Spear and shield esthetics are just what humanity loves. Can't get around it. The new stormcasts even have the long bladed spears Homer loved so much in his Illiad.
It's called "heroic proportion" in art. If the statue is taller than a man, giving it long legs and a small head makes it look even tallerer when viewed from below.
They share a shitload of more than just the armour. SC is what would happen if you asked a chink mobilegame developer to make a fantasy version of Space Marines and do it fast.
Dunno, the idea behind the Stormcast Eternals is simply too *cool*, there is no other way to go about it. Stupendously powerful near-demigod warriors that war against the enemies of man with the power of lightning and hammer, losing a piece of themselves each time they die and reincarnate until they become empty shells little different from the soulless armor they wear? Fricking sign me up! It's pretty much the same how Space Marines are cool, despite whatever bullshit flaws or inconsistencies they might have. The main issue that I have with them is the setting - compared to the Old World, AoS is simply put a steaming pile of crap. So I often wondered how one could include them in Warhammer Fantasy lore-wise, without ruining the original feel of WF. Toning them down a bit like pic related and adapting their aesthetic? It's not like they don't have somewhat similar counterparts in Chaos Warriors and Grail Knights that are already existing in the world. Maybe one could pull a "Guilliman returns" with Sigmar (the colloquial "return of the king"?) where he comes back for a short while to reinvigorate the Empire that's about to fall, beset on all sides by demons and monsters alike. Gifting them with warriors of legendary stature, fit to face the mad fury of the enemies of mankind. But this gift comes at a heavy cost - maybe he had to sacrifice himself to create them? Or this blessing is too much to bear except for a few elect chosen, killing thousands in the process? Or he brought them with him from the other side, heralding the dark coming of the ever so distant End Times that are now truly here...would be cool imo.
>losing a piece of themselves each time they die and reincarnate until they become empty shells
I'm going to be honest I have never looked into AoS lore because I don't care about it but isn't this just undead from dark souls?
Fantasy has very good cohesive theme and lore, but dog awful game rules, AoS doesn't even have a proper lore, but actually good and fun game rules (speaking about second and third edition)
Stop being autistic manchildren
I personally enjoy more AoS due to the rules, i haven't read a single line of lore regarding it since the whole portals connecting everywhere thing is moronic and i prefer to imagine it as just the "myths" people of the WHFB universe make up and imagine
Yes, Stormcast are fricking lame. Yes, the dominion box is gathering dust everywhere. However, AoS has a lot of really cool minis and factions and the game is pretty fun too. Playing Stormcast is like eating white bread flavored ice cream though, it's about as boring as possible in a game with sky-mining Dwarves and eel riding elves and other crazy stuff. I just think that the dudes are neat and ToW is coming back so everyone can be happy.
My LGS has a big fatty stack of them but you're better off just buying them pennies on the dollar from ebay or Amazon. If you need specific sprues from the box those are usually pretty cheap on ebay.
AoS is second only to 40k in terms of popularity. Stay mad. The real draw are the large, extravagant and creative models. People like to buy them just to paint and display them even if they don’t actually play with them.
Probably GW's internal strategy department, since that's clearly how they run things. It's obvious at every level that the tabletop war game is just an excuse to sell minis, not that the minis are a necessary tool to play the game. That's why it's so WYSIWYG. Compare BattleTech, for example, where having cool minis is a definite plus, but people don't care if you play with a different configuration of the same 'Mech, or even use cardboard counters (like the kind that ship with the intro box).
Best models are the ones directly appealing to FB aesthetics though.
Bring back Fantasy WITH new models, AoS will die like it should. The best leftovers of it can be ported back into FB or some side show new setting instead of cat piss aos blob.
>What if we took our best selling dudes by a wide margin, and made another similar group for our other game?
More like
>Oopsie, we mismanaged this other game to death, better just relaunch it with space marines. The nerds love space marines!
>Where did you put that coke, Nigel?
that's pretty much what he just said. Space marines sell so GW put space marines in their dead game as an attempt to revive it.
And it worked
>selling fast! Get your Age of Sigmar(tm) - Dominion starter kit before it's to late!
>age of sigmar - dominion is carried in large, cobweb-covered numbers by all overstocked sellers of miniature wargames that want to kill themselves
So this is the power of TWW secondary cope...
Lol, lmfao even.
My LGS has a dozen dominion boxes at 23% off, how many does yours have?
>no time stamp
>out of production paint pot
>edited in white rectangle hiding something
Who do you stall this pic from
This is all I have to say regarding that.
Frick
And how many TOW boxes does it stock, TWW secondary? Surely they're all selling better than this one AoS product you've decided to harp on- oh wait 😉
Post models instead of going on autistic and, quite frankly nonsensical tirades about things that don't exist yet.
>selling fast
In some aspects, yes, but not because of sigmarines.
Then why?
And just for reference, the Sigmarines-would you day they sell well?
The revival of WHFB is because of Total Warhammer, not anything to so with AoS.
That's why they have to put out Old World again.
It's working as intended - dying horribly from GW's management and shit taste.
GW proper isn't even making toW while squating more and more old kits
Correct me if I'm wrong but it didn't "work"; GW finally just started fricking marketing their product.
>put them on the ground instead.
homie, space marines were already on the ground
Spear and shield esthetics are just what humanity loves. Can't get around it. The new stormcasts even have the long bladed spears Homer loved so much in his Illiad.
Chaos Chosen were space marines first, anon, and anyone that actually played the game knew it.
Their heads always look so tiny lol
It's ok, they compensate with ridiculously huge weapons, as usual.
It's called "heroic proportion" in art. If the statue is taller than a man, giving it long legs and a small head makes it look even tallerer when viewed from below.
>every guy in heavy armor is a space marine
They share a shitload of more than just the armour. SC is what would happen if you asked a chink mobilegame developer to make a fantasy version of Space Marines and do it fast.
>What if we took space marines and painted them gold
>What if we took the stormcast eternals and then made them into space marine +
>Genius

Does he really need a shield with so much armor?

>reforged
Is that the primaris equivalent?
No, it's just an article buzzward for the new model reveal. All Stormcast are reforged, had been since day 1
Yup.
The new betterer ground marines.

Can you tell us where? i want like two more and can't find the fricker anywhere

Where have I heard this before?

It's ok to have wrong opinions. And this certainly is one
It's okay to stay mad. Keep up the good work.
>But what if I were to purchase fast food and disguise it as my own cooking?
DELIGHTFULLY DEVILISH!
man it's been a decade, give it up
