Division 2

Anyone still play this game? I got it on sale and it feels so soulless compared to Division 1 which was an awesome, albeit flawed game.

Thoughts? Opinions?

I got two free copies when I bought a cpu/graphics card combo in 2019. Spent about 100 hours in it and did everything before they started adding all the new content. I thought it was a blast, probably the only "live service" game I genuinely had a fun time with. Making stupid tactical loadouts was fun as a gun/gear autist and some of the weapon combos were tons of fun. Also the endgame where NWO black ops showed up in powered exoskeletons and robots was really cool. Wouldn't mind going back and playing all the new content, but internet restrictions have kinda stopped me from doing it. Hopefully the next Division game is good. It probably won't be, though.

That's me but with division 1. I thought that game was amazing but the end game was very medicore which made it a bit stale after a while. I've heard that the Division 2 end game is supposed to be very good but I've yet to motivated myself to actually get there because I'm not a fan of the Washington setting or the way more compilated base projects stuff and all that.

I was a huge fan of the locale. NYC was kind of boring to me honestly, DC is cool. Its honestly a pretty good recreation of DC, one of my friends worked at some office there and it made it into the game. Only weird thing in the world was the occasional door to nowhere. Also don't worry about the base stuff, just dump all your money/resources into it, frick managing, I wanna shoot people for gods sake. I really wish I had the motivation/time to make a review or something on the Division 2. Theres a lot of neat lore and stuff going on in the background. Where are you at in the game currently?

stopped playing after killing the militia army and then the game told me to frick off and retake all the points since asspull army came out of nowhere

I'm level 8 in the basically the first area after the white house. I've been doing all the side question mark events and collecting all the XP cache things. I'm saving the side missions till after I complete all the other events in that region. I've done all the projects for the white house and the "theatre" but by the end it bored me out because it was shit like give water to a checkpoint and stuff like that.

What the frick are you talking about? Their both the exact same generic, bullet-sponge, third person military shooters, the division 1 and 2 were basically the same game. If people still buy these types of games then I feel no remorse for them.

I fricking loved the gameplay of the first one, mainly because the abilities weren't absolutely fricking useless.

Literally every ability in the first game was either effective or fun to my memory while in the second I was left wondering why I bothered to use the minimal energy needed to even press the button every time I tried using anything

played it a lot at launch and was ahead of the curve in the max alert level whatever system. then i didn't really play it again until the expansion which improved the god roll hunting thing with crafting bench. but the story was tripe and kind of killed the vibe. last i played it was the 100 level tower thing, which is pretty boring. they also nerfed a lot of the fun legendries and power crept my sets.

i doubt there would really be anything to interest me in going back. the devs were always fricking useless skivers.

the first one had way more atmosphere, better city, better gadgets.

me and my brother enjoy grindy horde shooters and this game was right up our alley.
played for 2 days and then the ubishit store detected our country and wouldn't let us log in (dynamic IP) or something.
to their credit they refunded us in full with no problems so can't fault them there.
kinda lame though it looked like a fun time-sink.
    didn't play division 1

not banned but their store was "not available in my country" (US territory lmao)
it allowed me to buy the game and play for a couple of days but after it detected our real location wouldn't let us connect to the store or make it through login in game.

i have it, i played it
and i find it boring af

all the enemies are bullets sponges
if it where a lil more futuristic with cyborg i could belive that, but they try to pass it as a grounded story and the gameplay just kills it

Nope. Raids and dailies are boring. PVP is full of cheaters. 9 out of 10 weapons are gimmicks and unviable. Every patch introduced some new kind of overpowered abusive loadout and keeping up felt like a chore.

How do you figure out what the meta loadouts are?

Back when I was still playing, I would log in and my team mates, who were already playing, would chat me up and tell me all about it.

Playing it for the last 1-2 months. Never played division 1 except the trial. It's quite a grind. Other than that it's fun to grind for loot for different builds. Game is an unstable piece of shit though, constant freezing and crashing. CONSTANT. Starting to feel the boredom creeping up though, might try a few more builds and probably call it. I'm playing exclusively solo pve so i can't comment on raid and dark zone shit

1:1 NYC was a terrible game setting as it is a grid city full of skyscrapers, and the game has no verticality. The gameplay itself was also inherently bad. The one thing I will give it is the snowy atmosphere of the DMZ was good.

DC was so much more fun to explore with it being an older, European style city. It also had a lot more landmarks and an actual recognizable skyline. I also really enjoyed the setting being well past the initial breakout, with the situation essentially being like Iraq facing warlords that had taken hold of the city, each claiming to be the true "heir" of the American government. Mission were more memorable too because it was badass situations like capturing the Declaration of Independence and saving the president instead of "turn light son".

Both gear aesthetics were kind of Ubisoft euro-pozzed but at least the second had kind of tacticool options. First one you ran around looking like some tactical H7M model, it was incredibly stupid.

Division 1 gameplay is way between than division 2. They removed a bunch of quality of life features like the big red AoE marker for enemy grenades. They also changed how the recoil works on SMGs in div 2 where bullet spread isn't shown in the over the shoulder ADS reticle. Div1 showed every subtle bullet spread.

Automatic matchmaking for missions is detrimental to the core of the game.

I want to play co op but I can never fricking find anyone to play with because they’re all at endgame or whatever.

Because blizzard New York fricking ruled as a setting. That survival mode shit they added sounded legitimately neat too, but I stopped playing by then since I hated the post-game loop. I just started running aimbots and clearing out the fricking Riker's dungeon over and over again for hours grinding drops before realizing how fricking stupid that was, especially since the first APC raid infinitely spawned bulletsponge buttholes anyway. I fricking hate gearscore mechanics so much. Take away cozy NY and give me Summer Hell DC and I just do not care anymore. The story couldn't keep me invested, either.
