if you exit out of a level it dumps you in the correct location, so it's extremely likely you'll be in that exact spot when you first notice the light

        >See light rays hitting center of room.

And this is why everything gets streamlined. Why do you think most of the characters in Mario Wonder play the same? You would be too confused if they didn't. You dumb.

I didn't believe this was true for a long time, but recently I sent a friend a playtest build of a 3D platformer. And, I kid you not, he never adjusted the camera except when I hinted to him he could. It took him 5 minutes to notice the giant "0" above a star door and he complained it was hard to find despite being literally the first thing you'd see walking into our castle equivalent.

Hazy Maze Cave is a floor panini that resembles a portal
Shifting Sandland is a pannini of the wall
Tick Tock Clock is a pannini of a clock face
Rainbow Ride is a floor pannini of some clouds

Only the Bowser sublevels arent panninis and those levels were not part of the castles original design

you dont need all 120 stars to beat the game, and anyone whos going for 100% completion is obviously already following a guide
(the point was to sell guides)

        Anonymous

While I'm sure guides were made for this game, nothing in it was cryptic enough to require one. At least for my generation anyways, most likely it's modern gamers that require one.

I managed to 120 at age 8, no guide
The game changer (pun not intended) was when I stumbled upon 100 coin stars, and talking to EVERY damn toad after I accidentally talked to one and got a star
Sometimes you just gotta explore, but I agree, there was plenty of good in those times (unlockables, cheat codes, new game plus) and bad (every magazine and guide dupping you out of allowance just for the same crap you already had at home)

Something I like to do for fun in modern games is just sit at spawn for a while, without moving.
Almost always you will get a pop up on the side of the screen telling you how to move if you do this, sometimes it takes a few minutes.
Its honestly sad when you realize its there because people actually are that fricking stupid.

Me and my brother had no idea about this, we discovered it by complete accident, and was one of the greatest feelings I had while gaming. We didn't even know about the flying cap at the time.

The last time I was genuinely surprised by a game mechanic was when I discovered you could pick random shit on the floor in GTA IV after finishing the main story.
