i wasn't hyped for it because fallout 4 was trash but it killed any interest i had in playing it at all to the point i didnt even bother pirating it yet
It's not that. Starfield is soulless. I'll give you an example with another Sci-Fi game ECHO. Not a coomer game either but peak SOVL. Sadly ECHO was super small budget and had zero marketing behind it.
ECHO > Starfield as far as sci-fi games go.
Cyberpunk 2077 > Starfield as far as open world first person rpgs go.
Baldur's Gate 3 > Starfield in every imaginable way.
>Then why are you so obsessed with it?
They're more invested in tearing games apart than actually enjoying them. Most aren't even active gamers, they play shitposting the way you play a game. Their hobby is watching videos shitting on games, reposting talking points from those videos here, posting memes, etc. They like shazamchuding more than any game you could make.

>you're not allowed to have opinions unless they praise my favorite goyslop
people are allowed to have negative things to say about video games
it doesnt make them a doomposter or a tortanic fag
this is a bad game
Different genres, so no. I wasn’t excited for BG3 after playing other Larian games, so I knew it would be a buggy mess. I wasn’t that hyped for starfield either, but I’m still going to check it out soon.
Is there more of a case for artificial success than this game? Everything i see about it looks unfun and another buggy fallout slop game but in space and with no actual features about planet hopping that would make it feel immersive at all
You expect me to play the game when I'm seeing nothing worth enjoying in all the gameplay that gets posted? The story and dialogue are shit, shooting mechanics are just fallout 4 again which i played, and the ship combat is basic as fuck alongside the loading screens and not actually travelling and landing on planets without loading screens.
Tell me what about this game is worth making me buy it and give it a chance?
combat is better than fo4
there are quests all over, and many have interesting storylines and dialogue (while some don't, but that's Bethesda for ya)
exploring planets is fun
the atmosphere is great once you get out of New Atlantis (my least fav city)
if you skip dialogue and just want to complete quests as fast as possible, yeah it'll be boring for you. you'll see too many loading screens this way.
what i do is stay on a planet for a while - always some quests to do - and roam around, explore the city/settlements, and not just constantly keep fast travelling around as others seem to do.
>combat is better than fo4
wrong >there are quests all over, and many have interesting storylines and dialogue (while some don't, but that's Bethesda for ya)
wrong they're literally all fetch quests or go to [building] and clear out [generic bad guys in space suits] >exploring planets is fun
picrel is you >the atmosphere is great once you get out of New Atlantis (my least fav city)

no, you're a dumb gay who could probably find fun out of playing with two turds in a bath tub
Or in other words, artificial success. It's like how Facebook and Twitter count anyone scrolling down the page past a video as a view even if they didn't click it, watch it, or even stop to see what it's about.
>It's like how Facebook and Twitter count anyone scrolling down the page past a video as a view even if they didn't click it, watch it, or even stop to see what it's about.
This is not true, there are industry metrics that these two companies have to follow -- a video has to be watched roughly 30 seconds to 45 seconds to count as a view and the host provider has to keep metrics of how much of the video was actually completed so the advertisers know they are getting proper ad buys.
>Playing Starfield did
Why did you even play it? I just played BG3 and then when Starfield got close i watche some youtube videos of it and that was enough for me not to want to touch it ever.
I'm enjoying both games, but yeah, a little. I'm not going to join in on the artificial two minutes hate circlejerking, but it does point to a real problem in Todd's idea of what games are/should be, and in their content creation process.
Ten years ago, Larian was begging for money on kickstarter just to ship a game. Ten years ago Bethesda had shipped Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3, and just shipped Skyrim, which I believe is one of the most successful games of all time. Starfield has a larger budget, more men working on it, and I believe even had a longer development time. But there's very little real content by comparison. Despite all the talk about going back to the RPG roots, there's really none of it here, nobody really reacts to anything, and I'm actually seeing some engine bugs that I remember using a mod to fix all the way back in Skyrim.
I like the look, I like the idea, but Starfield feels like a very complacent game, which is very disappointing for something that Todd has apparently wanted to make for most of his professional life. What is Larian doing that they were able to go from near bankruptcy to BG3, and what is Bethesda doing wrong that they were able to go from a long stream of big success stories to a game that seems to disappoint more people than not?
>I like the look, I like the idea, but Starfield feels like a very complacent game, which is very disappointing for something that Todd has apparently wanted to make for most of his professional life. Larian is HUNGRY whereas Bethesda is perfectly content in their position since no one else in the industry is rivaling their games. It's actually surreal how no one has even attempted to develop them.
>It's actually surreal how no one has even attempted to develop them.
Because at best it just ends up just being more Bethesdaslop with better writing. It's almost impossible to create a world with the amount of bullshit clutter with its own physics and object permanence without doing it the way Bethesda does. Allowing that seamlessly is actually one of the biggest things Star Citizen has been working on perfecting and they've made good progress. It's v likely they will sell that tech to other companies eventually.
>It's actually surreal how no one has even attempted to develop them.
We'll see how Avowed goes. I know we can't mention the game without the mentally ill showing up, but I think New Vegas really mogged Bethesda at their own formula too.
>but I think New Vegas really mogged Bethesda at their own formula too.
It was simply Obsidian running circles around Bethesda when it comes to development aspects they're traditionally good at.
Genuinely, how? Every non-handmade planet feels so dull and lifeless. At most there's what 4 species of animals per planet? And they're mostly just fallout mutant bugs with a dinosaur here and there? There's nothing to explore. Finding stuff just feels redundant because it's not unique and doesn't tie into anything. And the cities are so tiny and dull with nothing to do.
Legit how is Todd supposed to live down his 25 years planned magnum opus instantly becoming the unfavorable end of a juxtaposition of the existence of modern video games
I'm sure console warring plays some role, but I haven't had a console since the Xbox 360, I've had an irrational hate of Sony since I was a kid with an N64, and even I see Starfield as more of a miss than a hit.
There's nothing rational about console warring. But my nephew wanted a Playstation last Christmas and I talked him out of it because I didn't want to buy a Sony console, which I regard as something for blacks.
Point is, I'm sure Playstation fanboys hate Bethesda now, but there's more to it than that, Starfield legitimately did under deliver.
No. I have no intention of playing BG3 until it's finished. >Everyone who started playing through on release day missed multiple companion questlines because they were bugged >Everyone who played before this week had to deal with the gay horny companions humping their leg due to a bug >Devs have stated twice that an expansion pack is coming
As far as I care, everyone is talking about an early access game. Wake me up when it releases.
That's just the average Larian experienceat this point. They spend years in early access to have a super polished first act and then the game slowly drops the ball the further you get. DOS2 was the same exact fucking thing. That said, there will be no expansion packs, no idea where you got that from.
>anon only likes well known racist game
What a surprise. I'm sure you really love that shit writing, jank combat, terrible main character, bland environment, dead NPCs, and heavy handed religious content.
true. kingdom come deliverance had authenticity, something most other games are lacking. probably because half of the developers are trannies due to their lack of authenticity. sometimes i feel sorrow instead of disgust for these creatures.
>liked fo4 (minus the story) >liked fo76 >liked fo3
i also like Starfield even though it does have flaws - but what game doesn't? if you aren't anal about every little thing and just try to have fun, you will have fun.
It's a game for stupid people that are easily tricked by fake bullshit in bethesda games. The illusion of freedom and choice is pretty thin in this one though.
what is it with this narcissistic journalism. "i feel, i do, i think, for me, for us".
if this guy did a review video half of it would be shots of him staring out of the window explaining how he feels about some fucking tangent. the decay of journalism, in Gankergame-media, but also in any other form is astounding.
i knew starfield was going to be mediocre or bad. how you ask? i have eyes and saw that it looked bad in the trailers and i knew bethesda wasn't capable of delivering anything except procedurally generated garbage with bad writing for the most part. if anything i expected it to be even worse.
Im convinced starfield ruined itself by coming out in 2023. This year has had a lot of big game releases and Bethesda jank just holds up all the less in perspective
I wasn't hyped for Starfield to begin with. The quality of their games has been steadily declining for the last two decades, and Fallout 76 showed they don't give a shit anymore.
Starfield is exactly what I expected from them: Oblivion with a different skin.
I don't understand how their brand can be so strong after so many disappointments. Everyone was hyped about this game as soon as they showed this: https://youtu.be/JUobbpHERh8?feature=shared , a logo and nothing more.
Same with Square Enix: when was the last time they made a genuinely good game? And I don't mean a serviceable 7/10, I mean an actual good videogame. And yet, people still have high expectations for them, I don't understand.
>I don't understand how their brand can be so strong after so many disappointments
Morrowind was that good. I think the shine might have finally worn off, twenty years later, but every game they've made since has been carried by the idea of "what if they made it like Morrowind again though"
I'm starting to think sony was behind bg3 hype machine (it's a great game but there's no fucking way normies in such numbers would be willing to try it without some outside push) and low starfield scores on the biggest review sites. and now this post launch smear campaign as well. they will make any dirty move to literally kill their competition instead of actually competing by making real fucking games and it's disgusting.
>Did Baldur's Gate 3 kill your hype for Starfield?
I didn't have any hype for Starfield, but I must say that Starfield had no chances to get hype when it launched right after an objectively better game.
They MUST have released it earlier. This decision to postpone cost them probably dozens of millions of revenue.
i wasn't hyped for it because fallout 4 was trash but it killed any interest i had in playing it at all to the point i didnt even bother pirating it yet
Starfield just isn't coomer enough.
It's not that. Starfield is soulless. I'll give you an example with another Sci-Fi game ECHO. Not a coomer game either but peak SOVL. Sadly ECHO was super small budget and had zero marketing behind it.
I'm not gonna play your game

especially EGI has lot more representation in BG3. i dont understand this unreflected love for bg3, screams to me "i support the current thing"
Then why are you so obsessed with it?
Go talk about games you DO play, are you fucking stupid?
>Then why are you so obsessed with it?

100% did. At least for me.
Baldur's Gate 3 is diffidently GotY without a doubt.
>diffidently
>without a doubt
Pick one.

How would you know you haven't played it
you're not sending your best
Maybe one day when the beta is over and I get a free month of Goy pass but I'm not giving these people money to cement my opinion that it's trash

Game pass on Xbox means big player count with no real sales.
Or in other words, artificial success. It's like how Facebook and Twitter count anyone scrolling down the page past a video as a view even if they didn't click it, watch it, or even stop to see what it's about.

ONE million really isnt a whole lot, especially for a bethesda game
Concurrent players on day one its absolutly is.
Anons don't know what "concurrent" means.
Partially but also starfield just isn't that good even compared to skyrim or fallout
>suddenly fallout is good
Starfield will suddenly be goty once Skyrim 2 comes around
No

No, BG3 was just a nice treat to pass the time. Starfield ruined itself.
No, because I don't get hyped for any games nowadays and BG3 isn't exactly free from having issues either.
I wasn't gonna play it anyway after how fucking boring Fallout 4 was.
It took a mediocre game for people to realize how shit the videogame industry is apparently.
No but it did raise the bar. But even without it I think people are getting tired of game publishers bullshit.
every game ive played since kingdom come deliverance feels like shit
