Nearly any FPS, according to anti-cheat teams, are at the point where anywhere from 10% (retail games) to over 33% (free shit like CS) of players are using some undetectable paid-subscription cheat suite, making use of humanized aimbots and ESP. You wouldn't believe it is that bad, but most players who cheat really are just THAT bad that not even those kinds of hacks get them consistent wins.

Only ddos mitigation that actually worked and best part is it was free for all dedicated servers. No. A VAC ban stops you from playing the game you got VAC banned from, you can still play any other game that has VAC, but you aren't allowed to do certain stuff in the community for example liking and disliking workshop items and artwork for games with VAC. After 6 years your VAC will turn invisible to others but still visible to yourself.
How do you know that are you vac banned?
Steam settings > Account and then look for 'VAC Status' on that page. You can also see it on your profile page.

You get banned from playing in vac protected servers of whatever game you cheated in and items from that game get locked to your account.
No, if you get banned from community forums multiple times you just just lose the ability to chat, trade, market, use forums and profile. You can get your account permabanned if you anger the chud valve staff though.
However getting a VAC or game ban only affects protected games. You can still play unprotected games and servers and offline games. So it doesn't really affect much majority of MP games are shit anyway.

To be fair you can actually get a false vac ban, I had one before. Did absolutely nothing I mainly play single player games and had maybe 200 hours in csgo (all casual matches, no cheating, griefing, moron words or anything like that) and somehow got one. Funny thing is I wasn't assed appealing it (like I said, mainly single player) and valve just removed it like a week later.
Yeah same I got one as well, only multiplayer game I play is dota 2, 5k hours but I never cheated or anything, automatically went away in like 3 days? I think it was during that time the autopurged half the game base for low behaviour score and I somehow got caught into it (didn't lose my dota account tho)

The reason it's dogshit in practice is because of the focus on making it cheap, companies use industrial processes to extract as much of the solubles from the coffee, because that way when they dehydrate it they get more instant out of it. A good cup of coffee is 20%-25% extracted, the highest you can really push it at home is like 30% and that's going to taste like shit. Instant manufacturers reach about 50% extraction.

"I got hacked" usually means you gave it to a friend, or he looked at you type it in. It's very rare to get hit by a keylogger, even when it was new in the early days of flash.swf ads.

Sometimes I seethe a bit because I just wanted to unlock all the guns in MW2 when I was 14, and I've still got to put up with having the VAC ban shit on my profile almost a decade later.
But it also isn't really much of an issue, I'm VAC banned in just that one game. Only problem it presents other than the shit on my profile is that I can't vote on TF2 items for whatever reasoning they came up with. No, what I mean is the VAC system is DESIGNED so people can be banned from different branches of the VAC system so they waste time trying to cheat elsewhere instead of just making new accounts.

There was only one game I ever cheated in, and that was Starcraft 1. And the only cheat I ever used was a program to detect who had allied + checked allied victory in player vs computer battles because it was common for a single person to plan to backstab the lobby by unticking the victory box and accusing other players of betrayal.
Well to be fair, I DID occasionally use a map hack in 3v3/4v4 NR10 min Top vs Bottom games to detect if someone was rushing early. Man those were the days...

Look at tf2 and csgo, every match either has a closet cheater or a blatant one, a lot of the time there are literal cheater stacks.
TF2 has cheaters because the Source 2007 branch of VAC hasn't been updated since 2013.
