I compared both scenarios back in the day and it actually sounds like Roebuck's flat and phoning it in about Polonski's death, whereas Polonski sounds completely distraught that they killed the Sarge and wants to kill them all in retaliation.
I wanted Roebuck to live but it's clear they intended it so Polanski survived.
