When there was only red/blue I got all the possible Pokemon in Red, but I never was able to trade to get the blue exclusive, trade Pokemon, other starters T_T
Tough break. No one to trade with?
Yea, I lived in a rural area.
you can manipulate the code in game to get them all
Yea but kids in the 90's didn't know how to do that. All we knew was Game Genie/Game Shark
Only in Red and Sword
Yes: Leaf green and Ultra Sun.
no because it was impossible without cheating outside of japan, frick gamehomosexuals
perhaps i would have if the entire format wasn't centered around making it impossible unless you pay twice for the same game.
Or coordinate with a friend to get the other version, and trade.
>friend
All my friends wanted to do was battle and no one wanted to trade their starter over.
yeah good luck trying to find a 10 year old shitter willing to trade his fricking charizard
It’s called having friends
That only counts for the original games.
Gold/Silver required trading with both red AND blue AND the other version to get all the pokemon.
It got worse with each gen after it, I'm pretty sure you needed like 6 different games at one point to get everything.
It's just not worth it.
I did it for Gen 2 since me and my sister had all the games. Never again because it was still annoying
The trading concept is explicitly centered around having friends, buddy
The concept breaks when you introduce exclusive timed events mons and mons you outright can't get legitimately in your region.
Yeah when Red, Blue and Yellow re-released on 3DS my friend group all each got a different version and we all did the Mew trick too
Was way easier than it seemed back in the late 90s
>Mew trick
You didn't beat it
Back when red/blue was released, we had no idea about the mew trick. We thought it was hidden under the truck. And if you beat the Elite 4 10 times in a row you could get Pikablu
>back in the day we didn't know how to cheat, this is relevant because somehow this makes it not cheating when we cheated
go on...
>1
Sorry, I misunderstood what you were saying. I thought you meant if you didn't do the mew trick to get mew, you didn't beat the game. My bad
There were no Mew giveaways in the 3DS era, at least I used a glitch and not a GameShark
Either way Mew isn't required for Oak to give you the award
I'm still trying to catch Jamal.
Up to X and y I had a living pokedex but I only play digimon now.
In gen 3 and 7
Yeah, completet the red dex, but that was already a bit of a pain for a rather pointless achievement. Didn't even try for gold.
Yes, every game from gen 1 up until, gen 7 I think. What ever gen USUM was, would be the last pokemon game I played but I think in USUM I did not complete the dex but I did with S/M.
In Diamond with action replay because I was a heathen little shit who didn't care
Did it properly in OR because I knew that was the last entry I was ever going to play in this doomed series.
in gen 2 and then my battery in it died like a week later
Not being able to trade gen 2 mons to gen 3 was some of the biggest bullshit ever. My very first shiny (Pichu), lost Raichu forever when the battery died. Golden Magikarp in gen 2 was my second shiny. You have no idea how mad young stupid me was when I evolved golden Magikarp into a non golden Gyarados. I was so fricking disappointed when it turned red
>Played Pokemon since Red released
>Didn't learn about shinies until Black/White
>Think of all the possible shinies I killed/ran from
I thought the Red Gyarados was just a one-off speacial pokemon...
Shinies sparkle really obviously, you probably just never saw another one
Its possible.
Once I knew about shinies, my 1st I found was a Shiny Linoone
Yes
Missing 3
The three event ones that you can't get legit? yes
I am not going to use a trashy "distribution" rom. That's not legit.
Which 3 are you missing?
Deoxys, Mew and Celebi
Don't care, not complete. Sorry.
based honorable loser
coping disgraceful cheater
Didn't ask.
it wasn't meant to be a stab at you my good friend, I agree with you
Ok. See
I still have my legit diploma.
Not since dp.
Every game before that also.
not a single one, even in an emulator
Only in Legends Arceus but I guess if you say I had to 100% every dex entry then no
Done.
>name
What the hell anon
I did it for pearl because I wanted to transfer my emerald pokemans to it. Kino feature btw
Impossible for the most part, or just too difficult of a task with no good reward for collecting mons and getting them all.
Yes, I literally have a living dex in Pokemon Home and if you don't have one then you're a fraude.
I think on red as a kid. I stopped caring afterwards
Did it in Platinum aside from Arceus.
i have completed gen 3, 6, 7 and arceus
No, because I didn't have a link cable.
In Gen 1, I got all 151 (my friend gamesharked a Mew and passed it around for all of us)
This tagline is the source of all completionist cancer. I don’t complete, I have fun.
They dropped the tagline for ruby + sapphire onwards. So anyone doing it since is doing it for fun too!
No. If they gave you a real reward then I'd consider it.
I always complete the Dex. I inject all Pokes not available in my game and event Pokemon. I'm playing Crystal now. I will inject all Pokemon not available in it. I will move on to Emerald and I will inject there too.
>tfw want the Marshadow Pokemon but don’t want to ask Target employees about it
I completed the Kanto dex, the Johto dex, and the Alola dex
I completed the pokedex in every game for the first three gens then stopped caring.
I liked Red and Blue where you KNEW what to use the Master Ball for.
Ever since they had a bunch of legendaries that you could burn it on and then you wouldn't have a Master Ball for the others.
The newer games increased the legendary catch rates quite a bit. I caught Lunala in a moon ball on my first try, after getting her in yellow with no status conditions. Meanwhile Zapdos in FireRed burned through 40 ultra balls
only in pokémon reborn
Getting close
I have a living Pokédex on Sun and Moon. I stopped playing after that.
What the frick is a living dex
Either you got them or you don't ???
moron
When you evolve a pokemon, you lose the base form
A living dex is having every single stage of every pokemon in your boxes
Shut up, you can't do that in the original.
There's not enough space in Bill's PC.
???
?t=3016
He only uses like 8 boxes
have a nice day, homosexual
A few times.
>normal games
no because I never got the tradable legendaries
>fan games/romhacks
yes because they're all possible single player
Yes. Crystal back in the day. Got Mew, Celebi and Raikou from a guy at school who had an action replay. He also traded me a Blissey that I trained to Lv100 and used all the time in the battle tower. Had over 500hrs clocked on that game, I miss my bros so much:(
Only on Legends Arceus, and that's because the game required it to get the full ending.
I never did it as a kid. I went back and played through Blue with Stadium and finally got all 151 Pokemon legitimately. Well "legitimately" on that I used that save from the dude who had the event Mews and transferred them to my Stadium box. Everything else I caught in-game or traded from my girlfriend or child
in blue, yes.
my friend even cloned me a mew he got from an official event.
