As a trilogy it's pretty mediocre with the way characters get rewritten and/or assassinated between games but individually they are great games
The Witcher games are exactly the same in this regard

Witcher games don’t come close. Witcher 1 I liked as a weird European rpg. Witcher 2 tho is not good. Never even tried Witcher 3 as I despised that they decided to go open world.

    Mass Effect 1: 10/10
    Mass Effect 2: 7/10
    Mass Effect 3: 6/10

But no, we never will. The atmosphere, character building, writing, immersion were all top notch.

I think ME2 is at least an 8/10. omega is great.

2 pisses me off because it just ignored the big threat from the first game, had most characters from the first game just frick off and forget saving the universe, and pretty much all introduced characters frick off by the third game again.
Seriously, individually they aren't terrible games, but as total package they are god damn mess story wise to an unforgivable degree in any other medium.

I think a lot of the stuff they introduce around Mordin and Miranda are important in 3, but you're right everything else pretty much falls off in 3. I don't know what they were thinking with the plot of the game.

Me2 is a 9/10 game. Don’t let me3 spoil the individual game. Prior to me3 I thought me2 was an amazing game. I was blown away. It was right after I painted dragon age origins and even then I could tell mass effect 2 was on another level

Individually, ignoring the story and focusing on gameplay, ME2 was a pretty steep downgrade from ME1 and it leaned really hard into cover shooter bullshit.

You can’t just focus on the gameplay you have to look at the game in total. The party member interactions, the planets you go to, the atmosphere of the game.

    Choices didn't matter.
    Character relationships didn't matter.
    Nothing mattered.
Each game got WORSE in the series overall too.
Frick, I hope we don't get anything like it again.
From a story perspective 2 might as well never have happened at all.

About to play legendary edition for the first time - which is better Male Shep or FemShep?

I can't stand Mark Meer's voice so I'm leaning towards FemShep

Do shepard first and then femshep.

If you're sensitive to bad acting you should go with mark. Jen hadn't gone through proper acting training until the second game.

Like pretty much every choice in the series, it doesn't matter at all.
Also, go full renegade. The game doesn't give a shit either way so you might as well be cartoonishly dickish.

The removal of weapon force was the single worst gameplay change to happen in the transition from the first game to its sequel.

Why are we suddenly getting mass effect threads, can I ask?

It's the time of the year where Ganker replays the trilogy, I just beat ME1 myself and am moving onto 2.

They are making a new one. They decided to drop the Andromeda storyline too. Supposedly that game eventually wound up being pretty solid, but it was INCREDIBLY bad at launch.

I’m a huge fan of the trilogy still never touched andromeda outside of a timed demo when it released I remember kinda liking the combat

I think it's because the remaster collection was on sale for less than $10 during the last couple Steam sales.
I'd accuse Bioware of astroturfing but the new (undoubtedly shit) Mass Effect is still an age away. A Dragon Age that is.

I am praying that DA4 flops so we don't see the assrape of ME that is ME4. I know it won't happen, but I wish it did.

Actually Andromeda's numbered with A and not 4 so the next game will be a 4.

Yes but it was ass rape in the letter A, not in the number 4.

Now THAT'S a series of vidya that came out strong as hell then kept on trying it's level best to be the biggest piece of shit ever made from the second game onward.

have you ever thought that maybe what you say is correct in that there is a relation, but it's an inverted scenario where bot shills are dispatched to v right before the 10usd sale, as well as this new upcoming me5 trailer

as contrarian as v likes to think it is, it's still a behemoth of a internet video game forum and if someone tells me this site isn't used by bot shills I simply will not believe that is even possible

For all of the Mass Effect trilogy's flaws it still did something that I don't think any major studio will ever have the creative ambition and sheer balls to ever attempt again.

It's a miracle to get one big single-player character-driven RPG out the door these days. No big-name publisher is going to back the idea of a whole overarching story-branching trilogy all being released on the same console generation.
