        Every encounter in world/iceborne can be cleared with ease with a high raw dmg greatsword though, infact GS with grapplehook and abusing leap or dismount attacks and mounts is great.

        I even use the lance when I want to cheese a monster, as in, I've actually learned how to use it, and I find it boring and not fun to play. They went out of their way to make it un-fun so it wouldn't be OP. Pretty early in the game I was able to put together a build that "can block normally unblockable attacks" so as long as others are doing good damage, you can cheese fights with the lance.

        IQ-bell.jpg anon is definitely smoking crack today. I'm trying to learn Charge Blade and I feel like I need to smoke crack.

          Lance is dog shit in end game, because no matter your skills you'll eat a lot of chip damage on every block. Evade lancing doesn't exist. In World lance was invincible, but low damage output. In IB, lance is low damage output, and every monster can eat your hp bar through your guard regardless of skills. They tried "fixing" the problem by making lances have more base damage, instead of fricking making evade lancing viable, or fixing motion values. The homosexuals at the MonHun team want only ranged weapons to be safe.

          Why is hammer there twice? Easy to use for morons, but hard to master for geniuses? I’ve played hundreds of hours with hammer from Freedom Unite up to Rise but I’d consider myself on the moronic end of the curve

          Hammer is easy mode in Tri and earlier.

        What was so bad about in in IB? Yeah, sure, spamming rush was the optimal play, but it had nice movement otherwise, and a versatile base set. Even the base motion value wasn't bad.

          In World it was backhop charge slash spam and in Iceborne it was PR spam (and you didn't even finish it, you roll cancel and continue). Additionally, it lacked a nice balance between Blunt and Slash damage that Risebreak has, which is balanced enough to actually get you to think about what you're doing. Both Rise and Sunbreak also have a nice balance between burst and sustained dps (for slashing damage anyway). So the fight has you constantly making decisions between burst slashing damage, sustained slashing damage, or blunt damage. Combine that with also finding windows for shoryugeki and you get fun and engaging weapon. It wasn't all fun and games, in Rise the tyranny of the the Tigrex drumstick caused it to be quite dull during T1 and T2 if you were chasing optimized damage, but overall it's been a much better experience. The problem is that this play style is pretty precariously balanced around the current set of animations and MVs, and even some small tweeks could quickly through it out of whack (not to mention Shoryugeki probably isn't returning).

        They learned from their mistakes by fixing Perfect Rush in Rise. Easier to cancel out of with a sideroll, two different finishers, perfect roundslash lets you change direction at the end. I just hope they get rid of bing bing bug shit. Shoryugeki was fun but not every weapon needs invincible parry/counter mechanics especially weapons like SnS which already have top class maneuverability.
