Maliketh has an absurd amount of openings. Just stay near him. You can jump the AOE's and if you're behind him after he jumps onto the sword he will flip backwards and allow plenty of free hits. Just watch some RL1 runs or something.

>Just watch some RL1 runs or something
I'd rather not, I figured out every other boss on my own. To me he's unrelentingly aggressive and doesn't *feel* like he leaves any openings

skill issue, you just suck at the game, maliketh has 0 health, if you're aggressive he dies in 3 hits
1 year ago
Anonymous
I beat him solo, melee only, before they made the content easier.
>maliketh has 0 health, if you're aggressive he dies in 3 hits
But that's the point, I'm not satisfied if I beat the boss by powering through the mechanics. By the end of the fight I should be able to react accordingly to every move and he's the only boss where that's not the case (Malenia I figured out but it was the unerring execution that made me impatient, EB on the other hand I beat so quickly, I regretted going 2xColossal)
That's entirely a "you" problem. The boss objectively has extremely wide openings. If you want to figure them out yourself then feel free to, that's what I did as well, just don't complain about them not existing. My problem with the fight is he has way too little health combined with how long his openings are. I wish the second phase had an entirely new healthbar.
I wasn't and I'm not complaining.

it does though. pressing forward and r2 at the same time causes your character to jump, and while jumping, attack. this combination of buttons is DEDICATED to performing this jump attack, and unless you're using some obscure definition of jump or attack, ds1 absolutely has a DEDICATED jump attack.
Fun game but the vague plot that would not hold up if it weren't for cutscenes makes me seethe. The game is literally unintelligible with the crypted dialogues delivered by otherwise convincing characters.
It is minimalist, which is what makes me seethe. It makes me crave a subtle plot, but it's beyond subtle so it goes overboard with subtlety to the point of the game design almost seeming lazy and as if the story and game were developed not side-by-side, but in two different rooms and then assembled into one unit when they were both done.
Discovering the lore is part of the gameplay. You're meant to piece things together and learn more about the world through reading item descriptions and talking to NPC's until their dialogue is exhausted.
It's just story that you have to puzzle to understand but that makes it more rewarding when you put two and two together.
It would probably be easier to puzzle things together if puzzle piece A wasn't followed by puzzle piece B 10 hours later, which made me forget about what puzzle piece A was in the first place. And I'm not whining about how big the game is, I'm whining about that they didn't close the gaps enough for me to comprehend a coherency in the plot. Idk about schools internationally but the first thing you are taught where I'm from is that coherency is the most important thing when you're writing a story, a speech or anything like that, because if you can't get the reader or listener to stay with you, then you've failed.
that intro was an abomination.
You can tell they dedicated a pretty large budget for it, but for some reason let a middle school drama club write the narration.
I think the intro was pretty alright, it's just that they didn't fricking go on with it through the game's progression. It's not that they don't give you 0 content either, it's just that it's spread way too thin to be able to comprehend where you're going, where you are, and where you've been in the plot. Literally Skyrim did a better job at telling you where you were.
i'm just treating the entire game as a DS3 total conversion mod.
the totally not bonfire mechanic, the you're some random schlub brought back from the dead to save the world setup, it's the same game, only with some botw/SoC open world stuff thrown in.
elden souls 4 is pretty fun, and that's just fine with me.
I cannot for the life of me get myself to stop referring to "runes" as "souls" and I only played Dark Souls 2 for a very brief period a long time ago, although I finished it.
yeah, same.
same with estus flasks, bonfires (as mentioned)
so much of the nuts and bolts of ER is directly lifted from DS3.. but again, that's not necessarily a bad thing. i can run it @ 4k/60FPS because underneath it all it's still a 2016 game.
Same. I've beaten ER like 6 times but I've never seen a single ER trailer. I never watch trailers for anything.
man, that's one of the things i like most about a new game; comfy recliner, a beer and the intro.
intro was ass and i honestly hate the whole 'story locked behind item descriptions' anyways, you expect me to remember all the useless shit and somehow make connections with whatever else i've just picked up? frick off man, i'm not revisiting all my old items to find out 'zanzibart farted once on these bracers, the energy is still smelt here, just faintly, emboldening those who would where them'

yes i know holy fricks them up, yes i know a heal instantly staggers them, but if you get caught by one of these things you might as well just die
1 were supreme jimmy rustlers the first time round in Siofra.
2, even with the healing trick, still terrify me.
3 are pretty easy to overwhelm, same with 4.
5, never had a problem with.
6 are too much like real minibosses to be annoying.
7 are fun.
8 are puzzles. Can't get mad at them.
9 are c**tS.
10 are easy apart from the one in the Haligtree, and that just because of the arena.

Yeah, that's why I asked about FROM specifically. I know it's really common in JRPGs and I just think it's cool they brought it over.
1. Anor Londo Archers were worse these guys can be entirely by passed.
2. The worst enemy in the Souls franchise.
3. Stagger him to hell otherwise its just a bunch of slow perfume attacks.
4. Annoying if you dont have a strike weapon but manageable.
5. Pain in the ass for melee.
6. They have one bad attack which is their AOE omnidirectional attack (or it does straight lines I cant remember.)
7. Once you know when their feint attacks are and their delays you can bully them like the dogs.
8. This is just an obstacle.
9. Horribly annoying to the point of absurdity.
10. I actually like fighting these things but thats an unpopular opinion.
Id say overall ER does have more annoying enemies than other games so far but theyre manageable as well depending on the circumstances. I wont excuse Revenants or Pests those are just sadism incarnate.
I just hate how far reaching their attacks are in general. It's visually obnoxious to me to see how forced an animal is moving to create difficulty for the player. It's stupid to watch a bear do giant sweeps, and of course, insta-charge. Ever since Bloodborne, and especially DS3, there was a lot of this obnoxious design.
Mohg is such a good boss, decently telegraphed moves yet you can get caught easily if you don't pay attention enough, forces you to watch your surroundings with the bleedfire, makes explorationlets seethe with the second phase transition and doesn't rely on constant backdash and infinite combos. And he looks sick, my favorite boss with Godfrey and Morgott.
There's something about the weight of his trident swings and body animation that sells it that is really well done. I think they had to do this to telegraph the path of the bleedfire splatter.
How do you fight Mohg? Some of his attacks are delayed as shit and I simply can't do anything to him in 2nd phase because he Mohged all over the place, there're barely any safe zone to hit his ass.
All of his attacks are delayed so its easier to get in the rhythm of them. Just try to visualize where the fire is and stay close to him to avoid the vast majority of it.
I sincerely hope it's an Artorias style DLC, where we travel back in time to kill Godwyn on the night of the black knives. That would be the coolest shit ever.
What fights are you guys wanting? >Godwyn, The Prince of Death >Miquella, The Unnaloyed >The Formless Mother >The Blind Swordsman >The Twinbird >Tibia Mariner with a fricking galleon >The Gloam-Eyed Queen
The main annoying thing is that they did it right before the split between PvP and PvE, which would have let them leave the PvE Ash alone. I don't really use it but I hate PvP balance changes fricking up PvE.
Honestly very true. It worked well cause there wasn't as much reactionary bullshit, gameplay wise. What I mean is, people got gud at O&S, so they have to up the ante, and we end up with bullshit bosses like Foreskins.
My copium is they're going to announce it proper at Taipei Game Show this February on the basis that Elden Ring had a showcase in that event last year, they could do similar thing with the DLC this time. It also helps that the promotion wouldn't clash with Armored Core 6 marketing which might be held on the bigger show like E3.
It'll be interesting to see whether they add new quest outcomes that will be fricked depending on what you did in the base game, like choosing between Sellen and Jerren. And how many players will be assblasted about having to restart or do NG+3 or more to get to the new content.
Never.
Don't be stupid. It would generate more revenue than most full games do.
The game is so huge there isn't really a need for more content in it
false

>requiring faster reactions from the player doesn’t change that either
its not that fromsoft made their games faster, you're just getting older and slower
Lmao
>that pic
I still don't know what the hell you're supposed to do vs Malekith. Him, Malenia and Elden Beast (the weakest of the 3) I had to cheese with 2xColossals.
I wasn't and I'm not complaining.
>before they made the content easier.
what did they do to make him easier?
I don't know. I haven't played this game in months, they might've left the boss as it originally was. I do know they buffed Colossal weapons at one point and that's primarily what I refer to
That's entirely a "you" problem. The boss objectively has extremely wide openings. If you want to figure them out yourself then feel free to, that's what I did as well, just don't complain about them not existing. My problem with the fight is he has way too little health combined with how long his openings are. I wish the second phase had an entirely new healthbar.
> Dark Souls 3 and Elden Rings are very hard and complex you DS1/2 chuds are just coping
>Oh ok then, let me just summon my-
>NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO YOU CAN'T USE SUMMONS TO TRIVIALIZE THE GAME THAT DOESN'T COUNT YOU HAVE TO PLAY DS3 AND ELDEN RING WITHOUT SUMMONS SO THAT MY moronic ARGUMENT WORKS OTHERWISE I'M REVEALED FOR THE BRAINLET SHITLORD THAT I AM NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
>summons
Aren't this for le casuls dsgay?
first dark souls didn't have many summons if you were playing single player
and second one, the original not scholar version, had rather weak summons so they didn't trivialize the game like they do in DS3 and Elden Ring
what? it's the other way around. ds1 and 2 are impossible to go back to now and even 3 is just barely playable. it's actually ds1 that I would call light and floaty, where your attacks feel like you're hitting air. and in 2 you feel like you're walking on ice.
the spear crystalian got cucked in one of the updates, doesn't do the hoi hoi as much now. and the chariots don't one-shot you anymore.
>what? it's the other way around. ds1 and 2 are impossible to go back to now and even 3 is just barely playable. it's actually ds1 that I would call light and floaty, where your attacks feel like you're hitting air. and in 2 you feel like you're walking on ice.
You clearly haven't played any of these games.
I was literally playing 3 a few minutes ago. last week I replayed 1 for a while. 2 can go frick itself, haven't touched it since 2016.
No, you clearly have never played these games. You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. You're like a European trying to pretend he understands the intricacies of football to a Texan.
Why would I lie to you?
its not the crystalian spear attacks that are annoying, its fricking throaty hum sound he makes while jumping at you. I find it infuriating for some reason, just shut up you blue dickhead
????
literally the opposite, you now have so many more combat moves compared to previous titles
>dedicated crouch attacks
>dedicated jump attacks
>charged spells
>guard counter
>stance breaking
the crouch attacks are roll attacks you moron
there were jump attacks before but only for R1
guard counters are fricking moronic
stance breaking has been a thing for as long as poise has
cherging spells is so so. I'd say it's kinda dumb because you barely have time to do it in any serious fight bt it's nice that it's there for like coop or something
>the crouch attacks are roll attacks
>x and y are the same
???? clearly you don't take distance into account
>there were jump attacks before but only for R1
D E D I C A T E D
you clearly have reading comprehension issues
>guard counters are fricking moronic
filtered
>stance breaking has been a thing for as long as poise has
so a first in souls games
thanks for playing!
there must be a limit to stupidity
please correct yourself
NTA but you got completely BTFO. I recommend taking a break from Ganker for the day
I think you're the moron here, dude. Saying that Dark Souls had jump attacks is completely disingenuous.
Dark Souls 2 had jump attacks you fricking peanut
Do you understand what "disingenuous" means?
We were discussing DS1/2 vs DS3/ED
He said ED added dedicated jump attacks.
I said they were already there before.
Please point out where I'm wrong.
I don't fully understand the argument here but DS did have a jump attack, by pressing forward+R2.
not dedicated
I don't know what that means.
Wait hold on a second.
I remember in DS2 you could run, jump then attack.
Am I wrong? This is why I claimed DS2 had dedicated jump attack.
don't remember about 2. in 3 if you press R2 while running, you do a jump attack. I can launch 1 and check out if you want.
Nah it may be so, I misremembered.
So I guess it was just drop attacks which could only be done if you were slightly above the opponent when you jumped otherwise there wouldn't be enough falltime to trigger the drop attack. Used to do it at the duel bridge in DS2
for future reference, they're called plunge attacks.
dedicated to what? explain yourself, homosexual.
the jump attacks in DS1 are completely different to any other attack that weapon can do. i don't understand what's not dedicated about that.
esl
sorry man, i didn't realise you didn't speak english.
i don't spoonfeed morons often but here
DS1 does not have a dedicated jump attack
because it doesn't have a dedicared jump button
is that easy enough for you to understand or should i use even shorter words
it does though. pressing forward and r2 at the same time causes your character to jump, and while jumping, attack. this combination of buttons is DEDICATED to performing this jump attack, and unless you're using some obscure definition of jump or attack, ds1 absolutely has a DEDICATED jump attack.
Dead giveaway you got filtered by Sekiro's reaction speed
>gameplay is utter shit
Fun game but the vague plot that would not hold up if it weren't for cutscenes makes me seethe. The game is literally unintelligible with the crypted dialogues delivered by otherwise convincing characters.
Subtle, minimalist plot and dialog is a lost artform.
You just got filtered, bro.
Sounds like a lazy way of excusing the game. Aligns well with the game design itself, so that checks out.
I know you're sarcastic btw but there are people who would say that shit with a straight face.
I cannot for the life of me get myself to stop referring to "runes" as "souls" and I only played Dark Souls 2 for a very brief period a long time ago, although I finished it.
yeah, same.
same with estus flasks, bonfires (as mentioned)
so much of the nuts and bolts of ER is directly lifted from DS3.. but again, that's not necessarily a bad thing. i can run it @ 4k/60FPS because underneath it all it's still a 2016 game.
man, that's one of the things i like most about a new game; comfy recliner, a beer and the intro.
intro was ass and i honestly hate the whole 'story locked behind item descriptions' anyways, you expect me to remember all the useless shit and somehow make connections with whatever else i've just picked up? frick off man, i'm not revisiting all my old items to find out 'zanzibart farted once on these bracers, the energy is still smelt here, just faintly, emboldening those who would where them'
>you expect me to remember all the useless shit and somehow make connections with whatever else i've just picked up?
>Muh zanzibart
Trannies can't help but out themselves, can they?
>Buttblasted soulschud
go back to your transphobic subreddit
what's the point of having an ideal and not using every opportunity to defend it and expose your arguments?
kek that is what elden ring's pretentious story-telling sounds like
Go read a book if you want direct, front-loaded storytelling
>Vague plot
Seems like you missed the entire point by about 4 or 5 successors.
>new code references were found in patch 1.07 for a whole new landmass, new legacy dungeon, and flag spaces for a load of new boss fights
>absolute morons in denial of objective reality: ThErE wOnT bE dLc
My guess is we will see the reveal on the 1 year anniversary at the end of February, then a release around April/May.
6 is the only jimmy russler in that pic
4 rustled jimmies so hard fromsoft nerfed them to the point of being obsolete. Now they rustle me because they used to be a great boss but shitters couldnt handle it. Holy frick i hate shitters.
>noo i cant multitask and handle 2 enemies at once!
use summons
>noo im an elite gamer and dont use summon,s plz nerf game for meeeee
>fomsoft: ok, we love shitter money so we will cater to you, the shitter
frick
The triple rot one was aids though and just plain obnoxious. I would hardly call that a good boss.
for me, it's 6 and 10 simply because of the god awful camera
2 when I'm caught by surprise
Funnily, it's 1 for me. It makes running around those areas a stupid pain just because of how long their range is. It's moronic and not very fun.
1 can definitely be annoying when you're playing for the first time, afterwards you just learn to sneak around/dodge them
2 is one of the worst enemies they've ever put in these games
yes i know holy fricks them up, yes i know a heal instantly staggers them, but if you get caught by one of these things you might as well just die
What's the "healing trick?"
if you use a healing incantation and they're caught in the aoe, it staggers them and damages the frick out of them
Wow, that's fricking cool. Had no idea. Are there other FROM games with a "zombie" status like that?
I don't know about from games, but it's a recurring thing in older rpg games that you can damage undeads with healing spells, I remember doing it in FF5
Yeah, that's why I asked about FROM specifically. I know it's really common in JRPGs and I just think it's cool they brought it over.
Healing incants with even a small AoE will stun and do a ton of damage to all revenants.
basic AOE heals are a hard counter to revenants
>5. Pain in the ass for melee.
the regular ones die to like one guard counter.
the flamethrower ones can go frick themselves though.
>6
the aoe iirc goes in a straight line then spreads blue flames around
Runebears piss me off more than anything on this list
ice works pretty well on the bears but yeah frick their charge attack
I just hate how far reaching their attacks are in general. It's visually obnoxious to me to see how forced an animal is moving to create difficulty for the player. It's stupid to watch a bear do giant sweeps, and of course, insta-charge. Ever since Bloodborne, and especially DS3, there was a lot of this obnoxious design.
>no lobster
>no runebear
shit list
Yea Rune Bears should take the place of perfumers, and trade out spirit archers for the lobsters.
4 is only bad in that one hidden side dungeon in caleid where there is fricking 3 of them in a tiny ass room
the chariots and ulcerated tree spirits are fine. i don't know why people hate them. however, frick runebears.
I have never watched the Elden Ring CGI trailer.
I just watched it before making this thread, lol.
Same. I've beaten ER like 6 times but I've never seen a single ER trailer. I never watch trailers for anything.
For most of us, the CGI trailer from 2019 was all we had for several years while we waited for its release with absolutely no information.
Same, and I haven't played the game either
epic!
It honestly should've been in the game.
In 5
Elden Bros...
Didn't watch yet it it better have at least 5 Elden Bosses.
It has 6
Mohg is such a good boss, decently telegraphed moves yet you can get caught easily if you don't pay attention enough, forces you to watch your surroundings with the bleedfire, makes explorationlets seethe with the second phase transition and doesn't rely on constant backdash and infinite combos.
Just try to visualize where the fire is and stay close to him to avoid the vast majority of it.
some attacks can be circle strafed instead of rolled, if you have his shackle you can also use that for annoying bits
It can't be those 180 swipes right and only the trident pokes right?
stuff like his big blood hand explosion and overhead slams.
I sincerely hope it's an Artorias style DLC, where we travel back in time to kill Godwyn on the night of the black knives. That would be the coolest shit ever.
What fights are you guys wanting?
>Godwyn, The Prince of Death
>Miquella, The Unnaloyed
>The Formless Mother
>The Blind Swordsman
>The Twinbird
>Tibia Mariner with a fricking galleon
>The Gloam-Eyed Queen
The Godskin trio
I want to see an alternate future where the Rot God is fully unsealed.
>mariner
makes me wonder if they'll ever do something with those boats we see in the distance
It's probably gonna take place inside Miquella's dream, according to cut content
I want to see what's going on with Miquella and Godwyn. Godwyn especially seems like a DLC problem.
>developers gave in to pvp crybabies demands and nerfed bhs
never playing again
The main annoying thing is that they did it right before the split between PvP and PvE, which would have let them leave the PvE Ash alone. I don't really use it but I hate PvP balance changes fricking up PvE.
fromsoft has never done a good muli boss outside of orenstein and smough
Honestly very true. It worked well cause there wasn't as much reactionary bullshit, gameplay wise. What I mean is, people got gud at O&S, so they have to up the ante, and we end up with bullshit bosses like Foreskins.
Ruin Sentinels
My copium is they're going to announce it proper at Taipei Game Show this February on the basis that Elden Ring had a showcase in that event last year, they could do similar thing with the DLC this time. It also helps that the promotion wouldn't clash with Armored Core 6 marketing which might be held on the bigger show like E3.
I want to see where Rya ends up and I want my wife Sellen to come back in human form
It'll be interesting to see whether they add new quest outcomes that will be fricked depending on what you did in the base game, like choosing between Sellen and Jerren. And how many players will be assblasted about having to restart or do NG+3 or more to get to the new content.
The coliseum update was free
emotes unlock certain bosses too now
>emotes unlock certain bosses too now
huh?
>still can't get Deathbed Smalls without cheating
Being a fashiongay is suffering.
FIVE minutes.
isn't that what the new mech thing they announced during the game awards was
>dlc
dude the game is already a chore to replay because its too big, stop
What does replaying content that already exists have to do with completely new content that doesn't exist yet?
cope armored core is next and souls is dead 🙂
But I'm also looking forward to AC6. What am I coping with?
If it feels like a chore do something else smoothbrain
I'd rather have another dlc for dark souls remastered
