Nah, Nintendo just overshipped it on launch. They said this themselves. When it had 18.5m shipped, they said they had only sold 15m. Nintendo doesn't usually overship games so it was abit surprising.
>Never played a zelda game before and just tried it on a whim and I was blown away
Same here. It shits on this pathetic excuse for an industry so hard I just can't take critics seriously.

how the hall have you niggas gotten this far in life and only now played a zelda game?
No. It was >wait 2 more years than necessary >to play the exact same game, but now you can occasionally stick things together >shitty durability system wasn't removed, they doubled down on it >and then effectively took out item duplication because fuck you, wallow in an empty open world for hours waiting for shit to respawn
And this 3D Zelda from now on.
They cut a lot of content from BotW and thought it would still make a decent game.
The problem is that not only did they cut most of this content for a reason, but the core appeal of BotW was already exhausted. They also missed the window where people were still excited about the game and didn't even manage to completely blow expectations out of the water.
They went out of their way to leak the game for emulators and boost launch discourse, but that only goes so far.
>This is 3D Zelda from now on
The only reason this happened is because they are now so incompetent that they can't schedule their videogame releases concurrently with their console releases. They blundered their way into a multiplat release by cutting most of the story, mechanics and content of their game for time.
They're not going to release another Wii U showcase game years after the Wii U has died.
game launch was huge, but big drop off when its basically a copy paste of the first game. shouldve left it as dlc. Weird though that they spent so much time on it, I doubt this was the game they were fully working on for 5 years

>“It sold ONLY 15 million in 6 months, so that means it was bad”.
I like how only Ganker contrarians are unironically this delusional.
No one talks about it now. It had the longevity of a Call of Duty game.
there are seethe threads about it every day just like botw
I was going to buy it physically but they were offering the vouchers and I decided to save money that way.
Maybe something to do with the fact that everybody already played it in 2017.
holy shit no legs
It was the same fucking game. They sold us the same map again. No shit it came and went.
I knew this would happen as soon as I saw that it was a "excitement? why don't you make the excitement for yourself" type of game.
(like, do you think gary's mod would be ever heard of again if it was single player/offline?)
The issue is that you can’t talk about Nintendo games online without retards sperging at you about how it ‘failed.’
So we just use discord and private communities.
it's a crappy glorified dlc to an already mediocre game
I mean, if you sell 16 million copies it's pretty likely everyone who's going to buy it already did.
Totk is my goty though. Never played a zelda game before and just tried it on a whim and I was blown away

Been a pc gamer my whole life and zelda looked like boring kiddie shit so never even bothered to emulate
They did absolutely nothing with Ganon & it shows in the sales

It was a glorified DLC.
There's nothing to do in the game.
The novelty wears off quickly, every shrine was garbage
Zelda games don't give me a journey with their stories, so I forget them, quickly.
BG3 came out like 3 months after wtf do you mean
people are just tired of switch it's been 6-7 years
No-one's talking about BG3 either any more.
