It was so funny having everybody wonder what this girl was from and then gradually realize it was just an indie depression platformer, the artist baited us so hard by giving her a katana and those flying things
It's just your generic mobfaced girl which drives people wild for some reason (not that I'm complaining, I love mob face). I doubt that would actually translate into actual sales.
Someone should really commission the bottom artist for a game. There's clearly demand for it seeing how many people looked up the character.
It's the most generic design ever and it proves that all you need to make a female character design appealing to a ton of people is to give her big eyes with feminine eyelashes and a bob cut.
The generic anime style is the most popular artstyle on Earth and it's mostly because the women are always drawn in a cutesy, feminine way.
>all you need to make a female character design appealing to a ton of people is to actually make her look feminine
And yet Gris failed at this. The art of the protag makes it look like some Victorian era drag queen.
it's because she looks nothing like gris
seriously, the only similarity is that they're both girls
i liked gris and i like this guy's drawing, but let's not pretend you could look at the drawing itself and realize it was supposed to be gris
The full scene isn't any better lmao, she looks ridiculous in every frame showing her face. At least the game is courteous enough to keep her as a tiny 10px high stick figure so you don't have to stare at this ugly art style.
If Miyamoto drew a picture of Samus Aran, it would be fan art. He has never officially developed any of her games. He simply works at the same publisher company
It's called promotional art. Only things drawn by people not hired by the owner of the IP and without permission or license, or by people who are hired but did not draw it for purpose of official (licensed) promotion or a official project are fanart.
>People bought that terrible game because of the marketing art in some promotion years later
I hope Devolver paid the artist well instead of sinking it into their awful E3 shows and not doing pre-pre show
The gris AI images used stable diffusion. Dall-E is locked down so you can't teach it obscure characters with extra models and there wasn't anywhere near enough art of her for the main model to learn her. But her design is fairly simple so you might be able to brute force it.

>when a cute and simple anime girl still gets more interest than some tumblr-esque "art" with weird proportions
That should tell you something. For me it's that Gris is hard to look at.
It was so funny having everybody wonder what this girl was from and then gradually realize it was just an indie depression platformer, the artist baited us so hard by giving her a katana and those flying things
um gris isn't about depression it's about helping unstable mental health okay???
What's the difference?
depressed girl cuts her wrists, bipolar girl cuts yours

Yeah but it make pp hard! no say bad thing 'bout! ook ook ook
I like it though
>attractive features are attractive and people use them to make attractive characters and this makes me angry
ok
yes, what is the issue?
it's because she looks nothing like gris
seriously, the only similarity is that they're both girls
i liked gris and i like this guy's drawing, but let's not pretend you could look at the drawing itself and realize it was supposed to be gris
I have an hard time believing top is official art.
its from the game itself even
Scary...
It still look uncanny as fuck.
>that one five
it's an animation smear frame, she's being pulled under water or something iirc
The full scene isn't any better lmao, she looks ridiculous in every frame showing her face. At least the game is courteous enough to keep her as a tiny 10px high stick figure so you don't have to stare at this ugly art style.
>fan made content is VASTLY superior to the official product.
o.p's game and signalis
also princess bowser
was it ever confirmed that this steam girl is indeed the gris protagonist?
yes, by the artist
yup, and you can imagine everyone's disappointment when they found out
>everyone
You mean a small group of autists in Ganker?
steam girl?
>fanart
anon that is official art from another developer under the same publisher.
>art not by the official developer
fan art
you are both very stupid.
If Miyamoto drew a picture of Samus Aran, it would be fan art. He has never officially developed any of her games. He simply works at the same publisher company
if miyamoto was paid by to draw a picture of samus aran for the header of a promotional website then it would not be fanart you blithering fool.
it would still be fan art.
>he thinks selling fan art makes it official art
patron would like to say hello
being paid by the publisher to illustrate their website is not equivilant to patreon.
by your logic the illustrations in a game's own manual are fanart.
the fucking concept artist's illustrations in development are fanart by your logic.
fan art bucko, sorry you're getting angry
i am mad, and you are retarded.
tomorrow i will be calm, but you will still be retarded.
sounds like an autism problem, maybe you should get looked at bud
Anon, you got baited hard. You needed to stop the chain of replies after the first attempt.

Fan art.
These both look like shit for different reasons.
I love fish girl.
That's the case with touhou
Even if I think the zun style is charming it's on the fans to draw the characters well
>People bought that terrible game because of the marketing art in some promotion years later
I hope Devolver paid the artist well instead of sinking it into their awful E3 shows and not doing pre-pre show
I was disappointed when I found what this character was really from, and what she actually looked like.
Imagine trying to find out her game thinking she's from a fun platformer or rpg and you find out it's another quirky depression indie game
is she a ghost or something? Why does she have salon hair with makeup and a weird body wearing a drape?
god i have so many images of this bitch
those are all using the old AI dall-e shit. no one binged her?
The gris AI images used stable diffusion. Dall-E is locked down so you can't teach it obscure characters with extra models and there wasn't anywhere near enough art of her for the main model to learn her. But her design is fairly simple so you might be able to brute force it.
post them
>fanart is so off model you can't tell who the character is
>faking this hard for fake drama
gamers are fucking retarded
kek I got baited too and 180 degree then walked away when I saw this shit as the steam page banner
Bowsette
Imagine going all artsy-fartsy on your indie game's aesthetic only to get mogged by a generic looking anime girl
That just means more depression for the next game, gris for the mill
Someone should really commission the bottom artist for a game. There's clearly demand for it seeing how many people looked up the character.
he's the artist for cult of the lamb
It's just your generic mobfaced girl which drives people wild for some reason (not that I'm complaining, I love mob face). I doubt that would actually translate into actual sales.
She won
>when a cute and simple anime girl still gets more interest than some tumblr-esque "art" with weird proportions
That should tell you something. For me it's that Gris is hard to look at.
Of course. Guys want one thing and it's to come home to a cute, smiling, supportive face after a hard day's work.
I got you senpai
the doujins are GOAT
>armpits
phew
I love this artist
What's the name of the artist?
CUTE
top is definitely a case of a dude hiring his girlfriend to do the art, I can tell
I remember there being some sort of controversy when Gris came out, what was that all about?
>Game has cute girl
>It's a quirky depressing indie game
>But it's GOOD
how long was she a meme for? a few weeks? that smug reddit cat is still being shitposted months later
What if Journey was 2D, in muted cold colors, and shit.
Gris girl will get her own game someday
>this is what people have been shilling
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Tifa is the absolute epitome of this
Such a shit game. Art was nice but that was literally the ONLY thing good about the game
Many such cases
is the right concept art
right is snoot game
youre retarded
you got me
thanks, just read about it, figure I'll give it a shot
technically yes, just for the Ganker-made fangame (that came out two years ahead of GVH)
OPEN YOUR MOUTH!!!
it's just an anime face with blue hair in a red dress
so why is she so perfect
Briefcase and Pilot's Cap
The promotion and fan art for Demon Turf is much better than the in game art style.
