If you're not the sort of person who hasn't already got one, it probably isn't for you. Its a replacement for my 3060ti PC when I'm not at my desk because I travel a lot from Spring to Summer and don't have my PC in my bedroom. So on airplanes and right before bed, it's nice to be able to access my Steam games, games I've pirated and all my emulation shit. And it isn't bulky or heavy. I have tiny hands, I could give you the best, sweetest, purest handjob with my hands and I have zero problems holding it for a long period of time. If you need to "be sold" on it then you're not the target demographic.
A hacked Switch running moonlight is a pretty decent option if you mostly use it in your house and have a gaming PC with an NVidia GPU
Or you could save yourself the trouble of hacking a hackable switch and buy a device that does all that it does out of the box and more.
I agree. The weight distribution makes it feel only slightly heavier than a Switch Oled. If you feel both to compare you'll feel only slight heft for either.
remote play is honestly kind of shit. especially without a keyboard or physical access to the host machine since everything has 3 launchers and 6 logins to play a singleplayer game nowadays

Quite the opposite, at least for me. The switch is too small to be comfortable to hold and the tiny screen, while perfectly serviceable, is not much to write home about. The deck has a large, crisp screen and is very comfortable to hold. The build quality is also incomparable
Get different joycons. You have lots of options. If you want bigger look at Hori's joycons.
Or you know, use a steam deck. "It has aftermarket options" isn't much of a selling point here
When i grabbed mine the first time i was actually surprised how light it felt, however while it feels nice to grab, the back pads are pretty crappy to use.
I mostly use it to play on the bed when im having trouble sleeping. Have actually progressed quite a few games i had in my backlog.
it plays most games relatively well. mine is almost exclusively a witcher 3/isaac machine as I fly between USA and Europe once a month for work. charges on plane outlets unlike my watt heavy Razer so it's my best choice to pass time quickly.
The gyro on stick touch combined with the track pads make it surprisingly viable to play CRPGs and RTS games on.
Looking at the 64GB version, how big of an issue is the shader cache shit?
I have like 40GB of shader shit on my Deck. I got the 256GB model and load all games onto the SD card. It's not great, but its easy enough to google scripts to clear it out. But if you're getting the 64GB model, get a solid SD card and don't cheap out with AliExpress or whatever FOTM Ganker is using.
it's not too big of an issue for me, i symlinked compdata to my 512gb micro sd card and with over 30 games installed, i still have about 16gb free space on the internal memory. and i hoard way too many games at once, if you make a routine of deleting the leftover data from games you finish you won't have any issues.
I have 64GB version and it isn't too much of an issue, at worst you'll be required to do some tinkering like
suggested if you have too many graphically demanding games.
For the record I recently ordered a 1TB 2230 SSD. Having seen the iFixit guide to changing your SSD the procedure seems relatively trivial.

It's actually strong enough to play almost everything at the resolution of its screen, although battery varies a lot 2-6 hours.
In the end it depends on what games you frequently play, if you mainly play graphically demanding multiplayer focused recently released AAA games, and you feel autistic rage if your PC can't sustain 144fps at 4K, then the Deck is definitely not for you.
It's spectacular if you want to play indies or other games of generally low graphical requirements (including most emulators), and if you could get used to the gyro aiming, it could even be viable for some shooters. And the fact you can play it anywhere in the house is pretty comfy.
its not too big for my little sister, you should be fine.
and its strength although only about as powerful as a beefed up PS4 on a newer architecture, is more than enough for most games due to the optimizations on deck.
like 40hz support is great for games that can't quite do a perfect 60 at good settings, FSR support can really take stress off the GPU, and shader cache reduces stutter. (also targeting 720-800p was a good choice)
its even getting cool features like HDR support soon (surprising cause devs have had trouble with it on linux, but gamescope seems to be able to work around it)
If you're 30+ it's the perfect handheld device for your old man eyes.
