Excuse me if I am late: Thoughts on RE: Village

I just finished this game. What were your expectations and experience of it?
Would you replay it?

I enjoyed my time with it, but don't think I would replay it. I was confused by a lot of the scripted fights early on and probably wasted ammo. There were some memorable locations like the first mansion. The factory was confusing as frick and the maps were not exactly clear with indicating what was and wasn't a wall/door. The baby scene was genuinely horrific. The post game unlock bonuses were well done, but I cant see myself playing it again.

I wouldn't replay it. I feel like it's a really good experience the first time around but aside from the exploration and puzzles* the action gameplay is merely decent. The former stuff cant be replayed. Still, I love the environments, I have many saves set up just to revisit places.

And also worth noting no game has infinite replayability

    I just replayed it, I give it a 7/10
The writing was really stupid and Angie and Moreau's parts felt rushed

I liked it and replayed it three times around almost two years ago. Its nothing special but was fun.

True. They needed more ehm, screen time.

I like 8 more than most. I've replayed it a bunch of fun and I love the theme park ride vibe it and 7 have with moving through horror cliches with each new area.

I like 8, yes its silly, but I love it, I love the way the doll quips lmao just thinking about it made me chuckle. Ive replayed it alot. Done knife only. I play it mainly in 3rd person now.

I thought it was dogshit. I played on the hardest difficulty just like with RE7, but where as RE7's gameplay was tailored towards survival horror, RE8 was an action game with the same style of camera and movement. The result was a disaster.

I enjoyed it, however some fights are too scripted in the beginning and most of the side-content if fairly bland and the enemies in them take more bullets to kill than how much money they give you so there's no point in killing them.

The dialogue was horrible, the worst part of the game by far. Enemy designs were cool, but I much prefered the horror oriented gameplay of RE7. Plot is fine, most characters I wish had more screentime.

Denuvo makes sure you can't use keyboard and mouse. If you try to circumvent it to enable the peripherals, you may get a game ban listed on your Steam account.

it's too short. it doesn't feel like there's enough action. dollhouse - > reservoir part goes on for too long without a substantive combat section. a lot could be solved if the reservoir had a stronghold like combat section that was about 30 mins i feel.

the script is great (ethan is wonderfully funny). visuals and sound are great. plot could use some fixing for chris, 8 really makes first person really feels right for resident evil, but the guns are lacking in panache.

I have similar thoughts, here's how it went for me, played Jake's campaign, absolutely enjoyed it, I loved that you hit the ground running and within three first 40 minutes or so you're fighting giant monsters in a big warehouse---> played Chris's campaign, I found It boring---played part way through Leon's campaign, found it downright irritating and than just dropped it.
Raid mode is kino though, and I got pretty good at the rooftop map, I'm top 500 on switch and top 1000 on xbox.

I really enjoyed it. It wasn’t too scary and had great action exactly what a good resident evil game should be

It seems like a lot of people had the same experience as me in that it was really enjoyable for a playthrough, but just didn't leave me with the motivation to play it again. It was actually pretty forgettable compared to all the hype on release.

I couldn't even tell you why because when I remember what actually happened in it, it was a good game. Maybe it was paced bad or something. It feels like totally different genres at times, turning from a classic RE puzzlebox to a walking sim horror, to a series of setpieces, to a shooting gallery, etc. I remember Heisenberg's fight being super underwhelming and left me wondering why he had a hammer at all when he never uses it.

I played this, along with RE: 1,2,4,5,7,8 and I couldn't tell you the plot of any of the games other than "they is trying to rescue someone", because the dialog, characters, voice acting are so incredibly shit my brain refuses to engage with it out side of shooting everything that moves. I don't think my IQ is getting filtered by the game, I think the game is getting filtered by my IQ or possibly my 'tism.

They were all implanted with a cadou, which was a sorta mold-based lifeform that looked like a foetus. Magento dude literally just gained the ability to generate his own electromagnatism with it. Which was dumb because they seemed to be setting it up that he had a mechanical electromagnet inside him like the guys with drills and jets and propellers inside them.

They got them all from Mother Miranda, a research scientist friend of Spencer who turned her experiments into a quasi-religion that tapped into local folk belief. Said mold creature thing was also able to create a sort of "afterlife" through it's ability to store memories in its hivemind, meaning you could basically live on in a dream within it if you chose so.

      >Trying to make sense out of Resident Evil's plot
Those games plot is basically a bunch of action movie(and sometimes horror movies) tropes mashed together without thought, with dialogue that could have been legitimately made by AI.

Yeah I like the NG+ loop, however it suffers from the game being too cinematic, especially early on. The art style alone is enough to keep me playing over and over though

Like 3make and 7 the intro feels way to long, to the point where i don't like starting up a newgame+. Between the intro and each area feeling kind of like its own game i don't see myself going back to it like other titles in the series.

Village is fricking shit. Best part of the game is the beginning. The game feels like an absolute chore to play through, especially at the factory level, which is where I'm at now.
Honestly my only motivation for finishing this game is so I can uninstall it and clear space on my ssd.

I replayed it a few times to get att the trophies.

The opening is a slog every time.
    The castle is the highlight
The doll/baby part is annoying after the first run
Swamp man's area is ok but it feels like an afterthought other than the boss fight
Metal cowboy's part is longer than it needs to be and the boss fight is a pain on higher difficulties

    Best re since 4
