>market Criterion dungeons for midcore players >actually they're for week one savage raiders
I'm on the verge of quitting for good. Everything I enjoyed about the game keeps getting shittier and Yoshida can't keep getting away with his lies. Why the FRICK is the sync ilvl 635 for Criterion? Who the frick thought this was a good idea?
It's not moronicly high when in 6 months crafted gear will be higher than it. It's meant to last you fricking moron. It also can be cleared at minimum ilevel, just like every other piece of content that is released. You are complaining about nothing, for content you're never even going to go into anyway you fricking homosexual. >it has to be for people who have time to raid
What's your proposal for challenging content then you fricking queer? You're perfectly capable of party finding savage and progging for a bit then leaving. Just because you can't oneshot it doesn't mean its too difficult.
Prove you all aren't cultists: Post one criticism of this game.
>Still no extra chat tabs despite me asking for it since ARR. >Still no blue mage updates >No actual interactivity with other players on island sanctuary >cash shop >Haven't thrown in the towel on class locked gear for anything that isnt job AF
Good enough?
You don't quite get it. With 635 you are a detriment if you aren't BiS. It's not about difficulty or progging or any factor of actually playing the game, it's the fact there's a gear expectancy. >well just wait for new crafted in 6 months
Which completely defeats the purpose of this new content being made for people who don't raid regularly but want something beyond mount farming extremes and DD runs. It shouldn't be hard to take what they did for BA+DRS and size it down to 4-man, but at the last minute some moron decided Ultimates weren't enough for week one raiders so they also get special catering in content not specifically designed for them. Waiting isn't going to do anything for the next two Criterion in 6.45 and 6.55 either. Until the sync is dropped to 610, if you don't clear raids week one this new content is NOT made for you. End of story.
>you are a detriment >noOOOOOO I NEED TO OPTIMIZE IM OPTIMIZIIIIIIIING
Get over yourself. It's clearable with min ilevel. Even basic dungeons have a minimum item level requirement. Make some fricking friends. They got ONE (1) difficult mode for themselves.
Variant/Criterion dungeons introduced scalable 1-4 player content. Harder 4 man group content, and even harder 4 man group content for raiders. Everyone got something. Stop fricking b***hing you actual waste of oxygen.

I'm on the verge of quitting for good. Everything I enjoyed about the game keeps getting shittier and Yoshida can't keep getting away with his lies. Why the FRICK is the sync ilvl 635 for Criterion? Who the frick thought this was a good idea?
the real issue is that the rewards are fricking nothing
>it's hard so it has to be for people who have time to raid
That's my issue. The difficulty isn't the problem, it's the moronicly high ilvl sync.
Regular criterion can 100% be cleared by a group of players in 610 crafted gear. DPS checks are very lenient. When i did it with pug on day two of us weren't bis. I do also think it should be possible to do savage version in ~610+ gear but that would require some extra sweat and optimizations given 24 min time limit.
I just don't think the fights are any fun, also it is fricking annoying to have to clear the trash each time you reload the instance and have to get through previous bosses. The "You can raise only once" thing also seems to be pretty dumb? Honestly, I imagined something entirely different when they said harder dungeon content. As it stands I did it once and feel 0 need to do it again. Even if it gave any meaningful loot, the fights were just shit.
>single pull >we get wiped in literally 1 second >we get wiped at the hamster at 90% because the game tells us nothing about what to do in any way (stacking on yellow brooms?)
I'll just stick with the single player version. I have no idea what the frick they were thinking with this shit.
I did.
At 90% we get a stack marker and he does an ice cross attack at us killing us instantly. Something about me standing first as a tank in front of everyone and the guy with the marker last? I can't believe people unironically play this if this is what savage/extremes is like. There's no fun in this.
So, did you just stand there after he hit you for the stack and not avoid the ice? I dunno how long you've been playing but generally with any ice moves you have to be in motion when they make contact or you'll be frozen.
He stuns us and we can't avoid the ice cross attack.

Jump in place when he's hitting with the stack so you don't get frozen. Ice moves that hit the player usually freeze you in place if you're not in motion, think WoL trial from ShB

The only gripe is that those rewards are fricking dogshit.

I'm genuinely curious, what content do you consider medium difficulty?
Midcore isn't casual!!!! Criterion is disappointing but I think it's about right on the difficulty. Although I'd change savage to have one raise per character and regular to not have a raise restriction but also no lost actions.
People ask for things with certain specifications. People wanted more than just "midcore content." Theres a lot of implications to unpack about what the content should be and offer. Just throwing another dungeon in the game but tuning it up isnt what people wanted.
The issues I read about it is that the content is fine, but the rewards aren't that great. The content is what people were looking for, but were disappointed for other reasons.

In what world does it make sense to create harder content without better rewards? It just results in the content dying out immediately, at best when the players get their shiny one time achievement or mount. Which they also fricked up by letting the mount be tradeable.

Uhh, no, it's a pretty common trope to have only an achievement or cosmetic award for the hardest content, because it's only meant for a small demographic to actually do. Plenty of games don't reward you for hard content at all, like if I go to the arcade and beat Contra I don't get rewarded with shit.

Yeah, they're much easier right now, on launch they were harder
Criterion is not for week one raiders at all. It's far easier than clearing the entire tier. It's a very good entry point ti high end content.
Criterion Savage IS for week one raiders, and was advertised as such. And it actually fails on that front due to not having new mechanics and bosses vs normal criterion.
>The secret boss doesn't have a hard version
Wasted opportunity to make him a Savage exclusive boss or something.
It would be a real pain to reach him but it would be funny.
Once again, "Midcore" players show that they don't actually want difficult content, they're just mad that they don't get the shiny rewards from savages and ultimates. The criterion dungeon is on par with EX content and the savage version is barely harder than EXs in 620 gear
endwalker was supposed to be two separate expansions yoshi said years ago the moon was supposed to be 7.0. Garlemald should have been its own whole expansion.
I'd love to see where the timeline diverged from Moon/Garlemald into Endwalker. To me it feels like the palace scene with Zenos and Varis. They could've hinted at Dynamis with Varis taking on Zenos.
EW was trash and exposed Ishikawa as a fujohack
I wouldn't really call her a hack. Probably didn't have as much time as Shadowbringers. She was able tp create a nice story for Elidibus when 5.3 came around.
>I'd love to see where the timeline diverged from Moon/Garlemald into Endwalker
It must have been some time around the release of ShB to before 5.1. They probably got scared to do a garlemald expansion because of how bad SB story reception was compared to ShB.
I don't think Stormblood was bad as much as it wasn't grand like Heavensward. HW had some really good lore involving the dragons, Allagans and the entirety of Ishgard. SB had some neat concepts like "where does my loyalty lie, to kin or country?" and could've explored more about the idea of the conquered recieving better treatment from Garlemald. Its a very down to earth expansion and I can appreciate that.

It's hard to feel invested when the culmination of a decade old story is just another trope of "dude despair" represented by a character introduced at the eleventh hour surrounded by pretentious moralism that the writers spent several cutscenes trying to shove it down your throat even though they're none the wiser about it
The only good thing about it was Zenos asking you why the frick you're still listening to all that garbage

>Too few character customization options at times (I want muscle tone sliders for all races. I mean except lalafell since that would admittedly be creepy) >Way too fricking much of eorzea was left unexplored >Don't agree with the direction of some classes/jobs (Mostly archer to bard. Would have loved a Hunter job) >We never got a duelist pistoleer class/job.
Regular difficulty is too easy and classes generally have become too streamlined, particularly healers where you spend most of your time with a simple DPS rotation and as long as your group is halfway competent and dance battle correctly they'll avoid most damage.
>rapes the lore established before it >power of friendship garbage up to eleven >final boss so moronic and pointless they had to put a fight with zenos immediately after it >garlemald relegated to a five-minute tour, rest of expansion is reddit-tier trash with furbait rabbits
I was hype as frick with the EW Benchmark showing that massive battle in Garlemald city center and even that skirmish in the blizzard. Instead we got farting around in Thavnair/Sharlyan filler content.
The game is severely dumbed down starting at SHB. SB changes hurt a little but are a drop in the bucket compared to SHB and EW butchering EX, butchering raid design, 2 minute buff window, Xbox hueg hitboxes, boss auto-positioning, relics becoming blatant one-and-done tome dumps instead of quests. It's genuinely hard to enjoy the game now, even with friends. Starting out dungeons certainly weren't much of a challenge but quite a few could cause wipes if anyone slacked off at parts, these days the only dungeon that presents a modicum of danger Stone Vigil Hard. Even Bardam's Mettle is a joke.
Oh yeah I'll also add that they actually got a good pvp rework going BUT have proceeded to frick it up so bad in the span of a few months that casual queue went from near instant at the end of 6.15 to 10 minutes in 6.25. Ranked is even longer.
I hate the wall to wall hallway "dungeons" we have as a default and would much move prefer them to be like variant dungeons (not criterion).
Fun adventures where you can choose a path, interact with the environment, solve puzzles and stuff.
Wowfugees weren't bullied and exiled back to their horseshit game. Oh also the inventory/storage system is complete shit and I cannot believe that there isn't a way to expand it.
There is a way to expand it, Squenix engineers are just incompetent. I mean look at this shit lmao. They can't even get fundamental mechanics like movement right.
The job design this expansion is terrible and boring, I genuinely can't stand how most of the jobs play right now. And I can only assume it'll get worse.
>rapes the lore established before it >power of friendship garbage up to eleven >final boss so moronic and pointless they had to put a fight with zenos immediately after it >garlemald relegated to a five-minute tour, rest of expansion is reddit-tier trash with furbait rabbits

Yoshida admitted they only came up with dynamis as a concept after shadowbringers was finished. It was an asspull for EW after they had no idea how to finish the story.
making the limit break dynamis is asspull kind of yes. initially it was an excessive build up of aether let out in response to strong emotion which sounds oddly like fricking dynamis now doesnt it but the limit break has been canon since stormblood. this is irrefutable.

Limit Break was canon in Heavensward when a DRG used LB in a cutscene during the Hildibrand quests.

I didn't mention that explicitly because someone will argue the canonical nature of Hildibrand and it's much easier to cite Omega which is irrefutably canon as it is required for Shadowbringers to even exist.

Frick no, I'm glad XIV went for cosmic horror that wasn't just OOOOOOOOHHHHH TENTACLES.
that it was thoroughly refreshing to get a contemporary take on cosmic horror, and one that isn't some pozzed Western 'modern take' either. Aside of the aesthetics of it being cool "AHHH HELP ME Black personMAN AN OCTOPUS" is not unsettling to anyone. Hell, it makes people horny now. You need some new conception of cosmic horror the way Lovecraft's was shaped by his time.
Meteion was an interesting Frankensteinesque concept addressing nihilism and entropy. And the real horror of it being either Meteion: >Canvased the entire universe and found no civilization was alive but Etheiyrs
or >She did not canvas the entire universe and yet her song of entropy has been running for thousands of years now, meaning not only did she find dead and dying planets but she has committed an omnicide of any planets that escaped her attention.
And this was all by the hand of man.

Yes and no. Basic in game poses are brain dead easy - anamesis poses are easy too but when it comes to fine details i.e expression, fingers and scale are really annoying and if you're autistic it can take you hours like me
Go onto XMA (xivmodarchive) and you can find poses. Try and find template-y ones that you can combine. Like there's a hand one that lets you just import the fingers, and you could mix and match - arms from pose X, body from pose Y, then just adjust the arms to fit naturally on the body.

And the rest like Endwalker ended
I'm still quite cool with Zodiark being awakened at a fraction of full power (expectations subverted in a good way) I just wish there was some actual... threat to everything.
Yes the sky is on fire but you don't see any devastation beyond monsters in Radz and the forest on fire on Vanaspati, I mean shit just look at the ARR intro for how should should be fricked up. During the trailers you got a little look at the Dead Ends plague world, with no context I thought we were going to see things properly fricked up on our own world, but no everything is just static and sterile.
This expansion should've been the conclusion of Garlemald and Zodiark, with Zodiark being the 6.3 boss, and then Endwalker focusing fully in the final days, Meteion and Hydaelyn.

Square relies on XIV to find all of its other projects. That's why XIV has never had any graphical, lighting, or code updates since it first launched, it gets barely any of the revenue for itself while the rest goes to FFXVI and FFVIIR and other projects.
Games that demand a monthly sub want to chain you down to it with the financial investment you're putting into it. Its how every damn MMO with a sub model works and how XIV works. You want a game where people can freely jump in and out without worrying about feeling forced to play? Make it F2P. The fact that you cant even realize why a sub model exists is astounding.
>The fact that you cant even realize why a sub model exists is astounding.
It doesn't make much sense for this game, considering it doesn't even have a proper mmo overworld and continues to streamline the multiplayer elements out of the game.

How do you type in the in-game chat while you're playing the game? Do you have a separate pair of hands?
you wont if you put even an ounce of effort into playing by actually reading your tooltips beforehand or even going into a lower level dungeon with a trust first to get your bearings.
Healing is actually piss easy. I did something similar (read the tooltips obviously) and the god complex healer mains tend to have is extra funny now. It's so fricking easy to keep people alive while shitting out damage at the same time I will never take a healers complaint seriously again.
If you do it'll be a third lalafel because they are both Yoshi-P's favorites and aren't threatening to the female fanbase. Or have you noticed yet how many of the surviving relevant females are lalafell save Alisaie and Y'shtola?
The alternative is a female Hrothgar but only if they go the >50% furry route.
Fujos are a very insecure lot so yes. Again note how few relevant females there are compared to males, or how of the scions it's been the females that constantly got written out, while the remaining ones are two lalas and a boygirl? Only reason Y'shtola is still around is because she serves as a mascot at one point.

Im legit taking a break from the game till 6.3 or later. Criterion was the last straw. Its so fricking bland, unfun and unrewarding. Just gonna play other mmos awhile because XIV is getting viciously stale and 'safe.'
I am tempted to let my sub run out and stop raiding but I know if I stop raiding the very next raid tier will have some fricking incredible gear I need dyable. I honestly don't play the game aside of raiding and gposing and roleplaying. Which in terms of dollar to hour I probably double dollar paid per hour played so I don't regret the purchase but if one of those tripods disappears then I'm bouncing.
I knew it would happen after endwalker, felt like the high of the release and the end of the story took away some of the magic and now I'm a lot more bitter and no longer willing to brook Yoshida cultists. Small indie developer please understand.
You know what really fricks with me?
The Endwalker trailer. The first, incomplete one had a moment of silence/ambience. The final one didn't and messed up the flow of the trailer.
I wish the Endwalker trailer was more about the players instead of the story characters >ishgardian dragoons fighting in the air with dragons while machinists gun down the hordes of terminus creatures >a monk, samurai and red mage fighting in the streets of ala mhigo >scholar and ninja assisting in the preparation for the incoming conflict >reaper and dark knight using darkness to fend off a huge wave of abominations
Would've made those parts in Footfalls referencing each expansions theme way, WAY more interesting

Designing dungeons as chores to be completed daily is a major part of the problem. Dungeons should be multi-purpose content. There should be reasons to go to dungeons besides the primary boss objectives, like BRD in WoW had the vault, mc attune, the dark iron bar, the keys + shortcuts, the black forge, MC raid entrance, etc.

If the roulette system comes at an expense to the dungeon design it needs to be changed. Making the dungeon themselves drop the rewards would be an improvement. 2 years ago
Anonymous
>is two packs not enough?
NTA but I miss doing megapulls in Castrum, the standard two packs just doesn't scratch that itch
Dungeons are formulaic because there's a non-zero chance you'll do them every day. You think they're monotonous now, just wait until it's complex AND a daily.
I wish horizontal proggresion was real. Actual support jobs, elemental and physical attributes and subjobd were also real.
Warrior/Dark Knight being a glass cannon
Samurai/Paladin parrying tankbusters
Some combos won't work but it someone was able to do T13 on content as a Lancer AND keeping up in dps with the other jobs then go for it.
>Why did it take them this fricking long to start adding harder dungeons?
Because if a healer were to die then players might feel a moment of discomfort, and we can't have that.
They originally had harder dungeons. The average XIV player would shit their pants if they encountered Pharos Sirius as it was at launch. It got nerfed twice almost immediately because it was curbstomping people and they screamed to high heaven about it. That incident and Steps of Faith showed the devs that their players can't handle content that requires any sort of thought.
The first boss with the crystal explosions was much, much more unforgiving. Adds had to be burned immediately or else they'd throw stacks on you and your whole group would explode and die. Second boss you had to slow down and take your time managing the adds so you didn't piss off the mom because she would just kill you.
Steps of Faith required the group to use the dragonkillers and snares. If you didn't do it and you missed even one dragonkiller shot, you wouldn't make the dps check in time. It wasn't difficult but it demanded that people do anything but treat the boss like a targeting dummy and as Heavensward release was approaching there were still a shitload of people walled at the fight who weren't going to be able to start the expansion unless they nerfed it.
>Steps of Faith required the group to use the dragonkillers and snares. If you didn't do it and you missed even one dragonkiller shot, you wouldn't make the dps check in time. It wasn't difficult but it demanded that people do anything but treat the boss like a targeting dummy
considering even in its nerfed state I've had parties actually reach the final section, or even outright fail the duty, that change was a godsend
That's not true at all. Even back then you could just focus on DPS the entire time and still kill it just fine. It's just that your typical shitter couldn't even pull of the simpler rotations from the time and if you had someone waste time running to the cannons and they missed, well you just lost a huge chunk of DPS the person could have been doing. Also idiots that died would sit there and wait for a raise instead of just returning back to start without getting weakness.
You could miss the snars on steps of faith and even one drgaonkiller, it was more important that you had 2 people on cannons keeping the boss slowed and burning the adds so that the DPS could foxus on the boss exclusively. Cannons > dragonkillers > snares. However you could just ignore all of that shit from stormblood onwards
As a girl, I don't trust these type of discords because either two things will happen, drama and/or they let in trans girls and it makes it weird since it's suppose to be a 'girls server' and be a 'safe space'.
>WoW players have never had a decent story and have been trained to ignore it so the only enjoyment to extract from the game is gameplay and/or difficulty >FFXIV players play MSQ FOR the story so there's literally zero point for needlessly complex dungeons, that would just hamper players ability to progress the story >WoWfugees finally get sick of the no lube fricking that Blizzard gives them and try FFXIV >All of them story skip and level boost because they were trained wrong, on purpose >"Bro why are these dungeons so simple, wheres the mythic+ system? It's you claiming there are games that do raid combat better than MMOs. You obviously wouldn't compare mmo combat to FPS combat because they're so different there's no axis of comparison to make.
it's the truth
mmos are dogshit and always have been, at least back in everquest they had the excuse of it being to hang out with friends
there's a reason people stopped making mmos, because everyone realized they were shit and it was just blizzard jacking off their slaves with years of busywork while a few others tried to siphon some of them off
if 14 was a real game it would be infinitely better
I've been enjoying the stuff we got with the 13th in 6.1 and 6.2, but I worry the conclusion will be unsatisfying since we already killed off two fiends.

NTA, but he has a point. Most of the casual content in this game is on the same level of mental engagement as banal facebook games you can play for free, especially the content you listed.
The only real reason to play this game is for the raids and the story. If I want casual gameplay I can just play children's Mario titles and have a more interesting experience than any of the casual content FFXIV offers.

Anyone not good enough for criterion will just buy the rewards in a week when the prices plummet. So by making the rewards tradeable they removed the only small incentive. Well besides your "fun" of doing some boring single pull nondescript tunnel dungeon.

People actually letting their pets die when raiding was fricking funny.
Both hardcore raiders and casuals are complaining because this offers nothing to them but a one off glamour and mount. Which they botched by making all the rewards tradeable anyway.
If 620 came from the normal version it would be good. Criterion savage is unironically harder than most of this raid tier and warrants raid gear rewards.
I know you're being facetious, but Xeno and Arthars are symbolic of everything wrong with XIV's community

You can personally dislike him, but his opinions on determining the difficulty of content is far more credible and valid than anons.
If you actually did savage you'd know that's true. P5 is only hard because PF shitters suck at devour, P6 is a joke and P7 is 3 fricking mechs all the way at the end of the fight.
>I should be able to run this dungeon that is mildly difficult and fully gear a character with free drops of gear that would normally take a week of tomes or a week of lockouts
No, moron.
They wouldn't do that because then it defeats the purpose of catch up patches. Upgrade materials for tome gear is literally the best thing they could do because there's only one 1 to get those during even number patches and it's the worst part of gearing up, like my group still needs a good amount of upgrades, meanwhile sometimes savage gear is hitting the floor because none of us need shit anymore.
because 90% of them are absolute morons that still can't get past the IQ check in Ridorana and the other 10% are parsetrannies that hate anything that distracts from muh numbers and also can't beat the IQ check in Ridorana
>market Criterion dungeons for midcore players
>actually they're for week one savage raiders
I'm on the verge of quitting for good. Everything I enjoyed about the game keeps getting shittier and Yoshida can't keep getting away with his lies. Why the FRICK is the sync ilvl 635 for Criterion? Who the frick thought this was a good idea?
Criterion deungon can be done with min ilevel just learn the patterns savage you re gonna need 635 bis and dps effciently
wow you're kind of a little b***h huh?
people asked for harder 4 man content for nearly a decade. people got exactly what they asked for.
>it's hard so it has to be for people who have time to raid
That's my issue. The difficulty isn't the problem, it's the moronicly high ilvl sync.
>Still no extra chat tabs despite me asking for it since ARR.
>Still no blue mage updates
>No actual interactivity with other players on island sanctuary
>cash shop
>Haven't thrown in the towel on class locked gear for anything that isnt job AF
End of story.
>you are a detriment
>noOOOOOO I NEED TO OPTIMIZE IM OPTIMIZIIIIIIIING
Get over yourself. It's clearable with min ilevel. Even basic dungeons have a minimum item level requirement. Make some fricking friends. They got ONE (1) difficult mode for themselves.
Variant/Criterion dungeons introduced scalable 1-4 player content. Harder 4 man group content, and even harder 4 man group content for raiders. Everyone got something. Stop fricking b***hing you actual waste of oxygen.
>NOOOOOO STOP POINTING OUT FLAWS YOSHIDA-SAN IS PERFECT HE NEVER LIES

You have no fricking rebuttal so your resort to the weakest fricking argument in the book. You are pathetic.
>Everyone got something.
None of that is midcore content.
please post your arbitrary definition of midcore. there are no lockouts for criterion savage, or weeklies.
a level of difficulty in which a preformed party with roles are necessary but competent players can beat in one lockout
That is literally what base ASS is you fricking moron.
Certainly not "Ex Primals but harder".
Thats what savage is, not normal. It's like you morons don't actually even play the fricking game holy shit.
Isn't the only difference between Savage and Normal Criterion that bosses have more HP?
the bosses have more hp, there is no rezzing at all, if you wipe you start from the very, very beginning, and theres a fairly harsh time limit.
Kinda out of the loop since I don't play consistently, if there is no rezzing are RDM and SMN compensated at all?
raising only works with the variant raise ability like delubrum savage. im unsure if they're compensated.
the real issue is that the rewards are fricking nothing
Regular criterion can 100% be cleared by a group of players in 610 crafted gear. DPS checks are very lenient. When i did it with pug on day two of us weren't bis. I do also think it should be possible to do savage version in ~610+ gear but that would require some extra sweat and optimizations given 24 min time limit.
Savage is easier than Extremes. Why do you think the reward is a manuscript that you can exchange for a glamour, a housing item or materia?
You shouldn't sub outside of expansion launches if you don't raid.
>killing 90% of the active playerbase
I just don't think the fights are any fun, also it is fricking annoying to have to clear the trash each time you reload the instance and have to get through previous bosses. The "You can raise only once" thing also seems to be pretty dumb? Honestly, I imagined something entirely different when they said harder dungeon content. As it stands I did it once and feel 0 need to do it again. Even if it gave any meaningful loot, the fights were just shit.
>Even if it gave any meaningful loot, the fights were just shit.
have a nice day
Same here.
>Savage equals a guessing/ trial and error game for the first 50 tries
>It then becomes simon says
Why?
>single pull
>we get wiped in literally 1 second
>we get wiped at the hamster at 90% because the game tells us nothing about what to do in any way (stacking on yellow brooms?)
I'll just stick with the single player version. I have no idea what the frick they were thinking with this shit.
Did you not play the normal version where it it shows you what the wind/ice poms do? The only new thing here is lightning IIRC
What the frick?
If you're stationary when the stack damage hits you'll be frozen, just jump in place.
>those mixed up replies
Cute AND dumb. The perfect thighlander.
>we want midcore content!
>*wipes once*
>WAAAAA IT'S TOO HARD
There is nothing midcore about regular enemies hitting like a truck filled with bricks, instant cone attacks, obtuse boss mechanics and almost everything being instakill.
No casual asked for this.
Just watch a guide like a normal person
>just be a parsetroony
No thanks. Enjoy your one criterion dungeon and the whole thing ending up like the squadron barracks content because you will not be getting a new one.
This entire thing is an objective failure and nobody likes it.
No one is asking you to be a parse troony you fricking moronic homosexual.
It's medium difficulty. I don't even raid savage and I'm doing this content. How fricking dogshit are you? And how many more excuses do you intend to make for your own shit play?
>medium difficulty
Except that it isn't.
Enjoy your dead content if PF is anything to go by.
>party finder
>content was explicitly designed to not need party finder due to the nature of being smaller group content
No wonder you can't do it, you're sub room temp.
>content was explicitly designed to not need party finder due to the nature of being smaller group content
this makes literally no sense lol. finding 3 people would be even easier on the PF than finding 7 people.
Not it makes complete and total sense that smaller group content isn't using the party finder as much because people who actually have friends get to do it together, you do know what friends are right?
>Not it makes complete and total sense that smaller group content isn't using the party finder as much
No it doesn't.
> people who actually have friends get to do it together, you do know what friends are right?
Why wouldn't this also apply to raids?
because anyone who has played an mmo for more than 3 hours knows the more people required for an activity the more progressively difficult it is to organize it with randoms, hence the need for a party finder. You're a fricking moron. This is like saying you need party finders to do roulettes. Spoiler, nobody fricking does that shithead.
I wonder if you're just baiting or if there are actually people complaining about the difficulty of ASS, like normal dungeons are so dogshit easy the only threats are a tank who does't cds or an illiterate healer, and here's bosses with fun mechs outside of 3 minute long visual tells and suddenly it's immediately too hard.
The only gripe is that those rewards are fricking dogshit.
I'm genuinely curious, what content do you consider medium difficulty?
BLU duties.
why the frick would a CASUAL ask for MIDCORE you fricking moron
Midcore isn't casual!!!! Criterion is disappointing but I think it's about right on the difficulty. Although I'd change savage to have one raise per character and regular to not have a raise restriction but also no lost actions.
players literally LITERALLY asked for this content
>get it
>instantly start b***hing that it's pointless
Nobody asked for extreme boss rush mode.
if you want endless halls of trash that require organization to take out, i recommend deep dungeon or DRS/BA
Only the wowtroons wanted it because OMG IT'S GONNA BE JUST LIKE M+
I wanted it because I wanted dungeons less agonizingly boring than vanilla dungeons. Then I forgot this is square enix and their inept at gameplay.
I wanted dungeons to be "funer" not harder.
Variant version is how it was always supposed to be.
The content is what people were looking for, but were disappointed for other reasons.
people asked for harder dungeon content
Harder dungeon content implies better rewards, because regular dungeon content gives better rewards than criterion lmao
>Harder dungeon content implies better rewards
No it doesn't.
In what world does it make sense to create harder content without better rewards? It just results in the content dying out immediately, at best when the players get their shiny one time achievement or mount. Which they also fricked up by letting the mount be tradeable.
>In what world does it make sense to create harder content without better rewards?
In a world where people like to play video games. Ultimates follow the same philosophy.
Those things that like 1% of the population did and stopped doing shortly after each launch and most players agree its a waste of dev focus? Yeah those.
yes, which is why these shouldn't have existed since it's just trying to pander to raidBlack folk from wow who don't understand the concept of doing something because it's fun but only for ilvl
>from wow
mindbroken casual xivtroon
>morons still pretending WoW invented the concept of REWARDS
People raid for rewards. They want new gear. Nobody is running raids post gearing up FoR fUN.
unironically mindbroken by the gear treadmill
I'm sorry for your loss
>Nobody is running raids post gearing up FoR fUN.
Plenty of people do, actually. They create parsing and speedrunning challenges out of it.
this is proof that FFXIV players don't want to play video games, they just want to have already played a video game so they can get their dopamine hits lmao.
>FFXIV players don't want to play video games
Its what you get when you design your game for morons and turn it into VRCHAT
moron
>yeah well that implies (random assumption)
no lol
Harder content=better rewards has been a staple in games forever, the frick are guys smoking?
anon the hardest content in 14 gives you a title and a shiny weapon that looks worse than 90% of the weapons in the game
why are people surprised that this hard content gives you a title and a some earring or something that's worse than 90% of the ones in the game?
>and a shiny weapon
thats BiS for the patch that the content drop. Stop coping.
And doing the last floor of savage, easier content, gives you an equivalent weapon with 36 less of a substat, and a BiS chestpiece.
>Harder content=better rewards has been a staple in games forever,
Uhh, no, it's a pretty common trope to have only an achievement or cosmetic award for the hardest content, because it's only meant for a small demographic to actually do. Plenty of games don't reward you for hard content at all, like if I go to the arcade and beat Contra I don't get rewarded with shit.
contra doesn't really have content, it does one thing. Comparing that to an RPG or an MMORPG is like you trying to say your two inch dick is just as good as another guys ten inch dick, not even in the same league
>contra doesn't really have content, it does one thing.
It takes me more time and effort to beat contra than it takes me to clear criterion dungeons lmao.
If you need rewards to 'enjoy' doing something in any videogame, please stop playing it. You homosexuals are the reason so many new games are afflicted with the cancer called 'Battle Pass'.
>we want harder dungeons so that us midcore players can enjoy more difficult content that doesn't require a full group!
>NOOOOO WHAT DO YOU MEAN IT JUST GIVES COSMETICS, I WANTED FREE BIS GEAR WITHOUT HAVING TO DO SAVAGE REEEEEE
Many raiders I've seen say criterion savage is easily harder than P6-7S.

You ever feel like they jumped the shark with Meteion and Ultima Thule? Fighting her felt extremely empty even with the Zenos fight afterwards.
Vertical progression.
>You ever feel like they jumped the shark
They jumped the shark with all of EW
endwalker was supposed to be two separate expansions yoshi said years ago the moon was supposed to be 7.0. Garlemald should have been its own whole expansion.
I'd love to see where the timeline diverged from Moon/Garlemald into Endwalker. To me it feels like the palace scene with Zenos and Varis. They could've hinted at Dynamis with Varis taking on Zenos.
Good, frick Garlemald, and the Garleans. The only good ones are Cid, Lucia, and Punished Gaius.
Stormblood was shit because it wasn't cohesive, it was written by two different teams and the lack of cohesive vision showed
They could've easily learned from that mistake and just followed Ishikawa.
I dont doubt that, im just stating the reasons why Stormblood is shit. Endwalker feels pretty bad because I feel as though they just tried to do a bait and switch
If I were in charge I'd have the WoL have dreams of the other dead civilizations. Endsinger is watching Ethyris and our connection to her (time travel bs) allows us to see the moments leading up to each planets final day. I was hoping Therion was like the planets antibody or something. Its a cool design.
That would be if they banned modding.
Stormblood was shit because it wrote out best Scion, pic related. And guess what, the story picked up the moment they let her do shit in 4.3 again.
its so refreshing not having dumb c**t alisaie or pandering homosexual graha tia in these recent patches.

EW was trash and exposed Ishikawa as a fujohack
they jumped the shark bringing zenos back. throwing the eyes over the bridge and illberd using them and giving alisaie more time than she deserves.
It's hard to feel invested when the culmination of a decade old story is just another trope of "dude despair" represented by a character introduced at the eleventh hour surrounded by pretentious moralism that the writers spent several cutscenes trying to shove it down your throat even though they're none the wiser about it
The only good thing about it was Zenos asking you why the frick you're still listening to all that garbage

the north of vylbrand is a volcanic lava field. you can see it in the volcano map of CC
next eureka should be about exploring those lands
I don't play MMOs. Does that count ?
Regular difficulty is too easy and classes generally have become too streamlined, particularly healers where you spend most of your time with a simple DPS rotation and as long as your group is halfway competent and dance battle correctly they'll avoid most damage.
stormblood is trash
garlean arc is trash
zenos is trash

Holy fricking trash opinion Batman!

all the expansion content in endwalker except DSR has been bad
No hats for Viera
not enough nero content
I was hype as frick with the EW Benchmark showing that massive battle in Garlemald city center and even that skirmish in the blizzard. Instead we got farting around in Thavnair/Sharlyan filler content.
Its too much like wow and not enough like ff11 and yes i dont care that ff14 1.0 failed.
The UI is dogshit and dated as frick
I hate the wall to wall hallway "dungeons" we have as a default and would much move prefer them to be like variant dungeons (not criterion).
Fun adventures where you can choose a path, interact with the environment, solve puzzles and stuff.
Variant Dungeons have their own tab, so there will probably be plenty more in the future
We'll be lucky if we get one more before the next expansion.
Anon, we already know the roadmap. There's another V/C dungeon in 6.45 and one last one in 6.55.
Barbariccia not having her own theme
>Prove you all aren't cultists: Post one criticism of this game.
this bad pasta post
not enough reference to the ff's people actually played
Wowfugees weren't bullied and exiled back to their horseshit game. Oh also the inventory/storage system is complete shit and I cannot believe that there isn't a way to expand it.
There is a way to expand it, Squenix engineers are just incompetent. I mean look at this shit lmao. They can't even get fundamental mechanics like movement right.
Everything except the post-EW msq has been shit this expansion.
The game allows you to play
It's too short. Needs at least 40-80 more hours of cutscenes.
The job design this expansion is terrible and boring, I genuinely can't stand how most of the jobs play right now. And I can only assume it'll get worse.
I hope the next expansion gets here soon, I'm getting out of shape lazing around on my island.
Why can't I find this body type for females

What do you think will happen to Yoshida if XVI flops/succeeds?
If there is another FF MMO what would you like to see?
whats a flop? launch day disaster bugs? stranger of paradise tier sales?
Lifetime sales.
Wasn't a fan of Endwalker. The whole emo e-girl-bird and the asspull of dynamis was pretty shit way to end it all.
what did you think limit breaks were this whole time gay?
non-canon game mechanic stolen from previous games just like everything else in this shit pile
its explicitly canon and has been since stormblood when omega called you out on it and then tried to copy you, you utter fricking moron.
Yeah I wanted Lavos to burst out of the fricking planet, but instead we got depressed bird
Lavos would have been cool.

would have been better than a fricking emo birdgirl
I didn't need it to be Lavos but just something better than a moe emo bird e-girl. They could have even just used her as a vessel, saying she was possessed by some unknown entity out in space somewhere and still had 'her' serve as the final boss. Would have also left somewhere for the plot to go since now we are probably just gonna be meandering.
haven't played many FF games. at the approximate percentage of time that Meteion herself is introduced she's in the better half of FF end bosses' introductions. Garland from FF1 for example is literally the last interaction you make in the game
and if you want to count the end of CT's 'This is all wrongg' morse code its been 8 years
She's actually in the worse half with Cloud of Darkness, Garland,Necron, Ultimecia/Edea and Orphan in percentage of time and usage after introduction.
> possessed by some unknown entity out in space somewhere
Frick no, I'm glad XIV went for cosmic horror that wasn't just OOOOOOOOHHHHH TENTACLES.
How was Meteion cosmic horror?
That's not what I meant and you know it.
Not meteion herself specifically but the realization that everywhere else in the universe is dead or dying and Etheirys is going to end up just like them sooner or later.
That would've been nice if Meteion herself wasn't in the equation and the whole thing wasn't triggered by
>i-is that a cold, dead space?
>AAAAAAAAAARGHHHH IM DESPAIRING SAVE ME HERMESMAN
Meteion is literally Man pointing a gun to the head of the rest of the universe and yelling IF I'M GOING DOWN YOU'RE ALL COMING WITH ME
They did lay it on thick with the hope vs despair speeches.
>How was Meteion cosmic horror?
the fear of the unknown and the greater cosmos being uncaring and destructive
which was always the themes of it and not AAAAAAA Black personMAN SAVE ME IS THAT AIR CONDITIONING?
>They could have even just used her as a vessel, saying she was possessed by some unknown entity out in space somewhere and still had 'her' serve as the final boss.
That's literally what she was, did you skip the cutscene where its explained all those races feedback looped onto her and turned her into what she was? She wasn't the final boss, the despair of an incalculable number of races was. The final boss was essentially The Great Filter. I don't understand how people keep missing this.
at least we didn't get cucked like FFXI did, with its ultimate boss being FF3's final boss. possibly even the same being
I agree with
that it was thoroughly refreshing to get a contemporary take on cosmic horror, and one that isn't some pozzed Western 'modern take' either.
And the real horror of it being either Meteion:
>Canvased the entire universe and found no civilization was alive but Etheiyrs
or
>She did not canvas the entire universe and yet her song of entropy has been running for thousands of years now, meaning not only did she find dead and dying planets but she has committed an omnicide of any planets that escaped her attention.
And this was all by the hand of man.
Tie Sharlayan to 7.0, rather than 6.0. No garlemald player hub.
Do agree with having old zones adjacent to places we'd been to reflect the horror of the end of days in a more personal way.
Bros i can't decide if i should fanta into Hyur midlander, cat miqote or lala (all male). Please help me pick. I just want to never fanta again ffs but fanta into viera was a fcking mistake. Incomplete shit race.
i cant answer this question without you posting how each would look.
I did this quickly rn so it can vary. Top left is my current.
definitely lalafell unless you really enjoy shoes and different boots, in which case probably best to go hyur.
i enjoy doing glamours on lalas as you have a different set of rules to go by. lalas get a lot more mileage out of hats for example
go lalafell then and be the best little onahole you can be. cheers anon.
i took the lalapill 8 years ago. never looked back. other races just feel slow and clunky and aren't as expressive
I was lalafell from stormblood to post shadowbringers but I swapped to viera and just regularly b***h about hats now. While I did like lalafell, I like being tall, and having actual boots, and not needing to use the tamamo headband if I want ears.
you have knifeears as a lala. big ones too. and there are helmets that actually accommodate them
so unless you have a special interest in feet, which you would need to mod then as default feet are terrible, lala is the best choice
I don't have a special interest in feet, my partner has a special interest in being a personal onahole, so size difference is a requirement. Ergo, male viera is the way to go.
I was a lalafell before from arr and shb but after the story became too serious in it's theme i just couldn't take it seriously in the cutscenes. I like them for gameplay and all but for anything else they just make me laugh and can't inmerse on the story.
>(all male)
Why would anyone care?
If you plan on wearing helmets, pick hyur. If you're a caster main, pick lala. If you're gay, pick miqote.
Game fricking sucks

For me, it’s Highlander.

Is gposing easy?
BUILT for Ishgard.
No MHIGGERS allowed in Ishgard
Ala Mhigan QUEENS are always allowed in the temple knight barracks.
>No MHIGGERS allowed in Ishgard
>when the WoL is right there
The most egregious part of Endwalker was how they handled the Final Days. It's just one dungeon and that's it.
the hydaelyn cutscene was worse.
>final days - its just one dungeon and an orange skybox for a single quest
>annoying elephants and rabbits
>three shitty zones were torture to play through
Endwalker was disappointing
they rushed the plot. 6.0 should have been
>first trial Fandaniel and Zenos
>Garlemald two zones at least
>second trial Anima
>Third Trial Zodiark
>Post 6.5 ends with Final Days in Thav
>7.0 the final days come to the rest of the world and you do dungeons and solo instances in the main cities
>first trial is an important character turned into a monster
>Expand the past world to know better Meteion
And the rest like Endwalker ended
I'm still quite cool with Zodiark being awakened at a fraction of full power (expectations subverted in a good way) I just wish there was some actual... threat to everything.
Yes the sky is on fire but you don't see any devastation beyond monsters in Radz and the forest on fire on Vanaspati, I mean shit just look at the ARR intro for how should should be fricked up. During the trailers you got a little look at the Dead Ends plague world, with no context I thought we were going to see things properly fricked up on our own world, but no everything is just static and sterile.
>EW trailer showed the final days happening in la noscea
i got so excited for this...why did they lie, bros?
This expansion should've been the conclusion of Garlemald and Zodiark, with Zodiark being the 6.3 boss, and then Endwalker focusing fully in the final days, Meteion and Hydaelyn.
Exactly. I want to throttle the people who thought combining the two expansions into was a good idea.
>Do that in Stormblood
>It was shit
>Do that in Endwalker
>It was better than Stormblood but still shit
They didn't learn.
It took two bombs for them to learn their lesson. Guess it just runs in their blood.
>the kino part of garlemald (the actual city) takes up about a quarter of the zone
>rest of the zone is just coerthas western highlands 2
what were they thinking????
The good part of garlemald was after the party rocker shoots himself in the head.
They were thinking that everything before elpis is a waste of time and only their fanservice zone with Emet, Hythlodeus and Venat matters.
Glad someone gets it

The MSQ is painfully boring from a gameplay perspective. Somehow they made the quest objectives even more banal than in WoW.
Maybe have a rest, but Shadowbringers is a whole shitload more interesting than what you've just gone through.
>i want to avoid forcing people to play
>maintains a subscription based model
Way to contradict yourself Yoshi
You got a troony send by Square in your house who holds a gun to your head and forces you to stay subscribed to the game or else?
Games that demand a monthly sub want to chain you down to it with the financial investment you're putting into it. Its how every damn MMO with a sub model works and how XIV works. You want a game where people can freely jump in and out without worrying about feeling forced to play? Make it F2P. The fact that you cant even realize why a sub model exists is astounding.
XIV doesn't chain me down unless I've got a house.
>The fact that you cant even realize why a sub model exists is astounding.
It doesn't make much sense for this game, considering it doesn't even have a proper mmo overworld and continues to streamline the multiplayer elements out of the game.
>Games that demand a monthly sub want to chain you down to it with the financial investment you're putting into it.
outside of you know the lead dev telling people to frick off, repeatedly, for years
you can't even use the moronic argument about houses since demo's been off for god knows how long
>outside of you know the lead dev telling people to frick off, repeatedly, for years
Never happened. YoshiP tells people to play other games, but he never tells people to unsub. The phrasing he uses is very deliberate.
Damn homie this game has dodge tanks after all, the way you dodged the point
>No you don't understand he just said to stop playing the game and go play other games he didn't actually mean it because uhhhhhhh
If you think YoshiP told people to unsub then feel free to post a clip of him saying that.
>No you don't understand he just said to stop playing the game and go play other games he didn't actually mean it because uhhhhhhh
Nothing in this quote tells players to unsub. Are you illiterate?
>No you don't understand he just said to stop playing the game and go play other games he didn't actually mean it because uhhhhhhh
Di you not know that you can stop playing the game without unsubbing?
What kind of moron takes a, lets say, six month break from a game but still pays the sub? Think before you post dumbass
>What kind of moron takes a, lets say, six month break from a game but still pays the sub?
Are you new to sub services? People neglecting their subs is a major point of profit for virtually all of them, and corporations all take advantage of it.
He just did.
Reminder that Yoshi never tells people to unsub outside of the meme clip from a fan asking him to say it during Fanfest.
the screencap is explicitly from the NoClip documentary so maybe lay off the hallucinogens or maybe take your medication.
Then make it Free2Play if you want that mentality. What fricking nonsense is this? The game pretty much forces a Sunk Cost Fallacy on its players even if you start off with a few subs here and there. Your financial investment isnt going to get better.
Square relies on XIV to find all of its other projects. That's why XIV has never had any graphical, lighting, or code updates since it first launched, it gets barely any of the revenue for itself while the rest goes to FFXVI and FFVIIR and other projects.
How hard is this? When you want to play XIV, sub. When you don't and want to spend your money elsewhere, unsub. It's a video game, bro.
Should I resub? I have no friends who play XIV but I do have a friend who has friends who play WoW but I am a weeb who likes stories.
either find/make friends or wait for 6.3. game isnt going anywhere.
Why wait? Also how do I make friends? I was thinking if I did come back trying to get into raiding content.
search through the community finder for an fc. the less autistic fc's tend to actually use that tool instead of spamming shout chats.
Ok cool ty. I am too old for dumb drama a lot of the time and just want to play with cool people who want to get better and have fun.
i found a new fc recently that actually plays the game and doesn't use their discord for anything other than announcing events and posting screenshots. they all actually talk in game with the fc chat or meeting up in the world to hang out and do fates or gather together. its been a nice change of pace.
I am not adverse to discord but using discord for every conversation fricking sucks and leads to a lot of clique shit and needing to be in discord 24/7.
it's just nice to see that a majority of conversation actually takes place in game. Like an mmo should.
>it's just nice to see that a majority of conversation actually takes place in game. Like an mmo should.
Except there's no voice chat. How can even close to a majority of conversation take place in the game when the game has zero comm features?
what the frick mmos are you playing with in-line voip?
Every single modern mmo has built in voice chat except for FFXIV.
WoW, Lost Ark, New World, all have built in voice chat. How did you not know that?
wow it's all garbage only brought up by pissy aussies in /mmog/ trying too hard to pwn the game they don't like
It's fine if you don't like them, but it's also a fact that they have built in voice chat and FFXIV doesn't. FFXIV is frequently behind in basic features like this.
>wow has voice chat
since when what the frick
since he made it the frick up
you have actual brain damage lmao. WoW has had built in VoIP for most of its life.
https://wowpedia.fandom.com/wiki/Voice_Chat
"It has it" doesn't imply "good," same as WoW's controller support. Shoo, argumentative sperm.
>"It has it" doesn't imply "good,"
It was bad for several years, but they reworked it and it's been perfectly fine for nearly a decade.
Because you don't have to download 3rd party software to use the in-game VoIP.
I'm not gonna use a shittier VoIP just because it's built in, nice try.
How is it shittier?
How is it better?
I didn't say it was better, you said it was shittier.
Yes, WoW supports addons natively, which enables it to have better controller features than FFXIV, which doesn't support addons natively.
warcraft moment
You forgot to include an argument.
>argue with me!
warcraft moment
>disconnect from game
>tell other players over discord, they wait for you
vs
>disconnect from game
>now cannot tell them anything
What's wrong with WoW's controller support? ConsolePort addon has better features than FFXIV's default controller features lmao.
>addon = native support
warcraft moment
>What's wrong with WoW's controller support?
>It's an addon
lol
lmao even
Are you saying that since it's an addon that players can't use it? I can't tell what point you think you're making.
>it's ok that our controller features are worse, because YoshiP made them
xiv players are mentally broken lol
>addons are native support
What does that have to do with anything?
dummy
is an addon third party, anon
Since 2007. To be fair it was shit for a long time, but it works well now.
https://wowpedia.fandom.com/wiki/Voice_Chat
I've played wow on and off since BC and I literally never knew this was a feature, so I have to assume a vast majority of people don't either. Vent/TS was the standard for a reason.
people use discord just because that's what everyone else uses. the actual VoIP feature in the game still works fine, though.
I'm just saying this is literally the first time I've heard about it and if my autistic wiki reading ass never knew about it, I have to assume a majority of players don't either.
Why would I use the ingame VoIP and not Discord's?
By typing in the ingame chat. I don't want to hear my FC mates lispy voices and I'm sure they don't want to hear me stuttering and mumbling all the time.
>By typing in the ingame chat.
How do you type in the in-game chat while you're playing the game? Do you have a separate pair of hands?
If you like watching movies and not playing video games, FFXIV is a pretty good game for that.
come back to 6.4 when everything is out.
Wait for 6.3 unless you really want to find out more about the alien civilizations you saw in the dead ends
>allowing Garleans on the moon

When 7.0 comes, are you going to be Team Magma or Team Aqua?
Magma. Team Aqua is for homosexuals.
Team Aqua if they have give us a brown big-tittied cake. So Team Magma.
How much will I piss off roulette parties if I choose SGE as my first healer class?
you wont if you put even an ounce of effort into playing by actually reading your tooltips beforehand or even going into a lower level dungeon with a trust first to get your bearings.
A lot, assuming you're illiterate
Just make sure you know what everything does and you should be fine.
Literally nothing can go wrong this games dungeons are on a track
as long as you don't play RPR, you're okay in my book.
Healing is actually piss easy. I did something similar (read the tooltips obviously) and the god complex healer mains tend to have is extra funny now. It's so fricking easy to keep people alive while shitting out damage at the same time I will never take a healers complaint seriously again.
Are we finally getting another female Scions?
i highly, HIGHLY doubt Zero is going to be a permanent party member.
from my understanding they want to flesh out Krile more, so lala fans rejoice. the destroyer of elf boys is getting an upgrade
>male viera with human ears
>female
If you do it'll be a third lalafel because they are both Yoshi-P's favorites and aren't threatening to the female fanbase. Or have you noticed yet how many of the surviving relevant females are lalafell save Alisaie and Y'shtola?
The alternative is a female Hrothgar but only if they go the >50% furry route.
>threatening to the female fanbase.
Does anyone honestly think WoL could get cucked from getting with their favorite Scion?
Fujos are a very insecure lot so yes. Again note how few relevant females there are compared to males, or how of the scions it's been the females that constantly got written out, while the remaining ones are two lalas and a boygirl? Only reason Y'shtola is still around is because she serves as a mascot at one point.
You say this but Ganker does this all the fricking time with female characters too.
You'd be right but in the case of FFXIV there's been a very clear bias for the last few years.
Doctor's orders: Euthanize a hrothgar TODAY!

It does. The next expansion will supposedly feature a lighting update though
>garlean expansion

I think you are moronic
Thanks
Nanamo is adorable
I'm happy they involved her with the new dungeon.
Im legit taking a break from the game till 6.3 or later. Criterion was the last straw. Its so fricking bland, unfun and unrewarding. Just gonna play other mmos awhile because XIV is getting viciously stale and 'safe.'
What other MMOs are there anymore?
This is where I listen a bunch of huge pop, popular mmos and you say they're all dead or bad.
>listen
List them anon, I won't say that they are dead or bad I promise
I'll play for a month until my sub runs out and will probably resub in a year.
Success!
They also ruined the flourish WoL does at the end
The Shadowbringers trailer is still the pinnacle of all trailers.
I still watch it fairly frequently
I wish the Endwalker trailer was more about the players instead of the story characters
>ishgardian dragoons fighting in the air with dragons while machinists gun down the hordes of terminus creatures
>a monk, samurai and red mage fighting in the streets of ala mhigo
>scholar and ninja assisting in the preparation for the incoming conflict
>reaper and dark knight using darkness to fend off a huge wave of abominations
Would've made those parts in Footfalls referencing each expansions theme way, WAY more interesting
That would have been a cool as frick throwback to the end of an era cinematic.
I am enjoying grinding dailies for relic weapons and no amount of complaining will stop me.

Every dungeon is just two packs of trash that will be pulled wall to wall then a boss. Repeat three times each dungeon.
Incredibly boring.
Why must WoW trannies insist EVERY stage of the game be a fricking time sink, holy moly
because they want to actually play a video game instead of being railroaded to the dopamine reward asap.
Then just play WoW and grind rep for 17 years, the perfect game already exists if that's what you want.
Ex WoW troony here. Killing trash isn't challenging, it's just tedious. Bosses are what makes PvE content fun. Nu-blizzard doesn't get this. They add mindless trashes to raids because "muh immersion" and more mindless trash to dungeons because speedrun plus.
>Killing trash isn't challenging, it's just tedious.
There's no reason it can't be challenging.
>Bosses are what makes PvE content fun.
Nah, M+ trash is easily as fun as M+ bosses, and both are considerably more engaging than anything in FFXIV dungeons.
These dungeons make FF13 look like fricking wizardry. They're all the same and it's boring as hell.
*picks item up*
*places it somewhere else*
ahhh ion i am so engaged rn
Unironically sounds more engaging than an FFXIV dungeon since it has you do more than walk forward and fight railroad bosses.
unironically you are a drooling idiot with a compulsive arguing addiction
>Pull two mob packs
>AoE them to death
>Fight piss easy boss
>Pull two mob packs
>AoE them to death
>Fight piss easy boss
>Pull two mob packs
>AoE them to death
>Fight piss easy boss
>Collect tomestones and leave
So compelling.
Please come up with a better design that remains compelling when that content also needs to remain evergreen and not a massive fricking annoyance when someone gets it in their daily roulette.
*crickets*
>when someone gets it in their daily roulette.
Designing dungeons as chores to be completed daily is a major part of the problem. Dungeons should be multi-purpose content. There should be reasons to go to dungeons besides the primary boss objectives, like BRD in WoW had the vault, mc attune, the dark iron bar, the keys + shortcuts, the black forge, MC raid entrance, etc.
this kind of shit makes the world feel more immersive instead of an arcade routine.
>Borrowed power and endless grind for grind's sake makes the world immersive
I actually feel bad for you
Your response has literally nothing to do with my post.
>So you have no actual recommendation
I outlined an example in exceedingly clear terms for you in my post.
>I outlined an example in exceedingly clear terms for you in my post
No you didn't you put forward an argument for fundamentally changing the design of the entire game instead of changing specifically dungeons. Which is not what was asked of you.
>No you didn't you put forward an argument for fundamentally changing the design of the entire game instead of changing specifically dungeons.
No, I literally only talked about dungeon design in my post. You're illiterate, aren't you?
No, I'm not. Your argument was to fundamentally alter progression and the way items are obtained over the entire course of the game which fundamentally changes progression on a global scale. It doesn't solve the problem.
>Your argument was to fundamentally alter progression and the way items are obtained over the entire course of the game which fundamentally changes progression on a global scale.
No, I suggested that dungeons are given multiple purposes, and then I used BRD as an example.
>this kind of shit makes the world feel more immersive instead of an arcade routine
So you have no actual recommendation for the specific content in general and you've now shifted the scope of your argument to the entire design of the game. Very compelling anon. Please name a current mmo that does what you're proposing.
>current mmo
that's the problem, post WoW MMOs are all shit themeparks
Correct. But at least this shit themepark has an enjoyable story with it instead of budget thanos or whatever the frick warcraft is doing these days.
It's still a bad game. It just has a nice coat of paint instead of whatever the frick WoW is doing.
Name a good game
Guild Wars 2
Hows the general doing for that "good game"?
slow, mostly tolerable, with a fair amount of pro-charr/anti-charr shitposting
but hey, at least nobody's carved "remove the discord form the op" into their arm yet
Yea they just made a bot that exterminated the general from ever existing or ever even being mentioned on the entire board for how many years?
he asked how the general IS doing, not how it WAS doing
then again, why would I expect reading comprehension from the same morons that have spent almost a year debating the ethics of cosmic autists and their bird onaholes
Your general only recently revived itself, and even then, acknowledging it as slow because your game is SHIT and DEAD and unironically written by actual troons in the most literal sense of the term possible, is not exactly something to be proud of.
shut the frick up, Barry
How the frick does shitting on guild wars 2 make me barry? ArenaNet is fricking dogshit and they should all burn in hell for the travesty that gw2 is compared to gw1. Fricking moron.
>he asked how the general IS doing, not how it WAS doing
lmao, then why did he bring up something that happened 6 years ago that affected few people?
Are you really trying to revisionist history the 5 years your general spent plagued by a bot that would insert random conversation into the thread to fundamentally drown out any and all conversation and it didn't rest until sometime in 2019? Really? Do you think I'm dumb or something?
>mfw i found out i've been ERPing with the person who did that
>they hit all my kinks so i'm conflicted
Sengoku Rance.
The only good MMO's are themeparks. Sandbox MMO's can only be enjoyed by mentally deranged psychopaths who don't have the courage to harass/kill people in real life, so they do it in game.
Games are more fun when there's actual risk, not the safe space hugbox shit we get now where you just shut your brain off and play simon says
Sounds like you got bullied too hard. Chin up man, they can't hurt you anymore.
If the roulette system comes at an expense to the dungeon design it needs to be changed. Making the dungeon themselves drop the rewards would be an improvement. Having sidepaths that drop additional loot and tomes for going down them would incentivize exploration, like how rescuing castrum lacus litores hostages gave you more coins.
>Having sidepaths that drop additional loot and tomes for going down them would incentivize exploration
It didn't the first fricking time they did it why the frick do you think it would work now? They stopped doing it for a god damn reason you fricking newbie.
Don't listen to the normalgays this time.
Nobody should ever listen to autists or raidgays. You have the absolute worst opinions ever and you systematically kill every game you manage to latch your grubby little talons into. Because all you fricking care about is the raiding or the dungeons or whatever autism. You dont interact with any other aspect of the game, and you stamp your feet and piss yourself and shout when you are not directly catered to. You are a loud, petulant minority that should be thrown off a cliff and doing so would explicitly benefit any and every community you latch yourself onto.
Calm down dude. How would improving the dungeon design frick with the gold saucer, fishing, or partying at your friends house?
because then you get the spergs to ask for more, give a mouse a cookie etc
Because no amount of improvement will ever be enough for you and your ilk and you will scream and shout even if 90% of development resources were allocated to making you happy. You are a raidgay in disguise.
listening to the autists didn't make the system magically work
>It didn't the first fricking time they did it why the frick do you think it would work now?
Old dungeon design in FFXIV was awful too. The problem is that the devs can't design good dungeons, so they just make streamlined, chore based ones.
>Having sidepaths that drop additional loot and tomes for going down them would incentivize exploration
That doesn't incentivize anything other than making the dungeons longer
so whats the problem you have specifically:
>pull two mob packs
do you not want to have to pull mobs, ie they come to you in waves? do you not want mobs to be in packs? do you want to not have trash mobs to begin with? is two packs not enough?
>aoe them to death
is aoe bad? do you want CC to be necessary?
>fight piss easy boss
what makes bosses easy? what makes them hard? whats a good boss, and whats a bad boss? should bosses be harder?
>collect tomestones
should tomestones not exist? do you have a more functional system in mind?
>and leave
should i not be able to leave the dungeon? should i have to walk out of it instead of being ported out?
>is two packs not enough?
NTA but I miss doing megapulls in Castrum, the standard two packs just doesn't scratch that itch
You do know that WoW isn't the only other MMO in existence right?
ahh jagex i am so engaged rn
ahh nexon i am so engaged rn
ahh amazon i am so engaged rn
ahh bethesda i am so engaged rn
how much of a fanboy do you have to be to deny XIV dungeons are neutered to hell
I don't want a time sink. I want less formulaic dungeon design. Its been boring as frick for years.
They should have done this years ago.
Because Square went lol
lmao even, at the idea of reinvesting XIV's profits into itself
>Why did it take them this fricking long to start adding harder dungeons?
Because if a healer were to die then players might feel a moment of discomfort, and we can't have that.
>Why did it take them this fricking long to start adding harder dungeons? They should have done this years ago.
16 better be good
If they break FNC's curse I would gladly accept 14 shutting down tomorrow.
They had plenty of time before XVI was even set in motion moron. Instead of the shitty ass squadrons we could have criterion instead.
>They had plenty of time before XVI was even set in motion moron.
Yoshi got tapped in for 16 after Heavensward came out, lmao
And look at all the lame ass dungeons that came out since then.
all the particle effects make my eyes bleed. I think I understand why people complained about nioh 2 a little.
Tell me how old Sirius and Steps were like before the sheep started bleeting.
It wasn't difficult but it demanded that people do anything but treat the boss like a targeting dummy and as Heavensward release was approaching there were still a shitload of people walled at the fight who weren't going to be able to start the expansion unless they nerfed it.
>people are walled at steps of faith
>complain to nerf it before heavensward drops
>yoshida says gitu gudu
If he said that he would be my hero.
>You could miss the snars on steps of faith and even one drgaonkiller
Only after the first nerf
just reading this makes me feel like i'm being watched. fight or flight kicking in badly. do girls actually go to these?
its funny you think anyone in that is an actual woman.
As a girl, I don't trust these type of discords because either two things will happen, drama and/or they let in trans girls and it makes it weird since it's suppose to be a 'girls server' and be a 'safe space'.
>WoW players have never had a decent story and have been trained to ignore it so the only enjoyment to extract from the game is gameplay and/or difficulty
>FFXIV players play MSQ FOR the story so there's literally zero point for needlessly complex dungeons, that would just hamper players ability to progress the story
>WoWfugees finally get sick of the no lube fricking that Blizzard gives them and try FFXIV
>All of them story skip and level boost because they were trained wrong, on purpose
>"Bro why are these dungeons so simple, wheres the mythic+ system? I boosted for endgame"
If the story comes at an expense to the gameplay it is a shit game.
it's an mmo the gameplay is going to be shit
>b-but xyz mmo
is shit, mmo gameplay is shit
>it's an mmo the gameplay is going to be shit
This is what FFXIV players tell themselves to cope with the blatant issues the game has with its core gameplay lmao.
I've played Maplestory, Rift, Aion, World of Warcraft, Maplestory 2, Archeage, Elder Scrolls Online, Trove, Warframe, Destiny, FFXIV, and Dragons Dogma Online and the only one with good GAMEPLAY was DDO. You're a moron. Tab target is garbage and always will be.
>Tab target is garbage and always will be.
No, tab target games are the only mmos (or games in general) with good raids or large scale PVE.
>Anyone who thinks any MMO has good gameplay is braindead.
That isn't the case, obviously.
>That isn't the case, obviously.
Then please prove me wrong. I'd love to play a MMO only for good gameplay, but it doesn't exist.
>Then please prove me wrong.
Name a game with better large scale PVE combat than tab target mmos.
>I'd love to play a MMO only for good gameplay, but it doesn't exist.
Which large scale PVE games are you playing with better combat than MMOs?
>Name a game with better large scale PVE combat than tab target mmos.
Arma. That was easy.
>Arma.
Arma combat is more outdated than tab target, it's still using combat from Doom (1993).
Anon no don't talk to the "large scale pve" autist.
He has no argument, he made up the term to define mmo raids and nothing besides mmo raids matches his definition so he'll just argue in moronic circles for hours.
He's been doing this for weeks.
>he made up the term to define mmo raids and nothing besides mmo raids matches his definition
It's you claiming there are games that do raid combat better than MMOs. You obviously wouldn't compare mmo combat to FPS combat because they're so different there's no axis of comparison to make.
>This is what FFXIV players tell themselves
I've played every popular MMO, they all equally have shit gameplay. Anyone who thinks any MMO has good gameplay is braindead.
it's the truth
mmos are dogshit and always have been, at least back in everquest they had the excuse of it being to hang out with friends
there's a reason people stopped making mmos, because everyone realized they were shit and it was just blizzard jacking off their slaves with years of busywork while a few others tried to siphon some of them off
if 14 was a real game it would be infinitely better
You're right, let's all stop playing 14 bro and let's go get a heroic Jailor run in!
You go ahead man.
I've been enjoying the stuff we got with the 13th in 6.1 and 6.2, but I worry the conclusion will be unsatisfying since we already killed off two fiends.
>Dungeons are shit but its good that they are shit because they get done daily
bottom feeder players ffxiv has...
We can all agree XIV is shit because of the engine and its single digit iq fanbase.
The world and music is really neat.
it also has some cute characters like Nanamo Ul Namo.
I love seeing Gankerauthries sperging out about people enjoying their game.
>>>/vg/
Is she Priscilla?
All y'all complaining about the new content, except the best content. Player Versus Player
I resubbed about 1 month after it released. Got Crystal in 2 days. It's a joke.
The people who complain about the inventory are the same type of hoarder morons who give themselves infinite capacity in Fallout/Skyrim games and literally see nothing wrong with that.
well fallout and skyrim are shit games so yea there's nothing wrong with that
Literally all I wanted was basically map dungeons, but something you could just queue into anytime. And yes I mean in terms of rewards too.
GIMME REWARDS
REWARDS
I NEED ILVL
GIVE ILVL AND REWARDS
GIIIIIIVE GIIIIIIVE
NO NOT FUN, REWARDS
I NEED ILVL
You
>the virgin looter
>the chad fighter
Having new stuff to fight is always a blast
AIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEE
>ITT people discover that its basic human instinct to seek rewards for behavior and actions
lmao
there are rewards. salty morons that don't want to go into savage and thought they would get comparable gear from dungeons are laughably fricking moronic and should either be mocked until they leave the discussion or taken out back and shot.
If all the rewards can be gotten in like 1 day dont even fricking bother spending 4 months making the content.
you've done savage enough in one day to earn enough silver for everything that is unlocked by it?
Not me personally, but I have a friend who has already gotten the savage mount and is selling a second one.
Ok? And you think thats a large portion of players and not absolute poopsockers?
>and not absolute poopsockers
moron
If you're running savage enough times to farm 200 fricking coins in the time between now and release, you're a poopsocker.
you can't even bothered to do dungeons, yet have the guts to tell what poopsocking is.
try playing the game. Or any game, since this one is a joke
I am playing the game as we speak. I'm doing omicron beast tribes in between posts and sending my retainers back out.
that explains a lot on what you consider "game"
>noooOOOOOOO YOU HAVE TO PLAY WHAT I ARBITRARILY DICTATE IS GAMEPLAY IN ORDER FOR YOU TO ACTUALLY BE PLAYING ANYTHING AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH HELP ME ION HAZZIKOSTAS
Fricking have a nice day.
You are moronic and think your cookie clicker carrot activities is "gaming". And you go and shitposts about others "poopsocking".
Did I already told you are moronic and your opinions are invaid?
NTA, but he has a point. Most of the casual content in this game is on the same level of mental engagement as banal facebook games you can play for free, especially the content you listed.
The only real reason to play this game is for the raids and the story. If I want casual gameplay I can just play children's Mario titles and have a more interesting experience than any of the casual content FFXIV offers.
Have fun paying $15 a month to play what is basically an idle game you could get free on your phone lol.
>Nooooooo its not content unless its a dungeon or raid with dragons and explosions!
Anyone not good enough for criterion will just buy the rewards in a week when the prices plummet. So by making the rewards tradeable they removed the only small incentive. Well besides your "fun" of doing some boring single pull nondescript tunnel dungeon.
because people dont buy savage, extreme, and ultimate clears right
They do. And thats not content. It should be outright bannable to buy or sell it.
>savage isnt content
>ultimate isnt content
>extreme isnt content
>criterion isnt content
What the frick do you consider content you homosexual
an empty room with a treasure room that when you click on it you get all the Ultimate transmogs, a set of 650 ilvl gear and a nice big screen graphic that says "You are valid"
beast tribes and ocean fishing are the only real content. get with the program, chud.
lol nobody poopsock in XIV, there's no reason too
people absolutely poopsock in xiv. you're delusional if you think they don't. especially when trying to "worldfirst" shit.
People actually letting their pets die when raiding was fricking funny.
The people complaining about the rewards who haven't already cleared all the raids aren't clearing it in 1 day.
Both hardcore raiders and casuals are complaining because this offers nothing to them but a one off glamour and mount. Which they botched by making all the rewards tradeable anyway.
Yeah but that falls apart when you realize the "people" complaining would still be whining if you got 620 gear from the dungeon
If 620 came from the normal version it would be good. Criterion savage is unironically harder than most of this raid tier and warrants raid gear rewards.
>Criterion savage is unironically harder than most of this raid tier
lol
Literally the words of a 100 parsing god raider Xenosys Vex(tm). I'd trust his opinion on the content over anons.
I know you're being facetious, but Xeno and Arthars are symbolic of everything wrong with XIV's community
Xeno and Arthars are moronic, but at least they play the game, and that makes their thoughts more valuable to me than people who think roulettes are engaging.
ERP troon opinions are wild. Balmung's INN aren't the endgame.
go scream into the void about conitnuation some more, you bald c**t
You can personally dislike him, but his opinions on determining the difficulty of content is far more credible and valid than anons.
>guy who makes more money the more he whines
lol
If you actually did savage you'd know that's true. P5 is only hard because PF shitters suck at devour, P6 is a joke and P7 is 3 fricking mechs all the way at the end of the fight.
And yet in spite of that they were still harder than criterion by virtue of having actual damage output
>I should be able to run this dungeon that is mildly difficult and fully gear a character with free drops of gear that would normally take a week of tomes or a week of lockouts
No, moron.
timegating is pretty shitty and tomestones deserve to be outclassed but yeah it shouldn't be better than savage gear
They wouldn't do that because then it defeats the purpose of catch up patches. Upgrade materials for tome gear is literally the best thing they could do because there's only one 1 to get those during even number patches and it's the worst part of gearing up, like my group still needs a good amount of upgrades, meanwhile sometimes savage gear is hitting the floor because none of us need shit anymore.
the reward is the fun you have playing the game and the satisfaction you get from clearing. what's so confusing about that?
if you took up guitar, would you expect to get a medal every time you learned how to play a song? you people are mind broken.
Why are XIVgays so afraid of dungeoncrawling?
It interferes with their daily chores.
because if we want to do that we go do palace of the dead or heaven on high, or the next deep dungeon next patch.
They aren't, there is PotD and HoH in the game right now.
>They aren't, there is PotD and HoH in the game right now.
Those are banal procedural generated tiled rooms, not actual dungeons.
also nobody ever does anything beside floors 51-60
do you enjoy posting obvious lies on the internet
because 90% of them are absolute morons that still can't get past the IQ check in Ridorana and the other 10% are parsetrannies that hate anything that distracts from muh numbers and also can't beat the IQ check in Ridorana
I don't have time for dungeoncrawling!
I have 2 jobs, 4 wives, 16 kids and 24 pets, I can't waste time on my videogames!
But I still need my time to ERP
They don't want to actually play a video game, they just want the shinies and the pseudo-warm hug social environment.
>no Sil'dihn Arabian Nights x Roman gladiator mystic knight set
