I understand what you are saying but, again, it's the equivalent of grabbing a can of soda on a whim on your way to the checkout counter for many

They stop getting my money the moment they released they the 3.5 cash grab.
I don't understand why it took you and others so long. I wonder what so hard to understand?
Are you, and other like you, trying to convince everyone you didn't know WotC was a scummy company? Maybe running the most despicable and predatorial gaming business model of all time, Magic The Gathering? Maybe that could be a sign that WotC was always a malefic business?
Don't play surprised, no one is buying your fake outrage.
I wish this new OGL is as bad as everyone is making a big fuss about, and even worse. You fricks all deserve it. I hope you get milked and played like a fiddle. And all they 3rd publishers who prospered these past 20 years by ensuring the WotC monopoly on most of the hobby, I wish them even worse. I truly hope WotC normalizes playing RPG through a computer and phone apps, digital MTX, DLCs, subscriptions. Maybe some lootboxes, that would be the cherry on the top.
You made your bed, lie in it, homosexual.

Enjoy those cards being worthless very soon.
I can get two brilliant movies on a disc for that total price, and I get to keep 'em. >can get refunded if you open some expensive card >if
That's how they push units, silly, the chances are against you. One guy out of thousands will get their money back, and it wont even cost Wottocks, because you're the one who ragebuys the rare you deserved and didn't get from the seller. How do you think casino's work? >cheaper than going to see a movie
Jesus Christ! I'm sorry to hear that.
But then again, a single movie costs in dollars orders of magnitude more to make than it does to print 1,000 rare cards. Movies also don't very often become worthless after release. If a movie is worthless, it's worthless from the start, and only outright illegal shit gets banned.
Your entire "cheap" draft gets banned within months, making it the worlds most expensive toilet paper.
>Enjoy those cards being worthless very soon.
if you do draft with friends no one cares about the cards anon. If there is something expensive its sold and used for the next draft in couple of months >That's how they push units, silly
no one buys boosters hoping for expensive card >a single movie costs in dollars orders of magnitude more to make than it does to print 1,000 rare cards.
so what? I am consumer of the product, i dont give a shit how much it costs to make. My only motivation is the enjoyment and draft with friends is pretty fun thing to do
>if you do draft with friends no one cares about the cards anon.
Sure, the friends don't, but you could also watch a good movie with friends if being with friends is all that matters. The anon I replied to seemed to think that the value for bucks meant something, though, which is why I argued worth. >no one buys boosters hoping for expensive card
It's the only reason people buy them.
Don't say friends. Your friends wont give a shit because you're the one who brought up the idea to them to do boosters and drafts and shit.
The vast majority of people buying boosters are doing so to get the rares. >so what? I am consumer of the product, i dont give a shit how much it costs to make. My only motivation is the enjoyment and draft with friends is pretty fun thing to do
Good for you. As mentioned before however, the anon I responded to used price as a winning factor, so I argued price.
The fact that Wottocks can pump out one thousand rare cards and make millions for pennies on the dollar, compared to a movie crew that must spend millions before they even see a cent, does justify the pricing of the movies somewhat.
I'd question your idea of fun if I had more space in one reply. It seems like a replayable board game may be better for your group than mtg boosters, since you aren't looking for the rare bombs specifically, which is the main reason to get mtg boosters, and everything else mtg offers from draft in terms of chaos factor gameplay can be found in more plenty in board games.

you would probably be right, but MTG is something we all played at one point and we all have jobs now, so money isnt really and issue. You are definetly right its more about friends than the game.
Board game for 8-12 people is quite a rare thing tho
My point was that calling MtG the most predatory game ever is overreaction. Yes playing standard and extended (or whatever is it called these day) is for chumps, but as with many other things if you approach it like an adult MtG isnt all that bad. Even playing commander with some price limit will give you plenty of fun

Commander/EDH is great, because there aren't many banned cards in the format. That, and it being singleton 100 cards gives players an excuse to slot in cards they wouldn't have the space to use otherwise, as well as somewhat forcing decks to be less reliant on one tricks. There's a good reason people who don't like MtG still like Commander.
Even I like Commander. It's a glimpse at the game MtG really can be without the Wottocks bullshit interfering with it; a poetic observation given that EDH was an unofficial format originally.

yeah, even with one deck per player you get great variety and most people just build funn gimmick and not autistic combo
I bought a vampire and a pathfinder humble bundle and two big itch.io bundles, the racism and the ukraine one...but even then when I want something I just go online instead
They tend to come with part of the hard copy I buy unless its in pdf form only. I tend to print out my own after that, don't like using a computer at the table.
I always download a copy before paying for it to see if its a thing I will actually use. End up buying a lot more stuff that way than I otherwise would.
I haven't ever bought a wotc product though. Always seemed like shit since before even then.
If I'm not mistaken, you lose access to all that shit if you ever cancel your sub, or at least lose any reason to have even purchased the books, as they severely limit what an unpaid account can do with the service.
>Do I buy my PDFs?
Some of them, my group shares the files so we take turns buying this and that pdf, we've also been gaming together for more than 23 years.
I've bought a few, sometimes it's more convenient for how I use them, and there have been a few where I needed to be able to read and use a new book before the usual ports of call had stripped and uploaded them.
Digital literature isn't worth paying for unless you sink money into a specific device and I can't think of a more uncomfortable or impractical way to read something than sat at my PC or holding a tablet that's slowly running out of battery.
What PDF's are good for is try before you buy. I've bought several hard and softback books because I enjoyed the PDF.
I'll horde PDFs of stuff I find online. When i use stuff in games or find myself referencing a specific file a ton, i'll buy the PDF (or hardcopy if available). Unless its WoTC, then frick 'em
I buy the ones that look interesting. Some have even been worth grabbing a physical copy too.
I support good creators.
After the mess with WotC I think I'm done buying their products. I'm going to steer clear of kickstarter as well since they took WotC's side on things.
I have collected a lot of old out of print pdfs to preserve the data though. Deleting old books feels almost as bad as burning physical ones and they aren't that big a hassle to move around like hoarding an entire library of dead tree carcasses is.
Nope, but I buy physical books of systems I like. All of my actual books were pirated first, then purchased because I'm a stupid mammal that likes holding things.
Sometimes, sure. I think PDFs are handy for RPG books, though I prefer physical books for literature. Whether it's a physical book or a PDF, people making good stuff deserve to get paid for their work.
>Pirate from the known places >$0.00
And then WotC wonders why their revenue is down.
Also: >Digitally can only be bought at DnD Beyond or Fantasy Grounds >Which overcharge MASSIVELY >Can't buy on roll20 >Can't buy on other virtual table tops >Fantasy Grounds ($120+ before books microtransactions) ONLY or DnD Beyond.
Wizards is so goddamn moronic. It's baffling that 3.5E is on DriveThru but not 5E.
>Wizards is so goddamn moronic. It's baffling that 3.5E is on DriveThru but not 5E.
It really is some weird fricking shit. There's probably some asperger high-level suit who's on a personal crusade against piracy or something. Literally every 5e book is already easy to pirate as almost professional quality pdfs but WoTC still refuses to sell official pdfs. It would literally be free revenue for them.
I have never run a full one. I only nitpick ideas for ongoing adventures. Sometimes whole reskined dungeons.
I am thinking of doing a DnD crawl and taking my group through all the published modules back to back. Condensed and reworked of course. Official WOTC materiqls are absolute garbage to read and run RAW. Still not sure what system to use. Probably will cook up something custom to get the DnD feel.
Because 5e is bodersome to run an prep heavy. Monster blocks are too complicated and combat is too videogamy for my taste. Plus I run player facing systems only since I prefer focusing on running the game and random tables and letting the players live or die on their own merits.
The Idea is to spice things up with something more lighthearted then my regular campaigns. Hell, even I am exited for a party with demy-humans in it.
Don't know. Just to see what the DnD hype is about. I will rework them of course. It will be a learning experience for the mainstream side of the hobby.
And since the Forgotten Realms are pretty goofy players will have the chance to play non-humans for once. Also having classes and levels would be interesting experience for the players.
Also having the freedom of just puting goofy ass monsters left and right without actually thinking deeply why they are there.
Sounds like a nice fun break of pace.

Yeah. I guess I am looking forward to a more lighthearted game then my usual game of thrones- ish dark fantasy.
And I absolutely suck at lighthearted adventures. So having a kitchen sink farytale world like Forgotten Realms full of magic and weird races premade for me does the job. However I can't stomach the 5e system sadly and my players find it boring too.
No it is not complex it is combersome to run and play.
A wizard player and GM needs to rear through all 500 spells and know what they roughly do. All of hundreds custom class features and monster abilities. And balance all this soup to get an encounter that is not boring steamroll in eather way.
For example in my games I give my players XP that they can trade to create ability. They come up with what they want and I veto and balance it and we call it a day. They can use more xp to upgrade it and so on. No homework involved. "I want my wizard to develop a spell that allows him to build a wiker man and animate it using the freshly cut heart of an animal." Cool, we figure out the stats of the golem and time to prepare the ritual and probably some querks depending on the type of animal heart and we are done.
Creatures have hitDice, and special ability mapped on d6 that I roll at the start of turn to wee if ot will activate. Some have difficulty class. That's it.
Playing ttrpgs for 15 years. Many different systems and settings before I started homebrewing everything. I run TOTM only since I don't like minis (for rpg games that is. I love wargames and 3d print 1:100 armies all the time.)
I have not spent a single dollar even on dice. (All dice I have are gifts from players.)
Probably the only money I spend is for printing paper and printer ink. That would be around 10-20 pucks per year.
You can find every pdf you need for free. If you are going to spend money better do it on phonical indie stuff and not souless corpo larpers.
i honestly would if Paizo didn't degrade into an SJW fest... and still printed PF1 adventure paths.
but I have this rule about not willingly giving money to people who hate me and everything I like
>small good-aligned company is also super-liberal
Gosh, what a coincidence. But I'm sure rightoids will do their own version of ORC eventually. Because rightoids are so solution-minded they do things like this all the time right?
But I use piracy as a means to test-drive games on the regular. I even printed and played shit like Three-Dragon Ante just to find out whether I'd like it before actually investing in the cards.
Once I like something I support it though. I've bought lots of PDFs.
WotC NEEDS ti survive, it's the ONLY way D&D will fricking die. Jesus christ people, SUPPORT THEM! MAKE THE BIG YOUTUBERS AFRAID AND THEIR FANBASES WILL BREAK! Then you frickers can all wabk 4e when everyone has completely abandoned hope. The only way to completely free D&D from normies and CR shills and to let it die is to SUPPORT WOTC! DO IT!
No, next question?
Not since the new OGL. Pieces of shit are never getting another cent from me.

This. I have quit buying Magic as well. Frick Hasbro and JotC
>stops buying pdfs because they no longer like the company and not because they're paying money for pdfs
Some people do in fact have jobs that make buying the occasional RPG book a trivial expense
Its not about how much it costs its my way of israeliteing out GW
If buying story books for adults makes you feel better go for it but men it seems misrable

>Vampire HB
Why? It didn't include the 20th Anni (the one everyone wanted) but 5E.
Pathfinder and Cyberpunk, I could understand: Those were good bundles. But Vampire? Really?
the one I got was from before v5 was released, it came with the 1998 revised edition and a lot of owod supplements
Did it? I thought both Vampires were 5E. I would've gotten the 20th anniversary one, but I never saw it.
I prefer VtM5e
You might be a moron prefering V5 but at least it modtly goes to Humble Bundle charity instead of Paradox.
was there a itch bundles supporting racism?

I don't pay for bits and bytes that can be copied infinitely at no cost. I pay for physical media.
Haha, no. I either use free systems that use google docs or free systems that use pdfs. If I run/play 5e I use third party resources online.
If I were to play DnD, I would own all the pdfs. That is all I am willing to disclose on this matter.
I buy stuff on Humble every so often.

You can find every pdf you need for free. If you are going to spend money better do it on phonical indie stuff and not souless corpo larpers.
Are there still people on this site? I thought DnD is dead in the water?
i honestly would if Paizo didn't degrade into an SJW fest... and still printed PF1 adventure paths.
but I have this rule about not willingly giving money to people who hate me and everything I like
>small good-aligned company is also super-liberal
Gosh, what a coincidence. But I'm sure rightoids will do their own version of ORC eventually. Because rightoids are so solution-minded they do things like this all the time right?
From publishers and writers I like, yeah.
I never buy PDFs. I only use them to determine if the physical book is worth buying.
If I like the game, yes.
DO IT!
>The worst psyop ever created
Goddamn WotC shills are getting desperate.
They have been out in force lately too.
