DRG is one of those games where you’re either hooked right away and obsessed, or you know it’s not for you. If the game doesn’t grab you in 10 hours or less, don’t expect anything from it.

Personally, I put like 300 hours in less than 4 months. I really enjoyed my time in the game before I unlocked everything. I’ll still go in and do missions every once in a while if my pals want to play.

No, but they have a 1 time pop-up when they announce new things they drop.
          >battle passes
The thing about the "Battle pass" in this game is it's not. The seasons are 100% progressed by playing the fricking game. You pay nothing, and in fact, you CAN'T pay anything to get more from it. It's not there. It's just a free incentive to play.
          >multiplayer prompts every time you start the game?
The game doesn't harass you to play online, but playing with others is a part of the UI when you choose missions. Do what you want but how the classes work together is the real draw here.

srs? It was the opposite for me. The game was most fun completing haz 5 missions solo or duo with a shoestring build, and slowly making them easier with upgrades. Now that I've got some good stuff it's agonizingly boring to play.

DRG is a fun game, but its engagement lvl is in the gutter as far as coop games go.

Not only because of the generally low difficulty but combat itself is so simple, most people lose interest fairly quickly.

When I first played it I was like "wow this is amazing, why did you tell me to get vermintide instead?", until like 3 weeks later when I got utterly bored of DRG due to its low engagement. There's no skill ceiling or anyhting. Nothing to get better at, nothing to optimize.
I still come back to it from time to time, because as said, its fun. But its not a "main game" or anything. For that, its engagement level is too low.

Gunner’s at his most engaging in haz 5, because that’s where the versatility comes in.
In lower difficulties most things die before you have a chance to really ramp up

  10. 1 year ago

Unironically higher difficulties, in haz 3 and below you can tank and kill everything so gunner feels pretty redundant while in haz 4 and 5 your shield bubble and massive sustained DPS becomes unvaluable

I'd argue even in haz 4 its not needed in haz 5 maybe a gunner is needed

nah you can't really tank more than 2 or 3 hits in haz 4, hence why so many people get stuck on it because haz 3 and lower incorrectly taught them it was ok to tank the hits and get their shit pushed in in haz 4

DRG or gunner? Yes to both questions, gunner gets more useful the more bugs and threats there are to shoot so on lower difficulties he may seem boring but on haz 5 and modded he's incredibly fun because you actually get to use his guns properly. Sam for DRG in general, the harder the haz the funner the game although playing with randoms is just not fun for me and I haven't done it in hundreds of hours so I can't say anything about quickplay

  16. 1 year ago

I was in the same spot: Picked gunner while my friends went Scout and Driller. While I could kill stuff well, they could too without any issue.

The fun started when we went into some higher Hazard tiers and they couldn't kill everything on their own. I got to use zip lines for blanket firing, the needle shooting of the minigun to surgically kill bugs around swarmed teammates, use the grenades to make space and the shield for ressing several downed at once.

None of the other friends wanted to play at that difficulty anymore and interest just waned from there.

If you want to be sweaty you can practice power attacking walls as you zip to them to make cubby holes to mine from.

Otherwise just keep your eyes on the roof of the cave for threats and minerals, ping both and kill the former. Your weapons are best suited to that.

Hoverclock or special powder can save you from a lot of embarrassment. Sixth sense also does this by giving you grabber/cave leech insurance.

All of your grenades are good. If you aren't constantly out when you resupply you aren't spamming them enough.

Don't run off ahead of the team unless you actually have a good reason.
