There was a massive pandemic that disrupted the entire world for 18-24 months during that 3 year time period. The amount of games set to release in 2021 and 2022 that were pushed back as a result of said pandemic is staggeringly higher than any other period to date.

I bought one. I like it a fair bit, but that's mostly driven out of how much I hated the PS4. Most of my PS5 time has been spent just going through PS4 games because they run better and it's a nice change of pace to sitting at my PC. No exclusives have made it worth while obviously, but once the flood of Final Fantasy games start next year it'll have been worth it. Only major complaint is the lack of XMB customization and the fact the controllers are ridiculously expensive yet suffer from drift like a c**t.
Yeah, it seems to run them fine. I think it basically runs like akin to a PS4Pro, and some that have had an official PS5 upgrade seem to be better in every regard. I imagine games that never got a pro patch probably still run pretty ass, probably worth looking into before taking the plunge

There are no worthwhile new games, but you can finally play some old games without turbine and at more than 20fps.
I bought a big flagship OLED late last year which is influencing how much I like playing the new consoles. I prefer the PS5 to the Series X but that might change when games actually start coming out again next year.
Exactly why I want one lol I got the LG C1, my 5 year old PC can't perform well on it, upgrading means I have to build a whole new system which costs too much and better to wait for RTX 4000 anyway since its so close to coming out, so I was looking into the PS5, but haven't decided yet.

Like the ps4, a lot of those features aren't in the firmware yet, or at least haven't been activated. I think usb music/save storage are being held back as a means of introducing new features the longer Sony fricks up.
I stand corrected. Still locking saves behind ps+ is a feature I don't see lasting for another two years, BOTW2 and Gamepass are going to push Sony California to the brink

currently you can move games to cloud storage and vice versa. On the ps5, you can transfer ps4 saves to a usb to backup remotely, or use savewizard to cheat. You cannot do that with ps5 saves despite the fact that the firmware is fully capable of doing just that. It's kinda ok for now seeing as there are no games for ps5, but in 5 years time when they discontinue ps4 games it's going to suck for people like me who want to skip the grind

Most likely Sony will never unlock the ability to move game saves to USB, to avoid any security holes.
Vita never got the feature, which was another reason why the memory cards were such an enormous pain in the ass.

i mostly use it to play PS4 games. i started out just buying games if they were PS exclusive, console exclusive, or had shitty DRM on PC, but then i just started buying any multiplats that don't run like shit because i like physical copies and it's easier to take the PS5 to a friend's house than a PC.
some annoying features are certain PS4 games ignoring your recording quality settings, screenshots always saving as 3840x2160 instead of the game's resolution, some stuff like game demos not being whitelisted for back compat. no 1440p support sucked but i have the beta firmware with it and it works fine, it'll be nice once everyone has it.
I like it a lot. The games all play well, the controller is great, and the new PS + is pretty comfy.
I think it will be irrelevant in a few years though because Sony keeps releasing less and less new games and what few games they do have they seem to be porting to PC right away. That doesn’t make a difference for me because I don’t intend on ever buying a gaming PC. But for others, you might want to consider investing in a PC instead.

I have one. don't play it nearly as much as my seriesX. I have spent the last year playing Forza H5, sea of thieves, AC Origins/Valhalla, Flight Simulator, RDR2, D2 just to name a few. I find that multiplats run way better on series x and the exclusives are good enough to keep me on the Xbox.
other than Forbidden West there is not much keeping me on the ps5. I might play returnal soon but the "no games" meme isn't even a meme. ragnarok is prob the only game im looking forward to but I don't see anything else that has me hyped to keep gaming on the ps5. the battery life on the controller sucks ass too, i feel like I'm always charging that shit. the state of play

There hasn't been any recent games that I've really been looking forward to on any console or pc. Returnal is a pretty good game. I guess God of War will be good.

I have one and right now I only use it as a genshin machine so I don't need to have chinese spyware on my pc. The coil whine is pretty annoying but the noise goes down by about half in genshin when you open map. Waiting for FF16 and FF7R rebirth.
I love it, but you need to be okay with the fact that 90% of the games you'll be playing on it are PS4 games. It's still worth it in my opinion because it plays PS4 games a frick ton better than PS4 or PS4 Pro can (Monster Hunter World for example is night and day), but I understand that for a lot of people if there's no console exclusives then what's the point. To each their own. Luckily I have a huge PS4 library and a lot of games take advantage of the PS5's power without even needing a PS5 upgrade, due to having unlocked framerates. Even then, most PS4 games nowadays are either released with free PS5 upgrades or they're added later.
As for noise, the system is completely silent for me unless it's playing a game that isn't capped at 60fps. Games with fully unlocked framerates cause coil whine because of how hard it's pushing the system. A good example and way to test this is to boot up Aragami on PS5. Go into the settings and turn off vsync, then listen to the system - you'll hear the coil whine pretty clearly. Turn vsync back on and the system will go back to being completely silent. Unfortunately there's a few games that don't offer the option, so you're stuck playing them with that noise until the developers decide to patch it.
I got one through Amazon via preorder. I like it, I had sold my PS4 Pro a month prior and put the $320 I got for it toward the PS5. So $180 for a generational upgrade wasn't bad at all. Working through a massive last gen backlog still with the occasional current gen game here and there, which is more than I can say for the PS4's launch since it didn't have BC.

I bought one. I like it a fair bit, but that's mostly driven out of how much I hated the PS4. Most of my PS5 time has been spent just going through PS4 games because they run better and it's a nice change of pace to sitting at my PC. No exclusives have made it worth while obviously, but once the flood of Final Fantasy games start next year it'll have been worth it. Only major complaint is the lack of XMB customization and the fact the controllers are ridiculously expensive yet suffer from drift like a c**t.

Yeah, it seems to run them fine. I think it basically runs like akin to a PS4Pro, and some that have had an official PS5 upgrade seem to be better in every regard. I imagine games that never got a pro patch probably still run pretty ass, probably worth looking into before taking the plunge

I bought a big flagship OLED late last year which is influencing how much I like playing the new consoles. I prefer the PS5 to the Series X but that might change when games actually start coming out again next year.

currently you can move games to cloud storage and vice versa. On the ps5, you can transfer ps4 saves to a usb to backup remotely, or use savewizard to cheat. You cannot do that with ps5 saves despite the fact that the firmware is fully capable of doing just that. It's kinda ok for now seeing as there are no games for ps5, but in 5 years time when they discontinue ps4 games it's going to suck for people like me who want to skip the grind

i mostly use it to play PS4 games. i started out just buying games if they were PS exclusive, console exclusive, or had shitty DRM on PC, but then i just started buying any multiplats that don't run like shit because i like physical copies and it's easier to take the PS5 to a friend's house than a PC.
some annoying features are certain PS4 games ignoring your recording quality settings, screenshots always saving as 3840x2160 instead of the game's resolution, some stuff like game demos not being whitelisted for back compat. no 1440p support sucked but i have the beta firmware with it and it works fine, it'll be nice once everyone has it.
I like it a lot. The games all play well, the controller is great, and the new PS + is pretty comfy.
I think it will be irrelevant in a few years though because Sony keeps releasing less and less new games and what few games they do have they seem to be porting to PC right away. That doesn’t make a difference for me because I don’t intend on ever buying a gaming PC. But for others, you might want to consider investing in a PC instead.

I love it, but you need to be okay with the fact that 90% of the games you'll be playing on it are PS4 games. It's still worth it in my opinion because it plays PS4 games a frick ton better than PS4 or PS4 Pro can (Monster Hunter World for example is night and day), but I understand that for a lot of people if there's no console exclusives then what's the point. To each their own. Luckily I have a huge PS4 library and a lot of games take advantage of the PS5's power without even needing a PS5 upgrade, due to having unlocked framerates. Even then, most PS4 games nowadays are either released with free PS5 upgrades or they're added later.
As for noise, the system is completely silent for me unless it's playing a game that isn't capped at 60fps. Games with fully unlocked framerates cause coil whine because of how hard it's pushing the system. A good example and way to test this is to boot up Aragami on PS5. Go into the settings and turn off vsync, then listen to the system - you'll hear the coil whine pretty clearly. Turn vsync back on and the system will go back to being completely silent. Unfortunately there's a few games that don't offer the option, so you're stuck playing them with that noise until the developers decide to patch it.

I got one through Amazon via preorder. I like it, I had sold my PS4 Pro a month prior and put the $320 I got for it toward the PS5. So $180 for a generational upgrade wasn't bad at all. Working through a massive last gen backlog still with the occasional current gen game here and there, which is more than I can say for the PS4's launch since it didn't have BC.

I kind of regret buying one. I mainly got one for Elden Ring pvp because PC became a ghost town. I then got completely burned out after another 100 hours or so and now it's just collecting dust. Any game coming out for it that I might be interested in is also getting released on PC so I'm considering selling it.
