>"Scepter in the shape of a serpent devouring the world."
>"This weapon will one day become the very symbol of the Lord of Blasphemy."
>One of the legendary armaments.
>"A vision of the future briefly seen by Rykard in his final moments before being devoured by the great serpent."
great hammers are shit in ER
Most weapon classes are shit in ER
Lol no what the fuck are you talking about? Wild Strikes is insane
Worst mobs in the game tied with revenants.
Skill issue in both cases
No, some things are just annoying and badly designed. I never said I didn't manage to kill them, they just suck ass.
>Deathbird
You can kill them with holy pots
>revenants
12 faith Healing spell stuns it
What point are you trying to make here exactly?
That you have a skill issue
Your mom had a skill issue sucking my dick last night too.
The one in Mountaintops of the Giants is harder than most demigods
I got caught off guard by it and was having a good fight but then it fucking bugged out and died landing on a rock before I even got it to half health.
Most fun field boss. You got filtered
Great axes are shit.
Great hammers are good.
I like the Crescent Moon Axe's R2s
Any big weapon is good with jump attacks
And there's a bunch of ashes for hammers that make them into stagger machines
I went through most of the game with the fucking Brick hammer and lightning or holy ashes on it, ended up sticking with the Erdtree sentinel's explosion + homing spam cause it did insane stagger
Nah, they have enough stagger and damage to make up for their lack of speed.
Greataxes on the other hand...
can't believe Miyazaki stole all of those animations from persianninja, what a hack
Rykard dlc?
WHY THE FUCK SI THERE NO RYKARD ENDING!!!!!
>best boy
>best wife
>best daughter
>edgy, but not Frenzy Flame edgy
Fuck you, Mitsubishi!
>do the volcano manor quest
>woops get fucked you just get a shortcut to the boss now
??????????????????????
>can't reach the final target before completing Leyndell
>do Volcano Manor before Leyndell
problem solved
I hate how every ending to the Volcano Manor questline sucks. Better to just never complete it.
I mean every questline ending sucks dicks so it's on par for the course
That questline is not about the end reward, but the individual rewards you collect from your assassinations.
>"hey man blood's pretty cool right"
>haha yeah
>"here's a shortcut to our leader's room, come hang out sometime"
>your only option there is to kill him, no option to join
varre literally tells you to NOT use that shortcut
Yeah he tells you to use it when the Dynasty starts which NEVER FUCKING COMES
You go and have a malformed former shota pregnant to kickstart it.
It makes sense though. Everyone in the manor is retarded.
>patches is a simp
>diallos gives up on avenging tomboy childhood friend because they compliment him
>bernahl gives up on his quest because dead waifu and curses god with no plan
>rya thinks she's special
>tanith still thinks rykard isn't a crazy degenerate after he feeds himself to a snake
>rykard fed himself to a snake
It makes sense that the players working for those idiots get eaten.
is a simp
No, Patches is just a smart man getting through every cataclymic event in any game by just being the worst bastard ever.
Clearly going through the volcano manor was part of his plan.
why did rannifags get their own ending but no rya ending with snake dad.. it's not fair..
Too based. I think even Myazaki didnt expect the Rannitards to be this committed to do an entire 50 hour spannning convoluted quest for their shitty doll waifu.
Goldmask has the bet drip
Frenzy the best waifu and lore
Its beyond me why anyone would choose teh one character that OPENLY fights you in Raya and tells you to leave Rennala alone. Like wtf? At this point, i hope the DLC gives you a Mogh or Malenia ending. FUCK RANNI!
I'm pretty sure he did, since Ranni's quest is the most clearly signposted quest in the entire game and possibly in the entire Soulsbornekiroring franchise
The only vague part of it is how you can only talk to the Ranni doll at the grace you find it next to
Before they added the highlight to special conversations at graces it was easy to miss
They did it because that quest is the only way to get on top of the southwest plateau in Liurna
ranni shows you no affection and doesn't care when her friends die but rannifags still obsess over her because she's okay with you giving her a ring and her doll looks quirky, gods i hate this
it could've been rya.. or at least sellen..
I'd have given him a proper ending before the dung eater, but I also feel like his end goal with his murder cult just being more murder didn't feel too out of place.
>ebdin wimg??? 😀 Ah lobf edun wimgg yaaaaay ebdin wimg yaaaay ids a goobd gam
TOGETHAAAA
Rykard is neat. It's cool that he used his affinity for sorcery to study ancient magma "hexes" and resurrect them as int/fth spells. I just wish they were more powerful in the game, for something that requires strange stat investment.
It's weird how little we know about this snake god. It's something almost like a force of nature, but when that power is actually guided and focused by a devoured demigod, it becomes something that legitimately threatens the erdtree and everything else.
One more thing, it's funny that low-res versions of rykard and radahn's concept art leaked like 2 years before the game came out. The designs seemed so outlandish that I didn't believe either one was legit for a long time
>It's something almost like a force of nature, but when that power is actually guided and focused by a devoured demigod, it becomes something that legitimately threatens the erdtree and everything else.
Rykard's greed and madness drove that to this point
Snake ending
>shadow slowly being cast over everything, still of just the Erdtree burning in an otherwise dark world into a snake swallowing something really quickly.
I'm gonna kill Rykard for all eternity.
Damn it feels good to be a vorechad
rate Tarnished
I get what you're going for it looks dumb.
the helmet is too goofy looking for me but the rest is good
actually really cool, legs/body seem too thin tho for that helmet
looks like that kids hairdo in the need it or keep it meme picture
sneedum feedum
Can anyone tell me the lore of rykard and manor? I got the gist of it, that they reveled and fought against leyndell, but nonetheless I refuse to open a fucking vati video
rykard is an atheist edgelord into vore who wants the greater will out and the manor is his clique of followers
Holy shit, thats obvious
what I mean is why he did it
something something snake erotic
Same reason Ranni is a doll, to escape the influence of the greater will you need to discard your demigod body. Ranni did it by some sort of rune of death shenanigans to put her soul in a doll, Rykard found an ancient snake deity thing to feed himself to and become one with.
ill ask again why he suddendly hated the greater will
I'm fine if the answer is just "no particular, one day he just fucking did or realized that the greater will sucks dick"
>ill ask again why he suddendly hated the greater will
It's no different than a person in a specific society hating the dominant ideology/dominant political faction. He wanted something/someone else than them ruling the Lands Between, it's not rocket science.
Wanted to defeat the gods, snake was strong and got stronger by eating things, he had the power to become whatever ate him(?) Seemed win-win. Once he became snake he lost track of the plan and just wanted to eat everything.
The serpent was supposed to only be vulnerable to a single weapon but From decided to make Rykard vulnerable to all damage so none of it makes sense and trying to explain it is pointless. Obviously From intended you to ONLY kill Rykard with the Serpent-Hunter but for some reason they allowed you to kill him with literally anything, removing the entire purpose for Rykard feeding himself to the big snake.
Logically if Rykard could only be killed by a single rare weapon and his followers controlled that weapon (one of his former followers gives it to you, after all), it would make a lot of sense for Rykard to do what he did, but From's decision to make him vulnerable to all damage ruined the reasoning behind it. So basically Rykard the Retard did it for seemingly no reason because he was already powerful and the snake offered him nothing in return.
>The serpent was supposed to only be vulnerable to a single weapon
source?
It's literally an immortal serpent, it says so in the Serpent-Killer item description, but somehow this immortal serpent can be killed by someone weilding a spoon if they have enough patience to chip away at it for a few hours.
Not trying to be an asshole, but this is an incessantly pedantic and anal thing to give a shit about because it's been that way ever since the first gimmick boss in DeS.
The problem is Rykard has no reason to feed himself to the snake if he doesn't become immortal as a result. From could have easily made him invulnerable to all non-Serpent-Hunter damage but they didn't, they even gave him a particular weakness to frostbite, so this "immortal serpent" is not immortal and actually weak to the cold, it is retarded and ruins the logic behind Rykard doing what he did, so now Rykard is either just a retard or the snake lied to him and was just a normal serpent and not "the immortal serpent" from the item description.
>Rykard is either just a retard
The lore is retarded itself and all over the place because GRRM was involved so it isn't as farfetched that Rykard in fact was delusional and mad. Most of his own followers abandoned him when he told his snake plans to them, so clearly what he did was interpreted as insane even by them.
Technically Rykard doesn't even die since what's left of his body still moves when you return to his arena, so he is actually immortal but in the shittiest sense. You can also see him looking clearly unhinged in at least one of his portraits. More importantly though, it's an issue of gameplay over story. If he could only be hurt with the spear people would've been annoyed that their builds don't matter or that they have to fight him the same way every playthrough.
disregard mechanics
just TOOT
>Technically Rykard doesn't even die since what's left of his body still moves when you return to his arena, so he is actually immortal but in the shittiest sense.
Every living creature in the Lands Between is immortal in the shittiest sense because Marika plucked the Rune of Death from the Elden Ring and gave it to Maliketh to hide it away.
Rykard was looking for an "alternative immortality" that did not depend upon the Erdtree? That would make a lot of sense actually, he was hoping the serpent would be the Erdtree replacement; devouring everything into itself and keeping it alive forever.
Pretty much.
that just sounds like some horrible end of evangelion tang existence
basically
Thing is that Marika's gift means you can still die in body(which happened to Ranni), but not spirit, so most would just wander around aimlessly as a spirit if they aren't powerful enough to bind themselves to a new body.
Ranni's fuckery was not the normal way of dying, she had to time it precisely with Godwyn's death so she could exploit a glitch in Destined Death somehow
Sure, but Ranni was powerful enough witch to bind herself to the doll, but random people in the Lands Between don't have that luxury when they die in body.
I'm saying most people in the Lands Between only die just in body (or soul) like Ranni and Godwyn did, that was a special circumstance that required an elaborate keikaku
DON'T only die just in body or soul, rather
Ranni had to enact a completely fucked up ritual just to die in body and not in spirit.
Technically, if your body dies, your soul goes to the erdtree and is reborn or whatever happens in there.
>Technically, if your body dies, your soul goes to the erdtree and is reborn or whatever happens in there.
Not always, that was my original point. Mountaintops of Giants has ghosts of wolves and birds everywhere, and the ghost guys who are scattered around sitting on chairs who tell you lore are spirits who were never delivered to the Erdtree.
immortal as in not aging, or maybe it's called the immortal serpent because it keeps coming back
also that's not what I asked
You shouldn't take everything you read at face value. There is obviously some mysticism surrounding the serpents stated immortality, that doesn't mean it is invulnerable. The fact that you can hurt the snek with other weapons is not an oversight or a plothole, it is proof that its immortality has limits or at worst, is just a stupid legend because it is so resilient.
If we just cast a shadow of doubt over every bit of text in Elden Ring then you have literally taken away the entire plot. NOTHING is ever explained or shown to you in this game, it is all in the stupid item descriptions, and if they can't be trusted to tell the story then there is literally no story, there is no lore, it is all just bullshit made up legends and assumptions with no backing.
tbh "immortal" can just mean it gets reborn endlessly, not that it's invulnerable to damage. That's certainly implied by Tanith going to town on Rykard's head
Why are they murdering people tho?
Honestly, there's nothing much to tell apart from Rykard being Rennala and Radagon's son, and that he, just like Ranni hates the Golden Order/Erdtree/Greater Will and wanted them destroyed. He let the God-Devouring Serpent eat him because he wanted immortality and thought it would give him enough power to defeat the Golden Order(it didn't obviously).
>LITERALLY Zanzibart forgive me
Fromshart can't write.
how?
You don't remember her s famous line "togethaaaaa..... We will devowaa theverygodssssa zanzibartforgiveme"
what did anon mean by this?
people that think the zanzibart meme is the actual problem and not just a joke that lightly pokes fun at the real problem From has are very low IQ, they misunderstand very basic shit in the games just like they miss the point of the joke they spam
the joke was made by a butthurt Borderlands writer who was and probably still is absolutely seething that people cared more about the story/lore of From games than his own.
Wow
Look at this really cool design and description of a tiny weapon I can barely see the details of normally ever
>will almost never notice the detail
>make the detail anyway
holy soul
Godwyn is the strongest demigod
New save or continue for the DLC?
Probably new save and get to dlc as quick as possible. Unless it's a late game type dlc with lmao one shot everything bosses, then old save.
Depends. If previous DLCs in From Soft games are anything to go by the DLC scaling is around mid-game so a lvl 80-100 character. So I guess it depends if you want to smash the DLC or have a tough challenge.
yo
>Ruins greatsword is literally rubble from some sky temple with a hilt attached to it
>part of the legendary armaments
>Godlayer greatsword is the sacred weapon of the Godskin queen
>not part of the legendary armaments
>elden stars is a legendary incantation
>gets outclassed in damage by fireball
try to land that on someone and see which one is better
EDRG-014
gee GRRM where did these "numens" come from? The west, perchance?
I can fix her
>Swear loyalty to your rule as elden lord if you do her quest
>Even tell you if you get filtered you can always come back and live with her
Unironically you fix her. Her only wrong was to remove the barefoot giantess provoking Miyakazi's fury.
best girl and she gets BALLED
i hate mitsubishi
More like you shouldn't allow sellen to do whatever the fuck she wants because she's a retarded, power hungry mass murderer.
but she's sweet to me and that's all that matters
i love feet
i mean sellen
Why the fuck would anyone like to be the elder lord? Just chill in a cave or something like patches
Almost done doing a run with Morgott's sword and it's really shit. I hate curved greatswords, too weak to have the oomph of UGS or colossal weapons, too slow to apply bleed properly like a katana. You can't even put grease on it and the weapon art is decent but niche.
