Unironically Genshin is a low spending game unless you want c6. Just by buying welkin you can basically get everyone with just a liiiiittle bit of luck. It makes no sense to start burning out the casuals now when it's gone so well so far. They're not aching for revenue.

the characters they've built are extremely high quality and capable of making a lasting impression. I believe it's part of their business strategy to not "dilute" the characters and make them look like just-another-anime-character.
i think you will be seeing chars like mona and fischl in their games in 20 years still, and you'll see some person with a mona shirt or a fischl shirt or something within 5 years.
costumes have a diminishing return in genshin because every costume you get means less currency for you to roll future characters which in turn makes you less invested in the game because you dont have new characters.
It's smarter to just release skins periodically in order to not disrupt the economy of players.
