I actually unironically called myself a gamer 20 years ago. Now though, people who call themselves gamers are just fricking awful. It was a different time back then. I can't call myself a gamer anymore, because I have nothing in common with modern socalled "gamers".

If X is your identity then you are not worth a damn because no one worth a damn has only one thing with which to describe themselves.

It is a factual thing that describes me but is not my entire identity, no.

not more than I'd call myself a watcher because I watch plenty of movies. this definition is moronic and came from homosexuals who are defined solely by their hobbies

    >Do you consider being a gamer as your identity?
As part of it, yes. Games are very important to me, I have even an academic interest in them.

I also have other things that complete my identity though. My family background, education, ties to the place where I live, my field of studies and research, interests in other media and subjects, hell, even my mental disorder is part of my identity, as much as I would rather it wasn't.

I would be silly to deny how big role games played in my life. Thankfully, at this point, there is no reason to do so either, nobody sees it as weird anymore.

I feel sorry for the people who choose to label their entire being with a singular part of their life. You can be multiple other things and still be a gamer. Be multifaceted, be more complex. Don't be a basic b***h.

no, my friends see me as being incredibly insightful and witty. I have far more life experience to draw from than a "gamer." I have far more video game experience to draw from as well; keeping up with nerd shit in my advancing age is pretty much mandatory these days because it seems like the vast majority of people that are able to actually hold a good conversation are nerds
