This is one of the things that bothered me a lot with NV, the casino / city and quests/characters. I just cannot picture a postapocalyptic casino, ever, it's ridiculous. NV threads on the absurd.
>first two games set up the return of civilisation from the brink of extinction over a period of 100 years >third game by Black Isle was going to continue upon that, would've seen the return of full nations competing for the southwest of the US >Bethesda says 'lol no it's apocolypse again but there's 50S MUSIC AND WACKY WEAPONS AREN'T YOU ENTERTAINED :)' >gaylord somehow thinks that is a worthy continuation to the series

WHY BETHESDA FOR THE RESURRECTION OF FALLOUT USED HIS ORIGINAL THEMES INSTEAD OF SOME POLITICAL SHIT THAT COULD WILL NEVER EXIST LIKE ROMANS AND DEMOCRACY LMAO
if you think Caesar's Legion are literal Romans you're moronic
Edward Sallow uses their imagery as his inspiration, but they're nothing like actual Rome at all, just a sad sack of tribals convinced they're something greater
that theme runs literally all through New Vegas. People rehashing old ideas and concepts from backwards in history and ultimately failing instead of looking towards the future and creating something new with its own risks, but far greater successes.
To be fair though, the point of the hoover dam conflict (And most quest lines that are anti NCR) is that the NCR has spread out way too quickly, their supply lines are thin and is prone to corruption. The legion points this out, House points this out, hell most of the NCR camps points this out. The NCR is stuck between their expansion into the Mojave and governing the current areas that they have under their "control".
40 YEARS AFTER FALLOUT 2 NCR HAVE 1 MILLION PEOPLE
RADIATIONS DIDN'T COUND ANYMORE
AND ARCHITECTURE RETURB TO 1800 WESTERN SHIT
First of all you didn't contradict any of my points at all. Junktown, Shady Sands and Necropolis alone show that society is reforming and all it takes is the spark to unite more people under singular banners rather than raiding groups.
Second of all, what the frick is "traduction"?
The legion can just kill their supply line and all of them would die of starving
The legion can just siege them Dam and won
NOTHING for some reason the legion who won every single field battle can't wu without the help some dude >mr house
Perfect show mr house give free fopd tp bcr homosexuals and send securitrons to help them
NOTHING >Everyone is equal
Fan fuct communism do not work between Africans
This. Fallout 1 was already showing society is reforming itself, Fallout 2 was showing new forms of governance and political ideologies forming. I will never forget the profoundness of Marcus' entire story about a BOS paladin and a Super Mutant after a long battle just put down their arms and start talking. That to me is the spirit of fallout, a deconstruction of society and how radical points of history has changed how society functions. The fall of the Roman empire gave way to the "dark ages" but then society was rebirthed again during the Renaissance. The Fallout games from the very start made it clear it isn't too interested in the whole "How humans survived after the bombs" but moreso "What humans do after they pick up the pieces?" This is also the theory behind Caesar's legion, where the collapses of society forms a new, possibly better, combination of the two ideologies. I want to discuss more but we know that poojeet hates that shit.
New Vegas feels like a fan game to me. Convoluted does not equal good. The dialogue and plot, and the intersection of those elements with gameplay, are a disaster. Every character sounds like a grad student who's just read nietzsche trying to impress his parents on Christmas break. None of them are particularly unique or memorable.
As the player character, you can't ROLE PLAY that you are a part of the fallout universe. You are thrown into this strange "old world courier" character's world and have to play as him. You are asked to become and sympathize with a character that you have never heard of and isn't particularly compelling. You aren't really granted any freedom in the development of the character... in a choice based role playing game.
Goodsprings is an awful, horribly paced tutorial. The game barely functions on a technical level.
The final boss is Lanius, a character that doesn't make any sense? Who is he? What relationship does he have with the player? It isn't explained well enough. You only really see him at the end, and then you kill him.
Compare towns in 1 to towns in 2. In one, it's a dynamic level full of choices, espionage, and events unique to each playthrough. In 2, its re-used assets but the rooms are empty and theres a boss fight.
I can understand why, to a 14-20 year old contrarian, 2 would be considered superior. But it just isn't. Sometimes simple is good. Fallout 3 is a fun, clever take on a fallout adventure that puts the player in the drivers seat. New Vegas is a C+ first year philosophy essay written the night before it was due.
not only that, the fnv quest has two outcomes, while the fallout 3 quest all leads to the same exact ending. even if you count the one optional reward, all the options provided lead to the same outcome, which is a big problem in fallout games since 3.
>picks one of the lengthier quests in FO3 >it's still a glorified fetch kill etc. quest >different options are mostly just 'bro how quick do you want to get through this quest?'
absolute state of contrarians
>dialogue to confidently convince a random merchant in a shop that you're not working for casinos attempting to sniff out his contraband gear
vs. >dialogue with one of the most important characters to the early game where your superior deductive skills lead to you repeating his own phrase back to him to please him; this is somehow considering an indicator of high intelligence
But why does it need to be a destiny? Fawkes goes in, does shit, purifier is now in BOS control, I still live and continue on my Dad's legacy by keeping the purifier safe under the eyes of my companions and my allies in the BOS.
Win win.

New update
Now Fallout 3 works on windows 10 so everyone is buying it
It always did work on Windows 10 you just had to install Games for Windows Live
>recompile the game so none of the mods work anymore
bravo bethesda
not like it matters since anyone who wanted to play FO3 just played it inside NV so it had no mods in the first place
To endure reddit vegas you need 1000 mods
For fallout 3 you need 0
You can say that 2+2=5 a million times it will still be false
thanks but i'm still enjoying the entire series. except 76.
