can someone explain why the 'just play other games' argument gets touted so often in response to criticism of this game. you don't see this kind of deflection with criticism of any other video game on the market.
it's from a specific criticism of the game, not just any criticism. That being "I should have 40 hours of content every patch" which is unrealistic. If that is you that means at some point you've been "caught up" on content and need to take a break and play other games and let more content accumulate.
well no. i don't expect 40 hours of content every patch. however, i expect more than afternoon's worth of stuff. if i tallied up together all significant content in this patch (msq + alliance raid + dungeon + trial + ex trial + tataru's grand adventure) i'd get a total of 6 or 7 hours. because that's how long doing those things took me. i have different expectations of money-time proposition for a subscription-based game compared to a one-time payment game. xiv doesn't necessarily have to give me more story content or something, but it does need to provide me with content that is substantially replayable in a way that alliance raids and ex trials are not. i think this is a reasonable request of an mmo.
i'm eagerly awaiting fire emblem engage next week. i expect it will take me around 25 hours to complete. suppose fire emblem engage takes me 12 hours to finish and has half of the total chapters that games in the series usually have. i would be rightfully bothered by that situation. the money-time assumption was betrayed. the same would be true for a movie that cost 15 bucks but lasted 45 minutes rather than the standard hour and 30.
xiv as a subscription based title asks me for 13 dollars a month of sub. if i'm a smart shopper, i only spend 13 dollars to experience this patch's content, and with that kind of framing in mind, an afternoon's worth of stuff is suddenly reasonable. HOWEVER. xiv is a game that would prefer i pay monthly. square enix would objectively like it if i had reason to keep being subbed even when they offer nothing new. the complaint had is that xiv, perhaps more than other mmos, is exceptionally poor at giving you a reason to stay subbed. this complaint, that the game does not provide me enough of substance to do, does not come from a place of hate of the game - if i hated the game i would be glad it's over so fast. rather, i like the game. and i want more to eat. it's not an unreasonable complaint at all.
>xiv is a game that would prefer i pay monthly.
Yoshi explicitly tells you otherwise.
think about it - in what scenario does the director of a game tell anyone not to play it? a scenario where he knows there's not enough shit to do for most players. you would never see a director of a game that had ample content say this. ever. square enix's head honchos certainly don't want you to not be subbed. i agree that yoshi p said this, but it's a symptom of a problem rather than anything else.
The problem is that the only realistic way to engage players in a consistent and long term fashion is to offer grind and lots of it. People don't want grind. The people that want grind wouldn't be satisfied either way. Besides, telling people to not play all the time hasn't hurt the game's bottom line. Hard to argue with those results.
>mmo has no replayable or even enough conent to justify a subscription based model
>its okay because yoshi p said so
I understand you like the game but cmon now
>xiv is a game that would prefer i pay monthly.
That sounds like a personal problem. Most people are ok not doing that.
i'm not saying me. i'm saying the game/company/producers would prefer i pay monthly. i'm saying they don't give me enough of a reason to do so outside of 'support the game!'
and what does the other 99% of the playerbase do as a constant activity in the game? roulettes? every day?
>and what does the other 99% of the playerbase do as a constant activity in the game? roulettes? every day?
roulettes, maybe the weekly clear and ERP/modding. thats it. with modding being 90% of the playerbase. why do you think people that want to actually play the game go to JP servers?
>and what does the other 99% of the playerbase do as a constant activity in the game? roulettes? every day?
I'm collecting all of the Relics from every expac and doing treasure maps. I've gotten most of the achievements from PvP, but unfortunately people don't play RW, so I can't get my 1000 wins there. That has killed most of the time I've spent playing.
Outside of combat related stuff, I'm trying to get all the Triple Triad cards and do anything story related (have almost all the Custom Deliveries done, working on the Tribe Quests which I've put off for like forever)
>Has to use an ai chatbot to formulate his argument for him.
they've finally run out of threadly seethe subjects, realizing that everybody knows who they are since they dump the same bait every thread and have learned to stop responding, so now they turn to technology where biology has failed
>i like the game. and i want more to eat. it's not an unreasonable complaint at all.
He's only one man and he's in charge of two games.
If you're only going to engage with the endgame content once, the problem is you and perhaps MMOs aren't the genre for you. It's like someone saying "Well, it only took me four hours to play on every map in the latest CoD. Guess I'm out of content." The genre is about repetition and mastery, they just use trinkets as motivation for the smoothbrains who need rewards for doing anything.
The problem with this, however, is that XIV offers literally no incentive to do this.
If you're someone who does savage raids what reason do you have to ever do the 24-man more than once?
In previous expansions stuff like relics and wondrous tails would force you to diversify and keep this kind of old content alive, but ever since they introduced exploratory zones or whatever this has kinda died out.
>incentive
>in an MMO endgame
sounds toxic
>"I should have 40 hours of content every patch" which is unrealistic.
true, there should be 160 hours of content every patch
its a "get out of jail" free card for yoshi pee for delivering "content": that dies in less than a week
case in point: 6.3, which can be finished in 4 hours despite taking 4 months to come out and asking $13 for it
I don't want this MMO to be a chore simulator/treadmill like some other MMOs. The grinds here are all optional and that's a good thing, and the result is that you eventually run out of content and go play something else for a while.
That'd be a good argument if the content they put out every 4 months would keep you engaged for 2-3 weeks at least. But 6.3 died in 2-3 hours, while asking for a monthly sub
So you can see how this looks for someone that subs for the patch only to be told go play something else 4 hours in, after they paid their sub
>So you can see how this looks for someone that subs for the patch only to be told go play something else 4 hours in, after they paid their sub
Yea, I'd assume they wouldn't sub again and go play something worth their time. Fortnite looks amazing these days and its F2P. Same with Genshin. People would be happier if they played games they enjoyed rather than the opposite.
STOP POSTING THAT UGLY b***h,IM TIRES OF SEEING HER UGLY FACE IN ALL FORTNITE THREADS
>posting this ugly b***h
>not cute glue eating diaper girl
Fortnite cant even be compared to XIV without dwarfing its content updates. How is F2P shitting on a subscription game? I hate how XIV is speedrunning down the WoW path.
Unlimited zoomer money to fund it
And how did they get people to spend that much? You can't treat the Effect as the Cause.
>And how did they get people to spend that much?
By tricking children with AI and sex.
https://techcrunch.com/2022/12/19/ftc-fines-fortnite-maker-epic-games-520m-over-childrens-privacy-charges/
Cause Fortnite has made up to $25 billion in revenue since it launched 5 years ago. I repeat, $25 BILLION, with a 'B'. All of Square Enix is only worth $5-10 billion.
that design is fine and i would prefer ffxiv not to be a chore simulator (that it isn't is part of its appeal), but it's still over too quickly. a middle ground must be possible without alienating too many people. you can have your 4 hour main course, just also have some additional stuff that takes a few more days for people who want to spend more time. it's really not too much to ask.
to be clear, some of this problem would be alleviated if the ultimate was out right now. but it isn't. so we wait. that's what ffxiv is - a lot of waiting for something that doesn't last too long unless it's hardcore content.
>ultimate
1% of the playerbase engages in ultimates
the clear rate is around 10% without people who hide their achievements, but go on, parrot false information
10% of players don't clear ultimates, it isn't even close to that. UWU is quite easy and I still wouldn't put it close to that number.
You really underestimate the number of people who don't raid at all in this game and even ones that do a lot don't manage to clear the savage end boss either
Ultimatum: 16.2 % (28461 chars)
When I Ruled the World: 13.1 % (23045 chars)
https://lalachievements.com/rarity/achievement/global/
How does this tool pool said data? Especially seeing as it seems to only count less than 200k characters. If this requires people to enable things in lodestone or elsewhere you will find most casual players don't do this meaning the data being used for the comparison is not a proper representation of the playerbase
>23k people is 13.1% of the playerbase
???
https://steamcharts.com/app/39210
matches my data
That's a higher clear rate than I thought, I wonder how much higher it'd be if people had more confidence in themselves, 20% of 30%?
You know that data's only drawing data from people who are ALREADY interested enough in achievements enough to sign up for an external site about them, right? That's like running an income poll in the yacht club and using the results to conclude that the national average salary is $150k.
Not him, but aren't achievements public on Lodestone? It can probably gather that data.
It only has data from 175k characters, there is clearly something you have to opt in to
Could be omitting inactive characters. Either way, 26k is still a fairly significant number of clears.
23k*
The game has more than 175k active players anon, you are being a bit disingenuous here.
The problem lies in if it's something you have to enable or run on you will find only people with a vested interest enable this ability to be scanned or add themselves to an external website like this. Once you add on the majority of the playerbase who are casual with no interest in any form of raiding or don't go further than early savage/Ex you will find the number drops considerably.
UWU is an easy ultimate but you are fricking delusional if you think it has a 16% clear rate when probably not even 10% of people do anything form of ultimate content at all
I am not being disingenuous, chill out. Either way, there's a million of these sites that somehow obtain this data.
Honestly I'd be inclined to believe two facts here, one is that MMO statistics (player counts as listed by the developers) are usually bullshit, or not entirely accurate, second is while I have no direct experience with the new content, everyone bullshits about the difficulty, it's a common thing in general for games, so a clear rate higher than people think isn't really something that out there.
it is more like 350-400k active if you define it as "has a 90 that completes the current patch"
ultimate clear rates among "active players" are like 4-6% depending on DC
I wonder how high the percentage would be accounting for all DCs. Wasn't Japan once at 10% clear rate for hardcore content, that's almost as high as the percent of people who got the default ending in Elden Ring according to Steam statistics.
Now take out the paid clears/alt clears
also this
Devs already confirmed it is <1% of the playerbase that engages with ultimates.
There is additional side stuff for you to do though.
>PVP
>Beast Tribe Quest
>New custom delivery
>New treasure map world to do with friends
>New fishing spot
Ultimately the experience comes down to if you enjoy the game, or if you just enjoy doing something new. Because if you enjoy the game itself, there's plenty of stuff to do, even if you have a niche you like to stay in. If you just like doing new stuff, and decide to run the new raid once, do the dungeon once, do the trial + extreme once, do one match on the new pvp map, then an MMO isn't really the game you should be playing.
>with friends
You could have just left out new Treasure Map stuff. No need to pad out the list.
homie, it's an MMO.
I added with friends for that one because that's the only time I do treasure maps. If you want to do them without friends, you can find that shit on the Party Finder.
Hell, maybe you'll make some fricking friends to do that shit with.
While I would enjoy more content especially for endwalker I also prefer my online games not to be a second job. I want to be able to take breaks instead of turning into a braindead wow player that can only play one game.
This doesn't excuse the lack of content in endwalker though. Bozja provided some fun and grind and the replacement was a dull solo island and the new dungeon mode was over far too fast.
I quit the game due to the gear treadmill being really obvious and linear. I am fine with running low on stuff to do, it happens. If all the game is outside of raiding with people who probably hate you is weekly tome cap, it gets really boring and repetitive, but I think it's a problem with MMO design in general, WoW supposedly has the same issues with weekly currency/daily chores. I think MMOs are a dying genre, and I've moved on to stuff like MonHun. I had a lot of fun with FFXIV, but I can't stand its encounter design and progression anymore.
Well Yoshi P has openly told people to only play when they feel like it
Yeah, I think MMO players should just move on if they're really upset about it.
Speaking of WoW, the expansion cycle (hype, shilling, disappointment, it's garbage) is the most tiresome thing, and it's kinda pathetic how they can't just find something else to do.
It's the people that just stay sucked into the game and play it all the time
Because play a different game if you aren't having fun with it you fricking idiot, you want an argument about this so badly and the entire argument can be summed up with the answer you're too addled and Ganker addicted to accept.
WAHHH WHY CAN'T I CRITICIZE IT
WAHHH WHY DO THEY TELL ME TO REMOVE MYSELF FROM THE WHOLE PROBLEM
WAHHH WHY WON'T THEY ARGUE WITH ME
WAHHH WHY CAN'T I GET A FOOT IN THE DOOR TO ARGUE ABOUT IT
THE PROBLEM CAN'T POSSIBLY BE WITH ME, IT MUST BE THIS SHITTY STUPID DEFLECTING GAME
>noooo go away dont criticize
Troons shouldnt be using TF2 reaction images or Ganker. Frick off with this hugbox mentality homosexual. He's right that people deflect to other games rather than attacking arguments or my favorite, Barry. Kys troon.
>you don't see this kind of deflection with criticism of any other video game on the market.
You don't, but shouldn't you?
The game is currently known as a retirement home for people who burned out on other popular games. They like the low content and lack of grind for letting them spend time on things besides XIV.
People like to point to the interview where Yoshi says it's ok to take a break because there's other games etc etc and use that as an argument for the piss poor value per dollar the game provides per update despite commanding a box price + sub fee + cash shop.
This mentality is ruining the game for people that originally started playing because they wanted a proper MMO and not a single player + lobby simulator, and their philosophy does not reflect the actual reality of the game. ilevel treadmills, housing, fomo pvp, seasonal events, all are attempts at keeping people anchored to the sub fee in one way or another, instead of creating a genuine desire to stay subbed by providing a compelling world to explore with long lasting content where you have dynamic interactions with other players, enemies, and the world itself. If they were true to their word about not wanting to force people to log in every day they would drop all treadmill systems and subfee. For example, I could log in to GW2 right now for the first time in over a year and still have BiS gear, even though I haven't even bought the latest expansion. On top of this, XIV has recently begun retroactively destroying old content, making it even easier than it already was, just to accomodate npc companions - a gameplay element that would make more sense in a completely offline, one time box price game.
>People like to point to the interview where Yoshi says it's ok to take a break because there's other games etc etc and use that as an argument for the piss poor value per dollar the game provides per update despite commanding a box price + sub fee + cash shop.
then don't sub per update and do it when its worth your money
lmao
it would be impressive if yoshi p admitted that they don't do enough for the game just once. instead of retreating to the 'go do other shit' response, admit that for the outsized amount of profit the game makes for SE, not enough investment goes into it. just once.
no. because you seething about it 24/7 for months at a time is far more entertaining than any raid could be
enjoy your nothingburger anon.
You do realize he will get castrated and the game will suffer even more for it if he mouths off against Square like that, right?
How does gearing work in GW2? Your latest expac doesn't give gears with better stats?
At max character level ( which also doesn't increase ) there are 3 relevant gear tiers: exotic, ascended, and legendary
Exotics are basically entry level gear, you use them while you are working on collecting Ascended, full sets can be easily crafted or bought.
Ascended gear, stat wise, is only a 5% increase over Exotic, but is much more difficult to collect since you can't buy it directly on the market board. you have to do max level crafting, get lucky with chests or boss drops, and do certain achievements
Legendary has the same exact stat weights as Ascended, but the types of stats can be modified on the fly, so you don't need to carry multiple sets for different builds. They also have unique aesthetic properties like modifying the visual effect of your skills or giving you a glowing aura. These are the most prestigious items that require the most time / money to obtain.
Once you have the items you are set for life though, there is no perpetual gearing process
>This mentality is ruining the game for people that originally started playing because they wanted a proper MMO and not a single player + lobby simulator
Maybe you're right, but the fact is XIV devs have said themselves that they dont want to do grindy, fomo content that gives "gratification" and "value", and is fine with their current playerbase.
In my opinion I think the game is fine for what it is, and the devs dont try to chase 2 different playerbases like a bunch of devs do which usually killed their games and losing the goodwill of the original fans. The playerbase will naturally come if the devs are focused on the direction of their game, whether it be a large number or otherwise.
3 hours of content, a waste of 12 dollars what a fricking hack this team is. We used to get several dungeons in a patch now its just 1 and some nodding of heads in cutscenes with stale characters that are past their prime. I'm actually kind of pissed I resubbed for once. The game really feels like it is on maintenance mode. I hope they are at least using this wasted time on this game making another MMORPG
>Surprised a x.3 patch sucks.
First time, WOW friend?
All other X.3 patches had great content, 3.3 and 5.3 arguably being the best post expansion patches.
>All other X.3 patches had great content
Spoken as someone who never played the game prior to Endwalker.
>2.3
>Filler MSQ

>Beard Extreme:Titan-Egi Edition

Trying too hard or not trying hard enough, who can tell these days
5.3 is one of the worst solely because it had no Ultimate, and nothing added to make up for its lack of inclusion.
What the frick cope is this? Holy frick I was here day 1 for 3.3 and this is 10 tiers below it. Stop defending trash. THIS IS HOW YOU DO A PATCH https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2RMaN8U3ots

>How did you like Patch 6.3 and its dumplings?
2/10. Mega flop topped only by 3.1
I'm nowhere near it yet, but I do have something to comment on.
>Finally get through the Stormblood 4.0 content
>Doma is fine, I hate both Sadu and Magnai but there's nothing wrong with the other characters.
>Gyr Abania is just bland, there's nobody interesting here but it's also mostly not offensive
After hearing for years about how shit SB was I'm kinda shocked, it's nowhere near as good as HW but it's not some horrible sin against the game like I heard. It's just not as personal because it doesn't spend as long building up a smaller cast of characters. I didn't even hate Lyse, she's a moronic generic action heroine but that just makes her boring instead of the miserable black hole I was told she was.
It was always over exaggeration after the high of Heavensward and then Shadowbringers overshadows it too
SB is a mountain valley between the mountain of HW and mount everest that is ShB. its elevavation is still high but in comparison to the expansions before and after, it feels like a very low point
It's fine. People exaggerate how 'bad' it is. Its just very mid compared to HW. You can just really feel they ran out of time and tried to cram too much into the vanilla content. The climax where you go back to ala mhigo was rushed as hell. I did like the post patch stuff.
The food always being so lovingly animated never fails to get a chuckle out of me though.
its not funny, cause thats where all the budget went
Good.
>Bread has more polys, better model and texturing than a fricking character
Japs are so fricking weird about food
It's great, isn't it?
Post patch content reminds me of the slogfest that was the walking dead season 2 where they're just going WHERE's THE GIRL?? for 12 episodes.
Im waiting for the big hook. But it's not coming. The villains motivations are dumb
damn

If Square-Enix sucked the collective wiener of WAR any further, they would be shitting smegma-saturated diarrhea
Nitpick, but I hate that the new Golden Saucer mount is 4 million MGP instead of just 3 million. Jesus Tapdancing Christ...
Yeah, 6.3 is a disaster patch
>DRK's still have ONE fricking healing ability that shares a CD with a damage cooldown and they just buffed WAR to now heal the party as well
It's almost fricking funny but I refuse to play any other tank out of bitterness. The rage fuels Frey.
So Merycida is 7.0 probably so what do you want the zones to look like
I want:
>A bay area (probably our landing area once the expansion begins) with a little port, probably would have to be one of the rare places where eorzeans and such can trade with Meracydia, tropical look with a cool underwater area too.
>One zone in the mountain areas, more vegetation and maybe a river running through. Think 1.0 Ishgard when it wasn't covered in snow because now the game is lacking in a region like that.
>Savanna area with big fricking rock in the middle. Dragon kangaroos and koalas are here.
>One vast, dry wasteland + desert with an XBOX FRICKHUEG allagan ruin towering over the horizon at one of the edges of the map so high it actually can cover the whole area in shadow at the appropiate time of day. Imagine Azys Lla but crashed on the ground. Add a little oasis somewhere to have a local population.
>The inside of said ruin, except it's more open than the inside of Azys Lla is because it's gotten a ton of holes in it across the centuries and also everything looks old, dusty and off.
I want the sapient tree people you hear about in Azys Lla and centaurs to still exist.
One zone needs to be a mad max wasteland full of bandits in Hodge-podge broken allagan tech armor.
Also a Koala Beast Race and a boss fight that's a boxing Kangaroo.
Maybe a full Aussie VA's.
This patch unironically made me go get some bao yesterday.
Finally. BLU80 when?
6.4 or 6.5, they only specified "not 6.3"
>literally only brought enough buuz for Zero, and himself, when Alphinaud was helping too

Bros, how the frick do I use my Instant portraits? I made my portrait for my DRG, but it's not showing up in duties. What gives?
Have you changed gear since last opening it?
I have not.
And the little thing in the corner says I have it enabled for my Instant portrait so I dunno what it's doing.
>Just press 25-30 different button in the same sequence over and over again while dodging orange circles
That's it.
That is all the gameplay in this game is.
It's not exciting or cool or even fulfilling.
How is this any different from posting the same sequence of letters over and over in every thread while dodging bans
You weren't supposed to point this out, king
It's a gross simplification.
Maybe it's different now, but the gameplay is usually, look away, break tether, group together to soak, go to this location for dives, and run around the arena in a circle or make an X-like formation.
XIV's raid stuff is just a dance recital.
you do it until you get it right then you do a performance and win.
>press button
>do thing
>wooooooooow
Summed up every video game ever
Post your clears anons, I'm waiting
you could literally say the same thing about almost any game
this is the worst critique i've ever heard
what do you do in super mario bros?
not him, but lets compare to a simplified version of a 2005 raid in a different MMO
>Event 1: boss spawns randomly from killing trash in the zone. he curses random people that need curing or they get instantly killed
>Event 2: pull boss down a tower while rooting adds to kill them, offtank 2 other mobs while keeping them pointed away from the raid
>Event 3: Phoenix Wright boss. Have a dialogue with 3 NPCs and find out how they betrayed each other while clearing out waves of trash and finding evidence against one or all of them.
>Event 4: Boss chases you around the map and you need to trap him in his own traps to kill him.
>Event 5: Cure lycanthropy by lowering boss' hp to under 10%, then healing and curing the boss until they are free
>Event 6: Fight vampire hunter who swaps weapons mid-fight. Boss can unequip your weapons and throw destroyable objects at the raid
>Event 7: Fight vampire boss while sneaking around the castle and collecting bane weapons to use against him
>Event 8: Fight off 15 waves of enemies while singing songs alongside a skeleton bard
>Event 9: Fight 8 minibosses and a vampire lord while using class-specific limited-use items to counter specific mechanics
Not all of that is doable within the XIV infrastructure, but the game actively limits its own potential by focusing on DPS races and positional mechanics as the end all be all of the content.
>Dumb casual who only does casual content for dumb casuals
I feel the buildup towards 7.0 is not really about the Void, but about the Lifestream itself.
Think about it. At the end of 6.0 we had those weird references to 'the Snake of the Underworld which eats its own tail'. A representation of the Lifestream.
But then, the 3 main stories we are dealing with in the patches, are also related with the concept of the Lifestream, and the cycle of life and death.
>The Voidsents wanting to die so they can be reborn
>The Twelve which are obviously the Guardians of the Lifestream, being settled in a nexus of Aether
>Pandemonium being about cheating death, and now appearing in the Underworld itself.
It will all converge in: 'Something went wrong with the Lifestream. AT UNIVERSAL SCALE.'
Perhaps because of what Meteion did, wrecking so many worlds and their lifestreams, which we now know are part of a bigger cosmic lifestream.
Of course, this would be the next main plot for the future expansions. And we can start the investigation of what's going on in Meracydia.
I like the idea, the lifestream seems like a slightly underutilized part of the game.
I've always hated the lifestream. Shitty reincarnation system where everything that makes you who you are is scrubbed as soon as you die, it's like final death only with recycling of raw materials.
I think it's the perfect reincarnation cycle so long as you keep your consciousness and don't just die for good and get your aether recycled. You're effectively living infinite lifes and the adventure will never really end and it will all feel fresh and new every time.
Until the heat death of the universe and then everyone will be fricked.
>so long as you keep your consciousness
You don't. Reincarnations are explicitly not the same person. You only even have certain traits carry over if you're an Ancient shard, and that's more like base predilections than a solid identity or 'self.'
>Reincarnations are explicitly not the same person.
They explicitly are. Your memories are wiped, but not scrubbed, they remain imprinted into the unique color of your soul.
>Life stream is fricked because Yshtola fricked it with her fake deaths
Soon
She cant escape the reaper
She only went to the Source's lifestream once and the First's lifestream once too, and someone had to invent the spell first somehow.
You've made me wonder if Moenbryda and Minfilia tried to greet her while she was in there though.
>'Something went wrong with the Lifestream. AT UNIVERSAL SCALE.'
Daily reminder that the Sound came from WITHIN the planet, and the Song of Oblivion (which nobody heard), is a red herring.
Man do I hate Zero, whoever wrote this character is a fricking hack
It was this homosexual, Ishikawa stepped down from writing expansions and now this guy is in charge of 7.0
I'm willing to give him another life-changing event if he doesn't git gud soon.

And yet it's the quest that sets up Meteion all the way back in Heavensward...
>No you don't get it, the ala mhigans need to get away with murdering a national hero and my father because we might try to fight them in retaliation.
It was so fricking stupid. It actually made me slightly embarrassed of playing highlander.
4.0 BRD was pretty gay, and not the good kind like 3.0 BRD was.
Those MSQ patches he did are some of the worst in the game after ARR.
What did XIV players do to WoW, how come all of the WoW players are doomposting this patch like its their last resort?
>WoW players doomposting FFXIV
It could be jealousy.
they just had that floppiest expansion ever. They're mad as frick. I mean, look at their 'game'
>errupts
Because they're bigger homosexuals than graha frickers.
It really is sad the state the Ganker threads have been in because of shitposters.
I remember staying up for HW patches and getting live translations with the bros when the ERP discord started taking over /vg/
Sadly we'll probably be stuck with schizos from The Site, until EoS.
FFXIV has long been the go to game for WoW refugees. It's been pretty common practice to shit on Blizzard while praising FFXIV on their way out as a dig at something Blizzard did.
>What? Ion doesn't want us flying until the end of expansions? FFXIV's new expansion let's you fly from the start! Guess I know where I'M going to be spending MY time!
>Pfft, Tallstrider racing at the Darkmoon Faire? Hastily released the same week as Chocobo racing? Pathetic Blizz (Although to be fair this one did have the stink of desperation to it.)
>My character doesn't mean anything in WoW's story. I'm just some murder hobo here. Yeah I'm killing 20 boars, but WHY am I killing 20 boars? I'm going to go to FFXIV where the story is about ME!
>This community is so toxic and mean. I'm going to go to FFXIV where everyone is NICE!
Shit like that. The average WoW player, especially those on forums, have always done this. When WoW isn't going their way they make threads saying how they're going to go to some other game to spite Blizzard when in reality they just want WoW to start doing some things like other games do. They don't actually want to leave.
And every time you get a flood of
>"Yes I agree!"
and
>"Yeah I played that game and it's just not for me. It sucks for XYZ reason"
It doesn't even need to be FFXIV specifically. FFXIV is just a stand out because it's been going strong for so long that it's now the frequent scapegoat for this tactic, but even back in the days of BC people would bring up any number of other MMO's and potential WoW killers they were going to go to because they wanted people to pay attention to their complaints.
They have to. Their expansion was just released last month and its already forgotten
there is no such thing as WoW expansions anymore. Only Raider io expansions. The game has no story, music, theme etc. Its just a generic cartoon arcade game requires your resume to be upkept each season.
>What did XIV players do to WoW
NTR'd them.
My guy, I love playing xiv and I'm doomposting this patch. There's nothing wrong with finding faults and criticizing your own game
So do you think the doomposting was justified or not? There's barely any new content, was it correct or not?
its simple really, this game has been talked about on Ganker for some time, but only small threads on Ganker (we don't talk about /xivg/) that the jannies usually pruned after 5 or 6 posts
around the time of late 8.3.5 when prepatch for Shadowlands had been released and the only real content was level squish and ability prunes people got bored. This wasn't helped by Blizz pushing back the released of SHL several times and not really offering any compensation to go with it.
Then I guess someone told him about it and Asmongold subbed to XIV while waiting for SHL to come out. This brought a horde of new players to the game who originally only played WoW. The influx was so massive that Endwalker was and several other features had to be delayed to fix the servers.
From there WoW fans got mad that all their ecelebs were switching over to XIV, basically just jumping on the Asmon grift train, and making videos about it. This only got worse when Shadowlands was terrible and everyone shat on it to the point where one eceleb Preach left WoW for good in the early days of Castle Nathria - the first raid released for SHL. What followed from him were more videos shitting on blizzard while saying he would never return to WoW (look how well that turned out) which sparked a few more ecelebs to ride the grift train with him.
Asmon still continues to tease his return to XIV after getting hard filtered by Alexander Savage but who knows if it will happen, and other ecelebs still occasionally pull a Preach and say
>this is the final straw Ion, I'm NEVER coming back to WoW
>1 week later
>My return to World of Warcraft, what's changed?
barry and his followers spamming Ganker, /wowg/, and /xivg/ doesn't help either. And yes I did mean to say "his followers", Barry really only spams Ganker, /wowg/ is a pretender who doesn't exhibit the same schizo behavior as the person he's pretending to be.
Strawman.
There really arent as many wowfugees in XIV as you cultists would like to believe.
DIdn't they say Ishikawa was writing a questline this patch? Did I imagine that?
alliance raid was mid. Better than nier shit, nowhere near as fun as the stormblood alliance raids were.
the new EX is one of the worst EX they've ever made. A complete boring nonfight, with one moronic gotcha mechanic vomit, which is made even worse by it having an absurdly easy stack variant and a super punishing spread variant.
the new pvp map is complete dogshit, literally all of the bad elements of the wind map + all of the bad elements of the fire map combined together.
MSQ was so fricking shit that I started skipping cutscenes. Zero is a complete dogshit character.
Zero interest in doing the Ultimate in 2 weeks, never touching another ultimate after wasting my life clearing DSR and having to deal with moron DPS that didn't want to hold and greeded pointless DPS.
Sophia Unreal is unironically the best thing in the patch. It's pathetic how much more fun Sophia is than the new EX. New EX literally has zero healing or tank mechanics the entire fight. Like zero raidwide damage, and apparently you can just shield a DPS through the single 2 target buster. Zero mechanics going on in the new EX outside of the mechanic vomit after adds and the shitty limit cut. Compare that to Sophia which is very interestingly paced, and surprisingly fun to tank because there are a ton of swaps that you can't just shirk though.
You did pick up the frame kits from the pixie, qitari, dwarf and elephant tribes right
Anon you are bloodsworn right
I have the vath and snake ladies maxed out, do I get anything?
nope
Wait, those are new? I just got Dwarves to Bloodsworn tonight and grabbed them from the shop thinking they were put in with 6.1.
>Namazu dont have any yet
i do have all beast tribes maxed out, but I didn't know they had gotten frame kits
Cool, thanks for the heads up.
Sexooo
Finished the patch msq - maybe I'm just bullshitting myself but did some of the early cutscenes seem oddly empty to anyone else? Like until camp broken glass you don't see ANYONE else about that isn't one of the main characters.
I liked the new dungeon, boss 2 we had a full wipe which was interesting.
I noticed it at Tertium
that subway was fricking empty
Nothing describes love better than warming up your girl's cold feet after a long day in the snow

Why is YoshiP so likeable, Is it because he's a genuine sperg?

Lmao you're a moron. Koji and Soken are lovable spergs. Yoshi is just play it safe businessman that understands basic PR.
sooo did they add anything cool to island sanctuaries this patch
>pic

Holy kek you're right. Saving this.
Ganker gets a lot simpler when you learn how much "i am an epic internet bigot" shitposting is just rooted in phrenology
the kinds of people that become "body language experts" in the police, or think they can determine a lie over the phone (no visual tells or even any prior verbal context) sheerly through tone-of-voice
That's not a man ha-

Jesus frick
Viera have always had extremely long hands, XIV is the only place where they don't.
Now this image is ruined for me.
I wouldn't have noticed it either if the other guy didn't say anything, people need to keep these noticed horrors to themselves and live with it instead of ruining it for everyone

Even 'gods' can carry on the soul of a Convocation member.
moron
It's now a possibility that they're transformations themed after the Convocation members, instead of concepts or primals or even auspices. Transformations are also perfectly capable of manifesting primal-like abilities, see Elidibus in 5.3
moron. Absolute moron. They even spell it out for you and you still completely misunderstand everything.
>Transformations are also perfectly capable of manifesting primal-like abilities, see Elidibus in 5.3
That's not a transformation, buddy. Elidibus IS a primal.
The entire thing is frankly a shitshow and we have no idea what he really was.
>blow apart his primal form
>his child self is suddenly there
>his soul is later trapped in the tower
He matches being a Primal mantling way more than a Primal directly.
>Elidibus summons himself into Zodiark's heart
>the heart leaves the main body but remains a primal and takes the shape of Elidibus
>after the sundering Elidibus starts replacing the Zodiark faith with WoL faith
>this makes him into a WoL primal
>Elidibus summons himself into Zodiark's heart
Well, no. We saw with Fandaniel that the person being Zodiark's heart is basically wearing him like a suit. So if Elidibus was ejected from the heart he should have just been himself, which is consistent with how he was always counted among the Unsundered. But with everything fricked, and Zodiark's purpose being derivative of his own will, he went on to mantle the concept of salvation and become the WoL Primal.
>Well, no. We saw with Fandaniel that the person being Zodiark's heart is basically wearing him like a suit.
Because the core was empty, yeah. He was missing his soul. It's just like possessing a dead person.
>So if Elidibus was ejected from the heart he should have just been himself
He was himself. It was Elidibus's soul taking the shape of Elidibus again, but he was also still Zodiark's core, so he had the traits of a primal. Like how Louisoix was both the primal Phoenix and still also himself.
His child self was also a primal, but his aether was then absorbed into the crystal tower the same way we stuff ascians into white auracite.
No primal has ever behaved like that. Is it like a separate primal or what? It's clearly behaving like a soul.
I took the whole ending as being a reveal where this great warrior of salvation primal was revealed to just be the cope of a child in way over his head that had long suppressed his own identity underneath that persona because he couldn't confront his loss.
Saying "well actually it really was just a Primal of the concept of salvation" doesn't match because at the end he shows personal memories and emotions that don't connect to the Primal's concept. No other pure Primal has ever gone OOC and gotten weepy like that.
>Like how Louisoix was both the primal Phoenix and still also himself.
Yeah that's about how I see it as well.
>No primal has ever behaved like that. Is it like a separate primal or what? It's clearly behaving like a soul.
Primals have souls. This was confirmed in Endwalker. When they are summoned they remember their previous incarnations because it's the same soul.
>ackshually I know all about this because I came across it in a book on it some undisclosed period of time ago
Haha, that's our Yshitla
Literally all she's talking about is directly related the Scion's fricking primary purpose when they were founded of understanding and stopping primals.
I still don't understand how Elidibus sacrificed himself to become Zodiak's core and still existed as an unsundered Ancient. Should he have be either super fricking dead or a part of Zodiark?
Because he left Zodiark while the two factions were debating so he could play his role as Emissary for his friends again. Hydaelyn fought with an empty shell.
It seems like much less of a sacrifice to become a primal's core when you can walk out and take a stroll whenever as opposed to the people who actually had to permadie to summon it, what the frick
It's all but confirmed now that The Twelve are the Ancients who helped summon Hydaelyn with Venat. Even Krile speculated it during the quest.
It was right there this whole time
>frick and impregnate sister
>turn back time
>never happened
Totally legal btw.
>play malera

Absolutely bamboozled
I called this right after EW launch. Auspicegays are in shambles.
someone with irl wayback machine: did they just add those people to elpis?
No those quests were there since 6.0
>same hair colour and skin colour
I'm guessing their soul managed to somewhat resist the sundering and they became AUHispanic like the four lords?
The gods are the people who helped Venat summon hydaelyn
No they arent. The people who helped venat got their soul UTTERLY burned, so they cannot be reborn and are forever lost to the lifestream.
the watcher is a concept made from venat. Her fake "follower friends" are guardian zodiark on every another shards. the watcher in 13th got BTFO golbez
You homies have no idea how deep the rabbit hole goes.
>the legendary elementals are just some pet project of a literal who ancient
>also the twelve are literal who ancients
Worse than Allagans
>we made these concepts flawed as a joke
Every lore reveal since Shadowbringers has felt like that bit in Naruto where they talk about how literally every aspect of the world we see in the show originated from the same two guys.
>also the twelve are also pet projects of literal who ancients
FTFY
Looks like a hamburger to me, cowboy.
So what do we need them to say in the last alliance raid quests to explain the similarities between those Elpis NPCs and the Twelve (The Thirteenth?!)?
>So what do we need them to say in the last alliance raid quests
Hey WoL, would you like to be the Final Fantasy 14?

Is he gonna end up being a tragic figure kinda mirroring FFIV? I still think he's not gonna be the "bad guy" of this arc. I'm also huffing the hopium for Zeromus because I need that theme in XIV. I also hope Soken appreciates the audio bouncing between your ears in that one segment of the music. Something the pixel remaster version completely eliminated.
Honestly I'd rather have the Pixel Remaster version than this shitty mix from the DS remake.
The pixel remaster version sounds better overall but my autism can't get past them completely erasing that cool audio effect.

ok but where are we gonna get a flying dorito?
Thirteenth version of Allagans made it and it just so happens to still be intact and functional.
but they got void nuked before a civilization like that could emerge
right?
RIGHT?
Funny thing to note there.
So the Crystal Tower would be the heart of Allag, right? And at the top there's a Void Gate, one that just so happens to lead directly into the Domain of the single strongest Voidsent ever encountered.
The 13th's Allagans (or at least their higher ups) most likely became what's now the Cloud of Darkness.
>And at the top there's a Void Gate, one that just so happens to lead directly into the Domain of the single strongest Voidsent ever encountered.
It doesn't "just so happen" to lead there. That gate was constructed for the exact purpose of letting Cloud of Darkness into the world. It was the arrangement Xande made with her.
Yeah but I like my idea more.
Not like we're gonna see CoD again anyways.
Kinda sad because she isn't dead and she's pissed.

They better fricking do this before the raid story is over.
Has your chosen god even been used in the history of XIV? All it used to do was just dictate your starting Elemental resistances, before...I think 4.0 was what finally removed them after having been in there since 1.0.

where the frick is all the nophica porn?? it's been days
It's been one day. Also you forget what game you're playing, I saw yet another Angelise Reiter pic before I saw the first lewd Nophica pic.
You're probably going to have to wait weeks, Anon. It took about a year before Ryne to start gaining any real traction, Y'shtola didn't start getting regular porn commissions until around Heavensward for that matter. Venat and Meteion have been a thing for about a year now and they barely have anything.
Like with WoW, most people do porn of their OC's over established characters.
Why is golbez autistic about you
Because he's going to be literally (YOU)
does he even know you exist?
Because he is the 13th's Azem shard.
This, the moment he lost is the moment he renounced his companions and therefor forsook azems greatest strength.
azem's greatest strength is.. well, infinite strength.
The same reason Zero seems to despise Zenos and what he did to her but is also obsessed about what he thought and felt.

A-At least we're eating better than Duskwightbros
>the God's have changed due to the worship and prayers they recieve
>first thing Scions think of is Dynamis
>not how Primals are also effected by worship and prayers
Times have changed.
Primals are only affected by worship and prayers in the moment they're created though.
Elidibus is a massive point against that, he transferred his worship to the Warrior of Light myth since Zodiark is a dead end.
Well you and G'raha determined they weren't Primals after Aglaia.
How many fricking times do we have to tell you kids we aren't Primals?
I thought that was the same
only now did we get to put a name to it
It's a different process.
Primal SUMMONING, although it can depend on Faith and Prayers, is all just about the summoning aspect. Because Primals in the end are just a modified version of Ascian aether constructs.
Dynamis on the other hand is more... dynamic. And so, Faith, Prayer, EMOTIONS, affect the being in real time. Unlike a Primal, which once is summoned, that's all what you get.
>Zero just rips the dumpling in half on reflex after Jullus just does it to show her what it is

so are they coming back? is 7.0 gonna be adventuring on an unknown shard with golbez and friends + Zero?
I still believe we can save the thirteenth
Sounds like fun.
>when a Voidsent dies on the Source they now permanently die
So they just going to retcon all of HW's Void raid story now?
Why bother creating the Nullstone to cancel a Voidsent's contract if all they have to do is just shoot the Voidsent in the head?
None of the Voidsents we are dealing now are under a contract. They are just coming through as normal, like happened with other Voidsents we fought in the past as random mobs.
I haven't played MSQ yet, Zero doesn't use her memoriate spell on Cagnazzo and Rubicante?
You kick their asses on the source, making her memoriate power unnecessary for them
their essence would still be dragged back to the 13th
if you remove the barrier between both worlds, they would effectively become one so there was nowhere else to go no don't mention Rubicante and Cagnazzo, I dare you
Don't you remember what Y'shtola explained about voidsent who get summoned not really being there in their own body, but just occupying something else? When they die they just go back to the Thirteenth.
Even Voidsent who enter the Source without summoning still have to take over a host body in some form. This has been in the lore ever since 2.0.
Even then, they wouldn't have a body left in the Thirteenth to go back to once they die. In Y'shtola's explanation, you quite literally see that voidsent that get summoned just drop unconscious on the spot until they go back.
So Voidsent who are summoned to the Source don't actually die, but ones who manage to get here by their own do die? Why?
Because every creature is composed of their body and their soul. When voidsent get summoned, only their soul is being called (literally what happened to the Scions in ShB when you stop to think about it, only since they had no body substitute it was far more dangerous thanks G'raha). Their body stays on the Thirteenth, immobile. They get put into a suitable body (in the example it was statues) and if that is destroyed, they just get ejected back into their real bodies, in the Thirteenth.
When they cross entirely via portal, they're bringing both body and soul, so they can die for good. They're also in the Source, which means they go into that lifestream instead of the Thirteenth's shitty broken one that leaks souls back into the world.
>This has been in the lore ever since 2.0.
Hence all the Gargoyle statues in Amdapor Keep.
They weren't summoned, they explain the mechanics in 6.1. Stop speed reading and put down the fricking phone.
>was specifically said through ever expac that Voidsent of great power can't enter the Source without being summoned
>even then Voidsent needs a sacrifice of some manner so they can hold a corporeal form
>Voidmages of Mhachi specifically used a young girl as the sacrifice for Scathach as to bind her powers so she would be more manageable
>Cagnazzo and Rubicante just pop into the Source no problem
Why is nobody talking about this?
It's dragon's eye magic I aint gonna explain shit
Just turn your brain off :^)
and Rubicante just pop into the Source no problem
Cagnazzo and Rubicante gorged themselves on a dragon's Aether. On one of the first brood, no less.
We have seen time and time again that the older a dragon is, the more powerful it is. And the more powerful it is, the more having a piece of it can allow someone to do.
If an elder wyrm's eyes can turn a withered old man into a 15 foot tall king giga chad along with his entire contingent of knights, or allow a dragon's spirit to warp the shit out of a single dragoon to the point that the dragon can warp his body into his old Draconic one, it's not a stretch to assume that a pair of strong voidsent can show up on The Source with that power. Even something as simple as an elder wyrm's scale can be fashioned into a powerful warp that counters tempering.
I wouldn't be surprised if we find out later that the only reason we were even able to travel to the first without losing our bodies like the others back in Shadowbringers wasn't because G'raha finally got the spell right or because of the Blessing of Light or because we're just so damn strong and cool, but because we have a direct connection to Midgardsormr even while he slumbers.
The reason voidsent can't just casually cross unless they're very weak is because of aetherial density. The power of the eye should make it far more difficult for them to cross over. Cagnazzo used the eye to tear open a Crystal Tower tier voidgate in Lapis Manalis, but what did Rubicante do? They never explain it. He just blows his way through a small sealed voidgate and expect you to rush to the trial before you stop to think about HOW.
Azdaja has two eyes and half the job was already done. The only difference is that Rubicante didn't cross over carrying the other eye because they wanted the attention to be on Garlemald.
>The only difference is that Rubicante didn't cross over carrying the other eye because they wanted the attention to be on Garlemald.
Wouldn't have fricking mattered at that point with his poor-ass timing blowing open the portal well after returning from Garlemald.
I like to think Golbez and Rubicante were standing right on the other side of Cagnazzo's portal trying to peek through and see what was going on right down until he died, then they were like
>Damn, lucky him, he gets to reincarnate.
>Yeah...
>...
>Aren't you supposed to be on the other portal right now?
>OH SHIT
Alternatively, it might be yet another sign that the Thirteenth is moving slightly slower than the Source and it took Rubicante much longer to reach his spot than they anticipated.
they both came over from the garlemald void portal you moron.
and Rubicante just pop into the Source no problem
They're strong enough with Azdaja's aether to create a breach large enough for themselves.
Something like CoD would require an absurdly high amount of aether to punch her way through like they did.
Dragon eye dummy. It was specifically stated and compared with the Allagans using the Crystal Tower to generate enough aether to open a gate big enough for the Cloud.
If your main body get sent over you can die perma
Tresh3D updated on Kemono.party.
Trying to catch up gear-wise cause I wanna try the new Ex, currently using the Abyssos set + Relic, what should I be getting first with my tomes (as a tank)?
zero is totally killing this storyline
instead of actually getting to hang out with all these characters i like we're spending every cutscene babying this character with quite literally 0 (zero) personality and painfully dragging out her predictable "learning how to be human" plotline
It can't be helped. We're two patches deep with her and no death flags yet. Zero ain't going anywhere.
Well duh, she's essentially our new main cast member, and will probably be going with us, Krile and who the frick knows who else adventuring in 7.0
It really will be SB 2.0, fricking hell
at that point she will have changed back to PLD and reclaimed her original name: Cecilia
>DRK used to be associated with scythes in XI
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
fug, good catch
makes sense. she's the dumbass character who can be talked at for explanation of lore.

IT'S A FRICKING SUBWAY STATION
THERE'S TRAINS AND SHIT
>spending sweet, sweet ceruleum on running the trains
lol
lmao even
Garleans can teleport with magitek. You know those teleporters in Dzemael? Those are magitek teleporters for Garleans. The aetheryte there is hooked up with one of them.
Those are for the conscripts, not the purebloods
Jullus just fricking unironically going "Sure, you don't need to help, you can just stay there and watch us all die if you feel like it" without even at least bringing up that she should also defend herself, or at the least if that fails that she should pay for the buuz, pissed me off too, yet another example of a character acting way fricking dumber just so Zero's cutscenes can work at all.
I was flabbergasted at this, could you imagine under normal circumstances just shrugging your shoulders good golly that's heckin valid and understandable when some mercenary frick says they won't help you in the face of complete slaughter?
Thinking about it, considering his first reaction was to assume Zero was a Scion or at least one of the Scion's allies it's fricking wierd he didn't ask what the frick is her deal when he knows perfectly well all Scions are goody two shoes that help anyone in need.
He has the power of logic, and call tell she's essentially just someone they hired for a job
>cagnazzo is pronounced Kanyatso
I feel kind of betrayed by the Hyadain song now
it's how its presumably meant to be pronounced in italian
His name is Italian.
Eyyy we gonna get some lasagna, capice?
It's more "kahg-nyaht-so"
They're all Italian demons that come from the Divine Comedy
You get more content from a single patch than games give in 10$ DLC.
If you are a casual you can just wait for more patches before you sub.
game has plenty or reasons to re-sub if you are hardcore and like more challenging content.
What if the 7.0 adventuring party are all reps from classic FF? We already know Krile will be featured heavily in 7.0 and we have this current shitshow going on with Golbez and notCecil(Zero).
I don't give a shit about the rotation, but is PLD buffed or nerfed in terms of damage?
is spamming casual cc the fastest way to get series shekels?
yeah but frick that noise
if this game dont get an engine rework/upgrade on 7.0, is basically doomed
Does anyone even bother with the sightseeing log? What's the fricking point of that shit, not like the game has good looking vistas or anything
(you)
You get cool paintings to use in housing. Also minions from 2.0 sightseeing.
No glam or mount?
Who's PoV is this?
Hildy I believe, it's from his ARR quests
arr ones are cool puzzles to solve, everything after is fly to high building /lookout
You do it for the lore blurbs, and it also gives some exp for alts. Especially good if you're missing like 1% of the exp bar and don't want to waste roulette exp, since it scales to your level.
where are my fundoshi lalafell
Zero will keep eating Buuz until she becomes Zerobuuz
buuz off with those puns
Make this into the Hildebrand storyline and start over with a better MSQ.
Goddamn it, unironically, Zero should've been a part of Hildi questline.
if they have even a shred of awareness (which they do - see Nophica etc) they're gonna introduce a new character in the hildy quests: Nemo, an apathetic chick wearing all black that starts to learn about the joys of gentlemanly investigation
Featuring my son Gigi
I wish Gigi was part of Hildibrand again.
I was disappointed with how quickly Hildibrand wrote off the Hildy clones.
Oh jej
Was I supposed to lose the fight where you play as her? it started a cutscene so I just assumed I was
Yes it's impossible to step in all 4 meteors in time
makes me wonder if you can just job right away to speed things up
When are XIV models going to finally look like this?
I stopped playing at 6.0, but I liked the new song.
It reminds me of something you'd hear as the opening or ending of an old mahou shoujo show.
god i love my wife zero and her autism. from her stilted speech to her little cute cringy hat tick i love her so much
t. Jullus
I like her too but she's just so memeworthy
this is worse than elezen's bow emote and Mide's scar touching during heavensward, the animation is slightly shorter but why does she needs to do it so many goddamn times?
Because she has to hide her emotion bro she got da auts
Obsessive-compulsive disorder.
It's an indication she's not being honest with herself. Note she does it right before she does something either selfless, or different from her "GIMME DA AETHER AND NOBODY GETS HURT" schtick.
>"Man hopefully Zero won't be as boring as she was in the previous part"
>They gave her le...tragic backstory...
>Everytime Zero isn't on the screen, the WoL must ask themselves "What is Zero doing?"
>Also despite being an antisocial autist everyone loves her unconditionally
>*tips fedora*
I haven't seen FF14 in that state for a long time.
Oh my frick, this is a more obvious writer's pet than Alisaie or SB Lyse
>>Also despite being an antisocial autist everyone loves her unconditionally
Jullus just wants that goth gf ass.
Even then him and Alisaie both basically call Zero a fricking dork.
I don't mind for Julius, dude is starved for any help he can get at this point. But you're telling me Alisaie, who's always been cautious when (you) get involved in things that aren't in her control, just casually accepts that Zenos' avatar is just chilling with you and 100% trust her about not stabbing you in the back? Bullshit
These frickers are too slow with the fcking dalamud fixing
>Dungeons has notes with tidbits of lore (I assume)
>Have to skip them because wall2wall sprint
>Have to explore the dungeon again
>Notes aren't there for some reason
Thanks SE
>not doing story dungeons with trusties
Are you, dare i say, mentally challenged?
See if they're there in the actual exploration-mode where you can walk through the dungeon as you like, all the notes are just before the puppet boss
So we're just going to use the Crystal Tower (again) to enter the 13th, right?
whatever happened to Cid's idea of voidproof armor?
Ended up becoming redundant or followed through with the talismans used to prevent tempering
We literally sealed the gate
No.
Implying we won't THROW WIDE THE GATE THAT WE MAY PASS.
RIP Exarch.
>Graha I met this amazing goth chick and I want to impress her
>I need your blood to do stuff with the Crystal Tower
>like, right now
G'raha honestly needs to breed immediately, dude is a ticking time bomb for a Void invasion if his blood goes out.
Apologize.
I've been thinking lately.
I fricking hate Titania's trial, and Stormblood is what causes it.
Look at the first Trials of each expac barring EW; Ravana, Susano, Titania.
Ravana's a giant sword wielding bug who twirls his swords around like a performer as he hits you with them, and halfway through he literally starts singing fricking opera on top of an already cool theme.
Susano is fricking Susano. He's got cool lines, cool attacks, a cool design, and he has three different fricking themes on top of one the single most famous phase transitions in any Trial at all.
And then there's just Titania, a fairy with a single mediocre theme, a mediocre and phase, and boring attacks.
God I miss pre-ShB's direction.
I never hated it. The only drags were the ruby sea and Yanxia.
Alisaiegays... G'rahagays... I'm sorry. Zero might be the worst FF character ever. I can't take another patch of this b***h.
>Alisaiegays
Let's not get crazy, Alisaie was pretty awful this patch too.
I think G'raha is actually working out a bit better now though.
Raha became more or less tolerable when he ceased his simping and started doing shit.
Graha eating shit in the AR storyline made me smirk
fricking dork
He was super cute but I'm glad Krile and Deryk got some character building.
Most of Krile's char development is in Eureka anyway.
I'm stuck on Pagos 🙁
Alisaie was genuinely worse than Zero this patch. I'd go as far as to say that she's one of the biggest factors contributing to Zero being so bad. It's like they were tryong to make up for her absence the past two patches by making her even more annoying.
HW and 5.0 through 5.3 are the only times where major characters have been tolerable.
How the FRICK do I make gil in this game? I want to buy a comfy little house in Ishguard and I only have 1 mil gil, and I need 3!!
>ywn wake up next to zero one morning and be greeted by her cheery personality
Kill me Golby
I love nophica and menphina
>3 guys beat up Zero on their way to rape and pillage a town
>Zero doesn't get raped after she gets beat up
Can we get some consistency with this writing?
>we might be murder rapists high in crystals but at least we're not NECROPHILE murder rapists high on crystals!
Even depraved rapists recognize that she looks too masculine.
The chicks in the village were hotter and they knew it.
Even pillaging rapists have some standards.
they didnt want a young boy
jfk the skill level in CC has plummeted since the patch.
was it just me or was the facial animation better this patch
Alisaie definitely got some new moves
there are also actual fights in Zero's and Cagnazzo's flashbacks
There was a lot of small subtly, the slight smile zero does when Jullus helps her for instance.
Think its the first instance of her showing emotion.
>run into battlefield
>beat the shit outta everyone with bare fists
>refuse to elaborate
is...is this true power of FSH autist
>FSH 90
>PGL 90
>run into fishing spot
>instantly catch a big fish the other fools have been trying to catch for months/years
>refuse to elaborate
He was that kind of FSHchad
Why do I need to do 400 hours worth of visual novel content to hang out with my friends
you can hang out whenever
any more than that is the problem
You'd think being stuck in a frozen hellhole would could off Jullus' dick
Is the Zero duty a forced loss?
no?
Yes
yes, then she gets mating pressed
Yes
And thank god it was. Last I wanted to do was replay it.
I made it to around 50%. I wonder if it's possible to win at all.
>It's actually beatable
>If you win on the first try, you don't get any of the rest of the cutscene, Zero just tips her hat and goes back to camp
>This is actually the only cutscene in the game that gets registered in your account as having happened so that the rest of the story continues acknowledging that Zero didn't get any character development and is gonna keep asking for payment for literally every fricking thing
Honestly the whole "le learning to be human" schtick is so rote that I'd rather she stayed like that and simply didn't give a frick otherwise.
She also strikes me as a Voidsent cosplayer. She's a mudblood voidsent really. Like she's in an edgy teenager phase where she only acknowledges her "darker" half.
m'moriate
>This is actually the only cutscene in the game that gets registered in your account as having happened so that the rest of the story continues acknowledging that Zero didn't get any character development and is gonna keep asking for payment for literally every fricking thing
You know this happens constantly every single patch right? Alisaie's relationship with you is different in the MSQ for a long time in HW if you haven't befriended her already by doing Coil beforehand. Estinien's relationship with you as well depending on whether you've done his DRG quests. Not to mention G'raha in Shadowbringers since Crystal Tower used to be optional.
In the latest patch you get different cutscenes if you've finished the master role quest and sent many of the garleans to live on the moon.
There's checks for whether you've done a cutscene at all, not for which choice you've taken during them.
yes julius has to watch as she gets mindbroked, impregnated and corrupted as all cuckleans have to get ntr'ed.
When are the new housing wards opening?
Next week I think. Good luck, I already got a large so won't bother
For me, it's nymeia
What was the first thing you did for patch day? I always gun for the raid
Alliance raid ASAP because blind runs are hilarious and kino
>everyone real close to Nophica for obvious reasons
>she does the point blank aoe
>mfw
>Not always doing all content blind with blind-only groups, including savage and ultimate
>tfw my group was filled with competent people who only needed 1 wipe at most to get mechanics
It was kind of sad tbh
>Did it day one
>Only thing my party struggled on was Halone, everything else went super smoothly
I feel like it's easier than the first one
I did the Alliance raid and reinforced every lolDRG stereotype.
MSQ because I usually don't want spoilers dropped on me.
Not that there was really a whole lot to spoil this time.
Honestly, the FF14 community is pretty good about spoilers. I did make sure to stay off Ganker until I finished the MSQ, though.
Granted, there were no happenings big enough for people to spam spoilers.
Did the alliance raid the hour the patch came out
Was not disappointed
I only wiped once. Was middly disappointed but the fun was high. Game is x10000 better with simple mechanics that are fun to solve than hard mechanics that are unfun to solve
Is MCH good now
>the hidden 13th god is the 3rd boss in the final raid
>we beat them and the plot is resolved
>oschon appears and fights us for shits and giggles as the final boss
I really can't stand Zero who is clearly some writer's pet donut steel waifu. Imagine the kino if we somehow had Cylva with us, at least she has a fricking personality.
Jesus christ I'd take Cylva over her any day.
What makes it worse is that Cylva was a Memoriate as well.
And a drk, when scions are forever "tank in need".
>not being the WAR of Light
Shame.
The WAR of Light is literally Ardbert.
And Ardbert is (You)
pretty sure she's PLD
She uses a sword and shield but her attacks are mostly DRK skills, aside from the Passage of Arms she does. She's dual classing.
where the wolf dog monster tho
The wolf is just Eden memory shenanigans.
Nah, it's not. Go around Lakeland and find the gnole enemies. Those are all elves who transformed under her guidance. They have some kind of werewolf thing. The Warg gear in Grand Cosmos is also from them.
I liked the elezen knights in that dungeon
There's also this lakeland fate that has you fight a former elf wolfman https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/A_Beast_among_Men
You just know
She was a PLD yeah.
We already have G'raha, she NEEDS to respec into DRK because I said so.
We also have Y'shtola yet G'raha is still a BLM
she's SEX
She looks so cool, but she was such a jobber or am I remembering wrong?
She wasn't a jobber, she straight up completely forgot how to fight after 100 years of bartending. When she stands in front of you in full battle gear she pretty much says you can kill her if you want and she can't even defend herself.
so alcohol really does kill gains
SAY IT TO MY FACE YER LIL' b***h
>tfw someone suggested that we could have taken Meteion instead for a "teaching how to socialize" plot but with the more interesting twist that her confusing other people's feelings and opinions as her own could make it harder
>Thancred's VA is Rubicante
>Venat's VA is Nophica
>Titania's VA is Nyemia
But who are Althyk and Halone? I want to say Feo Ul is Halone but not too sure.
Althyk was Emet's VA.
I'm fairly certain Halon is Saibah
>en dub
Althyk is Golbez
>Thancred's VA is Rubicante
I knew he sounded like the Jobber-In-Chief.
I couldn't tell until the trial, the fight lines are similar to Fatebreaker, but in the cutscene he sounds a bit deeper so it threw me off until my second time through the fight.
Halone is Voiced by the chick who voiced Malenia.
>Venat's VA is Nophica
No that's definitely Robyn Addison/Y'shtola's VA. Thancred was probably Althyk too.
jesus frick for a second there I though her hat had eyes like Faust
>venture comes back
>1 wind crystal
someone make an actual thread and not some gay bait shit
Janny killed my waifu ;_;
WoW janny must have woken up
Good, you fricking moron.
paladin rework is unironically really cool. being able to replace atonements with lots of extra holy spirits for very minor potency loss if you need to stay at range/heal yourself is a lot of fun & the reworkd mitigation makes you feel as tanky as the shield tank should
you now remember when you thought ironsworks gear was cool
I never did, I just hadn't figured out how glams worked by then.
...my days of being a starry-eyed adventurer, where has the time gone?...
>sprout in aglaia
huh?
yeah, they boosting
>Sprouts only goes away after like 15 days of playtime, you can easily get to EW by that time
I made a new character for shits and giggles and was 50 before taking on Garuda for the first time
think they increased the amount of xp you get, close to 51 and they're just now going after Ultima Weapon
Reclearing P8S has been fricking horrible since Tuesday.
Between the lag spikes and DC, and fricker who rely too much on cactbot and still joining and feeling every mechanic so they turn reclears into progs, it was a nightmare...
I've seen a lot of teleporting today. Something fricky happened with their netcode change.
It was terrible for me yesterday
something about the first like month of the new patch causes nonstop lag and DC
