>Dude we've totally made the nervegear but this time it doesn't kill people it just works
surely you retards didn't fall for it and preorder this shit right
VR is dead
>Dude we've totally made the nervegear but this time it doesn't kill people it just works
surely you retards didn't fall for it and preorder this shit right
VR is dead
Why didn't they just unplug the router and yank people out of the headgear
the VR headset was armed with high powered microwaves so if you tried to remove it it cooked your brain
Seems like something a regulator should have spotted as an issue during the manufacturing process, we should start a petition
Why
I think SAO abridged hit the nail on the head.
Dude was on developer crunch time and forgot to program a logout button.
fucking Bethesda
>SAO is TES
>GGO is Fallout/Starfield
>Microsoft just announced support for adding ChatGPT to games in their devkit which is basically like what all the "AIs" in SAO are
definitely could be bethesda
Just slide some tin foil between the headset and their head bro
>Japanese mom uses one weird trick to stop her son from gaming!
>Beaters hate her!
You could just fry the electronics with a EMP pulse. No need for removing it.
Literally depower it.
It cannot microwave your brain if it has no power to microwave.
>Oh but it would fuck your brain if it loses powered
Then how the shit did it get to market when blackouts are still a thing?
The dude who wrote that crap didn't think about that shit even for a second, man.
Bonus points: you can tell he has never actually even played an MMORPG in his life either.
Theres no point trying to figure the logic of SAO. Every single event that happens doesnt make any sense let alone the world building
Two years worth of semen.
I like to imagine you’d use the nervgear, the internet goes out and you just die on the spot.
Honestly it would have worked better if they just went with the old "your soul is trapped in the game still if you remove it" shit. Because downright magic still gives me a greater suspension of disbelief than this illogical pseudo realism.
They have a backup battery just for that. There is another way out however...
>say nagger
>life stolen
It has an internal battery retard, and you can't remove it or depower it because it has multiple sensors, if you try to do it it instantly kills the wearer
That battery's not going to last a week without charging, anon.
You can do a lot on a batteries last few microseconds of charge, like kill a guy.
EMP it retard
>Literally depower it.
capacitors the size of a fingernail can hold a charge strong enough to instantly fry a human for multiple years while not plugged into anything.
I think the novels said he basically paid off a bunch of regulators to get the product to market knowing it had safety issues, and those people were later arrested for taking the bribes.
Why
Because it was written when the author was only 13 and the Japanese are willing to suspend disbelief way more than the West does unless it's regarding the purity of their waifu.
What.
Glad I didn't listen to Ganker when SAO released, fuck you I hope some of you died there
The Oculus forums used to have ranks and the lowest one that every random user had was nervegear. I always thought that was kind of weird
Did SAO kill modern animation?
no but it basically laid the ground work for low effort isekai self insert trash to blow up
Yes this is every bit as it retarded as it sounds.
What is this Twitter larp garbage? keep that shit off v
I will give it some credit, it is the most incredibly contrived setup I have ever seen.
SEX MODE is still the funniest thing I have ever read.
It was one of the first "alternate world" stories adapted. It was allowed to be retarded bullshit because no one had built a tolerance to it.
If you go back and actually read/watch any episode its all absolutely retarded and makes no fucking sense at all. Like every single fucking occurence is just fucking retarded nonsense.
It really wasn't - .hack beat it by over a decade.
.hack had quite possibly one of the worst animes ever though.
Actually, that's an interesting issue. The WN for SAO started like six months before Infection released in Japan. That said, there was plenty of prerelease information on .hack// before SAO, so SAO is derivative anyways.
>That said, there was plenty of prerelease information on .hack// before SAO
Which is the key takeaway. The .hack franchise was always planned as this big multimedia project, which meant all its games and its anime and probably other ideas for the time had to have been organized years before any of its material actually launched. That's far more planning than some individual schmuck who threw together an incohesive comic with almost no thought put into his worldbuilding (since it was all just a setup for some generic anime harem self-insert fantasy).
So while people can argue SAO "came out first" in the loosest justification possible, .hack did it first in a way that actually fucking worked.
can't hear you over reki kawahara being built on the back of rape
False. Sword Art Online originated as a hentai rape publication in Men's Dolphin of October 2000, predating .hack by several years.
https://desuarchive.org/a/thread/206030527/#206057082
Dug it up and I'm now elaborating.
>reki "mario hayashi" kawahara is working as a mangaka's assistant and occasionally makes doujins of his own
>has plans of turning his adventures in ultima online into a doujin but falls through and is scrapped multiple times
>one of them is "ult online" or "ultimate online", releasing in october of 2000 as a part of the men's dolphin publication
>it's a hentai rape story centered around the prototype for kirito, still named kirito
>asuna's there, too, but she's named mika instead and is pretty much just saber from fate/stay night
>doesn't really go anywhere
>.hack is in the works, anime production of .hack//sign is underway
>a rough draft of sword art online is elaborated upon for dengeki game novel prize 2001/2002 in spring
>kawahara doesn't submit it, publishes it under the pseudonym of kunori fumio on his own website
>.hack//sign releases in april of 2002, fate/stay night releases 2 years later
>accel world is written, wins the grand prize for a contest and is published
>publisher agent finds sword art online and takes that too
>accelworld runs strong in its own rights, sword art online only really flourishes on the homefront as a light novel
>anime adaptations hit in 2012
>sword art online becomes an international phenomenon
>"what happened on the early floors, reki?"
>progressive happens, etc
>all of this because of a rape manga he made back in 2000
Why was early anime outside of studio Ghibli stuff so shitty looking?
Generational technology and gradual change. For the most part, the anime of the era was predominantly done through traditional cel methods, and it's around the mid-to-late 90's (iirc) that the methods that were being used for film and OVA started to become publicly available at budget price points. Anime that had that weird "eyes in different zipcodes" style was especially prominent because it was often times successful, and you wanted to chase success to get your foot in the door.
>early anime
>2000s
>ghibli
>early anime
The 80’s was really when anime actually became something other then a Disney ripoff.
My guess is that early shit was legitimately based off of disney shit. It took a while to develop away from that style and then people were all doing whatever they wanted until some animes got successful enough to get bandwagoned into a new style of samey bullshit.
>there are people who will WILLINGLY put a VR set on knowing it will kill you
I like how the launch playerbase was like 10,000. World of Warcraft sold around 250,000 on the first day.
>fantasy premise surrounding getting stuck in a death game
>anons try to dissect the reality of the situation
Hunter x Hunter figured this out a couple years before in Greed Island, where they are just taken to a real island.
It doesn't even make sense within the logic of it's own story.
I hurt myself laughing reading it the first time. Sex mode buck broke me.
>fantasy premise
It's sci-fi
>top of the line vr mmo
>only 10,000 players
I’d turn my game into a death trap if it bombed that badly
>Implying you can have millions of players on a full-dive VRMMORPG
Even 10,000 is pushing it. The first full-dive online game will have 100 or less players max.
If it ever happens it's gonna be a tech demo like Playstation Home or some metaverse shit, not a MMO
It will probably be somewhat similar to how VR games are going. First wave will all be novelty items, which will be ever present, a lot of walking sims or short 'experiences' focused on the environment. Then a bunch of mechanics sandboxes around the time the sim autists get ahold of it, and then you start getting real games.
Who are we kidding, it will be depraved porn all the way down.
depraved and really ugly looking
If we ever get full-dive tech the hardware used to interface with your brain will probably need to be able to run HUGE neural nets. Server complexity/bandwidth/grafix probably won't be a bottleneck anymore.
how do they eat? do you have to get your mom to get you tendies now and again
This wouldn't have happened if the headsets had been running Free and Open Source Software.
>he thinks FOSS stands any chance against ~~*Intel ME*~~ and ~~*AMD PSP*~~ and ~~*ARM TrustZone*~~
lmao
All anime set in videogames are bullshit because their stakes are on their face meaningless so they always have to contrive stupid bullshit like this to make you care despite the fact it could literally never happen.
The genre itself builds in an issue with suspension of disbelief and people still engage with it.
Wild.
>all the dev work went into muh realism so the gameplay is shit
fucking horrible game. 2/10, would not risk life to play again
Guys
what if there were Cheaters
but
but even better than Cheaters
there were
Beaters??
Eh??
Beta Cheaters??
Explain this shit to me. Everybody hates the beta testers even though they're the ones that have the most experience with the game and have had the freedom to fuck around with the most shit to see what actually works without fear of dying? Shouldn't they be the most trusted?
They were hated because non beta testers thought that they were withholding information, causing people to die, when in reality a lot of shit just changed in the final game. And they never even made it that far in anyway. The beater thing came from Kirito deciding to martyr himself to take the attention away from regular beta testers.
>non beta testers thought that they were withholding information, causing people to die, when in reality a lot of shit just changed in the final game
This seems really easy to explain
If everyone is reasonable yeah.
But this all happened during/after the first boss fight. They had just lost their leader, because of some wrong information from beta testers, so everyone was pretty pissed. On top of that, I believe beta testers were generally not that well liked because a lot of them played solo and didn't directly help new players, instead choosing to give their info to an information broker.
And because of that Kirito decided to just draw all the attention to himself by just saying that all the other beta testers were noobs that barely climbed the tower, unlike him who reached a higher floor than anyone else.
Man, it's kinda sad that I remember so much about this garbage.
Just finished pumping two years worth of cum into some cuck's bitch, shit unironically made a glopping noise and never stopped gushing.
The Asanagi doujin is canon.
Change my mind.
>I wouldn't pre-order it and become exactly like my hero, Kirito-kun.
I tried Fatal Bullet and it has the worst story i've ever seen
and its not even a background thing, you literally have over half an hour of shitty story before it lets you actually start playing
Ironically fatal bullet is still the best SAO game because you play as (You) and it doesn't spend all that plot time jacking Kirito off
Instead Kirito and literally everyone spend all that plot time jacking (You) off
Kirito should've had his bed scene with (You) from your perspective instead of (You) having a bed scene with Kirito.
SAO was always bad but we all liked it because there was nothing better
It has amazing music and visuals you just have to be able to utilize copious amounts of suspension of disbelief
i miss the fun threads :
wow wow
No, it was total trash back then and it's total trash now. I don't understand how anyone ever liked this garbage.
zoomer
I'm probably older than you are. All VRMMO stories are equally trash.
Just got a HP reverb g2 because it was on sale, how badly did I fuck up?
>writing a book where virtual reality is a main plot point
>constantly compared to sword art online or ready player one
>have seen/read both to make sure im not ripping anything off
>i'm not and i wasted my time consuming two of the worst pieces of media i've ever consumed
i wish i was dead
>caring about other people's work and """originality"""
NGMI
A VR Game comedy where people actually behave like they do in real games is untapped potential. Creating grotesque characters, banting, scamming, griefing, glitch abuse, all that stuff. These stories always make everyone act like autistic hardcore RPers.
the big issue is that most people who write these things are normalfags trying to write people who live online. They don't know how people actually act in these games. They'll make a world that's effectively Second Life or VRchat and like you said, everyone's acts like an autistic roleplayer instead of it being 50% people trying to jack off and 50% people scamming people trying to jack off.
I never bothered to watch SAO.
>be in SAO
>about to die
>scream at the top of my lungs nagger
>get banned
>wake up
I want to fuck the rat.
