Godhand is a Mishima (Ken Mishima, to be precise), meaning the game has a very weak connection with the Tekken series. This was a semi-cameo due to Namco distributing the arcade version of the game, and Godhand himself has moves taken from Tekken characters.
uhr guys
I used to play the shit out of the dungeon crawler.
Same. I remember I kept going to that octopus boss and dying repeatedly. To be fair I was underleveled at the time...
the dungeon minigame frightened me
Game has some really great music

>encountering the octopus boss early on
scared the hell out of me
Everything about the game just feels so mysterious
God bless, anon.
God bless the ring
Does this count as the first of the FFVII sequels?
Final Fantasy Tactics came out earlier iirc.
i rented this back when it launched
i was very confused why the roster was the way it was
namco added final fantasy characters as an afterthought
the arcade pcb has even better graphics
i have it just for that jiggle effect
>Namco
literally the only reason anybody cared about this game was the ff7 characters
thats why i bought it
Yeah but it turned out to be a really cool game.
Namco collaborated with them. God Hand is a Mishima and has their moves. There's some other parallels i don't remember.
There was no collaboration, the game just ran on Namco System 12 arcade board so some of the Namco tech staff was involved.
This is the same as Killer Instinct running on Midway hardware in arcades. Midway wasn't involved in actual game development.
>some of the Namco tech staff was involved
Sounds like a collaboration you fricking idiot.
collaboration would imply they worked on the game, not that they were paid consultation fees for advice on developing for the underlying hardware

The characters look like dollar store Tekken 3 roster.
So Ehrgeiz is basically Tobal No.3
Nope. Tobal is VF with more elaborate grappling. Ehrgeiz is Power Stone but with simpler arenas.
I literally discovered this shit 2 years ago, the dungeon crawler is SO MUCH FUN.
The final boss sucks dick though.
I liked most of Square games back in the day and I was always fond of roguelikes, but for whatever reason this game never clicked with me OP.
Jin Sephiroth homie on the keft
