I know Captain Falcon's theme sounds like a cheesy christian rock song, but that track is still a banger.
Blood Falcon's song is better
Also fuck Golden Foxes
Anybody got the GX/AX OST? It's corrupted everywhere I find it.
First google result I found (khinsider) had the entire soundtrack and the files seem to be fine on my end.
CAPTAIN FALCON WILL ALWAYS BE FOUND
Nintendo is going to immediately forget about your series the instant they delist this game in a year.
>Gankers official list of F-Zero themes (feel free to add what you want)

This is great.
Just found the following link a few days ago and I love it.
>cover of a track from a racing game
>ft. Grace Kelly
So many times in the past I tried to have F-Zero threads to no avail. It makes me so happy to see everyone rejoicing and celebrating this franchise unabashedly. F-ZERO 99 is probably my game of the year and that's with Pikmin 4 AND WarioWare Shove It Up Your Own Ass Game coming out in the same 6 month period. 2023 has truly been my year.
?si=wlvqDUEWo1OGPqIT
My #1 theme.
?si=wz8t_2S3ska0RiWe
My #1 theme from the games.
Why is Dream Chaser so fucking good?
We may never know.
Stay tuned for a music themed Bart Classroom shortly.
For me it reminds me of megaman X5, it's so fucking good
>WarioWare Shove It Up Your Own Ass
>you survive the GP
>you get to the last race
>Silence plays
I love these kind of chill tracks in brutal levels, such a nice contrast between a heavenly theme and a hellish place.
There's this subtext to that music carried by the weight of having reached the final race as a top20 finalist which empowers it heavily. They absolutely nailed it with 99 and the elimination style. I am so happy bros.
Same. It's my favorite video game trope.
?si=nx_DLNvMbbl-5T3b
I've grinded Silence in practice mode so much that it's more calming than anything. Also people are still bad at that stage, so if I drive normally I can easily come top 10 without ever having to boost. The music that really makes my sphincter clench is Death Wind. Mute City and Big Blue? Easy. Sand Ocean? A bit of an endurance test but still pretty doable. As long as you never panic boost you're fine. Death Wind, though? You're allowed to fuck up once, plus an extra amount of times equal to however many KOs you've gotten. Anymore and your ass is ranking out.
On a completely unrelated note, I was looking for reaction images and came across this in my folder, and it'd make a pretty fun 99 game with a couple modifications, I think.
Gauntlet 99 could be pretty rad.
what's the best Gauntlet game you can buy right now?
You'd think the originals were available in some bundle/collection or similar. I've honestly only played the PC and Amiga ports of 1 and 2 but I loved them as a kid.
4 player gauntlet 4 on the genesis.
How would you even market Gauntlet nowadays to the newer generation? Arcade flavored Diablo?
Retro Roguelike Diablo with RAD oldschool characters!
Gauntlet 99 would just be Realm of the Mad God
realm chad in a fzero chad thread. nice
Silence is the only level I can’t get the background for. Using the Pink Stingray. I’m still like 2 seconds off. It’s maddening because I got the port town 2 one first try.
On Silence, drift through the S turn, boost as soon as you're lined up straight, then take your finger off the throttle and drift around the Z turn right before the finish line. And obviously, take the mine path and try to hit the jump. You can miss it once, but not more than that.
Aw. I’m taking the outside track. I find that I get so much speed I can take a shortcut when I land. Works well in GP but it’s really slower for time trial? That would explain it.
For GP I'd take the long route on Silence for the first lap. Let other goobers clear the minefield for you. But you do probably lose at least 0.2 seconds taking the long way. You'll eventually get a feel for drifting around the minefield corner and hitting the jump. Really the biggest hurdle to overcome with Silence in Stingray is just learning when to lay off the throttle. You'll find that out through trial and error.
Big blue might be the best track on all games, excet on OG SNES, because this is the superior theme
>best backstory
>great theme
>good character design
>okay machine design
>the machine fucking sucks
>he always finishes in last
What did they mean by this?
It's a good theme, don't get me wrong, but the best GX theme belongs to the Doctor.
?si=d-3sfLySfew7vkvG
Astro Robin and Blood Falcon for me.
By the way YurboKevin, if you're here, you're a fucking moron. I was in 2nd literally all of Port Town 2, and your lucky bumper shit cucked me to fucking 23rd.
?si=IMFtl-nKY4vMuEyP
Still the best, but honestly there is not a single genuinely bad track
Technically not a F-zero track but still...
>mfw 0:48
One of my favorite themes and stage. too. I love the intro and the third lap theme too. Reminds me a lot of link related, which also happens to be for a plant-themed stage as well.
?si=E4s5XzsyavG78BJ5
The sudden shift 57 seconds in makes Kate's theme god tier.
Best girl, best theme, too bad about her machine in GX but I still use her.
DID ANYONE ORDER ALL THE CHEESE?
Don't see it listed, so I gotta post it here, sorry.

The most underrated song in the entire series because it's not really part of it.

>woooooooooooooo

That and the AH when he bumps into a wall
>I don't mind it so long as the inbetween stuff doesn't disrupt the racing. Personally I'd like to see some sort of mission mode similar to the one in mario kart DS. Side activities that make you a better driver.
That's the kind of thing I'm thinking of. Like, say you're racing in Mute City. Before the race you get a little hub to walk around. Other racers could challenge you to races with special rules or maybe you find some dude who's inventing new parts and wants to open a shop but needs you to test all his prototypes in various ways that give you challenge-style objectives, that kind of thing.
Thats the stuff. If they gave a custom part, colour or decal to customise the ship then that would be cool too.
Another alternative is the splatoon approach and the lobby (garage) has some sort of personalised area that other players can see along with whatever message relating to the current GP people want to display.
I'm happy so many people are playing SNES F-Zero. They understand the joy of playing time trials on Silence 🙂
It's all about taking the turns after the s curve at full speed after your boost. If I can do that the gp will be mine.
hell yeah brother
I'm so happy F-Zero 99 exists. It's always what I wanted. The only negative thing this game has is that it doesn't have a private lobby code system like Tetris99 and Pac-man99. Like, for real Nintendo? I wanted a Ganker lobby racing. Other than that, a perfect game.
I don't think private lobbies existed at launch in the other *99 games, either. They'll probably roll out more features as time goes on, they have to start by making sure people like the main modes and getting them invested before splitting up people's interest and attention.
Wild goose fag here
what does it feels like to use gold fox and/or red stingray?
Golden Fox feels like dying on the first lap because you got too Boost-happy (but the acceleration is real neat). You also get pinballed quite a bit if you can't manage to frontline.
Stingray sucks holy shit lmao
Excuse you that's Fire Stingray, colours are for inferior cars
Stingray fag, here. I haven't gotten used to Gold Fox yet. I've used the hockey puck a decent amount and he's pretty fun. Stingray is similar to Gold Fox in that it's a car of extremes. If you're good at driving and making corners without touching the wall, it's an amazing vehicle. However, if you so much as touch a wall without a boost in your pocket (or a path to boost on), your speed goes right out the window, and it takes a long time to get it back. It's not that bad in time trials, but it's super noticeably in races and GP. Because if you so much as breathe on a wall, your speed tanks, and everyone you passed will pass you and you'll be back in the thick of things. If you can reliably not touch walls/bumpers/bombs, it's the best car. If you touch those things a tiny little bit, it's still pretty good. Anymore than that though and this thing falls behind fast.
If I was going to try and win in other cars, I'd try the hockey puck next. His turning is similar to Stingrays, and I like that. As a side note, I feel like you could easily slap Pikachu's face on the Stingray and use his tail as the rudder. Too bad the Pokemon Company and Nintendo are fucks that don't want their mascot in a death race. They're not based like they used to be.
A- player here. How the fuck do you win a race?
Bad luck, you needed to win while you were still in C and B. Sorry, bud.
explain pls, b-fag
Skyway
Get in first place and then don't crash
1. Use a modern controller (not the SNES one)
2. Use the analog stick
3. Steer gently and lightly
4. Don't forget to use L and R to slide left and right instead of always turning to avoid things
5. Hover around the bottom of the Top 25 for the first couple laps to scoop up lots of sparks
6. Use the skyway to avoid areas where people tend to bunch up and knock into each other, such as 180 degree turns
7. Don't over-use the boost
8. Rack up KOs so you can boost more
9. Stop crashing into shit
10. Pick Fire Stingray
This is exactly my strategy but I am using the d-pad on the SNES 8 bitdo pro.
Switch to analog, trust me. I went from being happy with top 30 or top 25 to being mad when I don't break top 10 in just a couple races after switching to analog stick controls. Getting those light, precise taps is a lot easier when you can just flick a stick slightly instead of pressing down on a d-pad.
No I got you. I need to try it out. I’m just used to the way this game controls because of 30 years of practice you know?
>use the analog stick
What the fuck why would you do this? It's still digital controls, just mapped to the stick
First, because there are only 2 directions anyway (except when jumping I guess) so you don't need directional precision like a platformer or fighting game. Second, because it's much easier to flick the stick very lightly for extremely fine turning control compared to trying to press down a d-pad button and then release it as fast as possible. Switching to the analog stick improved my ability to thread between bumpers tenfold.
Not true, it's easy to see. Just try it, tilt the stick a little and the fin behind the stingray moves a little, tilt the stick more and the fin moves more.
Believe it or not, the game has analog steering. Just try it and you'll see. It was literally the first thing I noticed during the tutorial.
Maybe its just because its what I've played the least but I haven't really enjoyed the X soundtrack other than the rearrangement of classic tracks like mute city or big blue.
If they were to make a new game should they go for more comic book aesthetics? That was something that GX sort of dropped and though the game looks great it was kind of a shame. It'd also help the game be more fast and smooth on modern Nintendo hardware.
>Edgy comic with rock music > generic futuristic techo slop
meds
Nostalgia for that stuff is bigger than ever and would probably help it sell more too.
>gx music
>bad
Metal is trash, bro.
It's all part of what would now be cheesy 90s comic book aesthetics though.
Metal is fine but X's soundtrack is still largely underwhelming outside 2 or 3 standout tracks.
Yo! Wasn't today's F-Zero 99 thread interesting?!
A great race deserves a great score to go with it. And I'm not talking about points! The F-Zero franchise has a multitude of great songs and soundtracks to accompany you on your racing journey. Each game has a different musical style that really lends itself to the given atmosphere of each title. The SNES version may be familiar to you thanks to 99, but the others are worth a listen too, with X hosting a rock selection, and GX featuring a wide range with an emphasis on electronic music.
Today we will be focusing on the original SNES soundtrack. Did you know a full Jazz arrangement album was produced for F-Zero's original OST? Released in 1992, the album takes every song from the SNES game and gives it a jazz spin. It's a great way to experience the sounds of F-Zero in a new light!
Give it a listen here!
?si=9P1zgBD1QmyYc9UA
Whoops, looks like that's all the time we have for today. See you next time!!
I've been listening to this for the last few days. I kinda with they made the track openers less abstract, but it's chill listening.
>Did you know a full Jazz arrangement album was produced for F-Zero's original OST?
Nothing like some smooth jazz to soothe the soul, there goes 50 minutes of my life.
how the shart do I stop crashing out constantly?
I don't even use that much boost or run into walls very often but there's just so much fucking bumping I don't have enough power to make it through one lap sometimes
What car?
Play the Goose. It doesn't give a SHIT about being hit around.
have been playing stingray, I thought having the second best durability would be fine but maybe not so
I started off playing stingray, but recently switched to Falcon and have been doing a lot better overall cause I can boost more comfortably.
Only bummer is I'm still not quite used to cornering with it. Keep slipping and pinballing when I thought I aced a turn.
With the high acceleration cars you can let go of the gas to get sharper turns with less of a penalty.
It has the second best durability, but I believe the Goose actually has a special feature to not be knocked around as much. It's mentioned specifically in a tooltip.
here's an idea, they should add a soundtrack shop where people can spend tickets on songs that will play during races
I want that and 16-bit remixes
I would be in heaven
>game getting such a negative backlash that Nintendo constantly shills it here
Sad.

nice one anon
I swear I had a dream about this game last night and I haven't even been playing that much.
thank you fellow chad
I was surprised to see in the credits that this game was developed in the US. Pretty cool!
You should trust the Americans with games about killing each other and moving at high speeds.
LETS FUCKING GO!!!
I never played F-Zero outside of fucking around on X and GX at friends houses over the years. I bought GP Legend but haven't put the time into it, and F-Zero 99 is the first time I've really committed to playing. I'm going to go back and play GP Legend, really give the series what it deserves.
F-Zero chads, I'm happy for you. I hope things keep going and we get a new game.
I just want to go fast! I just want to go fast and win!!!
Golden fox and Fire stingray?
Time trial fodder to get those neat backgrounds for my card
Wild Goose and Blue Falcon?
real racing hours
I FUCKIN DID IT LADS
bravo
Ayyyyyy
Proud of you, Anon.
>Obscuring the car
Go on, tell us which one you used
It was the fox, wasn't it?
anon... those are his rivals
I said that the car he's using is obscured by the rival display you illiterate gay
Actually my car was still in the Skyway, so you wouldn't see it even if the rival display wasn't there
Damn, I've been utterly japed, now tell me what car you were using
It was the fox, yes
I understand, it's pretty fun.
I managed to get a win before even getting the first compete in x races decal, it's just so free once you get a good KO.
Right now I'm trying to push the rankings with the falcon but while I can easily get top ranking for the vehicle, it's hard to overtake foxes and stingrays with this pathetic mid-mobile.
>The further ahead the leading pack is to the mob, the more bomb bumpers spawn
>Break out in front a dodge an unholy amount of boom bumpers
>Finish 1st 5 seconds in front of 2nd
The poor chumps behind me must have been obliterated
This is why they're perfectly fine. A good racer should be able to avoid them and actually increase their lead. Like you know you're against some good racers if you're in 15th place and still encountering them.
>Wild Goose
Why did they give the cool alien guy the dumbest machine name? Everyone else in this game has a great name.
THE GOOSE IS LOOSE
Pico is a genocidal alien thug dude, one has to imagine that doesnt make him very smart.
>one has to imagine that doesnt make him very smart
nta but isn't Pico the galaxy's greatest assassin or something like that? I don't think you can have that occupation if you're a dumbass.
Not with that fucking gangsta grip he ain't
>genocidal
He doesn't discriminate, he'll kill anyone
He went to Earth once and thought geese were the coolest animals ever.
what do you know?
maybe he think geese are cool
>he doesn't know about Canadian geese
There's a reason that you should play the Goose as an aggressive, mindless tank.
geese pick fights they can't win
you say that as if goose mains are here to win
that's merely a side-effect when everyone else is dead
A goose is a very aggressive bird.
I also assume it's for the fun of the contrast with him being a hitman.
>t. Doesn't live near geese
Those little fuckers are mean, aggressive and obstinate as hell.
>Wild Goose
>dumb name
Get the fuck out of here.
Wild Geese is a nickname given to Irish soldiers who went abroad to join foreign armies. Or maybe it's just a play on wild goose chase.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guard_goose
Spend some time around geese and you'll learn to fear their name.
?si=6HOyp8OFcPP2DR3Z
I just realized this stuff predates the thugshaker trend by nearly 20 years. Why is gay sex so funny?
*male gay sex
It's shock humor. The entire Inmu and Gachimuchi genres were built on the same pillars as Rick Rolling but with a much more creative spin, repurposing the material into something derivative as opposed to being a straight reupload.
Another second on GP. Here's a lesson for everyone:
If you get the skyway on silence ONLY use it for the s turn. I know it sounds obvious, but it's worse than you think. It takes the outside track rather than the shorter track when the split happens. It cost me my win.
What do you mean? Could you explain a bit more?
I assume he means there's no skyway for the mine path
He means he used the skyway near the start of the track and it fucked him. You know how there's that huge bend with an optional shortcut through some mines, that everyone takes? The skyway path takes the huge, long bend and fucks you over.
I always take that shorter path. The mines are never an issue but sometimes I miss the jump and have to use a boost over the gravel
Oh yes, I once accidentally did that when I was pushed to the long path by a bumper and it screwed me hard.
What the others said. I fucked up a turn early on, a d figured I could use the skyway after recovering to get back into it quick. It didn't go the the minefield path, and I ended up even further behind on the 2nd lap.
I'm really impressed with this game. I never really game SNES F-Zero any attention but it's shocking how technical the mechanics are in such a simple format. It actually feels skill based unlike the other 99s. No dubs yet but I'm determined
That's the most surprising thing. They called it a "battle royale" for marketing reasons when it's really an extension of the first game mixed with elements of the later games. At this point it could be considered a remaster, but if they add new tracks and stuff like the datamining suggests then it could be considered a wholly new game in the series.
Man, it's getting harder and harder to survive a race. Especially White Land, it's like I leave the pit stop with less energy than the previous lap even when I didn't boost.
Where is he now?
>something awful
probably chuded out
>GX Blood Hawk
Who approved this
in jail for X crimes
>cripples the Blood Hawk
>but gives the Black Bull some of the best stats in the game
What were they thinking with this, did they just buff him so he's a larger threat in story mode and forget to balance his car for GP? Every GP I do this gay is in the top 3 unless I make the effort to knock him out
THE FIVE

Best theme
I didn't learn this until recently (while browsing the wiki), but Blood Falcon, Deathborn, and Black Shadow all take samples of this song for their theme
Yeah I found this a few weeks ago too. Also found the original chapter 3 theme that everyone has been wanting for years. The original artist posted it.
?si=XBJEyC68cRyamAdc
It's like destiny is shining on us F-Zero bros
Neat, I thought that was just a fan remake. I hope someday they find the original songs for the cutscenes, there are some good ones
fuck there's so much hidden gold in this damn series. I totally forgot about this song and now I want it too
That's pretty cool.
>play normal races, team battle and pro races for hours without issues
>the moment I start spending tickets on miniprix I get disconnected twice in a row

Skill issue.
Give me a single reason why i should use the analog stick. I can win just fine with the dpad.

>Playing stingray a bunch, feeling solid
>Try wild goose because Pico is based
>car feels like shit
Any tips, picobros? I am getting my shit rocked and feel like I should just stay on the Stingray.
Stay behind a pack as much as possible looking for prey and collecting sparks.
any tips for KOs? I know if they are smoking you can spin attack to kill them, but I am too focused on the race half the time it feels like and I miss opportunities.
It's the worst car in the game when in time trial. The durability and good decent top speed really make up for it all when you are in GP, beset by 98 human racers Nd an army of bumper cars. Get kills as often as you can, but still focus on good racing. You're at a bit of a disadvantage compared to ray and fox, but you also won't be bounced around QUITE as bad so you can race along your line with confidence.
Has anyone called this the Dark Souls of racing games or have we moved on from that crap?
I've seen people acting like the contrary, so here's a notification that you CAN get KOs using the skyview boost. You have to be closer to the opponent than a normal boost, but you have a small speed boost on the ground before you launch upward and this can kill a smoking opponent.
Also contrary to popular belief, you DO gain energy from KOing bumpers! It's a small amount, not a full refill like KOing a player, but this small amount can save your life and has saved mine.
Get those kills, especially if it's a Golden Fox player
bumpers give as much energy as the maximum limit increase. They're pretty much mandatory for grand/mini prix
I'm happy for F-Zero bros.
The amount of people playing this game is staggering. It's incredibly addicting, there's no way Nintendo believed this game would become as popular as it currently is. Hope they stop neglecting their old games because of this, Star Fox, Chibi Robo, Kid Icarus, etc need love too
>The amount of people playing this game is staggering.
Don't get me wrong, the game IS genuinely good, but it's also free (well, more or less), which is probably why so many people bothered giving it a chance in the first place.

They're A-list in my heart.
Were the other NSO Battle Royale games not as popular?
Tetris 99 is popular and Mario 35 was very popular too but it was always a limited time thing.
Pac Man 99 was the only one no one gave a shit about after the first few days.
Yeah can't wait for it to be dead in a week when all the normalfags leave and nintendo drops its support in 3 months
Yeah I can see why you're expecting that when the same thing happened to Tetris 99 and Pac-Man 99, but this also functions as a single player game. It's basically a direct upgrade from the SNES game, you know, the F-Zero game Nintendo shills the most. A serious F-Zero game would sell like flies on shit in 2024
Tetris 99 still gets new skins and has a healthy online, what are you guys on about?
can you win with the blue falcon?
Yes. I mean, not me specifically, but other people can.
yes, it might be the shittiest vehicle but it still works
>Never vote for Mute City
>Always get Mute City

Gonna be honest, I always vote for Mute City and Big Blue because I like their music the most.
>Queen cup is one week away
how are we feeling bros?
how many of you doing reps in the Snes?
ready for White Land 2?
I'm tempted because I never played the SNES version, but I'd rather wait for them to release. I like being surprised.
>how many of you doing reps in the Snes?
This is foolish because the mechanics are different. Just play practice mode if you want to get better at the tracks without distractions.
Oh, I now realize you're talking about reps in unreleased tracks, whoops.
Honestly it'll be nice to play Practice mode on queen cup tracks for once. Always hated how you couldn't access 80% of queen/king league unless it was in a GP.

>don't fear the corner sections of the guardrail on the final series of turns, driving through them doesn't lose that much speed
Silence really ain't that hard, anon. It shouldn't be that difficult to get the card background. I actually just got a 1'38"00
Hell yes thanks anon. Gonna have to practice a bit. Also I'm still going to boost after the second turn boosting before and getting through is too hard.
No idea how much I appreciate you. I've only done a few GPs and I've at least survived Silence without issue, but far from mastered it. I'll take the advice and groove.
not sure why it records % voted for winning tracks in the stats. maybe getting good at predicting the favourite can give you good flow
>players you encounter in FZ99 don't appear on the add friend list
But I wanted to add dickyUOH...
Explain to me what im doing wrong on Port Town and Silence since im not good at this game
The magnets and then series of turns on port town fuck me up and silence feels like a pinball machine
Do you have to just let go of the gas entirely and hold strafe? Can you let go of the gas while boosting?
>Do you have to just let go of the gas entirely and hold strafe?
Yes.
>Can you let go of the gas while boosting?
Yes you'll still be going kinda fast though.
Yes and yes
If you angle slightly away from the magnets, you can drive through without getting pulled in
Alternatively, you can try just boosting through
The magnets work kind of like wind does on death wind you have to be steering away from them to not get succed and for silence I brake before the s curve then do a no accel no drift turn into it then a no accel drift turn out of it.
You can indeed let go of the gas while boosting for tighter turning. Heavily use L and R to help with getting away from the magnet rails.

Might as well disconnect its like challenging people in CTR who never once drop sacred fire
What do you have to do to unlock black as a color? I hope it's not something impossible like...actually winning.
Funny you mention that.
Oh no
how do you deal with stingray always having to start from the back because of its shit startup boost?
orbs
You usually are in the middle of the action if you start on the right foot, the right place for spinning into your enemies
>Get top 10 or sometimes even top 5, maybe even 2nd place
>Just happy that i survived and my rivals all died
After getting 1st on Mute City a bajillion times I can confirm that bumpers spawn in the same sequence and positions, every time.
I was noticing this in Sand Ocean. Always a gray and bomb at the dirt patch on the final lap.
>Mute City 99
>frontrunners get absolutely fucked if they make one LITTLE mistake sending them back to 10th and below
fun game, but its problems are FUCKING problems. Playing good just results in punishment

f zero fans.
anon there are 99 other racers. if you make a mistake obviously someone is going to overtake you
You literally admitted you have to make a mistake first.
I think you should go back in to a game your speed. Have you tried this game called Mario kart?
looking forward to its final booster pack and its eventual 9th installment, whens the next mainline f zero coming out?
If you were playing good you wouldn't have been sent back to 10th and below.
ATTENTION RACERS! THERE WILL BE A GRAND PRIX STARTING IN APPROXIMATELY 13 MINUTES!
ATTENTION TO THE SMALL CABAL OF ELITE RACERS WHO HAVE HAD THOUSANDS OF HOURS OF EXPERIENCE OVER 30 YEARS, AND 30+ VICTORIES. IT'S ALMOST TIME TO SQUASH THE HOPES AND DREAMS OF NEW RACERS WHO HAVE NOTHING.

I never played them in Smash but now I get to fuck them up. Finally.
>playing like a champ in white land 1, 1st place with a lead, entering last lap
>3 fucking red bumpers lined up blocking my path going onto the icy u-turn
Oh, yeah, that loss was totally on me. Very fair.
careful. Any form of pointing out bullshit being in first just leads to an army of f zero fans parroting the same phrase.
maybe they should add the red bumpers to practice mode so people can learn how to dodge them
Just get good.
I'm trying, but some pattern are harder than others.
I would actually really appreciate that option.
I know
It's okay to let go of the gas and go past them carefully and slowly. You'll lose time, but you'll lose even more time bouncing around and blowing up.
I will concede that occasionally the red bumper placements feels kind of bullshit, but usually they're at least reasonable.
I have chilled out on the bomb shitters over the past day or so, but sometimes...
should have spun
Im not that anon but this game has so many little things to keep in mind that im shocked i can even get top 10 sometimes
Only from the first, and you still get locked into a direction. I would have had to move all the way to the right, then spin.
Spin attacks guard you from explosions.
No they don't
t. got fucked
yeah ngl that is a bit much, hope they tone it down
f zero fans look at this and go
>GiT guD!!1!
Ive gotten all noteworthy unlocks and I still get pissed off with all the hurdles they throw at the top 5 racers
He had ways out of that though. He could have just spun. He could have repositioned before it dropped him. Etc. Furthermore, the rng chaos is part of the fun. have a nice day
Pick one King Cup track to get into the Pro Circuit next week
Assume Fire Field won't be it
That leaves Mute City III (unlikely)
Death Wind II (likely)
Red Canyon II (Very likely)

I finally won a race!!
..too bad it was a mini prix so I don't get the achievement skin, and I only got 3rd in the prix in the end, but who cares I got a win! A clean one, too!

Oh yeah. It's on.
How do people know how to go for a KO do they just waste their boost specifically to ram anybody smoking and spin into them. I cant kill anybody even if theyre smoking and i spin at them.
black smoke is the signal.
You start smoking when the bar is in the red, but it's not that much smoke, when you are criticilally low, you start smoking more and black.
yes
Smoking does not = KO
They have to be flashing as well. Then they're within KO range.

Anyone else like getting KOs as a Fire Stingray? I’m just bullying and often getting 1st place as brawler.
If I'm not pushing people into bumpers, then I'm not having fun.
Got me Ninty Online for this earlier today and hell, I'm enjoying it. I never really got into F-Zero whenever I tried the original SNES game but this is fun
So what's the best car to go for? Which one lets me win the quickest? How do I not die?
>Which one lets me win the quickest?
>How do I not die?
those are two different machines, pick one stupid frog
If you've never played f-zero, then I recommend you become goose. Best choice for learning the game and not eating shit in the process. Regardless of what you pick, don't greed on boosts.
yeah I really don't think falcon is a beginner car, as weird as it sounds.
You're supposed to start at the bottom with the stingray then work your way up to Falcon once you're not a shitter.
Falcon is the worst one right now and you skill with it would be put to better use with Gold Fox which keeps winning races especially death wind
>A communication error has occured

>S- rank

>keep jobbing early on in the hp
>have never had a Silence race where I didn't place 1st
if you didn't get your wins over the weekend and you aren't a NEET your knight prix dreams are over. there's going to be champs in every race that already grinded out their lines both on time trial and against the most common bumper patterns. you have no chance of taking a crown if they haven't given themselves a blue falcon handicap for the sake of making things interesting. by friday top 10 will only be populated by prix winners and the rest will just be a pack of geese getting high off KO cope
is goose secretly the meta?
noticing top finishers in my races are gooses very frequently
I feel goose will get better as everyone else does and frontrunning becomes less common
feels good playing in the middle of the pack trying to score some kills and unload on the final lap
k-two, good races. You're a gay, let me get a GP win. I'm stuck in S- I don't have 30+ wins, these pairings are ridiculous.
>2nd in GP
I'm A+ rank, yet I haven't won a GP or 99 race yet. It hurts.
People really no life this game and get 10000 wins and have all the badges already
Im at B rank and only won 2 races so far

>brake is on Y which is really awkward to press with B (accelerate) on the opposite side

>Whole gimmick is that you play against 98 other people at any given time
>Doomposters insist it's dead
how does that work in their heads
My first time in the podium in GP, messed it up a bit in Sand Ocean and Silence but I'm so happy, especially after I crashed a millisecond right after the end of Sand Ocean after 11 whole seconds of no energy. I'll post the webm in a moment because my heart stopped during that final section.
congratz, anon.
keep the good work.
Finally converted it. Just look at this, I'm so lucky I lasted that long.
How do you get videos small enough? Mine are too big
Took me while, had to cute it to 20 seconds, reduce it to 360p and compress it.
sheesh
You're lucky, that guy was determined to make a kill.
>my first F-Zero game ever
>mfw getting to Silence for the first time

Step 2: Throw all of that out the window as you get rammed all over the place from all directions
You ain't seen nothing yet.
>The optimum path involves smashing into the wall
Practice on Silence and press Y to use the breaks, try that and see if that works for you
You're not a little Timmy that can't handle the light breeze on Death Wind I and II, right?
Part of me wishes the game still had vanilla booster mechanics so i could see the glorious ping-ponging going on in Death Wind 2 when that comes out.
damn, the competition in this game is fierce
i usually don't even have to pay that much attention to lines in racing games to win most of the time, but in this game i can go a whole race without making any mistakes and still never hold the lead for more than a second
You're making mistakes you don't notice then
ah, i don't mean missed opportunities, i'm sure i make plenty of those
i just mean i'm not hitting shit or just generally being stupid, which is usually 80% of your competition in something like mario shart
>white land 2
what in the FUCK is this jump
Ive played through this shit before, but I don't remember this
The only bullshit map I remember is fire field
So does this maybe mean we'll get a new mainline game soon? I'm addicted, bros
Miyamoto wont allow it he hates F-Zero
it's better than doom
I just saw 2 players in a race get the exact same time and tie for 3rd
So that can happen
>Got the badge where I completed a race without bumping into a bumper once
>Finished top 25 in a mini Grand Prix as Fox
Awww yeeeeee
I'm having a hard time paying attention to both my opponents near me and the track coming ahead, so I miss a lot of KO opportunities.
Does this just get easier as I learn the tracks?
>Think im on the final lap so i waste my skyway and boost until near death
>Its only lap 3
This sounds like cope but the F-Zero announcer telling you its the final lap would help immensely
Also the default map view they give you is dog shit and i havent changed it until now what were they thinking
Part of it is that 3 laps are just so common I think
I've gotten good to the point where I've actually been able to start spotting and targeting flashing players to KO them
Need to sleep...work in the morning...
No! Gotta race!
Do people still trash newcomers in Tetris 99 everytime it gets an update?
How bad is this game gonna get in a month or two
in a month or two fire field is gonna be in rotation and most people are going to get fucking annihilated in that anyway
Is analog actually better? Like some anons earlier in the thread were saying? Cause it feels like shit to me.
The majority of use for steering is minor adjustments and the analog is better for that

neither will you until you learn to duke them
I rarely get it because I rarely crash out. I just think they're funny. This game is all about the funny bullshit that happens when you least suspect it.
i think the blue falcon is my favorite even if people seem to think it's bad
looks the coolest and plays kind of like the fox but with better handling and less fragility
Dying Grey bumpers keep swerving out of my way when I try to boost into them...

>reach a corner
>let go of B so I can slow down and slide smoothly around it

Is there any reason to break over just letting go of the gas?
I keep letting go of gas whenever i start going all over the place but i assume you wanna brake and drift around tight corners
Id like to know too cause im never using brake and i wonder how people are so far ahead
not really as long as you're also using L/R
>Been playing as Fire Stingray since release
>Finally decided to switch it up and went with Wild Goose
>Transformed from a speedster that's terrified of any contact into a brick shithouse that shrugs off everything
>Positioning has gone down, but KOs are way up
I hope I can get a win with this machine in the future, this is just too damn fun.
I'm here to help my fellow Falconchads get some well-earned wins. Here's what I've learned so far after getting 10 wins under my belt
Stages to Pick, Best First
>Port Town
Falcon likes more complex courses. Boost locations are the start of the magnet section, and the squigly section before the final curve. Know when to let off gas for turns here
>Silence
Also very strong for us. Drive safe and really know the turns for when to gas on/off. Boost the big straightway after the first zig zag. Boost the final straightway right after that complex corner (you want to start at the soonest straight line, right past the jutting corner)
>Sand Canyon
For similar reasons above. Boost in the straightaway before the really sharp 180 turn and the final curve. Skyway after the sharp turn can be very strong
>Big Blue
Not amazing but serviceable. Dont boost through the dirt, mainain speed and boost the squiggly bit right after. Skyway halfway through dirt
Stages to Avoid
>Death Wind
Blue Falcon doesnt regen fast enough to keep boosting and he goes too slow to keep up without. This is a tough stage to win on
Neutral
>Mute City
Basic. Boost through the second dirt patch, drift past the first one everyone boosts through. Boost after final curve to recover speed. Skyway right before you hit wall after first dirt patch
>White Land
Boost after the wide snow before the jumps, take the right jumps first, left jumps second. Line up so that you land full speed on the straight second after. Boost the final curve. Skyway during second snow area is insane
General strategy is to start out pacing yourself, try to stay above 25 and gather sparks. When you're at about half or so sparks, start working your way up. You want to skyway on the third lap up to the leaders and then outdrive them from there. Your extra recovery will help vs stingrays, just make sure you block them as they try to pass
Falcon gags are insufferable. For me as a Stingray Chad, the easiest track to dominate is Sand Canyon. The turns were all made to be taken at full speed. Never need to let go of the B button. Feels good, man.
You didn't win the race.
finally got a 1st in a mini gp. They are so much harder than knight gps
When you're approaching the pit stop, is it better to use your skyway before or after it?
skyway is most effective at parts that force you to slow down, they tend to drag on for additional time
Depends on the car and the stage. Golden Fox doesnt want to waste time not boosting usually. So he want to use it quickly. The rest of the cars, you usually want to save them for the big cheater moves.
The skyway boosts you, meaning you go through it faster, meaning you spend less time healing.
The pit and starting areas of maps are usually pretty straight and simple as well, meaning you won't skip much.
It can be helpful if you're low on energy and really need to refuel without having to deal with other players potentially bumping you out of it or worse KO'ing you, but yeah going faster will refuel less.
>we're getting more maps likely next week according to the website
sweet
the game will have died by then
it's over
don't smile because it's over
cry because it happened
I'll still be on. You can race me and 97 bots. I'll be the last asshole on this game
F-zero X/GX fag here, holy shit SNES F-Zero takes a while to get used to, but I am happy to be playing F-zero again, and online to boot!
Have hope friends, maybe one day we'll return to the world of 2200 km/h racing.
it's incredible how nice and shitpost free these F-zero 99 threads are more than likely because Decklets and emulator vegans can't play them
I laughed harder than I should have at this, damn anon you hit that spoiler homerun!
Hoping we the BS Content, this is the perfect time for it too
If it happens, which clown car are you going to main?
Blue Lightning Main Here!
>more than likely because Decklets and emulator vegans can't play them
the other thread has a doomposter arguing the game isn't free because it needs a switch online sub
>Fire Stingray mains are cowards
>Golden Fox mains are top tier tryhards
>Wild Goose mains are there for blood, not wins
>Blue Falcon mains are newbies, casuals and those dedicated to the Falcon
Anytime i see fellow Wild Goosers in the top 5 i get happy
Swap Fox and Stingray and you have it right.
I've been maining my bro goroh since SNES, I'm not switching now.
I CAN'T LOSE IN MY FIRE STINGRAY
How do I carry in team battle?
Do you play mostly handheld or docked?
I'm just glad we're back. It's a new game even if it technically isn't, and people give a shit about F-Zero again. I feel good about the future.
Ahem...
FUCK BUMPERS I LOST 1ST BECAUSE I HAD TO TAKE A TURN IN BETWEEN TWO OF THOSE + 1 BOMBER
Nice argument but
>ZR
As much as I love the original 4 racing bros in a row, is there any chance they were going to add racers from X/GX eventually?
>X/GX
Probably not.
Good chance you'll be introduced to the ugly ass BS machines though.
Don't talk shit about my ridefu
>only slightly lower speed than the blue falcon
>Acceleration even better than the golden fox
>lightspeed hp recovery
>worst grip of all machines, but you can do sick drifts around corners with it
Even though they're goofy as hell I'd welco0me them. Ideally maybe work on them a bit more and work on the BS tracks too. Don't want a track that's just called "Forest". It should be Devil's Forest like in X.
?si=__TNAIUkZDsqp4p7&t=367
The Satellaview content might actually get in this game cause it was datamined
They could also add stuff from the GBA games but the sprites look way different
>run into an explosive bumper
>veer off into the gravel
>decide to just stay there to stay safe
>people still dashing into the gravel to try to kill me
Why in the goddamn fuck can't i do grand prix whenever i fucking want to. Why does nintendo thinks they know better than the players?
Lemme guess, you just installed?
Missed the weekend
I work 12 hours on both weekend days.
poor wagie
the 2 choice system is to keep the lobbies populated. they should probably have gp's more often though
How do we make the Blue Falcon viable without making it broken?
release new tracks
what's wrong with Blue Falcon?
The Blue Falcon suffers from the all rounder syndrome. When everyone else is minmaxed, the decent at everything guy suffers.
The current tracks are not that complex, which just makes the Fire Stingray that much better.
Personally I wouldn't bother with the Falcon in Knight League. Likely a strong pick for King League.
it's fine you just have to be actually good instead of using gimmick strats to win with it
Blue Falcon isnt THAT bad. I've gotten double digit wins with it. Its definitely worse than the others and much less consistent though. In my humble opinion, all you need to do to make it work better is increase top speed a tiny bit (give it Goose's top speed) and then a minor grip improvement.
Blue Falcon is fine. Playing it simply requires heart, soul, and a strong sense of justice.
How do you win with each car?
>falcon
race well, no cheese
>fox
boost a lot
>goose
kill people to increase max heath, use health to boost
>stingray
get out front and use max speed to pull ahead
Falcons stats do let him perform some skyway cheese pretty effectively. One thing he can do better and more safely than other cars is intentionally sandbag early on in the teen placings to collect skyway, force himself ahead to catch up and then finish his bar closer to the front so that he can steal wins with it. The only other car that can do this very well is Fox, but Fox is taking a much bigger risk doing this.
Its situational but I've won a couple times intentionally doing this. It works really well on White Land.
>Blue Falcon
You've got to be strong and fight to keep your spirit alive
>Wild Goose
BUMP broS
>Golden Fox
Boost all the time
>Fire Stingray
Get into first and stay there, if you bump a single wall you're in last.
I'd like to get more kills with goose but I feel like I basically just have to get lucky
Do you let go of the pedal on silence or do you hit the brakes
depends on the car
The Goose
you're gonna need those brakes then pal
Brake.
Brake. I don't think simply releasing the pedal is enough.
Assuming we get a new game should the artstyle go for more realism, something akin to GX, or stylized like the anime or the comic artstyle of X?
hyper-surrealism
I'd like a return to the comic book style. Really tap into 90s nostalgia.
The grungy comic book look would have broader appeal, I think. GX was a tad goofy.
X style is the coolest. GX looks nice in gameplay, but the rest is hokey.
REMINDER:
BUMPING INTO WALLS IS GOOD. IT'S A SIGN YOU GO FAST AND IT MAKES YOU GO FASTER.
t. Pico
>C shitter
>96th
>63rd
>52nd
>2nd
Hhhhhhhhhh fuck!
why do i get the feeling red bumpers fuck over positions 2-15 more than 1
Because they do, if the racer in 1st is far enough ahead to not have to dodge players, all he has to worry about is succumbing to nerves. But there's one other factor that screws first more than anyone, its the lucky bumpers. If a good player gets a bumper and wants to piss in the leaders cereal then he can easily ruin their race and they ALWAYS spawn in front of first
My favorite part of the game. I only ever once let a leader finish first on me. I regularly score 100+
here we go
Anyone ever listen to the F-Zero Arranged Album? Here's some of my favorite songs from it.
>seeing all these people loving and engaging with F-Zero
This is nuts to me. Back in the day me, my brothers, and my best friend and his brothers were the only ones I had ever known who played these games. We loved them, we were always trying to beat each others times or blow each other up in X/GX. I still have all our custom cars on my gamecube. But now I'm playing multiplayer wit hundreds and hundreds of unique racers every day and seeing all this discussion. Its awesome
i lack the self control to not crash out on big blue. the boost is just asking for it at all times
I can't do it falcon bros...
The fox is too powerful
Falcon wouldnt give up!
only by overcoming the fox can you become a falcon
does anyone actually like dr stewart? when your other options are captain falcon, goroh, and an alien, he's lame in comparison
>he's lame in comparison
but that, dear anon, is precisely what makes him based
he's the only intellectual among the racers. I can respect that
I get the impression he's supposed to be charming because he's a debonair savant. Upperclass and not humble about his talents (master surgeon AND and F-Zero pilot), but the problem is he only ever comes across as a bit lame. His GX redesign also did him no favors.
>picking a car based on how much you like/relate to its fictional pilot
Is this autism?
The context of the pilots was sort of the point of F-Zero's marketing: it isn't just a faceles high-tech machine, it's also associated with a specific character.
>choosing solely based on statistical advantage with no regards for style
no this is autism
>he picks his car based on soulless stats instead of whether or not it’s piloted by an alien assassin or a bio-engineered humanoid t-rex
couldn’t be me
Pilots are one of the biggest draws to F-Zero that all it's indie imitators and the likes of Wip3out lack. That and the gambling of health for boost, why has no indie dev used the system?
>That and the gambling of health for boost, why has no indie dev used the system?
Probably because they'd be accused of just ripping off F-Zero.
He's a contrast to the other options as well as a generational racer. It runs in the family. He's classy.
The anime made him part of the team rather than this sort of self centered ego. Still, he is credited for saving everyone's life in the lore after the big accident in the games.
If I can do it so can you. Hit practice mode and focus purely on improving your Mute City run. Read the comment here
Add this to the Mute City strategy. Never let go of gas except on the final curve. On the final curve, lean and let go of gas briefly to preserve speed. Do this until you are really comfortable, then just keep trying on Mute City. Only boost in the spots I told you. Spin to defend and preserve speed only. You can do it, just spend 10 minutes getting the strategy down in practice mode first.
I can't take it anymore. I want to fuck Mrs. Arrow. I want to ruin Super Arrow's marriage.
I've gotten two 1st place finishes through sheer luck
Idk if I can get another
I think of it this way, if you get even 3rd place youre still better than the 96 other players in the match
Youre not gonna constantly win in BRs even ones you like a lot, i learned that lesson in Bomberman Online i put like 100 hours into it
fox supposedly top tier but i can't stand driving on 1 pixel of HP the entire time, too stressful
I can’t beat knight grand prix
use the goose
grand prix is impossible....captain falcon....i just wanted....to....be fast....like you....
>Walks to the camera so everyone can see how SAD he is
What a gay.
>Ending race 2 of the GP
>Already racked up 4 KOs on golden fox
>several wins each with fox, goose and stingray
>STILL can't get a win with falcon
>multiple 2nd places and many 1st by machine
Goddamn it Captain, how do you make this shit work?
>most want to be good with Fox, Falcon, Stingray, Goose, in that order
>actual skill with machines is inverse to that preference
Guess I'll just kill everyone in my way then.
Have fun dodging all the red bumpers I'm spawning in advance by boosting, your durability will save you I'm sure
Yes, that was the plan.
>almost choked and crashed at the end of a grand prix
Ended up being 3rd overall, best I've done in a grand prix so far.
Reminder you can brake while boosting
>ran out of power on silence

A name I'll curse for the rest of my born days.
Yeah, and it's not like names are unique anyway. I once thought I saw a video on here of me getting blown the fuck out until I realized that it was the wrong car, color, and decal, and also they were in first so it clearly wasn't me.
>top B. Falcon got 8th

Why is the skyway a jerk sometimes and drop you off somewhere really dumb
>Why is the skyway a jerk sometimes and drop you off somewhere really dumb
The skyway lasts longer the further you are from first place. Sometimes it'll deactivate in an odd way, or even be forced to last longer than it should based on where it can safely drop you off.
put this on at the ready prompt
