Regardless if it was just a "technical error" or they simply changed their minds, it's proof that they HAVE THE ABILITY to just flip a switch and take away whatever you bought at the drop of a hat.
That ability should simply NOT EXIST. If they can perform it once, they'll do it again at literally any time if they so wish. And braindead drooling morons like yourself will eat up any excuse that they have to sweep it under the rug.

Other companies don't have the luxury of being able to just sit on their ass and do nothing. They have to answer to shareholders and maximize value. Valve leave tons of money on the table and hurt the ability of others to compete by doing so. It's irresponsible, which is why I always laugh when people cite Gabe Newell as some business genius. He wouldn't last a month at a company where he actually had to get results.

The only reason Steam is the way it is is because they were the first. Believe me, if GOG existed before Steam i would have never spent a single $ on Steam. Steam had a monopoly early on and a ton of backroom deals with publishers cornering the market.

Then why aren't steam fricking over the customers which seems to be such a common practice in this day and age? Surely they have enough leeway to be a bit more greedy at the expense of their customers.

Sega removed Alpha Protocol from everyone they gave it out to free to on steam awhile back

                >steam allowed a game to be sold on their platform that needed a PSN account
Sony did that. Valve picked up the pieces after they found out, forced it to be disclosed on the store page and offered refunds to everyone who bought the game but couldn't make accounts regardless of playtime.

                >steam allows videogames to add Denuvo after release and with no initial mention of DRM on their page
Yeah, the platform could benefit from immutable version control. There is no storefront where there is no potential for getting raped with DRM after the fact except GOG.

                >steam pushes paid mods
Valve tried to push paid mods once, got immediate backlash and never attempted to again. Bethesda still forces paid mods to this day. Valve only gets shit for it. Bethesda gets a free pass. Hmm...I wonder why that is...

The games industry is dying. Xbox is on its last legs and the PS5 has had its sales forecasts slashed repeatedly. Competing storefronts on PC are being choked out of existence, including GOG who are the only actual good guys amongst the major players.
