importance of keeping soil quality or lumberjacks that know to replant. They need society in its current form to keep running, its what grants them wealth and power.

When it comes to diseases, natural disasters, or anything else that endanger society as a whole, more often than not you're going to the TPTB work to counter it and 'save society'. Because that is economically and power-wise, logical for them to do.
Smaller scale problems see profiteering, but larger ones require some acceptance of a loss of profit in the name of general benefits.

I was aiming at smoking from start, not now.
Gov wasn't against smoking and they hid that its unhealthy for 20 years first. At the start they even had doctors advertise smoking as healthy. They protected the cash cow for a good 30 years. And now you can still buy it with less restrictions than weed.

Its an example how money absolutely wins.

                I agree that money wins.
Thats why the oligarchs won't burn everything for the sake of short term profit doing something like price hiking socially necessary vaccines.
For smoking it was repressed by some, but as soon as more info came out there was mass collective action by the oligarchs to wipe it out.

The vaccine is already as expensive as they could make it.
Especially since they convinced you you'll have to take multiple booster shots every year. And the patent never expires because every new strain gets a new shot.

                alright explain smoking...
reality is you can bribe and get away with exploiting if the damage isn't critical. Nobody cares if a few die, rather others who benefit (cancer field) silently approve since they make money from your practices too.

You fatten a pig so to make profit in its slaughter, you troglodyte. For example the ONLY reason the United States is so prosperous is because the European Central Bank and its brothers in England needed a continent which can act as a great catalyst for global financial dynamism. Endless consumers not knowing what they consume all so they can skim the top of each profit margin and further cement their stranglehold. When I'll times fall upon a nation there is profit to be made. There's profit in its death.
They do not want global death, but a national one they encourage even.

Slaughtering the pig is a temporary gain for a long term loss.
Right now there isn't an alternative to the EU and USA for the oligarchs to sacrifice them to. China isn't friendly, Russia has its own hostile oligarchy and is too poor anyhow. The East African Union has perpetually stalled out. Brazil burnt out. Mexico is a cartel state.
There aren't any rising powers to replace either with.

Game is actually about controlling the population with a manufactured virus, they spread it to politicians and celebrities to control them because they would pay the most to get the vaccine first and influence the sheep. Sentencing the average Joe to die a long and painful death(what you can see in game) is actually what Page talks about in the intro, you either suffer bad or pay out of your ass to get fixed.
Irl the theory is that disease is no worse than a cold, but not harmless, and that vaccine "addition" and normalizing draconic restrictions over nothing are going to let [[]] control the world easier. And in case you forgot people have been fired over refusing the jab, and you still can't do everything like visit another country without it, not to mention how bad things were in the middle of the pandemic.
Crackpot falseflag theory is that it's the vaccine that's either going to make people infertile or make everyone drop dead like flies. Because they want a world in which there's nobody to control I guess?

The new Deus ex games are alright, but the OST is really bad. It's too messy, and it's tryign to be too serious. It's missing LARPing like from the old one, make you feel like some cop in the future, a bit like shows in 90s. Soulless, like most moderns products. It's decent but not moving. Feels more like a 'job'that they had to do, than trying to do something. The messyness and seriousness make it kinda like a burden. Like It's almost rough to listen to. Deus ex 1 ost is like a fresh breeze next to it.

Their will to be too serious makes them avoid higher pitch stuff and stuff that sounds more nice/lightweight, yet they somehow manage to miss the grave/unfolding conspiracy tones the original could have. Sad !

You have no idea how taxation works. The ones who actually pay ANY taxation are always the consumers. Think for 0,0000001 second, leftard: if you had resale business and the government increased taxation by 15%, would you now start selling products at a loss and go bankrupt, or would you increase your prices?

You might as well think of Deus ex and Invisible war(though it's pretty bad apparently) as a different series than the prequels. Not that Jensen's games are bad, they're just too different.

I mean, it doesn't have any skillpoints to use, it's all static aug tree and weapon mods, so it's not really an rpg in the first place. And the melee takedown sucks. Besides the story is all about muh fricking coggers ruining muh country, barely had any mention of illuminati or any other fun writing, but it wasn't a "bad" game, I actually really liked it. Just that, it doesn't live up to Deus Ex.

            Anonymous

Praxis points work just like skill points though and the story it still about uncovering a conspiracy and hidden, ulterior motives in both games. Melee takedown is just an additional option, you can just not use it if you want
The games are modernized but still retain a lot of the original while portraying a unique take on the cyberpunk genre. I wish I had played them sooner and I wish there was a third game already.

              Anonymous

Praxis is both skills and augs, so both systems suffer, there's also no choice between say, two very useful leg augs, you just get both. And melee takedowns are plain moronic, don't try to bullshit about that, an entire system locked behind energy and the slow regen and your solution is "don't use it bro". Modernization shouldn't disable or cheapen systems that were fun before. To be honest I don't mind the praxis system as much, you just don't have to find the specific aug in the world and it is good, yeah. But skills should be incorporated as it's own thing somehow.
              >still retain a lot of the original
Remove HR's ending and you could perfectly disguise it as a completely new IP. I don't regret playing the prequel, Jensen is a fun guy and all but I kinda wish Deus Ex still had the potential for stuff done with the world.

                >skills should be incorporated as it's own thing somehow
This would be good, but I don't really mind how praxis works, I feel it doesn't really take much from the original skills.
                >completely new IP
Hell no, if it wasn't DX related it would be called a DX clone. Like I said, I think it strikes the perfect balance of retaining the old while providing new stuff.

                Anonymous

Melee used to consist of free lethal and nonlethal, with prod being the super useful exception for those who don't like killing. Now it's always pay energy to remove a guard. What' the equivalent of the baton in HR, huh? There's already a stun gun, why make punches the same? Somewhat skilled use in og DX let you KO entire maps without spending a single energy point or a bullet, can't have that now.
                >it would be called a DX clone.
Yea. It basically is one. Doesn't make it a good DX mainline game though, it's just suitably good on it's own accord.

yes because melee in dx1 trivialized 90% of the game

                Anonymous

Because of the nanite sword. You can do it with the baton too if you're good, or the basic knife if you're better. All HR had to do is not include an op oneshot-everything-in-all-cases melee. Oh.

                >trivialized
Oh yeah it real killed your motivation to use all the interesting stealth mechanics like...uh...
Admittedly, I do like throwing something or shooting a silenced bullet into the ground to immediately 180 a guard, but that's unironically dogshit that wouldn't be acceptable in a good stealth game, but it's perfect for Deus Ex.

Spoken like a true internet opinionated moron. Higher wages don't cause inflation.
Why do you think boomers were so prosperous? They had cheap houses, cheap cars, plentiful of goods, and extremely high wages. Inflation didn't happen. You know what did happen? Selling manufacturing to overseas interests, mass immigration to lower wages, and "women's right" to further drive down wages.
My boomer neighbors bough a house (then) valued at 20k with a $10 deposit. Now the house is worth $500k. Yes, that sure is the result of inflation when the property price outpaces yearly natural inflation by thousands of orders of magnitude.

                >Why do you think boomers were so prosperous? They had cheap houses, cheap cars, plentiful of goods, and extremely high wages. Inflation didn't happen. You know what did happen? You have the facts right but your conclusion is completely wrong. Centralization of business combined with, as you already said, increasing the number of people available for the jobs made it so the wages are worth shit. With decentralization you'd have tons of small business, less people in the workforce and thus jobs would be worth more. This is what would actually solve things. Laws forcing higher wages would just hike up prices.

What happesn when there's little government control is you get something called a company town where the company owns all the property and all the stores and if you get fired you're homeless and not allowed to buy anything and then you fricking die.

I hope you realize that the tall end of the graph is demonstrably showing wages and inflation rising.

There's a big difference between wages rising because there's more demand for work, versus wages rising because the government made them rise. We see both situations in the graph. Up until 2020, wages were outpacing inflation, which is a sign that the demand for work was increasing, probably the result of Trumps policies to make American labor more competitive. Then came the memedemic and the lock downs, causing a massive recession, but wages went up because of stimulus checks and money printing. Then, when the economy was allowed to function again, massive inflation and wages went way down because the currency devalued massively while consumption rose sharply.

You can't argue with the simple premise that if you reward what should be a 10$/h job with 20$, then that 20$ is really just worth 10$. If throwing money it poor people fixed anything, Detroit would have the best education in the US by far.

You know what, the government should allow individuals to not pay taxes. At the same time, they should be allowed to bill you for the education you already received and public services you used. Also, because you don't pay taxes anymore and therefore are not part of any community, property laws shouldn't apply to you any longer. You would turn into an outlaw essentially. That would be fun.

All the “validation” you get is two-faced and half-hearted. Behind your back co-workers mock you. Your father is disgusted and ashamed of you, your “friends” laugh at your ape-like “intelligence” behind closed doors.
The elites are utterly repulsed by you. 75 years of cloak & daggers have allowed men to sniff out frauds with incredible efficiency. Even losers who “pass” are relegated to being desk-jockeys shilling on imageboards. Your dyel frame is a dead giveaway. And even if you manage to blackmail a pedophile to spill his beans, he’ll be caught by enemy counterintel and thrown into a river before he could divulge any sensitive information.

You will never be happy. You wrench out a fake smile every single morning and tell yourself it’s going to be ok, but deep inside you feel the depression creeping up like a weed, ready to crush you under the unbearable weight.

Eventually your handler will find you too burdensome - he’ll buy a rope, tie a noose, put it around your neck, and plunge you screaming into the cold abyss. Your father will find you, heartbroken but relieved that he’ll no longer have to live with the unbearable shame and disappointment. They’ll bury you with a headstone marked with your birth name, and every passerby for the rest of eternity will know a traitor is buried there. Your trail will go cold and turn into static, and all that will remain of your legacy is a gaybook profile of you with your gormless face and skinnyfat frame.

This is your fate. This is what you chose. There is no turning back.

All so we can root out the vermin hiding in the shadows feeding conspiracies to the masses. Soon enough you will see resistance cells spring up sabotaging electrical grids. This is dangerous to our democracy, dangerous to our bottom line, and threatens our freedom.

You're joking, but Schwab would feel very comfortable with you sitting next to him on his globohomosexual panels. And the only solution is large quantities of explosives.

These kinds of underhanded comments are the types which feed and fester the underground movements. You say
I am the one who jokes, but your singular actions reverberate through the consensus, ever so slightly shifting the axis of influence. Rudimentary parameters are already established within AI algorithms to rectify such deviance.
But even you miss the larger picture of the information warfare, of the post truth society, of the technological dominance and hidden corporate strangleholds.
Why do you think your kind is allowed to exist? We can easily identify every member of each splinter cell as it lashes out in its minuscule chaos. But we don't take direct action, why?
The truth is you're required as justification of our actions. For without your kind we would have no fulcrum no lever to which upend the world and set its spin at our controlled pace. When the private police or the hired mercenary gets harmed in the line of duty how easily he becomes a citizen attacked by lunatics, and how easier our grab for power becomes. The public will shout and scream for our aid, and we will always take more than they offer. Their liberties will always be bought out with the promises of security. But if we achieve complete security they will demand their liberties again.

There is no way you can stop this beast for we are in symbiosis. One hand justifies the other. It's a natural part of humanity. The underdogs will always be the losers because otherwise they wouldn't be the underdogs. There is a reason why in man's vast history not a single utopia has emerged. We will forever turn on each other as soon as we step out of the shadows of perceived virtues. Don't you see? Man seeks freedom at all costs, and the price of freedom is irrelevant. And what he fights is irrelevant as well. We have created a system where you can play the hero, but you will never amount to much. Yet the powers that be will keep swallowing the whole further and further.

The point of the outsiders sharing data is not to save the cattle but to help peers. The availability of information doesn't threaten the order but gives choice for those receptive to it. Re-introducing choice is an act of promoting evolution.

You are engineering your own demise. Sunk in your arrogance, blinded by your own "truth". Look it the mirror. There is one to stop you.

You are building your own enemy. The one to stop them all. The big governments, the big banks, the big secret societes. Too big to fail? Too bad. You are constructing an enemy so big, it will destroy even the biggest of you.

supposedly one of the head devs had actually family ties and simply injected what he heard.

US politics is pretty incestuous, if you chase family trees its a few very interconnected families running the show which means if you in you know a lot more than you would expect.

Yeah, I said it. They were not considered at all, those who would control things didn't care if some jokers would put redpills in something they thought was a toy, and they've already realized their mistake.
Now videogames are closely monitored for any signs of narratives that would light fire under their asses. It's a gigantic fricking market now, controlled even more closely than cinema even if not as profitable.

It is beyond a miscarriage of justice that people are allowed to say this today as though it's profound. People who pointed out the obvious back when it actually mattered were slandered and defamed for misinformation, bigotry, and lacking mental fitness. Now that normies don't fricking care and ergo it doesn't matter, every sniveling hollywood israelite who worships the regime can see fit to opine "WELL ISN'T IT OBVIOUS". Yes, it was fricking obvious in January 2020.

The lesson from the fluhoax for you is to notice how quickly and easily the NPCs around you get radicalized, and furthermore, how impossible it is for you to convince them they've been had. No investigative journalism or modicum of common sense can help them once the israeli PsyOps hijack their mind.

Remember this when they're coming for you next with ~~*global warming and economic crisis*~~. Get bullets or learn to kill with a shovel if you're in a disarmed country.

Yep. I was never someone who thought or claimed the virus or vax was deliberately an attack on populations. I blame incompetence for everything wrong with both. The evil intent came with covering it up.
However, the vast majority of the human race has demonstrated that they simply don't consider either scenario.

So? French peasants dragged aristocrats out of their palaces. People have become too docile. A CEO makes a string of awful decisions and he gets a new job while the company gets terminated among with thousands of jobs. A manager embezzles money and gets a slap on the wrist. A company releases a faulty product that is dangerous to the public and receives zero backlash. I think it's time to bring back guillotines.

You know anon. I was quite ready to write a very mean spirited post to you. But something stopped me. I don't want to make you or anyone else feel bad, because of a petty disagreement over political and economical issues that are much bigger than everyone here. It's really disheartening and dehumanizing that I had such an initial impulse to treat you like an enemy. You're not my enemy, and even though I stopped myself from posting something mean, I still want to apologize.

So I'll just warn you that the peasants didn't end up winning the French revolution. The nobles were overthrown but in their place rose terrible tyrants. I don't think, in a hypothetical scenario, that if the people were to rise up in the elites, the people in power after would be people like you and me. Violence isn't the answer after all. I honestly think people becoming more mindful of the things they're consuming is a much better strategy to weakening to hold of the elites on our lives. Either way, I hope you have a blessed weekend anyway.

There's never going to be no government.

But company towns are the result of government giving a specific company advantages, which allow them to artificially grow and become enormous, which they couldn't become if they were subject to the same rules. You're arguing that all companies should play by the same rules. I agree.
