Ganker hates everything.
if one game in a series is bad ever then "ackshually, series was always shit"
unironically don't trust the board, make your own opinion
>People were just unhappy with the sequels and because the CEO is a pervert weirdo
People were unhappy with the sequels because the writing was absolute garbage and a lot of the humor was almost as cringe inducing as the lead writer's lack of sex life, especially for the DnDish DLC which was full of garbage like "hahaha how about those whacky MMO player amirite hahaha how about those Dark Souls invaders amirite" type jokes
The guy that got his wii taken so his wife's boyfriend could play Mad World. The guy that has a shrill sounding sister that plays the most obnoxious character in the series after Ava.
He's referring too Anthony Burch. Dude literally talked his wife into an open relationship so he could try having sex with dudes. homosexual couldn't get any dick but his wife most certainly did so she divorced him and ran off with his Wii U
The games are actually good but the writing is honestly that fucking horrid that it's not worth it. Honestly I couldn't even finish 3 because of how fucking annoying the writing is.
The first one was one of the most viral marketed games on Ganker. Once the viral marketing died down, and people could actually get their opinions out, it was kinda meh.
It's fine. Finishing my last playthrough now.
It's not as fun as later entries, bit less annoying as well.
Mordecai > Lilith > Roland > Brick (only because they don't scale his melee properly. his launcher builds are better, but I want a melee build shitheads)
Just play BL2 with BL2Fix and UCP, the vanilla game had way too many underpowered garbage (most e-tech weapons are trash for example) and unironic MMO tier grind drop rates and these mods fixes it.
I have 2000 hours and have reinstalled it 15 times. YESS. you'll still be able to find a co op on a new playthrough, DO NOT replay it solo. its not even worth it solo
No. BL2 is fucking dog shit. >one of the worst stories I have ever had the displeasure of playing through >every character suffers from severe flanderization >absolute horrendous dialouge >some of the ugliest guns I have ever scene >every gun has a forced gimmick >shit level scaling >an awful weapon part system that makes looting dogshit becaue 80% of any given drop will be trash >lack of good looting alternatives outside of farming a 10% drop from a boss >every raid boss being a copy paste of a mob but BIGGER >slag
>story: it's not absolutely terrible for a 2011 game, still better than BL1 which was more like a lack of story >flanderization: of who? The original 4 cast+5 returning characters from BL1? Not like they had much personality in the first place. >dialogue: Jack being an insufferable shithead is kind of the point, as for most other dialogues it's most of them are just "hey can you go here and do this kthxbye" >weapon gimmicks: some gimmicks are utter dogshit like Hyperion sniper rifles sure, but for most of the other brands BL2 really gave them an identity instead of "oh this manufacturer has higher stats in these category but shittier in these other stuff" that BL1 STRICTLY had >level scaling: you can just grab a save editor and edit your perfect roll gun/shield that is underleveled if you really insist, otherwise it's valid criticism since refarming your entire gear every 5 level is just ass unless you also just edit your save to be at max level so that the scaling stops >weapon part/lootdrop: fair, farming 2shot Harold is just ass >boss designs: some of the DLC raid bosses are pretty bad but the base game ones aren't that bad >slag: valid, unless you play Axton with slag turret so you don't have to pay the slag weapon slot tax
>more like a lack of story
A lack of one is better than a trash one. >"hey can you go here and do this kthxbye"
You forgot adding 500% more snide shittism to pad it out.
"Oh hey, I'm super sure you're so busy and all that but my hands are super tied right now. So please do that thing 500 miles out in the middle of bumfuck nowhere if it's not too much trouble. Good? greaaaaaat" >save editor
That really isn't a point towards the game's favor in the slightest. Devil May Cry autists resort to cheat engine to give the game some resemblance of challenge like making every enemy DT in LDK or some shit because the games are a fuck up that doesn't mean the fuck up no longer exists.
>story: it's not absolutely terrible for a 2011 game, still better than BL1 which was more like a lack of story
BL 1 story was good because of what BL was supposed to be. It's a weird sci-fi, mad max indie comic world. You're just some wanderer out to find the legendary treasure and it just haporns that while you wander you run in to other problems and people. It's the perfect set up and introduction to the world and has enough objective and plot to keep you in. BL didn't really need anything deep or a crazy over arching plot and even still no story is better than the unironic meme slop of the sequels.
Boring ass shit game that is too pussy to be like what it's trying to re-create, politically incorrect '90's. It's the safest, blandest, milquetoast games there are. The shooting gets somewhat decent as the titles go up, but the dialogue gets as cringe too.
>do side quests >become horribly over-leveled and everything becomes a slog >the most 'optimal' way to play the games is to avoid most side quests until playthrough 2 where you can then also tackle the DLC (can't do them on the first playthrough though hehe)
i'm on the mindset where i want the first time i play a game to be as nearly complete as humanly possible, and the potential second run just adds onto the overall experience by introducing new things. i shouldn't (essentially) be forced to purposefully miss out on content just so my 2nd time playing can be more fun than the first. why should i have 60% fun?
Not really. It popularized looter shooters but that's literally the only thing it has going for it. The guns which are the main draw of the game are boring and mostly feel the same. Doesn't help that they had yet to expand on the gun generation system yet so the only notable difference between gun brands is their color scheme and stats.
Basically compared to a lot of looter shooters that came after it, it's pretty weak. The story isn't as bad as 2 or 3 but that's mostly because there's barely even a story to begin with
My only memories of this game are tripping on LSD while playing Brick
I just remember him constantly screaming and berserk punching ant lion looking bugs as they exploded into various colors of blood and viscera one after the other
i was struggling to set the right quest in the menu and my friend kept repeating over and over "SEEK OUT TANNIS"
SEEK OUT TANNIS
SEEK OUT TANNIS
SEEK OUT TANNIS
All 3 games are mindless but fun. Each installment is missing something that the others got right but overall the series is over hated, especially on Ganker
I give you gameplay, but I can't remember a single soundtrack from 3 and the visuals are terrible. Every character looks like a bobblehead and Gearbox really upped the ugliness on the characters.
The story matters since BL3 is filled with unskippable things and every other objective is "go kiss the ground under Lilith's feet". Half of that game really feels like that I was playing a game where I have to watch an unskippable several minute long advertisement every so often.
1≥2>>>>>>>>>3
1+s: No plot, proficiencies, alien weapons, Dr ned dlc
1-s: Same-y equipment, could've had more skill tree stats, even if only a few
2+s: badass stats, much more diverse (and fun) classes, way more ways to play, utilizing various combos of skills, equipment, and mods, numerous meta activities (albeit some of those meta assets broke the balance)
2-s: plot, the eventual broken balance
3+s:
3-s: plot (again, seeing a pattern), overcorrected combat to the point where rarer loot means nothing, classes aren't fun, kills are more skill based than utilizing skill+equipment (if that's a positive for you, there's plenty of other games where that's the fucking point), woke shit rolled into plot/ dlc...
You know what? Everything, EVERYTHING about 3 was awful
Never played PS or Tina shenanigans, so I don't have an opinion on them
The Pre-Sequel had some neat experimental gimmicks in the weapons, characters, and some mechanics, but otherwise it feels like a 2/3rd finished game, makes you wish that someone would add the stuff it did right into BL2 if only for novelty.
yeah having replayed all of them recently I'd have to agree with this. BL1's old-ass UE version makes it sorta jank to run on modern PCs. 2 is a little better in that regard but still has some problems. 3 runs fantastically and the gameplay has tons of QoL so as a result it's more fun to play
its not a bad game but the sequels were just way better. 1's skill trees and extremely rudimentary. modded 2 is still fucking great to this day. tps is really fun but its just too damn short.
"enhanced" is more convenient since it includes a bunch of qol improvements you don't have get with a bunch of ini edits and other tools like you do with original.
>Does it still hold up? Kind of want to replay it.
it's ok, but like always it has problems. >every borderlands game starts out way too fucking slow, your run speed is atrocious if you aren't playing siren and spamming phasewalk all day >you actually have a chance of decent loot dropping during a normal playthrough in the first game unlike the others were you HAVE to farm 10% drops on bosses >any level difference between you and a higher level enemy is punished severely, you really need to be on the same level to have a decent time >the setting is fairly interesting but the games don't focus on that >some skills aren't worth getting ever >vehicle combat sucks >final boss is underwhelming, including the final dlc boss
being the only decent looter shooter series, it's fine enough for what it is
They're playable solo, I recommend Roland/Axton for BL1/2 as they get a deployable turret that is good as a distraction/discount 2nd player which makes playing solo easier to approach for a new player. Helps that they have decent survivability/support skills too.
The only characters that are fucked in the balance for solo play is like Brick/Krieg since they have a suicidal/melee playstyle.
annoying having to pick everything up but it feels good. im weird tho my fave turned out to be presequal. 3 should've had high jump butt stomping bonus but nah phfft god i hate women so much
>So were the perks better in 1
No, the skills are fucking terrible in 1 and it's probably the biggest aspect that makes me dislike it. Everything is a generic + or - % with a few outliers that don't do much like the rockets on Roland's turrets or the stun on Brick's melee. 1's guns are generally better balanced, the gimmicks are WAY less interesting but if you've got a blue or higher it'll probably last a good 5 or more levels, which you can't really say about 2 and to a lesser extent 3 with how crazy the scaling eventually gets.
Bought the collection on my switch and it's amazing how different the tone of the first game is compared to the rest. It actually feels like a proper game than a meme factory like the rest. Everything feels grounded and there are a lot of moments of genuine feeling and emotion than lol random and dated meme humor.
hold up what?
I thought the Borderlands hate came from the later games?
Ganker hates everything.
if one game in a series is bad ever then "ackshually, series was always shit"
unironically don't trust the board, make your own opinion
This is the reason you need to be steady and cocksure (tee hee) with your opinions. Don't let a chinese imageboard influence you
It does. Just ignore them
BL2 is an unironic objective masterpiece. People were just unhappy with the sequels and because the CEO is a pervert weirdo

It does, just some losers trying to fit in. That being said, I recently 100%'d achievements for all of them, they hold up pretty well.
I didn't play any of the later games. I played Borderlands 1, and it was fucking garbage.
Yes, B2 was written by a passive aggressive millennial cuck, a literal cuck, his wife fucked off and took the wii u with her, and the game was grindy
Randy Bitchtits is still a Gen-X-er you retarded zoomer, for the 100th time
Randy isn't a writer, faglord. He's the CEO, the planter of magic tricks of white castle. Anon was talking about Not Tony Butch.
who?
The guy that got his wii taken so his wife's boyfriend could play Mad World. The guy that has a shrill sounding sister that plays the most obnoxious character in the series after Ava.
also, kys
What game is this because it certainly isn't BL2.
He's referring too Anthony Burch. Dude literally talked his wife into an open relationship so he could try having sex with dudes. homosexual couldn't get any dick but his wife most certainly did so she divorced him and ran off with his Wii U

spork!
Hold up? It never held anything to begin with.
If by hold up you mean better than the ones that came afterwards then yes it does.
Its fine. The only Borderlands game where I didn't feel like stabbing my ears with a knife.
It's fine. Finishing my last playthrough now.
It's not as fun as later entries, bit less annoying as well.
Mordecai > Lilith > Roland > Brick (only because they don't scale his melee properly. his launcher builds are better, but I want a melee build shitheads)
What do you mean "hold up?" It's always been shit.
doesn't run on w10

I played it recently and it just felt too slow. It was fun the first time through but it feels tedious when you know all the quests.
No. BL2 is fucking dog shit.

Very VERY little environment change from start to end but the game was ultimately fine. BL2 is where the writing became irredeemably shit.
Considering CyberPunk just stole its gameplay I'd say yes
Not really. It popularized looter shooters but that's literally the only thing it has going for it. The guns which are the main draw of the game are boring and mostly feel the same. that' really hits the nail on the head
BL3 > BL2 > BL1
Gameplay, visuals and soundtrack of 3 are by far the best. Story is irrelevant when the story in all these games sucks

very true but until dialog skip mod for 3 came out you still had to stand around waiting for lilith to shut the fuck up which wasted so much time.

It's slow as fuck and there's absolutely no difficulty at any point.
So no.
Yes and no. Early and mid game is still fun, gets boring though.
Why the fuck is this the only loot shooter on the market?
I couldn't take enough adhd meds to replay this even with coop.
Original version or the enhanced GOTY version?
"enhanced" is more convenient since it includes a bunch of qol improvements you don't have get with a bunch of ini edits and other tools like you do with original.

Of course, it's super satisfying.

Do you really need the validation of a bunch of degenerate strangers to even be able to play a video game... jesus how pathetic can someone get
Hey you seen my gun?
Find out for yourself bro, everyone here is retarded.
