Yes, but I don't think having Pokemon in our world will just magically solve all our societal problems.
Honestly might exacerbate A LOT of them, especially if it's sudden. I mean, imagine if they suddenly fell into the hands of extremist terrorists. A Pokemon like Flareon could probably melt the armor of a tank!
Though, there is merit in saying that almost everyone has a Pokemon, because now the 10x more likely good guy has a Pokemon.
I don't think it would be like that. Pokemon are more than just guns. While they can be used for violence they can also be used to help society, like generating clean energy for cities or for campanionship. Guns on the other hand don't do much else besides lob slugs of lead at supersonic speeds. I say this as a gun owner, its not fair to compare the two.
Guns aren't the only product of industry. Van Diesel wouldn't be a thing if we had infinite energy from Pokemon. We'd be lobotomizing Pokemon to use their biology to power society.
I don't think it would be quite like that either. Even in our current society obsessed with exploiting animals, there are still laws and regulations regarding ethical treatment of livestock. In the Pokemon world it would be far more complicated because Pokemon are also far more powerful than just cows.
>Even in our current society obsessed with exploiting animals, there are still laws and regulations regarding ethical treatment of livestock.
In this case, you're harvesting core biological components as the basis of your industry, and this will have been the norm for people throughout history, from the ancient age and going forward. Killing the Pokemon instead of merely lobotomizing them would be the "Abolitionism" of such a world. >In the Pokemon world it would be far more complicated because Pokemon are also far more powerful than just cows.
Yes, because cows are domestic animals. Pokemon would be too.
Cows aren't capable of literally summoning Earthquakes. And many animals in the real world just aren't capable of being domesticated. And in addition, if Pokemon have more uses than just meat, it wouldn't make much sense to just harvest Pokemon meat in most cases. It would be much more accurate to compare Pokemon to horses actually. Horse meat in the real world is considered taboo in most western societies for example, because horses have utility more valuable than their meat. Pokemon, I suspect, would be much the same in that regard.

>Cows aren't capable of literally summoning Earthquakes.
Most newborn Pokemon aren't, either. >And many animals in the real world just aren't capable of being domesticated.
Due to lifespan issues, but all it takes is one Pokemon with potential access to flamethrower having a short enough lifespan and the right temperament... >And in addition, if Pokemon have more uses than just meat, it wouldn't make much sense to just harvest Pokemon meat in most cases.
If your concerns are simply obtaining a consistent source of food, you may not have much ability to use them for more than that. >It would be much more accurate to compare Pokemon to horses actually. Horse meat in the real world is considered taboo in most western societies for example
Yeah, in the modern world. However, you can't power a car or an early factory using just horse muscles. The same can't be said for flareon sacs or Charizard tails.

>Due to lifespan issues
Its a lot more complicated than that actually. Its believed some animals have a higher degree of genetic malleability. Its the reason its so easy to just create new dog breeds yet some animals have never evolved for millions of years. Turns out biology is more complex than that. Its the reason dogs are no longer wolves and chickens are no longer Junglefowl. Nothing to do with lifespan

It's not solely a matter of lifespan, but lifespan does factor in. It's the reason Elephants are regularly tamed from youth, but not domesticated.
Yeah, this argument works way better for firearms because firearms are in fact inanimate objects. Pokemon on the other hand are actually living things.
No, and even if they were they would be extinct or regulated so much that the world would only be shitter as the government would have all the Pokemon.
In a way. Maybe if society had evolved with Pokémon it would be a hell of a better place than it is now. If Pokémon were magically to appear in todays shitfest? I don't know. It could fix things having pure, good hearted beings able to connect with people who so badly need connection nowadays, but it could easily be the fuel to a very, very bad fire.
If pokemon were real, human history and development would take such a different turn that a modern society in such world would look pretty much alien to us. It's useless trying to imagine how it would look like through the projection of aspects that are unique to our own world.
Pokemon couldn't even really exist within our understanding of physics, so in that care, reality itself would be different. The mere existence of firetype and electric types imply you're somehow able to create more energy into a system than you put in. Our universe couldn't exist if Pokemon were real if we really wanted to be pedantic. Reality itself would have to be different.
"Were" is correct in OP's sentence due it being in the English subjunctive mood. Most native speakers don't even know the subjunctive mood exists, which is saddening.
Whether you're referring to something that's singular (e.g., world of Pokémon) or plural (e.g., Pokémon creatures), the subjunctive means you have to use "were" for both. Anon was expressing a wish/desire for something that isn't true, so his sentence can't be in the indicative.
But that's an interesting interpretation you offer, thanks. I wouldn't have thought to read it that way.
Anons who are being cynical are seriously underestimating the strength of pokemon, we are taking beings that can destroy and create universe, contol time and space, control abstract things like emotions, etc. If pokemon aregood beings just like in the games/anime they would easily be able to stop any evil humans, even change them. Earth will mostly turn into an utopia like rhat in the anime.
Every single day of my life
Ja, who wouldn't?
fpbp

Doubt it would hurt though
No, war and serial killers would have a field day.

Pokémon don't kill people, people kill people.

Consider the impact on history, and shudder with fear.
maybe if legendaries didnt exist
What? You'd want legendaries to exist if pokemon became real. Who else will keep the humans in check?
No, and even if they were they would be extinct or regulated so much that the world would only be shitter as the government would have all the Pokemon.
>the government
Which one?
The real one, were they are immune to the plebs.
And decide the fates of nations daily.
Only Gengar, Kingler and Shroomish
>sopa de Aipom
>uma delicia

I’d rather just go to the pokemon world honestly
Yes, but only if animals in the real world get to stay
Yes, but only so I can find an Absol and marry her.
Why did the artist blasian-code absol
Blaisan-code?
Yes. When I was younger I always wanted a companion that I felt understood me

Yes. I used to pray every night from like 8-13 that Pokémon could be real. I wish with all my heart.
Yes :’(
It’s not that I want Pokémon to be real in this world, it’s that I would want to be in the Pokémon world
I wish that Pokemon was real, not that Pokemon were real.

Would Electrode and Voltorb be aloud on public transportation?
No they'd be quiet
possibly.
Yes but eating meat would have been difficult.
