In dishonored 2 theres a safe in each level with a 3 digit combination, and a solution hidden somewhere nearby. There was a safe in a locksmith's home that I was trying to get into and I couldn't find the clue so I said frick it, 999 combinations, would really only take a few minutes to crack it, so I got to it and barely a minute later the safe was open. The locksmith's safe combination was 123, it made me lol.

The guy caught in the spider web has the note that says the secret is on the claw, you can inspect items in the inventory menu. Its honestly pretty basic, the thing that would throw someone off is the fact that skyrim is a babies first rpg hand holding game where you would think the devs would put big arrows showing you where to look on the claw or something, right? feels kinda out of place having to listen to npcs talk and read notes on them to figure out a quest.

The only reason most of you knew what to do here, was that Todd showed off this "puzzle" mechanic in one of the E3 presentations before launch. The game never makes a point that you can inspect the 3d models of every item you pick up, and outside of the dragon claw keys, there's never a reason to do it.

The majority of people who play games aren't meganerds who watch every e3 presentation, so if they notice the note on the dude and put 2&2 together, it's pretty understandable that they could get confused by this mechanic since the game does a piss-poor job of explaining it.

We don't need to excuse Bethesda's bad game design, we should expect them to do better. Either make a challenging puzzle with clearly explained mechanics and require the player to use brainpower to solve it, or just make the dragonclaw a key that unlocks the door. These half-assed "puzzles" like this and the stupid bells in Bioshock Infinite are just an insult to the player.

I mean yeah, if you're a zoomer who has been conditioned by garbage modern gaming you probably wouldn't expect to be able to actually look at the item and spin it around.

    >Game requires you to be able to add 10 numbers in your head on a time limit

The very first cracked version of Skyrim had the 3d item preview all fricked up, so you couldn't check the combination from the claw itself - had to bruteforce it.

    >start new character
    >midway through playthrough get new idea for character that sounds interesting and has a slightly more fun playstyle
    >stop character and switch to that one
    >repeat endlessly until eventually arriving at the inevitable archer playthrough
