It's been decently fun so far. Still in the Apartment complex.
Make sure you play the elevator game.
How long is it?
A little over 2 hours if you know what you're doing, otherwise, 3-4
How do you get the third ending in Chapter 3?
I'll pre-empt that with this dude's vid he seems competent enough
I was able to get the first two but I must be missing something. Also frick those mutant cultists.
ah, scratch that; he spells it out. thanks. I'd really love to see more of the cult's effects on the world at large, but I still think 2 is where the series peaked; the mystery surrounding Meadow Hill was really interesting.
It's often the case for the 2nd game in a series to be the peak. You can take mechanics to their limits, have a nice, self-contained side story and have a little fun.
Oh shit is chapter 3 finally out?
MALPHAS
ASTAROTH
Yes.
This song was amazing
That song really had no business going as hard as it did.
You can't hide from God, hijo
cool guy.
ok, maybe gonna try it, you all sold it to me
but one thing
is all this demon thing is real, or game used this "lol it's all in your head, you are monster, it's all guilt trip"
It's all in your head
as in "the cultists carved out someone's face and now a demon is coming out from their head"
It's definitely real
Though 2nd game is the dream sequence chapter
if you already know then why even play it homosexual, go watch a youtube video
[reloads shotgun with malicious and religious intent]
DON'T BE AFRAID JOHN
I need a gif of him wienering the shotgun. absolute kino
ty anon
i like how the game completely shifted it's tone with this section, frick the yellow stick, it's time to use the .52 stick
>we can't expect the cross to do all the work
Reminds me I still really want to see an interpretation of Joshua Graham in the style of FAITH
>I kick arse for the lord
We need more games where you kick ass for the lord.
Gary went from being just some guy, into easily being one of my favorite horror villains in the last decade.
What are you talking about? He is just some guy, just like you and me.
Gary is a normal human being, just like you and me. He loves us.
Gary is a normal human being, just like you and me!
Gary is a normal human being, just like you and me!
I am a normal human being just like you.
The final fight was surprisingly kino
RAIN OF SPIDERS
THE POWER TO SAVE MYSELF AND THOSE I LOVE
AMY MEA
MEA TRINITAS PROFANA
FAILURE
UNFORGIVABLE
It completely flipped the spooky demon hunting for balls-to-the-walls action, and it surprisingly worked out
I feel like it's because it didn't really change any mechanics to accomodate the action besides having to get hit twice by Gary and being pretty much unkillable during the final fight
Best ending by far.
By the way, besides being our contact in the apartments, who even was Lisa? Who was Karen even?!
Lisa is the mandatory love interest. Of course, her completely shrugging off being possessed by Alu and nearly murdering John likely means she's used to this sort of shit, so maybe she's someone that's in the same circles as Father Garcia?
I suppose... but giving a love interest to a priest seemed like an odd choice
John's acid trip seems to imply that they're childhood friends
john's trip implies they were the two left over after the massacre at that school-church-thing in chapter 2.
Who the frick even wants to go back to the quiet life after you saw actual fricking demons and know that you were strong enough to fight them and send them reeling?
Even better when you know you now have a chance at hunting down the biggest demon of them all after fricking up all its plans in the region and beating an (incomplete) unholy bastardization of The Holy Trinity itself.
No better way to banish the Dark One's minions than with your holy bro.
>Garcia!You son of the god!
Soo Christgays cant b***h anymore about not being represented in vidya?Because holy shit they actually made Priests look like badasses in this game...quite rare.
Priests as a concept are badass. It's just that most of the time being a holy warrior looks more like superhero actors in front of a green screen
if god/demons were real, I would 100% be a fricking demon killing priest, a soldier of god
if jesus ascended from heaven and was like "sup b***hes it was true lol" I'd drop to my knees and kiss his feeties, you know how cool it would be if Heaven and Hell were real lmao
literal demons rule all of society and culture, and you can go kill them right now
I honestly don't think "Church bad!" is that prevelant of a trope, especially with how common clerics and stuff are. I find it annoying, but that's mostly because of people who hate the IRL church projecting their disdain onto the game.
Maladjusted comment
THE POWER OF BROSHIP COMPELS YOU!
See? When you need shit done get a Mexican priest. God damn hearing "hijo" really resonated with the taco inside.
>tfw GARY DOES NOT LOVE YOU
The absolute state of Johnsisters
>implying
Everyone who Gary "loved" died or worse. Meanwhile, Gary got his ass beaten by a priest even as the Unholy Trinity incarnate.
It's even more hilarious since the DUSK crossover and Gary's note implies pure Demons in FAITH >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Lovecraftian Outer Gods and Gary STILL lost.
You missed the direct intervention from God
Who are they
>
Left is Jakob (the cult leader from DUSK. The one that sent a guard "dog".)
Middle is Gary.
Right I have no idea, but I remember seeing a green body in the apartment complex. Maybe that's him?
Right guy might be a peak at a future New Blood antagonist, maybe? Possibly Gloomwood related? They'd totally do some shit like that.
>Possibly Gloomwood related?
Could be. The aesthetic fits.
But I do remember a green body in the apartment with the hole in it. That caught my attention, as we never saw a green person before.
There's also the blue body you find on the seventh floor.
The little boy? Isn't that the fake child that the one mother was using as a surrogate after her real son died due to some Halloween party related accident?
I took it to be that Timmy, the Little Boy, simply played the elevator game and never came back. I always thought it was his mother, making a new one out of that fricking gruesome thing in the same room.
But since the body disappears, you're probably right.
>Left is Jakob (the cult leader from DUSK. The one that sent a guard "dog".)
wait
are they related or it's just silly easter egg?
honestly, i can see that happen.
Both games are from the same publisher. They're as related as characters in smash
Jakob actually has an impact on Chapter III
How so?
Imagine being Gary a demon born through complex rituals with all of the powers of Hell and losing to a guy with a limp and a cross
Post yfw Gary loves you
I’m getting out skilled wtf are these bullshit enemies
Such is the power of the Second Death.
Should have had more Faith
>wander into foggy graveyard
>screaming skeleton running around
>can't see him until it's too late
>MORTIS
I like it and have much to learn about this fresh hell I've invited upon myself.
Many more MORTIS await you.
Best demon and why?
None. Because my man JC is better than all of them 🙂
I want to say the fake/dream UNSPEAKABLE from Chapter 2 simply in terms of design. But probably Tiffany overall, with Gary as a close second.
Chupacabra and the demon in the sewers in II are honorable mentions. Probably Baby demon
Amy has always been my favorite.
IMAGINE the handjob/blowjob
Tiffany is great, but I loved how oppressive Peekaboo was in the Ch.3 demo. Miriam's wild screaming makes her fight extremely fun though.
>Wanna come over to my place?
>God isn't here ;D
I know it's supposed to be silly but they really did make her very cute for this little gag.
The big face demon is the one that feels like a fight the most, so I'll pick that one
So what was the deal with the third secret boss? No intro or anything. Maybe cut for time?
have a nice day, shills
Dogshit game

OP here.
Alpha Beta put up a playthrough. I thought "hmm, what do the lads on Ganker have to say?" and searched the archive, only to find a single dead thread. Figured I'd post one of my own.
Simple as.
I'm LDS, so I find the Catholic aesthetic of priests and things interesting, but not how Priesthood in general works.
>only to find a single dead thread.
Oh...you mean mine?
If you mean
from 6 hours previous, then yes. I'm sorry it didn't take off anon.
Oh, that wasnt mine. I guess someone else tried
GARY DOES NOT LOVE YOU
For me, it's Critters for Sale
I didn't even know that BORTIS 3 came out recently.
>He's got a gun! Open fire!
my sides
Did you also try getting killed by traffic too? Silly, but fun death.
i love how easy it is for you to randomly die to something completely non-satanic cult related
Man, I love religious horror and body horror
Anything with demonic babies, or just anything with babies that went wrong, fricking creep me out.
Also, did the cop that helped you in the first stage die off-screen after chasing the hippie?
you didn't follow him? you can find him in the alleyway where the bluebird was, he's been reduced to mulch by the cultists he was after
Okay yeah that's what I thought his corpse ended up being.
Goddamn it, John, grab a gun already.
John adamantly refusing to grab a gun is really funny to me, since even Father Garcia uses a gun.
A GUN WITH ONE BULLET
He got ganked by cultists.
They clearly weren't hippies, anon
Good shit.
oh wow posted this in the wrong thread, derp.
You've gotta be shitting me
No fricking way
The fact that it's in an abortion clinic makes it even more hilarious.
>it's really there
oh my fricking lord
there's a lot of immersion breaking shit like this. he has a picture of V from that other new blood game too. outside the clinic there's a reference to someone, Gaster, and Uboa-chan.
dunno who this homosexual is but it was the 1st video of the game:
?t=1179
bit too on the nose.
would've been better if the corpses were arranged that way.
I can't believe the first game came out 5 years ago
i can't believe no one is playing this game except for a handful of gays. booo
>why yes I'm one of the many sewing discourse in every thread I enter; a growing trend that has finally gained traction in the 2020s. how could you tell?
anyway miriam bell, gary and amy are some of the best horror characters in years
>Miriam Bell
I think you mean our lord, the UNSPEAKABLE anon.
Amy was an excellent obsession for John, and she was handled pretty well throughout the story.
Considering that the second death is -mostly- done willingly though, I can't help but think that Amy the victim exists only on John's mind as his "I could've saved her", whereas the real Amy probably knew what she was getting into somewhat
I imagine that Amy probably knew that something would happen, but I don't think she was expecting having her mind, body, and soul utterly hijacked in such a manner. We already know that Gary lies fairly liberally regarding what demons are actually like in the setting or what awaits his faithful.
gary's extremely charismatic and fricks people up with drugs while indoctrinating them
Also, given the whole "Gary is a normal human being, just like you and me" thing, he probably causes a fair amount of SAN damage just by being around him for sufficient periods.
Meh, gonna buy The Excavation of Hob's Barrow. I need me some more folk horror games on steam. I might get this game when it drops to ten dollars.
you can always pirate both of them
Too lazy to do it and Hob's Barrow looks gorgeous. Faith is coming to gog soon so it will be on gog games to pirate.
it unironically looks like zoomie dogshit, go play chrono trigger
I already beat it. Now explain to me why it looks like zoomer shit.
reduce the soi intake
Hob's was a step up from their previous work, imo. I kinda wish there was a little more in the way of influencing the events though
Yeah I wasn't a fan of the ending cuz I felt like we were being hand led to it.
Man, frick Gary
Cowardly piece of shit
I could have saved her
John, you already redeemed yourself.
Faith is another example of how “less is more” is so important for horror.
What exactly does God do to help John when he shows up in that one scene? I didn't understand that at all.
>Here, John
>You now have more than 1 HP
>Satan: I killed John and now I won't be stopped!
>God: No you didn't lol
Basically [But it refused] moment.
You take significantly more hits to kill which is fair because it turns into incredibly light bullet hell
...Unless you mean in the memory back when John was doing the first exorcism on Amy.
In that moment, Amy is already the vessel of the unholy trinity. God lets John escape from the final boss, but he has to come back to finish the job later which is what happens during the game
Were the brothers really real? Gary says they were an illusion, but Father Garcia mentions them too in one of the letters. Were they just fakes?
It's most likely a demon pretending to be God. I seriously doubt He'd let Amy's fall "upon thine head". He'd probably encourage him to keep going and finish the job. He'd ESPECIALLY not just help him get away and leave the demon unexorcized.
No, the twins were born dead and their mother couldn't accept it, which also explains why they weren't in the family portrait, anytime they show up is as an illusion meant to mislead others
I wonder how the cultists managed to trick so many people with them, because they clearly were in the kindergarten too. Perhaps some small demons masquerading?
Wouldn't surprise me, all those kids' families were haunted by demons, the drawings tell us as much, either they were involved with the cult beforehand or the kindergarten itself was a breeding ground for them
I think the kindergarten was an indoctrination camp considering that a) it had a hell dungeon underneath it and b) what you said about every kid drawing demonic stuff.
"I saw the devil"
"he tricked me"
The white figure could've also been a demon scaring John off. All chapters have a cult ending so it's possible he was allowed to leave with a broken faith so he could be of use to the cult later
He basically gives John a number of extra lives so he doesn't instantly eat shit against the Unholy Trinity. It's not infinite though, so John will still die if he takes too much damage in quick succession.
That's the Devil tricking John before his arrest, it's a flashback. It's how he got caught up in everything since the beginning of the games.
John spells it out in the normal ending.
>I saw the Devil
>He tricked me
so is this good or fake-good? is it going to trick me into having fake-fun?
Faith doubleplusgood
Where the frick is Karen
Who the frick is Karen
Maybe this one isnt the best ending, but it's arguably the Kino one
what is this ending?
If you take too long to exorcise Amy at the very end of the true end, you wake up and confront her in the locked door in John's house.
Then it replays the events of 1 where you revel in your failure with Amy and Michael holding you
Or if you dont do the stages and just drive home at the start.
It's debatably metaphoric, but in that ending the profane sabbath happens, cultists raze the neighborhood and john reveals he was keeping Amy in the locked room. Amy drags him into her facehole, John wakes up in the ruins of Amy's house, and after crying his way through the rooms Amy and Michael hold him as they perform an unknown ritual. Malphas' hand swallows John and the house as a hole, leaving a clearing in the forest as John is hinted to become the vessel for the antichrist
DAMNATIO MEMORIAE
Basically John fricks up, either by not exorcising Amy at the end of the true end or fricking up and letting Lisa die, which reveals that the locked door he refuses to enter had Amy in it all along - the Profane Sabbath is completed and John has his soul claimed by the UNSPEAKABLE, ensuring that the world is doomed.
I don't understand why she would be in there the whole time at all. Like, I understand why he would "hold" her there to figure out what's wrong in order to save her but it doesn't make a whole lot of sense why Gary wouldn't come for her. Like surely they have the means to break into his house but perhaps the crucifixes block them from sensing her.
And if we just accept she's in there the whole time as revealed by the Bad End, then it makes the Good End seem altogether weird as she manages to leave the room to help John at the final moment. I'm not exactly complaining but it does kinda taint the story to have that not be clear. Just like it's not clear how Amy regains her sanity just long enough to allow John to bring her (and him) some peace.
I kinda don't like the fact God is actually around. The problem or even beneficial thing is that God is hands off most time and the fact he intervened actually ruins things by raising questions why he allows this unholy shit to happen at all. Like is he just playing some game to see if the Vatican is up to dealing with the most horrible shit imaginable?
And why do you think it's god , it could be one of his angels
God works in mysterious ways 🙂
It's John's own choice on choosing the hardest path, he literally traversed through hell to right his wrongs. all he needed to do is be like a bad ass like Father Garcia and just shotgun cultists and demonic beings.
Its the entire point of the Faith series that God isn't helping you, you could take the easy route and worship evil shit and sacrifice people to become a demon, or walk the path of hardship and fight said demons.
I kinda feel like she wasn't actually in there physically. That whole room was a manifestation of John's failure, she probably appeared there to torment him further. As for God not showing up, that's actually a very important part of theology. Why doesn't God show up to fix our stuff? The main reason, and it's very very simplified here, is due to free will. We chose to commit the original sin, we're choosing to continue living outside of God's will/plan for us. It can be argued that the saints that ascended to Heaven during their life, or the numerous times God interacted with people in the Bible, returned to God or were part of His plan and thus were aided directly.
It's pretty clear that Amy only regains her sanity because the UNSPEAKABLE chose to frick off and take its ball after Gary failed. As for why God exists - we already have Outer Gods existing in the exact same setting due to DUSK and they're supposedly inferior to pure Demons- more than that, the fact that God can only give John limited protection against the Unholy Trinity is probably a good indicator that His power isn't absolute here.
Isn't god unable to meddle with the human plane of existance? He only appeared while the priest was in turbo hell
I think it's just God's usual habit of "helping those who help themselves" and not appearing for every problem. He only arrives and gives John what he needs to beat Gary
This. The entire game can be seen as an ordeal that God sends John to restore and reinforce his faith. He only sends as much power as John needs. And if worst comes to worst, he can just send His host of angels to contain the threat and lament the loss of John
>It's pretty clear that Amy only regains her sanity because the UNSPEAKABLE chose to frick off
I don't think that's clear at all.
I don't feel like anything really connects Amy from Faith 1 to Faith 3 aside from the fact John fricked up her ability to be a part of the Unholy Trinity. It really just feels like a bit of shitty writing like John's shaky connection to Lisa.
Like Amy is still afflicted by the Second Death, she does frick up Gary, you will get the Bad End if you do not hold up the crucifix fast enough when she tells you to. There's really no reason to believe she gets her free will back, she should be under Gary's control but isn't because she eats him.
That's why a lot of the story feels rather shit. There should have been explicit clues that Amy was actually in that room the whole time and that John actually rescued her from Faith 1 and has been actively trying to reform her, thus giving her some kind of incentive to break out and help him because she develops a sense of sympathy from John not giving up on her despite the fact her face is a fricking portal to hell. I feel like Gary performs the words to the ritual of the Second Death when Amy shows up, which threatens to turn her back into something demonic so she tells John to kill her before that fully takes grip. But that wasn't setup at all.
I assumed that John was doing the same thing to her that Garcia was doing to Michael. I think it's also pretty clear that saving Amy is one of John's big motivations.
The Lisa thing is weird, though. Isn't John supposed to be married to Karen or something?
i'm pretty sure the canon is that john's just thinking all this crap and none of it is real. how the frick do you explain him morphing into a fricking spider? and all the notes doubting John's sanity, it would be lamer to just be a story of unauthorized priests vs Satan than to be some abstraction of John's thoughts as he sits in a psychology ward.
I don't respect your opinion
1 and 3 are real. 2 is a dream sequence.
>it would be lamer to just be a story of unauthorized priests vs Satan than to be some abstraction of John's thoughts as he sits in a psychology ward
You are both wrong and have horrible taste
listen if the former is the case i sat and played 4+ hours of a game about nonsense that gave itself off as being a clever analogue of a man's delusion post trauma. i believed i was unraveling a story, so if the story is only what's given at face value, it is worthless. this could very well be as masterfully convoluted as seacats though.
t. Liberal Arts major
You are what is wrong with the horror genre.
no it's t. i don't want to play nothing that dresses itself up as something.
if it's a shitty trippy game about being artistic and showing lots of nice flashing lights, then cut the bullshit that vaguely links the story to something more sensible - present yourself like Yume Nikki does, with no pretenses.
and if you're gonna make me sit through this shit, then let me fricking walk faster. half the shit in this game takes forever when it shouldn't. it's not a scary game.
It's a callback to movies like The Exorcist, you dumbass.
no it's not, it's trying to present itself as something higher while engaging with something lower.
why try to trick the player with reports of John being a murderer, John going to a clinic, Amy appearing in multiple areas where she can't, constant doubts cast on John's sanity and the reality of any of the events, when it's just "a callback to the Exorcist." if that's all it is, then it is quite the pretentious callback.
i'm not offending the aesthetic you ass, i'm saying the game is something more not something less and if it really is something less, it's a deceptive waste of time. i like that Christianity and priests in this game are not presented as evil and i like that Christianity here is not portrayed as the root of all evil. it's comfy to have priests fighting demons as the cover to the story. but the game is trying to present itself as more under the hood and all i want is for it to be so.
John did go to the psych ward and did have doubts placed on his sanity, but that's more to serve his crisis of faith and his guilt complex over what happened to Allred and his family. Having it just be his delusions would completely ruin the point of the story.
>allred and his family
it's Father Allred who you help and the MARTIN family who is UNRELATED to Father Allred and John.
i considered what you said by the way and went to check if John is ever said to be released and there's note that says he was a year before Chapter 3 starts.
either John went to a clinic after visiting Amy and began to lose faith there, only to recover it over the real course of the game, which is a display of both reality and his own dreams, or it's all just in his head and he's trying to cope in a jail cell or a psychology ward somewhere
I meant Allred and Amy's family, my apologies.
>more under the hood
"John is a delirious schizo who isn't doing anything of value beyond shitting himself to death in a psych ward" isn't 'more under the hood'- it's the stereotypical "it was asll in your head" plot that hacks have been forcing into the horror genre for decades. It being all real (which it blatantly is) is infinitely more compelling than the steaming garbage pile that you want it to be.
it being all in his head means there's a reason and meaning to the madness beyond visual effect. not so if it's all real. although like i said earlier, it could be a mixture of reality and dream.
you can't tell me that lisa showing up at the end seemed natural either. like an apparition.
>why try to trick the player with...
"Word of advice kid. Don't trust anything you see or hear"
no you fricking moron why include that in the game at all. not "oh look there's a note that's why you can't trust anything" i mean why did the author include you fricking subhuman Hispanic Black person bastard. you're the fricking type to defend dogshit because you're too fricking stupid to think. fricking jjk Black person.
Consider suicide.
The Second Death doesn't grant Gary any control over Amy - it only opens a portal to Hell and makes her a worthy Vessel to become the Unholy Trinity and usher the UNSPEAKABLE through. Ultimately, everything Amy does is still at the behest of the UNSPEAKABLE, which is why Gary spends his final moments trying to plead with her despite fricking everything up.
>the unholy trinity is the mother, daughter, and unclean spirit
Reminds me of my sister asking about where the mother and sister were when we prayed as children.
It's an honest question, and the answer being that the distinction between man and woman is done after their original creation / Jesus could've picked women disciples but only picked men so we also stick to men is fairly arbitrary and thus unsatisfactory, at least in the case of the priest question
"Questions like those will send you to Hell. Now shut up Jessica."
So this is all three games?
Yes.
Ye.
Rank each chapter bros.
3>1>2
1 had the best atmosphere
3 is the better game
2 is good, but not the best at either
Do people really prefer 1 over 2?
I love the first one I mean it really blew my mind when it came out but I think 2 trumps it.
The third is the bets though.
1 had the advantage of being the grand entrance, and although the cutscenes got better with time, the first time you see Amy crawling up the bed is outstanding.
Besides that, 2 is good but the level of good varies. Just the candy tunnel beats 1, but the rest isnt on the same level for me
I think 2 was just a bit too trippy for my tastes
That's just my preference. That said, why do YOU prefer 2 over 1?
1 had the most spookiest out of the bunch
Autism. Anon is unable to understand why people like other thing, wow frick that guy he doesn't like thing over thing
2 is great, but being that's somewhat non-canon, or an "interpretation" of the plot's backstory, its the lesser of the three.
What's this? Some short indie game capitalizing on Halloween?
Yes
The thread I am about to post in has not been ordained by the Vatican.
watching The Exorcist and The Exorcist III after this.
I HAVE THE BODY OF A PIG
really hate how vague the game is with what you're supposed to do. especially when that 2hr refund clock is ticking,
Just pirate the game at that point, anon
FAILURE
UNFORGIVABLE
love these games. never played them.
Respect.
Is there an upload of the final boss theme anywhere?
So do the events of the game happen, or is it all a figment of John's mind to cope with inexplicable trauma?
The inexplicable trauma from... what?
It's got bigger scares, but it's more thrill-oriented
I don't think he was hallucinating about all of those demons and murders, anon...
People on Ganker are stupid and really struggle with metaphors.
There are other parts of the story that indicate John is not an actual priest (like the notes in ch. 1), Karen leaving him and Lisa appearing as the sudden love interest that needs to be saved to fulfil his heroic narrative.
I understand metaphors, it's just that I like the game and story better if it was all real. Simple as.
Anon, it's a video game. All of it isn't real.
And a story doesn't have to be tied down to reality to be good. Nothing in Yume Nikki takes place in reality.
Not everything has to be a metaphor, anon. Story is more interesting if it is about a man finding his faith again while fighting a cult.
Anon do you think the police officers and children killed themselves?
I reckon the insane story is more of a red herring, the perspective of how someone that doesn't believe in demons sees John's deteriorating state. Considering you get most hospital notes on the cultist endings, there's a chance Gary's got people at the hospital
Gotta source your newborns somehow
Given he pretty blatantly had people in the abortion clinic, it's pretty easy to assume the hospitals and asylums would likewise be compromised. If not possibly the entire town.
the creator of the game is a devout christian, despite all the fricked shit there still clearly is good with the religious stuff
I like Faith but I'm not paying $13 for an Atari clone trilogy where the first 2 games are actually free elsewhere. Frick right off.
Is the new one scarier?
>breaks your immersion
>getting immersed by pixel shit
May i suggest darkwoods it sounds like you consume huge amounts of soi.
Is that uboa? I will now play your game
Gaster, Uboa and whom?
The last one is Space Funeral, I think.
>he knows undertale shit
>he comes to threads deliberately to stir up trouble
>he knows what undertale is and what is associated with it, even remotely
slow night for you guys eh. no matter how hard you try you can't stop people from enjoying themselves or talking to each other.
i also know ffviiR that doesn't make it a good game
The thing from I'm scared
oh shit, it is! man what a blast from the past.
and yet you won't mention any games you think are good; curious! but when you do mention something, I'll call it bad and you a shill, as is the custom for you tourists trying to fit in
I finally finished the game and holy shit it was great. BY FAR better than the first two across all accounts. Though some might prefer the subdued aspect of the very first Faith, the variety of areas, fights, and secret demons you can find is just fantastic.
It almost makes me wish we had a proper high budget exorcism game that follows the same principles of Faith.
>high budget exorcism game
Call of Cthulhu by Cyanide should be high enough budget. The Satanic horror of Faith is just about as blatantly evil as the Eldritch horror of Cthulhu and you really get the feeling that the evil has saturated every bit of the town.
The thing about these games is that you really actually feel bad for the protagonist and how they have to deal with this shit. It's really the story of the unwilling hero. I wouldn't say Cthulhu was a great game but it really sold that sense of "wow, evil having the upper hand is real fricking shitty"
Does anyone know a good let's play of this game?
I get no joy from playing video games but watching them is fine
Alphabetagamer has extensive longplays with no commentary

IRELAND
I'm gonna be honest, I thought I would enjoy the game since the whole gist around it (focus on religion and demon cults) seems very intriguing and I love exploration games, but I was severly let-down and refunded the game. It was painfuly fricking boring and unfun to play the game itself, the demons being arcadelike bossfights killed it for me. I wish it was a detective style game instead.
I know I should've played the demo, but in my mind playing demos is like spoiling yourself the full game, so I avoid that.
What's the UNSPEAKABLE anyways? Some Lovecraft creature?
The third demon. If i understood correctly they've been trying to summon 3 demons to our plane.
loss was never a Ganker thing , it was a CAD™ thing
The "real" deity of the cult, since Malphas and Aru had already been summoned when you get there and it wasn't the end of the world
The demon God that Gary wants to channel to this plane via the unification of the Unholy Trinity. A big misunderstanding that Father Garcia and John have is that Malphas is the UNSPEAKABLE, but they're separate entities.
Nobody noticed the loss? Really?
Is it not a Ganker thing anymore?
It was mentioned a few times in the thread already
yeah my bad i just used ctrl+f
I wonder if future games set on the FAITH universe will focus on Gary's friends you see in that one picture
So, what is the gameplay in this? I was interested in this game since someone posted some rotoscoped sprites few ears ago.
It's a horror adventure game and combat is sort of like a top-down multidirectional shooter. While looking around for clues and secrets, you may be attacked by demons which must be warded off or exorcised by pointing your cross at them. Since you die in one hit, avoid getting cornered and know whether it's better to run to the next screen or fight back.
Of course this isn't much until you get to bossfights, which are bullet hell lite especially come the 3rd game.
I don't get why Airdorf included the demo of Chapter 2 as an unlockable chapter option, but then calls it a prologue. You can tell it's a rough version of chapter 2, and it overall feels disconnected from the rest.
In my opinion, in would have been better to add it to the extra menu and still have it unlock after beating C2.
When's the fricking soundtrack coming out?
I like how John being slow as frick has an explanation.
explain the explanation pls
Game leg from childhood injury
then why he didn't limped earlier
He's always limping. It's the reason why he's slow as frick as the original anon said
oh
Damn right I did.
worth buying? I have enough for this or Resi 8 dlc in my steam wallet.
yes but pirate it if you don't want to pay for it. Like homie it's your money , it's your responsibility
How much time we have left to discuss this game until someone goes through the credits and datamines every text in the game, looking for lgbt references?
Situation like this completely killed all Vampire Survivors discussion. I am so frustrated of this shithole.
vampire survivors deserved it
no comfort for degenerate scum who want you dead and like touching children
if you can't get over it then fricking leave
context? what happened to Vampire Survivors?
I like that John became the Doomslayer.
That's basically father Garcia.
more like the Robin of the Doomslayer holy shit you guys actually read the notes , lol
Cute Amy

Let me tell you a secret..... GARY DOES NOT LOVE YOU
Gary, give me the strength to overcome this revelation.
Does this game have an evil join Satan ending like Chapter 2?
In ending 3 you give up and allow the UNSPEAKABLE to enter the world. You become the second vessel and doom humanity, though not really willingly. Just by giving up and allowing the Profane Sabbath to occur.
I don't like what the secret ending implies, Can't a haunted house just be a haunted house? Enough with the metaphors and dream theories.
It's 100% real, though?
So what the frick was Gary? A demon? A human birthed from hell itself? A little of both?
Gary is an entity that was pulled from a face-hole. So yes, demon.
A normal human being, just like you and me.
Shut the frick up, Tiffany.
Probably the second one, it doesn't feel like demons can wholly fit through that small ass hole the cultists dig out of people's faces.
A note says that some cultists shoved a bunch of babies into the facehole in the 30s and eventually "totally" normal human baby came out.
He's obviously a demon that came to the world that could blend in with humans and is supposed to speed up the coming of the Antichrist.
A normal human being just like you and me
Gary loves you!
Gary loves you!
Gary DOES NOT LOVE YOU
He was given after a slew of infants were fed to the gaping hell hole. Presumably the babies were used to make Gary.
Probably Astaroth given human (or """human""") form.
What if you stuck your dick inside of a face hole?
It would be extremely devilish
Did anyone else actually jump a few times at this game. Didn't expect it to be as scary
Michael's SUFFERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR got me a bunch of times
Since the Cross somehow fricks up Horrors even more easily than guns do, is Nyarlathotep just weak or something?
Gary calls Nyarlathotep a gay basically, and the "pet" that he gets from the DUSK cult leader dies way faster from the cross than most other monsters in the game, so I guess yeah eldritch gods are lower in power than actual demons.
That's dumb.
Gary is a wienery piece of shit, to be fair
Remember that demons are essentially fallen angels, created by the Almighty himself. Eldritch horrors would be creatures from the primordial chaos, lower in hierarchy than angels, even the fallen ones. Fallen angels are still made from the same substance as regular substance, even if they're weakened by pain and sin
Or at least that was the case in Paradise Lost. I really need to read up what's the Catholic Church stance on the topic
I also feel the need to point out that demons in Faith are clearly more eldritch than the Lovecraftian shit (At least from DUSK) - Gary himself even states that the UNSPEAKABLE is supposedly the "source" of supernatural phenomena in his letter to Jakob. Hell, one of the early trailers for Chapter 2 IIRC outright used a quote from the Dunwich Horror to describe it.
dusk and faith connected?
Yeah, Gary has a picture taken of him, some guy presumably from gloomwood and Jakob from DUSK. It'd just be a reference if it didn't fit that well in both of the games' universes.
DUSK as in the quake clone?
Is there any other game named DUSK?
RUST?
there's also the DUSK cult's logo in the candy tunnel section of chapter 2 (even though it's a dream, probably) and as mentioned previously the weird, out-of-place demon hanging out by Gary's house.
Yeah the antagonist from Dusk loaned Gary a Horror. I like how they are cordial in the letter and still talk shit about how great they are over the others.
Not sure who the green mask guy is.
https://dusk.fandom.com/wiki/Horror
Very neat.
Urban horror stories involving elevators fricked me up back in 2003 and now it's doing it to me again.
I have no idea what this game is about or what is going on in this thread but I'm taking it as a sign to buy the damn game
Saw a short stream of it yesterday and while I didn't know what was going on I thought it looked pretty cool, the Steam trailer does a good job on selling it too
also forgot to add if someone has the track that plays in the Steam trailer and could put a name to it that'd be great
Go with God, anon
Alright, time to dive back in. Any pro-tips how to handle the funny screaming skeletons in Chapter 2's graveyards? Having trouble tracking them up to when they run up and kill my holy ass.
Are there jumpscares in this?
Maybe
These games are absolutely KINO. I really wanna see a spinoff after tye events of chapter 3
More games where you're a priest taking the good fight to demons in a more literal sense would be fantastic.
There's Textorcist, but I dropped it when you need to use demonic powers to fight the demons
>Co-op doomclone featuring Father Garcia and John
fund it
>make scary game
>ruin it with trial and error gameplay
Well I guess it would be nice

Did you do the fog maze already? Did you go to the mirror inside of the SAVE tomb?
are we faith healing yet?
MORT-Y I'M PREACHER RICK!!
Does the third game explain what her problem was?
She was a demon worshipper.... and I think chapter three mentions she's Gary's mom? iirc a not mentions she's the one that performed the second death ritual and got a baby sent back
She's one of the original satanists who infiltrated the church as a nun. She was presumably responsible for disappearing many church parishioners and orphans, likely sacrificing them to the UNSPEAKABLE.
At one point, she was given the "second death" and became a portal to hell, which presumably let her fake her death.
The cult sacrificed many infants to hell through her and received a human-looking demon baby back that would become Gary, making her Gary's 'mother'.
Miriam later returned to the church to finish off the last few orphans, and was locked there when the church's priest discovered she was alive and went to confront her.
Her corpse also shows up during the final fight, right? The thing that fuses with Gary and the demon (malphas?)
I believe so
That final boss theme is more kino than it had any right to be
M-O-R-T-I-S
>also its pretty great horror game
MORTIS?
More like MORE-breasts amirite fellas?
Is there a way to actually get to the 7th floor?
Yes. You need to play the elevator game.
There is no 7th floor
There is a 7th floor.
CONGRATULATION!
I just beat the first chapter because of this thread, what a fricking trash game, is this some sort of meme game? There's nothing to it except walking around and pointing your cross at demons
I refuse to believe there's actual morons out there enjoying this, you motherfrickers have mental problems lmao, frick you and your shill thread homosexuals
Here's the attention you crave
READ homie READ
some things never change, thanks for remining me why i still come to this place.

The final fight was the best fricking ending to the series and if you don't think that was the raddest shit ever you can get the frick out.

That's a quote from the film Antichrist.
I think he's talking about the one where the cultists stab you
Oh, I just started Chapter 2.
But definitely watch Antichrist, it's kino.
>that handjob scene
The publisher seems to like the retro feel of the games, so I doubt they would do anything like that any time soon except for a joke
Man, the publisher is putting out some real bangers
>Faith
>DUSK
>Ultrakill
>Gloomwood
yeah new blood is like another devolver digital since they haven't put out a good game in a long time.
i bite my tongue devolver published Inscryption and Carrion and Card Shark.
This is one of those games that only works with this style of graphics... hope they don't try to make a "remastered" shit.
Give it like 4-5 years, someone is going to try and make a movie out of it.
A Faith movie would just be an Exorcist spinoff.
Looks cringe and pretentious
Perfect fit for a moron like you then.
I don't feel the need to play artsy fartsy shit like this to feel above anyone like you.
>I don't feel the need to play artsy fartsy shit like this to feel above anyone like you.
>comes in a thread to shit on a game only to act like he doesn't wan't attention.
kek.
It's a thread where we can anonymously post our thoughts. Don't see how I was begging for attention, just speaking my mind.
CORRUPTION THOU ART MY FATHER
>barge into a thread about a game you know nothing about
>make a moronic statement and claim to be better than everyone
Why is Ganker like this?
Lack of attention given to them when they were children and lack of neurons mostly, especially since these are hours when americans come here.
>proves that guy's point
certified american moment indeed.
Unless someone gifts me a copy on Steam, I won't play it for a while. I'll be waiting for a 75% off sale.
> 10 bucks is somehow a lot for the 3 chapters
The dev was pretty active, releasing smaller games during the development of this. What's the next big proyect gonna be like, you think?
A FAITH spinoff hopefully.
I think he'll take a break from making a new FAITH game, so probably some small gamejam games for now that may or may not eventually tie into the FAITH universe.
>no idea about the game
>buy it
>enter the house
>note says some girl was tied up in the basement but also she was in the back of the attick on a chair
Mild concern. I can only hope my faith in the lord and this crucifix denies all demons
The secret Gary fight is some rage inducing bullshit
Just learn to read his pounce when he momentarily stops, and avoid being on Malphas' firing arcs.
Its the pentagrams boxing me in when I'm trying to dodge both. Especially when they appear right in front of me mid-dodge. Is there some sort of pattern to their appearance?
Pentaagrams are mostly random, but they tend to crowd the sides of the room where you need to go to dodge Gary's pursuit or try to damage Malphas.
>get elevator friend note
>figure out to fight him on those floors in that order
>get second note
>assume I have to do it again with the new floors
>it doesn't work
What now?
the numbers are the sequence you need to take ride the elevator. ride the elevator in this sequence: 1-4-2-6-1-10-5-1. This will take you to the hidden floor, then the 7th floor
sorry...1-4-2-6-2-10-5-1...i typo'd the above
Thanks
Can confirm in Chapter 3 that there is a hidden ending if you just get in your car and drive home when you arrive on all three days.
>No my problem, just gonna go home
>red light green light
>move forward
>monster just attacks me without saying red light
cool game
The demon speaks after moving, so you have to stop before it's actually red light
The second best ending, yeah
It doesn't speak until you start moving, so you need to stop beforehand.
>mfw "Father Ward, Father Ward, everything is going to be alright."
Damn it, he warned me from the start not to believe what I may see or hear.
This was a fun thread.
Vaya con Dios, anon.
Take care, anon
Remember to be not afraid, anon.
Is it just me or does the cop sound vaguely southern?
Which is strange since the game takes place in Connecticut
>autosave right before a minute long dialogue bit
>its another 'die 20 times in a row until you know what to do' segment
jesus the hype from the other priest showing up was evaporated just like that
Final boss of 2?
no chapter 3, after the rAiN oF sPiDeRs fight
Bros, never played this series. Should I buy the Trinity?
the first 2 games are free, so you can try them out to see how the gameplay is like before you buy the 3rd game, which is much longer than both previous games
Ah, cool, cool. Thanks!
wtf i thought the secret ending of 1 and the entirety of 2 meant john was just crazy suddenly demons are real????
>Suddenly
>suddenly
Did you forget about Michael?
hee hee
Demons are real, but so are the psych ward notes which detail what happened after the failed exorcism.
>John and Father Allred fail to exorcise Amy who kills Allred and Amy's parents
>John suffers a crisis of faith when confronting Amy alone that he takes the Devil's deal to escape with his life in exchange for having his fate tied to Amy
>John and Amy are rescued by law enforcement and sent to the psych ward
>John eventually leaves the psych ward but possibly returns to kidnap Amy and lock her up in his room
>events of chapter 2 and 3 happen
So everything about John returning to the house to confront Amy was just a schizo episode?
Anyone have a webm of Amy looking up from the chair after Father Allred demands the demon to respawn?
I HAVE THE BODY OF A PIG
I really liked Chapters 1 and 2, but dear god does Chapter 3 become goofy as frick.
I remember Airdorf posting a clip of a lady visiting the elevator, does that happen in some secret thing or was it a cut content idea.
it happens randomly i think. someone posted about it happening to him and complained about dying to it on the steam forums.
happens when you go for secret boss in that building.
no i did the secret boss and it didn't happen, unless i was too close to the door and the scene played instantly or something.
YOU KNOW NOTHING, PENDEJO
I wonder why a kid with a surname of Davies is speaking spanish slurs at me
>tfw time to hunt some demons
Well Lads, This is my second ever thread that didn't get archived before 50 posts. Thanks all.

you're gonna be big, kid. don't ever stop making actual vidya threads
And I was here since yesterday
Great job hijo
CONGRATULATION
I hope we can have another thread on Halloween
You're a good servant of God, OP
Vaya con Dios, M'ijo
Thank you for the thread, OP. Go with God, hijo.
>tfw just finding out this has a lot to do with Dusk's plot
now I have to buy the game.
Explain
Dusk's plot is already pretty barebones as it is, so if it offers even a little bit of insight into Jakob, I'll buy the whole trilogy.
Not a lot, just a cameo
>tfw even Outer Gods kneel to the UNSPEAKABLE
How the frick did Gary lose
