There is nothing wrong with Arena Fighters, the problem is that they aren't actually balanced around being a fighter but more so about enabling flashy anime bullshit and ease of execution because the game is intended for casuals. The concept can be done well but in those cases they aren't based on a liscended property like Anarchy Reigns or For Honor.

SF5 was a funny case because they outsourced the models( & animations?) among different companies so some models look horrendous and are clear copypaste jobs while others look good
SF6 has some good and some bad despite I don't think they're outsourcing as much / as widely this time
