Fallouts tech is so fricking stupid. How can I take this series seriously.

>Robots
>Replicants from Total Recall
>Lazer and plasma weapons
>Power Armor
>AI
>Invisibility devices
>automated turrets

>they somehow achieved all this with computers never getting past 1960s levels of sophistication
>also planes are stuck in 50s cold war levels

And then you show me this stupid institute shit making artifical humans

?si=aLwMMRVy4KR2QYw2

like they can pull that tech out of their ass using pic related.
God I hate Fallout 4.

    >they somehow achieved all this with computers never getting past 1960s levels of sophistication
I dont think its explicitly that, the lore is something like the microchip wasn't invnted in 1946 so everything runs on vaccum tubes or some other magic

transistors weren't invented thus everything became how people in the 50s saw the future

people managed to walk on moon with 60s computer tech and yet it seems impossible to replicate that with 1000 times the technology.
so i don't think it's too far fetched

Nobody wanting to spend the money =/ lost capability
Also getting to the moon is more rocketry, physics and mathematics and not computer software. They used abacuses

there's billions being spend on that.
give it 50 years and we have all that fallout stuff instead of crude versions of it, but still the 60s tech is what was enough to walk on moon

Getting to the moon is nothing but a money game. Put enough dollars into it and you can make the big rocket. The last 50 years have been trying to make the smallest, cheapest possible rockets (on the order of 100 million dollars) because nobody wants to spend 5 billion dollars making the stupid huge frick rocket (Saturn V).

The only annoying bits are how varied the robots are in whether they are sapient or not and how there's all sorts of future tech like teleportation around which would normally trivialize the challenges of living in a wasteland, except that one instance is in the Big Empty which is a containment zone and the other instance is in a poorly-written faction that only uses teleportation to send their synths in and out.

Transistors were never invented. Everything went to develop nuclear energy instead. That's why computers are still bachelite boxes while reactors are the size of a beer can.

      >You're not supposed to take it seriously. It's a comedy.
Here we have a vivid example of a specimen of the generation of gamers who grew up playing "Fallout" 3 and "Fallout" 4 (which are not Fallout games) and truly believe that Fallout is about comedy. Because the actual braindead, low IQ idiots at bethesda can only make "comedy" stories about a post-apocalyptic setting.
Sure, Fallout 2 had its share of comedy. But it wasn't a comedy game. And now the morons like the one I quoted think that LE FALLOUT IS LE COMEDY HAHA

Trans zoomers discovered fiction? Fallout goes for a certain aesthetic of what people in the 50's thought the future technology would be. This like playing Alien Isolation and complaining that the monitors are all CRTs and you collect cassettes. Are you stupid or something?
What you should be complaining about is the robots that look perfectly human in Fallout are stupid. It doesn't fit the theme, it doesn't fit the aesthetic. Regular robots don't look anything like humans and are very primitive with extremely basic AIs and they can't even mimic human voices, but you're also supposed to believe that people with this bulky old tech of tubes and gears are making sophisticated perfect human robots.

To be faaaaaaaiirrrr the Institute was made up of geniuses who did nothing but science for 200 years. It makes sense for them to be way ahead of everyone else including pre-war tech. How they used that tech, however, was fricking moronic.

I still dont understand what the institute's plan was.

      >what was the plan?
To replace all of humanity with synths and create a perfect humanity that never age, get fat, grow sick or die. To create a 'research/science' utopia void of emotion and conflict.

        Anonymous

But synths have no souls and do not think for themselfs.
Synth "humanity" would stagnate, or was the plan to have humans rule as kings over the synth population?

        Anonymous

        >To replace all of humanity with synths
        Why don't they replace themselves?
They only use synths as guards in their lab.

Haha, another plot hole, it seems like if they really insist on replacing humanity with synths, they're still pretty hypocritical because they absolutely don't want to be replaced themselves, haha.
