I like games where you're motivated to grind to unlock things and not just grinding to increase my stats or get an ability which increasing damage in order to beat a boss

So why wouldn't you want to play the two genres of games that are the biggest source of grind, and the ones that it fits best?
          >recommend me a car but I don't want it to have four wheels
          >recommend me a mtf troony to grind Guitar Hero post-game with but it can't be one that WNTBAW

    Depends on the reward
The most fun thing to grind for are things with visible changes like new classes or equipment

I've never seen Ganker talk about Disgaea 7 at all even though it will be released next week in Japan.
Was D6 really so bad it killed the threads?

the announcement threads were pretty positive from what I recall.

It looks like they were fixing all the complaints people had from 6.
Though I need someone else to confirm if weapon skills are back or not. They released a new showcase video early this month, and it seems like they're only showing unique class skills, and there are no weapon skills in sight.

I remain skeptical that they fixed the issues with auto battle. Costing resources to use doesn't automatically make it not intrusive on enjoyment if the game is still balanced around it and the resource is piss easy to get anyways.

D6 is horrible. You don't even play the game. It's just automatic. Literally the zoomiest game ever made. Even the gacha has gone to shit. It's really sad how far the franchise has fallen.

Even if d6 wasn't that bad, it's still not going to get the positive reception the older ones did because 3d modelling is cheap, lazy and ugly compared to the spritework that people were used to. There's no getting around that

Thinking about it. Disgaea games are actually among the first incremental games. Far older than Cookie Clicker.
    >everything is tiered
    >ludicrous amounts of mechanics just for make number go bigger
    >gameplay loops repeatedly as you item world from each item tier to the next
    >reincarnation is basically a form of ascension
There just happened to be an RPG under it. Now we have idle/incremental games that branch back into being RPGs.

I just played Soul Nomad & the World Eaters. I thought it was alright, a bit simplistic as both a strategy game and a RPG and fairly easy to boot. How similar is it to Disgaea gameplay?

Disgaea is more engaging gameplay wise. Soul Nomad really only shines for the characters and story.

I really hated Danette at first but I'd be lying if I said by the end she wasn't at least a little endearing. Also thought the ending was a bit rushed but whatever. What's the usual recommended starting point for trying out Disgaea? 1?

I miss when NIS was putting out random one offs like this instead of just Yomawari clones and the odd Disgaea.

I mean, they still do. Whether they're good or not is another story though.

I even loved Lapis x Labyrinth so I'm okay with it

The leveling your stats with food part is fun enough, but there aren't enough weapon, abilities or skills to spice up the combat and no story to keep your interest and break up levels hurts it. Very meh overall.

If the grinding is mandatory, frick no.
If I feel like grinding in order to steamroll a boss, yes.

sure do when they're designed well and made to be fun.
grinding in disgaea is fast and rewarding and allows you to min max your grinding in like 50 different ways.
grinding in some shit like path of exile on the other hand is the exact opposite in every way, and is thus not remotely enjoyable.
