DS2 DLC

Alright souls fans, be real, is there anything worth playing in the DS2 DLCs? I’ve heard the horror stories about how shitty and unfun they are.

Ivory King is one of the best boss fights in the series.

      Shulva is fantastic
      Brume Tower is great
      Loyce is good
You can ignore the areas with horror stories, except for memory of the old iron king which isn't that bad anyway and the boss is easy.

Cool presentation just don't ever fight him with once loyce knight. Ever, nobody even claims "you didn't beat him" with this fight lmao just gank with the loyce knights like tolkien and todd howard intended.

The dlc is fricking awful. I have no idea how ds2 schizos have memed it this long.

      Meds

they're higher quality than the base game. One just has that stupid snow area.

The memes are about optional co-op arenas. Go for it thr dlcs are fun and shulva will make you hate future from games for not having zelda like interactable objects

The DLCs are arguably the only reason to bother with DS2, they're the best part; although every one has a cursed moment.

yep that way horses only come at you from your left instead of every angle like the other path

people say this and I don't understand why.

brume tower is just an awful slog, eventhough it looks awesome and has some good level design.
sunken city or whatever also just drags on with no notable highs, all around gay bossfights.
the snow area is kinda cool, aside from le epic snowfield

overall very meh and DaS2 is already pretty long as it is

They felt like demons souls levels, one big map with neat places to explore and some decent bosses. Not all of it was good like the co-op places but it was the best ds2 had to offer

"Arguably the only reason to bother with DS2" isn't exactly high praise. I don't like DS2 or even the DLC that much, but they are noticeably higher quality than the rest of the game because they weren't reclaimed from an extinguished dumpster fire like base DS2's areas. I'm partial to Shulva because of the aesthetic and the encounter design, but I really hate Brume and I dislike Eleum Loyce. Brume is fricking brutally bad.

They're hard as balls but they have some of the best bosses in Dark Souls 2. Worth it for Fume Knight and Ivory King alone. Sinh is cool too.

Some of the most interesting areas in the series, and each of them has two actually good bosses. Also some of the worst areas in the series, and each has one shit reskin boss. Skip the shit parts unless you really want the full experience, they're optional and easy to miss without being told about them first anyway.

they're decent and better than the base game but each one has a "fun" zone and a shitty boss, both optional

The DS2 DLC's are the best content in DS2.

The Raime and Alonne fights are fantastic. Probably my best Souls vidya memories.

The main parts are pretty good actually, it's the side content (namely, Iron Passage and Frigid Outskirts) that are irredeemable garbage.
In fact, now that I think about it all 3 of those main areas feel like Zelda dungeons.

some of the boss fights are peak
    some areas are truly cancerous
    just like the base game
so if you already played through it the dlcs are worth

they are fun, the drowned king dlc is the best one by far, feel like a dungeon crawler, the other dlc are also good, just look up which ones are the optional areas so you can avoide them because they are trash except for sir alonne

    >is there anything worth playing in the DS2 DLCs?
if you get to that point and you haven't uninstalled the game out of boredom with how shitty it is, then that means you're probably mentally ill enough to enjoy them. if you're normal then no.

DLCs in every souls game are ignorable... EXCEPT WITH DS2. They are unironically better than the main game

Horserape snow dunes is such a huge "frick you" from the devs, it circles around and becomes kino

The snow and ash ones stick out in my mind because I liked their settings. Ariandel in 3 didn't give me what I want since it was too infected. Sunken was a pain, but I liked a lot of the loot in it.
