people cry because the game is shit. Even something as simple as "why does travis stay in silent hill and doesnt just run away" isnt considered
well...it's better than Shitcumming and Shat-Turd-Memes
it does play like a classic SH game and the soundtrack is cool but the plot and characters are fricking trash
they ruined the characters from SH1 they aren't even the same anymore (especially Dahlia), the dialogue between them is so dull and unmemorable, the plot is shit and filled with plotholes contradicting the rest of the series...
all this because the morons who made Origins used the movie as their base instead of the actual fricking games
Shattered Memories was by far the best Western silent hill game, they tried something different instead of just copying the older games formula
If it had more challenging puzzles and deeper psychological aspects it could have been great
And those chases were crap, you should be able to defend yourself with more than a flare
i hate saying this phrase but Shat-Turd-Memes is an okay game but a bad SH game
it's a generic western walking/running simulator with piss easy puzzles and a proto-Life Is Strange plot/setting/vibes, even the soundtrack is by far the weakest Akira Yamaoka's work
it's better than Shitcumming (nothing is worst than that trash) but it's still far worse than Origins it's not even close
Shattered Memories was by far the best Western silent hill game, they tried something different instead of just copying the older games formula
If it had more challenging puzzles and deeper psychological aspects it could have been great
And those chases were crap, you should be able to defend yourself with more than a flare
Because, unironically, it tries to prequel the classic without stating anything new and it started a trend of developers not knowing what they are making so let's rip off sh2 cause it's the only one we think we understood.
fair enough. What about all the other SH games? I've been meaning to play them since I just finished signalis and am really in the mood for more. 1-4 are good right? What about those downpour and the other ones
>1-4 are good right?
they are classics. Everything past 4 is again lol unironically ripping off sh2. In its themes, style, symbolism, and plot. Except for vita game. That one is just pure shit on its own. Trust me, guy that made Signalis didn't get inspired playing Downpour.
>Except for vita game. That one is just pure shit on its own.
Unfortunately that was also Konami's fault, since what Wayforward pitched them was to be a puzzle focused SH game with an isometric-perspective.
>Yeah, but you know, run-based games are pretty popular these days, make one of those instead....
SH1 isn't good. The only good thing about that piece of shit is that it started the series. What a boring, vanilla game. I'd argue SH3 is also a piece of shit because of much of 1 is in there not even talking about the dreadful story.

The gameplay doesn't matter in these games. Sure it's serviceable but no one is going to buy them for it. And it wasn't just more of the same formula the story takes a completely different turn not even remotely comparable to SH1's boring vanilla ghost story crap. The atmosphere is completely different as well.

>you talking about Reddit Hill 2? because that story is literally about the ghost of your dead wife sending you a letter
This is wrong even considering the various interpretations of SH2's plot. Did Maria write it as part of her town larp? Did the Mary thing you fight at the end write it? Or did James simply imagine the letter?
The fact is that whatever the letter is real Mary is dead and not coming back. James is just letting the town's power manifest and frick with his brain. And replacing her with an idealised version is self destructive.

that's the correct answer since the writing on the letter does disappear near the end of the game meaning it was all in his head but the average gamer wouldn't notice that unless he reads the wikia or watch a two hours analyse video of Reddit Hill 2 plot, so as this anon

You got me. Grew up with HoMM/Gothic/old Hitmans and the like. Never had a problem with hardware though, I could run Crysis on medium/high like half a year after release. I just naturally gravitated towards eurojank
1's main fun comes from the tension the enemies and level design cause. You had to treat them as an actual threat, learn their moveset and eventually overcome them. You learn the movement of both your character and the enemy. This in combination with the Hammer, Rifle and Shotty being fun-to-use weapons means that SH1 is ultimately fun to play. You have to master its systems, but it's rewarding. Frick the bosses though
3 just plays really smoothly. Fun gunplay, Heather is fast, and yet it doesn't affect the atmosphere in any way. Though maybe it's because I played it right after the slog that was 2

1-3 are. The Room was developed by Team Silent's B team while the main one worked on 3. It also originally wasn't a SH game, but the logo was slapped onto it by Konami late in development in order to ensure better sales
>The Room was developed by Team Silent's B team while the main one worked on 3. It also originally wasn't a SH game
All wrong. This has been proven false ages ago.
>because no pyramid head
except they did have a pyramid head with the butcher.
people cry because the game is shit. Even something as simple as "why does travis stay in silent hill and doesnt just run away" isnt considered
Both could be explained with Travis being "lead by something" into silent hill because of his own traumas which are completely different from James trauma.
Also it could have worked better as a prequel if it developed alessa, dahlia and the doctor but it didn't.
James has the letter, and during the graveyard scene he says he doesnt care about danger. Its obvious hes out of it and doesnt run away.
Travis doesnt have that. They couldve added a simple hook, like he wants to leave but someone says something about his past and he sticks around. Then the audience is also engaged
>oth could be explained with Travis being "lead by something" into silent hill because of his own traumas
silent hill is not about people facing their inner demons and resolving their traumas you idiot. You only need to understand basic premise and concepts of silent hill in order to dismiss how terrible every non SH game was and how they are all basically sh2 clones. Starting with origian.
>and it started a trend of developers not knowing what they are making so let's rip off sh2 cause it's the only one we think we understood.
I fricking cringed at the pyramid of savepoints which is literally just there as a reference to the 9 red squares and literally nothing else.
Retcons the first game, cameos just because, more boogeyman bullshit.
The inventory system is awful. The gimmick the game stands on gets old fast and goes against everything the series has stablished.
I think the phrase is making the best of a bad situation
>Kill team Silent >Ousource to moronic Americanos >They want to turn it into fricking Scrubs >Send it to Climax Uk >Turn it into a decent if kind of meh Silent Hill 3 clone but you can carry like 100 TVs
I'll die on the hill that the Sanitarium is one of the best areas in the entire series. It's not even really scary but I dread going in that place because it's so fricking dark.
Origins, Homecoming and Downpour were all pretty good.
The worst Silent Hill was still faring better than other long-running IPs of a similar age, and many horror games today.
>first literally unplayable Silent Hill game
I doubt it since they're not using their shitty engine this time, and are instead being forced to use UE5 while everything is being watched over by the dev who was the most outspoken about SH2 HD.
Also, >Homecoming's broken and janky combat >Downpour barely functioning on launch (not just 'performance issues', constant loading and crashing were common) >the Silent Hill HD Collection
I appreciate that they tried to keep the horror vibe that gen where even Resident Evil transitioned to action. Although I do agree with the consensus that they mostly failed but those games had a few good ideas here and there.
I wish Downpour's PC version hadn't been canned. That game as SEVERELY downgraded by release, presumably to run on consoles because UE3 was a b***h to run on consoles. It would be super cool if Konami could find PC Downpour in mothballs, but it's unlikely.
Travis was written as a serial killer originally, but Sam Barlow, who rebooted the project and wrote the final version, dislikes these kind of stories and those kind of protags. The game is internally pushed and pulled by the fact it started out as a different game and its assets were recycled into Origins.
I wonder what they were thinking with making Henry have basically zero personal stake in SH4. I think that's why a lot of people felt like it was flimsy and bad before SH got so much worse it seems better in retrospect.
Like Harry, Cherl, and James all have personal history tied up in the game. Henry could be literally anyone, he has no presence beyond being a self-insert.
>Filters fake SH fans by making a game that contradicts the original game by adding in a bunch of elements from SH2 and the fricking movie that also ripped shit off from SH2.
The problem is that the SH movie got a LOT of things wrong in the first place, and now they are trying to shovel all their fanfic into the canon games.
>contradicts the original game
Nothing wrong with this at all. The atmosphere of the original was always the best thing about it (the devs themselves understood this and didn't force SH2 to tie in with the plot of first game); it's totally fine for "Silent Hill" to imply a shared aesthetic and style of gameplay. Autistically sticking to continuity is how you end up with mess like the Resident Evil series.
I said the plot of SH2 didn't tie that much into the plot of SH1, I wasn't talking about Origins there
1 year ago
Anonymous
That's because they just ripped it off for Travis' trauma story. He even has his on Pyramid Head. Even if they didn't add stuff to link it to SH2, they lifted a bunch of elements from that game to put in Origins.
>fake Silent Hill fans
Most "fans" of Silent Hill like the idea of the game but not the actual game itself, and will only have played 2 if they even played any of the games at all
I meant the series as a whole, not just Origins. People just watch YouTube videos about the games but don't play them, which is why they repeat nonsense like complaining about sexy nurses in any of the games other than 2...they didn't play 1 and realise there were sexy nurses in that game as well

What the frick are you talking about? Lisa's ONLY defining character traits are being helpful to Harry and being a junkie. Her looks have NOTHING to do with her character at all.
>have no significance at all in the game >Her looks have NOTHING to do with her character at all.
I didn't say it did, just that she's clearly an attractive character. She is also more sexual; she wears an incredibly short skirt and has her cleavage out. All this supports my point that the nurses in SH1 were supposed to have a sexual element to them, it wasn't something unique to SH2, it was just more overt in that game
1 year ago

>she wears an incredibly short skirt and has her cleavage out
that's just traditional japanese vidya coomer bait design, almost all female characters in games (especially Konami games) were like that like that Kurd prostitute in MGS 1 or Maria in SOTN
but it plays ZERO importance in the game, just like Cybil's sexy fat ass have no relevance

That's my whole point lol. Silent Hill always had sexy nurses, they were deliberately sexy, but people point at the nurses in the games after SH2 and say it doesn't make sense for them to be there because "blah blah James symbolism clearly western devs don't understand Silent Hill!" but completely ignore that they were always a part of the series. The only valid criticism is that its lazy to directly copy the design of the SH2 nurses

except that the nurses in SH1 are objectively not sexy, if they were you would see people (mostly coomers) mentioning them every now and then like how they mention those children monsters trying to kill Harry by giving him a blowjob

they're not fapbait but it is a part of their design >Lisa "looks" are to contrast with the otherworld

The enemy nurses are not sexualized and Lisa "looks" are to contrast with the otherworld since you only ever see her there. She's supposed to be the one "good" thing there, but the twist is that not only is she already dead, but she was also part of the blame for everything going on

all this nonsense is getting away from my actual point that game journos and the "games are art" crowd fawning over SH2 because they like the idea of the therapist town have lead to one of the worst fandoms of any game series. People give SH2 far too much credit and are happy to overlook its flaws because they think it is some sort of artistic masterpiece of videogame storytelling. They also unfairly dismiss the other entries in the series, when many of them are actually pretty good games.
Not to sound like that homosexual Ito but there's a major difference betwer Alessa's Nurses which are human and James...which are deformed. One problem with Origins is that they use the 2 version (Because of the movie) when they should have used something like the ones from 3.
>People just watch YouTube videos about the games but don't play them
no one cares about those posers they don't count >they didn't play 1 and realise there were sexy nurses in that game as well
of so you're a fricking poser too? the nurses in 1 are not ''sexy'' you moron they are (alongside the male doctors) the staff of the hospital that turned into hideous abomination (Lisa was the only survivor)
in 2 the nurses were ''sexy'' because of the context (James and Muh sexual frustration)
in 3 the nurses weren't sexy they were kinda in the middle between 1 and 2's nurses, in 4 they definitely weren't sexy unless you have a burping fetish
then fricking Origins and they had the sexy nurses despite making no sense, why? because the fricking movie had sexy nurses too (another case of Reddit Hill 2 ripoff) then it happened again in Homecoming
When you start caving to the morons the overall quality of the product goes down. It';s basically what happened to Resident Evil which didn't even really have a villain or narrative outside of a faceless megacorp dun goofed and look at the shtishow that became. Even when they dialed it back a notch you still have you fighting Vampires and Magneto with random appearances by Capcom's favorite Chris.
Silent Hill is more dedicated to atmosphere, self contained stories and horror so hoepfully it'll never ever get to that level. But the message is never give an inch.

My personal view is that the biggest downfall of Silent Hill as a series is that people have massively overhyped the psychological aspect of Silent Hill 2, and give the game far too much leeway because they like the idea of a game being 'mature' and dealing with mental health topics. For example, the voice acting is shitty. It's not deliberately uncanny or "lynchian", its just shitty. Similarly, the combat isn't janky on purpose to heighten the horror, it's just janky. Resident Evil achieved tension through its combat mechanics without being nearly as clunky, and was a much more tightly designed game overall. Silent Hill still blows it out of the water in terms of atmosphere though. >basically what happened to Resident Evil which didn't even really have a villain or narrative outside of a faceless megacorp dun goofed and look at the shtishow that became
I completely agree which is why I don't think errors in continuity is a bad thing in SH games, or even that they need to have continuity at all beyond aesthetics and gameplay
Climax did alright with their two games, all things considered. They're not insulting, like the other two western sequels.
Origins owes a lot to being made during the same gen as the last Japanese games, sticking to the same visual and gameplay style, instead of trying to "re-invent" it. And being a portable title, it has this lo-fi simplicity that suits SH. One thing I like about it also is it focuses a bit on exploring the town like in SH1, a bit more than 2 or 3. It's superfluous and derivative in a competent way, like obviously you're aware it's a cashgrab rehash devoid of new ideas, with obvious flaws or stupid ideas, but it nails the gameplay loop and beats of a competent survival horror. The motel and the theater are two very well designed areas, felt genuinely inspired and fitting. I could have done with the trashy rehash of muh personal trauma demons but whatever.
SM is a weak horror game, chase segments are garbage but I like that it tried something different, and it its own charming atmosphere, closer to an adventure game but with novelty gimmicks.
I can't even enjoy HC and DP as generic horror games, even if I pretend they don't carry the SH name, they're just so trashy to play and creatively bankrupt. I hate Tom Hullet, greetings from Silent Hill.
Can you explain what you find positive about DP? Both DP and HC to me feel like 60 IQ fat burger takes on SH. I genuinely feel insulted by these piece of shit. It's like going from David Lynch to a bargain bin Friday 13th straight-to-video rip-off. They're barely even competent on a mechanical level, the worst kind of jank.
>It's like going from David Lynch to a bargain bin Friday 13th straight-to-video rip-off
Whereas for me in that analogy, the Climax games feel more like the shitty season 2 episodes of Twin Peaks when Lynch wasn't around, or some of the more shallow but still watchable rip-offs like The Machinist.
Actually playing DP is all about town exploration rather than having it be a footnote for once. Aside from 1's Kaufmann quest, the town itself has never mattered so much. It also probably does the most to successfully de-emphasize combat which has never been good in these games. It has a similar versatility to 1 in terms of fight or flight with a general emphasis on flight.
Is homecoming really literally unplayable on pc? Should I get it on sale on xbox? I only played 1-3 so far but I want to at least try the shitty titles.
Yeah I know that much anon. Im just asking if it's stable enough to play through with the fixes or still hot garbage. I got an xbawks series s which I'll have to use to play downpour anyway since it's not ported to anything and I doubt it'll run well in rpcs3. And as far as I know console versions run okayish with no fuss
Shit you're right, I just checked. But it seems rpcs3 handles it well after all so I guess I'll just emulate it.
i played HC on my potato PC and it was fine but in some rare cases the game can crash (happened to me twice)
oh and Downpour has been playable on RPCS3 for years now, they even fixed the visual issues
Thanks anon. I guess I'll grab homecoming on Xbox of I see it on sale on Ms store and if not I'll play the pc version.
i played HC on my potato PC and it was fine but in some rare cases the game can crash (happened to me twice)

You know I really kinda preferred it when Konami stopped making games, MGS was the only good thing they were putting out for a while. SH2 remake is gonna be average at best
Here's this pic for those morons who said that the silent hill sequels made without Toyama (the creator of silent hill) weren't official fanfiction and saying the core team of the original game was still there.
This further proves that nothing past the first game is canon, everything else is official fanfiction.
Blood Curse was more of a parody (satire?), I think. Something not made with love for horror but simply to make fun of Americans. People sadly liked it as a scary game.
It doesn't help that Forbidden Siren 2 never made its way to the US though.
>SH 3 is a direct sequel, you moron.
That was from an interview about silent hill 2, but my point still applies because the core team that was missing from silent hill 2 didn't come back for any of the sequels.
when the remake comes out it will invite tons of zoomers and bring the degenerate coomers and dicky gays with them you'll see tons of new e-girl fan art of Laura all over this board
the e-girlta naming shit was and i quote from the creator's comment ''was met by a fierce opposition and was rejected''
based Team Silent BTFO pedo Toyama, no wonder he left Konami and went on to make Siren
>Alessa is 14 >wtf! i thought she was 16-20
The ritual happens when she's 7, and it's takes 7 years for her to merge back in her other half. SH3 also confirms it when Heather gets a happy birthday call and the person on the phone alludes to each Alessa form's age. >17 for Heather >24 for Cheryl >31 for Alessa
Silent Hill Origins is a game I recommend every Silent Hill fan play once just because it demonstrates what a huge part the narrative plays in these games. It looks like Silent Hill, it plays like Silent Hill, it's Silent Hill almost to a T, but it falls apart due to the disjointed plot - they want to make a prequel to SH1 about Alessa while also developing this original character with his own shit going on ala SH2, and the result is neither element gets enough development to be compelling. It's like yeah, I'm playing Silent Hill, but I don't care.
That's interesting yeah she might be in it I would be surprised if Troy Baker would also have some vocals although they might want to avoid it since fans will go apeshit with seethe
Doubt, there are no vocal tracks in original SH2.
They made vocal version of Love Psalm for the Book of Memories thou, so there are still possibilities.
I mean why bring back Yamaoka if you're just going to repeat yourself I'm sure there are a bunch of audio suprises and a McGlynn track would definitely be an easy win
>why bring back Yamaoka
Marketing. Do you believe Ito and Yamaoka actually have anything with development of remake?
there is no Silent Hill without Yamaoka besides are are you trusting Bloober to find a new composer capable of remixing the SH2 OST without fricking it up?
as for Ito that hack loser was living in a manga cafe doing nothing but browsing Twitter 24/7, his Twitter homosexualry is the only reason he is still relevant and remembered by SH fans, he knows Bloober is going to frick the remake but as long he gets that check he desperately needs he doesn't care anymore
Ito has made it clear that he hates the fact that he's only know for Pyramid head before, I doubt he has any love for the franchise, but a fat paycheck is a fat paycheck.

and did you look up the list of his works? it's so pathetic for the egoistic hack jerked off by redditors he is
he did nothing of a value since SH3, his designs for Shadows Of The Damned were rejected (lmao) and he worked on two gigantic shitty commercial and critical flops (NightCry and MG Survive)
That's interesting yeah she might be in it I would be surprised if Troy Baker would also have some vocals although they might want to avoid it since fans will go apeshit with seethe
Doubt, there are no vocal tracks in original SH2.
They made vocal version of Love Psalm for the Book of Memories thou, so there are still possibilities.
the true question is if Joe Romersa (he filtered millions of SH gays) will make a return
The unlockables are still the best outside of SH3 >plenty of secret weapons >lots of costumes and some actually change gameplay >some other gameplay changing unlockables like Night Vision Googles too
The other SH games past 3, including 4 and all the other murrican ones have garbage unlockables/replay value in comparison.
Oh the irony
elaborate.
You know exactly what you're doing with this thread.
I do not. Please elaborate.
>trashy american reboot
>american
Climax Studios are British
The game was originally supposed to be a RE4 clone but they turned it into a more respectable state
>reboot
What?
i disregard everything after 4
>game that doesn't make any sense and even doesn't take place in Silent Hill is somehow included
we get it you're a weeaboo go jack off to your cartoons elsewhere
i've put a curse on you, you will become a Black person in 3 days
>>game that doesn't make any sense
you are unironically too dumb. SH4 is in line with the themes and rules of the world established in sh1,2 and 3.
Elaborate please.
You said it doesn't you dumb frick. So go first and explain why do you sh4 doesn't make any sense so I can know your arguing points.
please kys if not trolling
Its soundtrack is underrated

Thanks bro.
i drop this every time i get to the guy's house and his mom's acting stupid or whatever. is it worth pushing on?
You're missing out if you do not continue.
not really
plays well albeit can't change resolution
It was really a good silent hill game. I didn't see the issue, just a bunch of false fans that are cry babies because no pyramid head or James
>because no pyramid head
except they did have a pyramid head with the butcher.
people cry because the game is shit. Even something as simple as "why does travis stay in silent hill and doesnt just run away" isnt considered
it's lazy nostalgia bait
Yeah because the game won't let me progress past the meat locker. It freezes if I try to go into the butcher.
well...it's better than Shitcumming and Shat-Turd-Memes
it does play like a classic SH game and the soundtrack is cool but the plot and characters are fricking trash
>the plot and characters are fricking trash
elaborate.
they ruined the characters from SH1 they aren't even the same anymore (especially Dahlia), the dialogue between them is so dull and unmemorable, the plot is shit and filled with plotholes contradicting the rest of the series...
all this because the morons who made Origins used the movie as their base instead of the actual fricking games
i hate saying this phrase but Shat-Turd-Memes is an okay game but a bad SH game
it's a generic western walking/running simulator with piss easy puzzles and a proto-Life Is Strange plot/setting/vibes, even the soundtrack is by far the weakest Akira Yamaoka's work
it's better than Shitcumming (nothing is worst than that trash) but it's still far worse than Origins it's not even close
Shattered Memories was by far the best Western silent hill game, they tried something different instead of just copying the older games formula
If it had more challenging puzzles and deeper psychological aspects it could have been great
And those chases were crap, you should be able to defend yourself with more than a flare
>it's different so it's good
midwit take
Not made by Team Silent.
I will not be playing it.
This is literally the only SH game I was able to finish and I still pooped myself playing it. It's a great game why do people hate it?
There main problem is that you are playing as just some trucker who is not relevant to the story at all and who has no reason to go to Silent Hill
didn't he literally just drive by since it was on his route and got dragged into it?
I don't remember too much about the game anymore so I don't know what you mean.
I remember 100% it with the alien ending and all. Once I got used to the spooky stuff.
>MUUUH BASEMENT BROOOO
Book Of Kino is unironically the best post-SH4 game
very funny. Upvoted
Unironically the only SH with playable combat.
Gameplay is whatever. The fact that Tomm Hullet tried to retcon the entire series into a fan fic out of spite, is what makes it offensive.
I have nothing against Wayfoward but they raped River City why the frick would anyone want them near Silent Hill?
SH:BoM was before Wayforward got half its staff splitting off to form Yacht Club.
SH1 isn't good. The only good thing about that piece of shit is that it started the series. What a boring, vanilla game. I'd argue SH3 is also a piece of shit because of much of 1 is in there not even talking about the dreadful story.
>t. Reddit Hill 2 poser
2 is the worst Team Silent game, if your favorite e-celebs did not shill it you wouldn't even care about it
Keep howling for the masterpiece that is SH2. Your piece of shit games will never reach the status SH2 has. Frick even 4 is more interesting than 1 and 3.
It's ok Tomm. You can stop now. Kys
>MUUUH TOMM
Keep looking for bogeymen it will won't fix your shit taste.
>I'm a contrarian homosexual please pay attention to me
You are trying too hard.
>Liking the most reneowned game in the series
>Contrarian
You live in a fantasy land.
You literally never played a single SH game. I don't understand your autism and posting but you should stop. This is your last (you) you attention seeking moron.
Keep moving goalposts, spaz. God SH1tards are so annoying. Go make your own thread and shit it up with your dogshit game.
>will never reach the status SH2 has
the statues of being ''Reddit: the game''? yes am thankful this will never happen to actual good horror games like SH1 and 3
Epic bait moron kun. Nobody is this moronic.
>muh bait
stfu
>SH1 isn't good.
It was so good that SH2 was simply more of the same formula without improving anything other than just the visuals/audio.
The gameplay doesn't matter in these games. Sure it's serviceable but no one is going to buy them for it. And it wasn't just more of the same formula the story takes a completely different turn not even remotely comparable to SH1's boring vanilla ghost story crap. The atmosphere is completely different as well.
>The gameplay doesn't matter in these games
no one who played a SH game would say that, you obviously watched a Streamer or some shit playing the games and now you think you have the authority to talk about SH as if you are a legit fan kek
>boring vanilla ghost story crap
you talking about Reddit Hill 2? because that story is literally about the ghost of your dead wife sending you a letter
>you talking about Reddit Hill 2? because that story is literally about the ghost of your dead wife sending you a letter
And replacing her with an idealised version is self destructive.
the basic premise is that your dead wife sent you a letter you mentally deranged moron.
>did James simply imagine the letter?
that's the correct answer since the writing on the letter does disappear near the end of the game meaning it was all in his head but the average gamer wouldn't notice that unless he reads the wikia or watch a two hours analyse video of Reddit Hill 2 plot, so as this anon
said the basic premise of the game is still a ''ghost crap story''
even in Born From A Wish it's also ghost shit , literally
I don't mean a ghost story literally I mean something you can find on the shelf at an airport. Pulp, cheap, cliched, garbage. And saying that SH2's story is a ghost story is disingenuous and you know it you dense motherfricker.
>I mean something you can find on the shelf at an airport. Pulp, cheap, cliched, garbage
you mean something like Reddit Hill 2 which is a ripoff of a shitty David Lynch movie you'd find a old copy of it in a bazaar
>HUR DUR RIP OFF
you morons need to learn the difference between being inspired and ripping off. You sound like a moron and you are wasting time arguing with a guy who never played these games.
I have played them and the gameplay sucks. Ask anyone who isn't nostalgia bound boomer and they'll say the same. I have not done a NG+ EVER nor am I interesting in doing one. Whenever I replay I just do a regular game.
I do not care about some generic cliched psychic girl crap. It's an instant turn off.
so what's your favorite horror game anyway? some kind of a walking sim i guess
Silent Hill 2.
>I have played them and the gameplay sucks. Ask anyone who isn't nostalgia bound boomer and they'll say the same.
I played through all 4 games last year. 1 and 3 have fun gameplay. Did you only play 2 or something?
You must be a 40 year old or a zoomer spic/slav who's accustomed to old gameplay because he could never afford to play a modern game.
Alright I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. What's so fun about them?
>slav who's accustomed to old gameplay
Though maybe it's because I played it right after the slog that was 2
Nta but no, SH1 gameplay fricking sucks and is actively detrimental to the game
>SH1's boring vanilla ghost story crap.
Is this what autism looks like? You are not fooling anyone. You never played any of these games and I don't understand your urges to post. Are you ok moron?
It's a better game than 2.
>1-4 are good right?
Just play 1-4. The actual SH games made by Team Silent. Everything else does not matter and is actually worse too.
Yeah It's a shame they didn't do that I guess.
They tried to hook him with being curious about Alessa but it was very flimsy
>oth could be explained with Travis being "lead by something" into silent hill because of his own traumas
silent hill is not about people facing their inner demons and resolving their traumas you idiot. You only need to understand basic premise and concepts of silent hill in order to dismiss how terrible every non SH game was and how they are all basically sh2 clones. Starting with origian.
>origian
*Origins
And where does it say exactly silent hill is not about facing your inner demons? You dipshit?
Even the first Silent Hill had that as a subplot
>and it started a trend of developers not knowing what they are making so let's rip off sh2 cause it's the only one we think we understood.
>Kill team Silent
>Ousource to moronic Americanos
>They want to turn it into fricking Scrubs
>Send it to Climax Uk
>Turn it into a decent if kind of meh Silent Hill 3 clone but you can carry like 100 TVs
I'll die on the hill that the Sanitarium is one of the best areas in the entire series. It's not even really scary but I dread going in that place because it's so fricking dark.
oh and if anybody got that SH guide for how to play the games that would be based
doumo
>Silent Hill PSOne
>Mednagenshit
>PCSX-R
How is it there, in 2008, you fricking moron?
Like i said to this anon
if there's a newer guide then post it. I trust most users aren't morons and will use whatever emulator they want.
>I trust most users aren't morons
sweet summer child...
I believe in them okay!? They're not morons! they're not!
I liked it.
Origins, Homecoming and Downpour were all pretty good.
The worst Silent Hill was still faring better than other long-running IPs of a similar age, and many horror games today.
Bloober remake will be the first literally unplayable Silent Hill game. Well second after orignal Downpour and it's performance issues.
>first literally unplayable Silent Hill game
I doubt it since they're not using their shitty engine this time, and are instead being forced to use UE5 while everything is being watched over by the dev who was the most outspoken about SH2 HD.
Also,
>Homecoming's broken and janky combat
>Downpour barely functioning on launch (not just 'performance issues', constant loading and crashing were common)
>the Silent Hill HD Collection
>Homecoming's broken and janky combat
bad, but unplayable
I appreciate that they tried to keep the horror vibe that gen where even Resident Evil transitioned to action. Although I do agree with the consensus that they mostly failed but those games had a few good ideas here and there.
I wish Downpour's PC version hadn't been canned. That game as SEVERELY downgraded by release, presumably to run on consoles because UE3 was a b***h to run on consoles. It would be super cool if Konami could find PC Downpour in mothballs, but it's unlikely.
Shattered Memories > 1 > 3 > Origins >Downpour > Homecoming > 4 > 2
It's only natural that the SH movie would feed into the games.
Autistically sticking to continuity is how you end up with mess like the Resident Evil series.
>didn't force SH2 to tie in with the plot of first game
Lol, they did when they added SH2 exclusives enemies into the game, you moron.
what?
Nurses and lying figures are enemies that ONLY existed in SH2 up until Origins brought them back.
I said the plot of SH2 didn't tie that much into the plot of SH1, I wasn't talking about Origins there
That's because they just ripped it off for Travis' trauma story. He even has his on Pyramid Head. Even if they didn't add stuff to link it to SH2, they lifted a bunch of elements from that game to put in Origins.
>fake Silent Hill fans
Most "fans" of Silent Hill like the idea of the game but not the actual game itself, and will only have played 2 if they even played any of the games at all
>like the idea of the game
nobody likes muh otherworld being another dimension that you can reach with a mirror you moron.
Thematically it sucks but gameplay wise it's just removing the middleman of doing half the building then doing the other half but shits rusty.
>it's just removing the middleman of doing half the building then doing the other half but shits rusty.
sounds like mental gymnastics tbh
I meant the series as a whole, not just Origins. People just watch YouTube videos about the games but don't play them, which is why they repeat nonsense like complaining about sexy nurses in any of the games other than 2...they didn't play 1 and realise there were sexy nurses in that game as well
>realise there were sexy nurses in that game as well
Wow, so sexy.
did you forget that the nurses in SH1 moan orgasmically? They also writhe around is a sexual way if you bonk them with the hammer
>did you forget that the nurses in SH1 moan orgasmically
Groans are now sexual moans? You do know that the male doctors also did the same thing, too?
try and tell me that isn't a sexualised moan (11:51)
?t=706
literally me yawning when i wake up in the morning
Black person, that's a death rattle, you fricking weirdo.
Including orgasmically writhing around? When I was playing with my gf she literally said "why did they make them so horny?"
your gf (implying she exists) is also a fricking weirdo
lol
using sexuality in horror is nothing new, its definitely the intended effect here, it makes them unsettling
i bet you also think this is also sexual you fricking weirdo
No I don't, and I don't think I'm supposed to either.
Sexuality is definitely a feature of the nurses in SH1, Lisa is clearly supposed to be attractive. Its just not as overt as in SH2
>Lisa is clearly supposed to be attractive
lol what? her ''looks'' have no significance at all in the game, they could've have made her an ugly fat hairy ''women'' like that cook from Bully and it wouldn't change a thing
also you fricking moron, attractive =/= sexual
Cybil and Alessa are also attractive but there aren't sexualized and neither is Lisa
>have no significance at all in the game
>Her looks have NOTHING to do with her character at all.
I didn't say it did, just that she's clearly an attractive character. She is also more sexual; she wears an incredibly short skirt and has her cleavage out. All this supports my point that the nurses in SH1 were supposed to have a sexual element to them, it wasn't something unique to SH2, it was just more overt in that game
>she wears an incredibly short skirt and has her cleavage out
that's just traditional japanese vidya coomer bait design, almost all female characters in games (especially Konami games) were like that like that Kurd prostitute in MGS 1 or Maria in SOTN
but it plays ZERO importance in the game, just like Cybil's sexy fat ass have no relevance
The only valid criticism is that its lazy to directly copy the design of the SH2 nurses
except that the nurses in SH1 are objectively not sexy, if they were you would see people (mostly coomers) mentioning them every now and then like how they mention those children monsters trying to kill Harry by giving him a blowjob
>objectively not sexy
they're not fapbait but it is a part of their design
>Lisa "looks" are to contrast with the otherworld
which is why they gave her a short, skintight skirt and exposed boobs? As the other anon said its just traditional japanese vidya coomer bait design, but that doesn't mean it isn't there
>Silent Hill always had sexy nurses,
The enemy nurses are not sexualized and Lisa "looks" are to contrast with the otherworld since you only ever see her there. She's supposed to be the one "good" thing there, but the twist is that not only is she already dead, but she was also part of the blame for everything going on
>Lisa is clearly supposed to be attractive
What the frick are you talking about? Lisa's ONLY defining character traits are being helpful to Harry and being a junkie. Her looks have NOTHING to do with her character at all.
>Sexuality is definitely a feature of the nurses in SH1, Lisa is clearly supposed to be attractive
Both wrong, stated by the devs themselves.
link?
Have you ever seen a woman giving birth? They go through an immense amount of pain and literally moan through the whole experience. It has nothing to do with a sexual pleasure, I assure you.
What? How is that sexualised?
the death moan sounds like pleasure, and she writhes around like she's orgasming (note that the doctor enemies don't do this)
these ones are even more apparent:

Darkness, a fetid atmosphere and feminine moans. Perfection
>not just me either
>literally quotes two fricking equally sick fricks
you all probably browse /gif/
As I said, my girlfriend thought the same thing, as did our other housemate. Just accept that you're wrong
And there are multiple people in this thread that think you and your non-existent girlfriend are fricking creeps. In RE, when a female character dies, they make similar death rattles, and I don't see people, at least normal people, talking how they think it's sexual. Just because you're a degenerate doesn't mean the rest of us are.
>non-existent girlfriend
lmao, I'm not lying to win a Ganker argument.
more evidence its not just me, my gf, and my housemate:
"The way the Puppets moan and the parasite throbs and wiggles is just unnerving body horror."
"Why something can't be scary and sexual at the same time?"
"Those parasite things on the puppet nurses creeped me out lmao, especially the way they moan when you kill them."
from this reddit thread https://www.reddit.com/r/silenthill/comments/hcfnnd/imo_these_nurses_were_the_scariest_the_sounds/
>linking r*ddit
ofc it's a degenerate redditor getting turned on by fricking death rattle
You seem to be serious about it but I don't know what to say.
Silent Hill deliberately leaves room for interpretation so, yeah, if you think it is sexualized then it is.
all this nonsense is getting away from my actual point that game journos and the "games are art" crowd fawning over SH2 because they like the idea of the therapist town have lead to one of the worst fandoms of any game series.
>People just watch YouTube videos about the games but don't play them
no one cares about those posers they don't count
>they didn't play 1 and realise there were sexy nurses in that game as well
of so you're a fricking poser too? the nurses in 1 are not ''sexy'' you moron they are (alongside the male doctors) the staff of the hospital that turned into hideous abomination (Lisa was the only survivor)
in 2 the nurses were ''sexy'' because of the context (James and Muh sexual frustration)
in 3 the nurses weren't sexy they were kinda in the middle between 1 and 2's nurses, in 4 they definitely weren't sexy unless you have a burping fetish
then fricking Origins and they had the sexy nurses despite making no sense, why? because the fricking movie had sexy nurses too (another case of Reddit Hill 2 ripoff) then it happened again in Homecoming
>despite making no sense
They're a good enemy design, and also iconic. What's so bad about including them? Same goes for Pyramid Head
I hate Tom Hullet, greetings from Silent Hill.
the damage this scene inflicted upon SH was irreversible
PH scene did the same damage too
>teehee new fetish unlocked
>hot girls with makeup, I'm so fricked up lol
was it using the same engine as the PS2 game?
1 > 3 > 2 >>> 4 = 0 > DP > HC > SM
Wish I could put DP higher for having good ideas but it just runs too poorly. Otherwise, it'd be above 4.
replace 4 with Reddit Hill 2
>mednafen
lol stop posting this outdated shit
Duckstation exists now
If there's a new guide then you or someone else can post it, as far as I'm aware this guide still works just fine.
It's like being able to enjoy rob zombie movies and David lynch at the same time
Is homecoming really literally unplayable on pc? Should I get it on sale on xbox? I only played 1-3 so far but I want to at least try the shitty titles.
it needs some tweaking to work properly
https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Silent_Hill:_Homecoming
Yeah I know that much anon. Im just asking if it's stable enough to play through with the fixes or still hot garbage. I got an xbawks series s which I'll have to use to play downpour anyway since it's not ported to anything and I doubt it'll run well in rpcs3. And as far as I know console versions run okayish with no fuss
>I got an xbawks series s which I'll have to use to play downpour
I'm sorry to tell you, anon, but you can't buy that game digitally.
Shit you're right, I just checked. But it seems rpcs3 handles it well after all so I guess I'll just emulate it.
Thanks anon. I guess I'll grab homecoming on Xbox of I see it on sale on Ms store and if not I'll play the pc version.
i played HC on my potato PC and it was fine but in some rare cases the game can crash (happened to me twice)
oh and Downpour has been playable on RPCS3 for years now, they even fixed the visual issues
>Oh man, there's a story of this guy called the Executioner... and I bet the BUTCHER is worse than him!
Actual file in the game in the theatre level.
This further proves that nothing past the first game is canon, everything else is official fanfiction.
rare instance of fan fiction being better than the original product
Toyama is a hack and if he remained with Konami he would had ruined SH like he did with Siren with Blood Curse
>SH 3 is a direct sequel, you moron.
That was from an interview about silent hill 2, but my point still applies because the core team that was missing from silent hill 2 didn't come back for any of the sequels.
>the core team that was missing from silent hill 2
other than hack Toyama who else was missing?
it looks like silent hill
it plays like silent hill
it quacks like silent hill
yet it's not quite silent hill
the pieces are there, so what's missing?
SOUL
JAMES, YOU SHITHEAD!!!
Laura is far from being cute. No fanart can save her.
when the remake comes out it will invite tons of zoomers and bring the degenerate coomers and dicky gays with them you'll see tons of new e-girl fan art of Laura all over this board
god, I can't wait
It's not a Silent Hill game.
There are only 4 Silent Hill games.
>Gigachad face edit
are you the same gay who made that ''Homecoming is akshually good guys!'' thread?
Homecoming is my all time favourite, though the series as a whole is special to me in one way or another.
>filters fake Silent Hill fans
Everything in SH is about sexuality.
the e-girlta naming shit was and i quote from the creator's comment ''was met by a fierce opposition and was rejected''
based Team Silent BTFO pedo Toyama, no wonder he left Konami and went on to make Siren
>Dahlia is 46, younger than freaking Kaufman
is this what smoking White Claudia everyday does to you?
>Alessa is 14
wtf! i thought she was 16-20
>Alessa is 14
>wtf! i thought she was 16-20
The ritual happens when she's 7, and it's takes 7 years for her to merge back in her other half. SH3 also confirms it when Heather gets a happy birthday call and the person on the phone alludes to each Alessa form's age.
>17 for Heather
>24 for Cheryl
>31 for Alessa
Silent Hill Origins is a game I recommend every Silent Hill fan play once just because it demonstrates what a huge part the narrative plays in these games. It looks like Silent Hill, it plays like Silent Hill, it's Silent Hill almost to a T, but it falls apart due to the disjointed plot - they want to make a prequel to SH1 about Alessa while also developing this original character with his own shit going on ala SH2, and the result is neither element gets enough development to be compelling. It's like yeah, I'm playing Silent Hill, but I don't care.
>filters fake horror fans
I love Zero.
>Silent Hill Zero
more like Zero/10 lmao what a shit game
Zero was better than Origins on everything, but only the realest fans know about it
Looks like the most accurate one after the good 3 original games. I will get it on PS2.
just dont emulate it. even worse input lag than San Andreas
Best vocal track in series, btw:
>Best vocal track in series
lol even Homecoming had better vocal tracks
the only outstanding vocal song in Origins is this
All vocal tracks in the series are bangers, I just stated that Shot Down in Flames is the best one.
is this singer gonna do a vocal song in the Bloober remake?
>Do you believe Ito and Yamaoka actually have anything with development of remake?
Yes.
Then you must be naive person, or idiot, or both.
>Silent Hill fans so desperate to defend the Japanese team from any fault that they make up stories in their head and go with them
grim
there is no Silent Hill without Yamaoka besides are are you trusting Bloober to find a new composer capable of remixing the SH2 OST without fricking it up?
as for Ito that hack loser was living in a manga cafe doing nothing but browsing Twitter 24/7, his Twitter homosexualry is the only reason he is still relevant and remembered by SH fans, he knows Bloober is going to frick the remake but as long he gets that check he desperately needs he doesn't care anymore
Ito has made it clear that he hates the fact that he's only know for Pyramid head before, I doubt he has any love for the franchise, but a fat paycheck is a fat paycheck.
>he hates the fact that he's only know for Pyramid head
his Twitter profile pic is literally Pyramid Head
and did you look up the list of his works? it's so pathetic for the egoistic hack jerked off by redditors he is
he did nothing of a value since SH3, his designs for Shadows Of The Damned were rejected (lmao) and he worked on two gigantic shitty commercial and critical flops (NightCry and MG Survive)
the true question is if Joe Romersa (he filtered millions of SH gays) will make a return
>you'll never play any Silent Hill for the first time again
The unlockables are still the best outside of SH3
>plenty of secret weapons
>lots of costumes and some actually change gameplay
>some other gameplay changing unlockables like Night Vision Googles too
The other SH games past 3, including 4 and all the other murrican ones have garbage unlockables/replay value in comparison.
