FPS' strengths are level design and varied enemy roster.
Fighting giant dude in a flat arena lacks both. I hate gays who claim that Jacob fight from Dusk is a good bossfight just because it has appearance of arena shooter duel while in reality it's still same old flat room where enemy's access to varied arsenal doesn't fucking matter.
it's a drawn out "boss fight" where you need to mag dump weak spots on his body while he spawns endless mobs, shakes the arena and throws fire bombs at you. ah, and you need to do it two times, because fuck you! first to destroy his armor and then to kill him. it's not even hard. it's just 30+ minutes of pure tedium.
Tendrils don't, but direct hit do 8000 damage, enough to destroy any armor or body part except for head, which has 10000HP. Obviously arms are harder to his but pecks and stomach are pretty easy targets. As a bonus, the tendrils tend to clear the entire arena. You can have 2 cells when starting the fight and the first arena has like two more, and I think the second one also has a couple.
it literally takes 5 minutes to destroy him, mobs are easily dispatched and its fun to maul them because you have infinite sword charges, tldr git gud shitter
Only thing I remember about him is that he only spawned 2 types of big demons which only changed if you died and some combos were significantly harder than others. If one of those was pinky it was easy mode, while the fat fucks were cancer due to area denial. Did they ever patched it so he spawns all types of demons at random or is it still a pool of 2 decided at the start of the fight?
I remember Martyr as the worst boss due to how boring she was, since all the angels dropped retarded amounts of supplies while also dying to a headshot instantly like it's COD
for a game that prides itself on its combat, you'd think they'd try something more creative than shooting a stationary enemy that takes up your entire screen while spastically zooming around the arena to avoid cheap mobs. this entire game just wore me down in the last part. I went from loving it to never wanting to play it again. I'm not even touching the DLC, despite owning it. I don't know how people have thousands of hours in this game without being bored.
>shooting a stationary enemy that takes up your entire screen while spastically zooming around the arena to avoid cheap mobs
It's just like in the original.
i couln't play Eternal, i was with the mindset of more Doom(2016) but instead it was a mess skills/gadgets and other shit, i just want to shot at stuff and they to die, i barely used the graneds on the previous one.
it gets really easy when you know how to combo that shit. freeze grenade, flame belch, blood punch (with healing rune) and bam! you just took a health + armor shower. chainsaw an imp and you're as good as new. 2016 didn't let you chees it like this. the chainsaw didn't even recharge.
That's not entirely true, the first real fight in 2016 is harder than anything in Eternal. It's just that the difficulty curve is completely ass-backwards. You start weak as shit with garbage guns and end up one shotting everything with infinite ammo, also starting from midgame they put a powerup on every other arena for some reason. I just ignored them.
>nothing in 2016 is really hard >drop down into the first arena >imps bring you to 5 HP with two fast fireballs >soldiers shoot exploding plasma around the corners >pistol shoots confetti >shotgun tickles unless you're in melee range
First level is pretty hard. I've beaten DE on UNM, btw.
it's a good final boss. it's fun. the music gets you amped up. you get free BFG shots. you're fighting off hordes of heavy demons as you try and line up your shots. a big improvement on doom 2's icon fight.
It's meant as the culmination point when you need to use all the skills you've acquired during the game. I didn't really felt like the boss itself was a threat, it was a barely moving bulletsponge thing that you slowly destroy while fighting everything else. Acting as a manual "countdown" for the fight.
Didn't really enjoy it either.
DE would have been better from the start if fast glory kills was simply a settings option in the menu you choose for preference rather than something you had to waste a rune slot on. Seriously, the game feels completely different when the otherwise tiresome glory kill animations are over in a fraction of the time.
It's not good but at least it's not TAG 2 final boss. There's a lot of terrible FPS bosses out there. Why do so few actually manage to get it right?

Icon sucks shit but I thought Kahn Maker was great, felt like a Metroid Prime boss.
The three bosses of 2016 were also pretty fun.
The Cyberdemon and Mastermind were lame, but those worm mech guys were rad and I'm upset more of those didn't show up in Eternal.
I was so sick of this game by the time I got to the last level I just uninstalled and never beat it. What’s so bad about the boss?

So not too different from the original Icon of Sin?
>it's fine because it also sucked in the original
shit excuse. make it better.
>it's just 30+ minutes of pure tedium
it's only 30+ minutes if you're horrible
BFG instantly destroys every section except for head, btw.
BFG works on him? damn.

that just describes the game in general

I did the mission without crucible and BFG (I don't use those two ever) and it was really fun. Recommended.

>Western boss fight
>Western HUEG boss fight
It was over before it even began.

The Icon is Sin

That's because 2016's enemies were pathetic and barely even a threat even on the highest difficulty.

nothing in 2016 is really hard unless you're a kotaku journo
it's more of the same but starts where eternal left off in terms of difficulty and ramps up
>nothing in 2016 is really hard

that's on you bucko
this wouldn't happen to be your footage would it, anon
that probably would've been my footage if I ever tried playing with a controller
Nice frame rate, idiot.
I never used this one before but I think the proper terminology here is "skill issue"

Not the worst boss in the game. CyberDemon and Mastermind from 2016 are billion times better than all Eternal bosses combined.
I somehow killed it on the first try.
I had more trouble with the boss that came before it.
Should I pick up the DLC-pack?
TAG1 is peak Doom Eternal but TAG2 is pretty flaccid.
I liked 2016 more
So how will the next Doom game change things so much that everyone immediately jumps to defending Eternal again to shit on the new game?
Next game is going to be Quake and it's probably going to be less bing bing wahoo than DE.
QUAKE V, BABY!
KANE IS BACK!
I didn't mind this fight but I was sick of the game and never finished the DLC because it was just more going from arena to arena.

>people liked 2016 because it was a fun first person shooter
>i know lets turn the next game into an arcade game
When 2016 came out Ganker shat on it every day. Then eternal came out and suddenly everyone liked 2016 all along.
>Ganker is one person
From the way it kneejerk overreacts to things it may as well be,.
>people argue in threads
>people are arguing in this very thread
>DURR THERE IS ONLY ONE OPINION
You dumb bastard.
2016 wasn't fun because it had 1 solution for every fight. Eternal gave your entire toolkit some value.
at least metadoom is epic
what took you so long, chud?
epicness takes time
Could be worse. could have been the Cyberdemon from 3.
>Ganker still gets filtered by Eternal, praising 2016 when it's clear that Eternal is better in every single way
Every single time
If you played below Nightmare, you didn't beat the game
Only good thing about the boss fight is singing the lyrics while fighting
explaining all the enemies before you fight them is pretty terrible
it's not great but it's not that bad
Way better than the Icon of Sin in Doom2
it's fun, fag
