      No, you absolutely have to craft gear because that's how you progress. There's no exp or levels.

      You can't avoid it entirely, but you can severely diminish it through server-settings.

      You can set all the Vbloods to max level and give yourself max level gear at server start.
      You can build a comfy castle and explore but you're reducing the game to tracking Vbloods and killing them.
      If you don't increase their level only the final 6 or so will be a challenge.

      Brutal is so moronicly harder than normal.
      Bosses kill you in 3-4 hits and there's literally nothing you can do except git gud because everything is gated behind boss kills.
      I'm filtered by every single boss in act 2 now and the gameplay gravitates towards "use 2 counters and stay away and spam bow attacks and abuse greatsword invincibility frames" now.

          Maybe for co-op, but solo the damage should be tweaked a bit and unfortunately you can't adjust damage numbers in server settings.
          The new moveset alone is a must. Make every fight a completely different fight.

      The only real reason to move is for a change in scenery.
      Unless you have stupid teleportation-rules in place you don't really need your castle to be close to anything.

      But if you must move, use the move castle-heart feature and be sure to overbuild walls/floors/stairs in your current castle so you can actually make the thing at your new location.
      You don't have to use up all walls/floors in order to complete the move.

      It's unironically best on relaxed as a fun castle decoration and peasant slaughtering game. Hard action game bosses aren't fun if your character is as limited movement and cooldown-wise as you are in this. Hard mmo style bosses aren't fun outside of an mmo setting and without mmo style class design.

        The cooldowns REALLY feel like they're not tuned well when you get to Adam and Dracula. Adam just straight-up does not feel like he's meant to be a solo fight.

          Dracula is harder in a party, he applies a debuff that deals huge damage and has to be purged. and summons 2 wolves per player constantly.

        Everything does insane damage to you and you deal no damage.
        Every boss fricking summons adds that also deal insane damage to you.
        And on top of that, all bosses get new mechanics that completely change the fihts and these mechanics are often also bullshit.
        I'm fricking tired of running to the fricking boss 20 times in a row just to get killed by an attack that does 150hp, because my fricking dash is on an 8 second cooldown.

          I might load up cheat engine and increase the CDR so I can have fun. action games + cooldowns do not mesh well. Its fine for their early bosses but the last 6 or so seem like complete chore even not on brutal.

          We had trouble with Adam, we were down to 1 guy left and managed to take him out. Dracula was obviously bullshit. And we didn't realize the wolves shit until we looked up videos on people fighting him. and then tried soloing him. Hes easier alone. its really stupid.

                in most arpgs you have two broad ways to design offensive skills:
                >resource builders (combo points, buff/debuff stacks, whatever) and resource spenders
                >enablers (you must use this spell to "unlock" the big one) and killers
                but if you go that route then it adds visual clutter to the ui or on-mob visual effects. it also robs focus away from the action around you and onto wherever the resource is displayed. it's clear that the devs didn't want that.
                but what we ended up getting instead is short cooldowns that constantly robs focus away from the action and down to the ui row. this could've been done better with some kind of central visual cues instead of the remaining seconds number that easily gets lost in the visual effects.
                as for defensive skills, you can't avoid cooldowns. you want them to be available at-will but not spammable at the same time.

                you have a point with the defensive skills. It would definitely need an overhaul. It really is just battlerite's system. Which was great for a 3v3 environment. I'm not sure the numbers and values are lining up in this one though.

          Solarus was very difficult in the launch patch, he got nerfed and there is higher level gear now.

          Adam didn't get nerfed though which surprised me, he still has blatant input reading. With Dracula gear hes a bit easier due to OP gear.

            i think they went "we want the mmo raid audience", tried to cram wow-style boss design into the game, and balanced it with the assumption that you'll be in multiplayer and somebody will be around to help out.
            i think the telltale sign is the wolfman's adds and bookbawd's adds. their adds are needlessly tanky but at least you can knockback bookbawd's adds. for wolfman, you just have to focus one at a time and concede that you can't prevent the heals 100%.
