Dragons Ligma 2

>12 years in development
>release date finally approaching
>no cooking scene created yet
>”just throw some fricking stock footage in, jobs done”
I honestly can’t decide if this is kino or utterly creatively bankrupt

    >stock footage
Incredibly high quality footage. Its definitely not stock footage from some random site. Honestly the reasoning being it would cost way more money to develop in-game visuals, versus going out and buying a really nice piece of meat is solid.

Why the frick is the meat almost always raw, not even browning or anything just a slab of bubbling raw meat

      Anonymous

Because you're cooking it. Do you cook already browned meat?

Why would I want to see an fmv of a raw steak?

The fire is fake. Throwing meat on an iron skillet like that would produce too much smoke and not make for an appealing video.

    Plus
-bigger map with more settlements and npcs
    -more quests
    -beasten playable race
    -loss gauge and camping
    -rainy weather
    -oxcarts
-new vocations in spearhand and trickster
    -warrior got interesting mechanics
-upgrade variations depending on the merchant
-pawn hiring made interesting with bounties and quests
    -standing on top of enemies
    -pushing big enemies
    -open settlements, enemies can enter
    -somewhat improved pawn chatter
    -somewhat improved crafting recipes
    -cool npc death mechanics

    Minus
    -slugish character control, weird animations
-very few new enemies, cut old enemies
-very few new skills, cut old skills
-less skills equipped at a time than dd1
    -healing from items is instant
-cannot buy into storage or sell from storage
    -very few new biomes
    -worse soundtrack than dd1
-cannot grapple hold enemies and kick like dd1
-weaker story opening and ending than dd1
    -fewer debilitations than dd1
    -cannot throw items anymore
-quest givers and wandering pawns force you into dialogue

It's okayish, could see it being disappointing if you expected a full dd1. It's basically dd1 retold.

Having less skills is the one that pisses me off the most especially as a sorc. Having a big ass arsenal of spells is what being a wizard is all about.

are they moronic? why cut content?

They didn't really "cut" anything, since it was never in the game in the first place, it was in DD1 12 years ago. They just didn't re-make it for the new one, presumably because they ran out of dev time.

    >We could have spent money on CGI for the meat, but we figured that if we were going to spend money anyway, we might as well spend it on real, good meat
I mean you can't really fault them for that. you can either spend a bunch of time, money, and resources on making super realistic 3d meat or you can spend a lot less time and effort and just record real meat and then eat it after

What is the purpose of these? Am i supposed to go "Mmmm that raw steak sure is frying in the pan! Can't wait to put it in my character's inventory!" whenever I cook in a video game? Who does this appeal to? Fat people? Food addicts? It's just food, and it's not even real, who gives a shit.

      >Actually, the meat grilled at the camp is a live-action movie. For several months, we had been holding a ``meeting about what's so interesting about camping'' with the camping enthusiasts in our team, and one of them said, ``You can watch as many pictures as you want of people grilling meat.'' This led to its introduction into the game. - Itsuno
      Yeah, it's just a video.

Basically the part of the budget that was dedicated to spending too much money and time rendering high quality meat being virtually cooked was spent instead of high quality meat they just filmed themselves cooking. Basically a way to get something worthwhile out of what was most likely Capcom demanding they make "good looking food" out of CG due to the popularity of high fidelity food in games recently.

They could have reused MonHun World's meat models and I wouldn't mind. They look so tasty in that game goddamn

This. Could have been great, but instead you get a jarring cutscene that breaks immersion. Missed opportunity.

Itsuno specifically said that they kept trying to emulate how delicious real food looked with in-game graphics, so they eventually gave up and said “hey nothing beats real life, let’s use real food via a video” and thats why it’s there.
