this game's world is unfortunately so, so barren. explore around and you realize just how much this game's popularity comes entirely from the writing of main factions and NOTHING else. well i guess the companions are cool too. like veronica.

>writing of main factions
>le good guys, le bad guys, le funny robot guys
>all three of them have exactly the same quests
>only one of them is actually finished
most play throughs I don't even finish the game unless it's starting to piss me off
NCR is the only one with an interesting questline. Too bad it's the gayest faction ever made.
my favorite follower. I turned her from a raging dyke into my slave. I made her kill her lesbian lover
yeah its kinda nuts how highly rated the game is in terms of writing and when you step back and realize its middle school novel tier. Just goes to show how poorly made most games are
I think it's more about fun than story. look at pretty much any game. endings were never a focal point.
i wasn't talking about the main quest/ending, more so the world building
no matter what I can't stay away from the boomers. favorite faction
I like them but their quest is too damn long and tedious
now I'm bias, but the only game I can remember that actually had a good ending was suikiden 2.
>like veronica
No
do you have a problem with women with names starting with "V"?
No but I have a problem with her annoying as frick voice.
Like fingernails on the chalkboard.
just punch her in the face
for me, it's cass
thing is Cass is already cool. you can't really mess with there that much.

Ever play fallout 1/2?
>this game's popularity comes entirely from the writing of main factions and NOTHING else.
You didn’t know this? Must have never played fallout 1/2.
sir we are talking about fallout new begas
>games popularity came from the writing
came from reddit spamming, all factions are dumb and all character are homosexuals
PLAY A REAL GAME
Morale for Obsidian:
>before the nukes
50s values
>after the nukes
stone age values
>200 years after the nukes
2010 California values
I do it for he sir
posts implying nv is a bad game would actually be believable if they didn't go too far and suggest 3 isn't complete homosexualry.
I prefer 3 only because it makes me nostalgic and when I play it I can almost smell the shitty pine candles my mom bought from target while I binged it in the living room 12 hours a day.
Good morning sirs
>games barren
>it's set in a desert
bravo ebin
Point lost. Buy the explorer perk and go to marked locations and you still won't find much exciting. Obviously in the context of a videogame open world that's what is meant by "barren" not the distances between things. Though the map could stand to be 50% smaller easily.
>location
there is nothing to explore in new vegas
everything is railroaded and the few locations left are just skeleton in the desert with Nuka Cola
Yep
It's due to the limited development time. It's a miracle that the game is as good and loved as it is, especially given the quality of Obsidian games before and since, but the characters, factions, and atmosphere really do work together to make it great. I don't even like desert enviroments and New Vegas (the city) is a fricking joke scalewise, but it doesn't end up mattering. Being honest NV filtered me hard the first time I played it, after over a thousand hours fricking around in DC, and it took me a year to pick it back up and give it a fair shake.
The only companion I've ever traveled with outside of a requirement is Rex.
