Afaik there is no definite lifespan, pokemon live as long as you want them too and a lot of the more esoteric ones (ghost, psychic, fairy, etc) live much longer than humans if not indefinitely

Absol's dex entry implies that 100 is impressive by Pokemon standards. Given how various characters appear over time with the same Pokemon, it's assumed that Pokemon have more of a similar lifespan to humans than their real life animal counterparts.

Raichu’s Pokédex also mentioned Indian Elephants at one point

Yeah but that's been blatantly retconned into an existing Pokemon. 100 years is still 100 years.

That was in TajiriVerse. We are now in MasudaVerse, sadly...

Eagun was over 100 and had his first Pikachu with him still battling so no, Pokémon live indefinitely unless they’re killed battling or by disease or something

The better question is if evolution changes their lifespan in any way. Because it's not typical growth, especially not when it comes to stone evolutions like Arcanine. And if we assume that yes, that would change their lifespan, would it increase or decrease?

Some speculate that Blostoise has a shorter lifespan than Wartortle solely because Wartortle has Dex Entries mentioning it living for 10K years but Blastoise has none of such.

Either not change or increase, depending on pokemon species

I remember pokemon adventures specifically pointing out that Venomoth have very short lifespans

Tell that to AZ. He suffered that many times that his present-time team is literally composed of a century-living pokémon, a ghost, and an immortal pokémon.

There's nothing that says Pokemon share lifespans with that of normal animals WITH THE EXCEPTION of Bug Type Pokemon, in Adventures, Venemoth's dex entry explicitly mentions it has a short lifespan, and irc, the JP version of the Bye Bye Butterfree episode implied they were gonna mate then die, or something like that.

But that was the canon 20 years ago, and stuff not from the games no less, so it's likely different now. Most Pokemon at the very least far outlive that of their animal counterparts if we look at that Emboar card set showing him growing up with that family. It'd be hard to get invested in these monsters if they only lived like 2 or 3 years anyway.
