i can kinda understand it if its shorter games where you can reasonably beat the game in a few hours but holy shit if the game you're playing takes like 15-20 hours to beat on average is starting to feel like torture than anything
Because for the first like 20 years of gaming speedrunning really being a thing, it was largely about skill and accidental discoveries. Nowadays people take games apart on a code level explicitly to find some way to tap a button sequence and warp right to the end, completely removing any semblance of player interaction or skill, it's just a TAS at that point.
If you're still watching speedruns after 2015, you're just pathetic. God help your soul if you're actually speedrunning still.

Most games are ran like always, with heavy exploits often even relegated into their own categories, if there aren't even any.
