Name one game that isn't Infamous.
Easy. Bioshock infinite.
Do you actually fight yourself as a boss at the end of that game? It was so shit and forgettable I can't remember.
There was no final boss to Infinite. You fought waves of previous mooks on a blimp and thats about it.
you just beat yourself from the future to death because you're an old man by that point, i dont think bioshock infinite actually has a final boss, the last fight is just a long wave of comstock's army iirc
Spend all that time trying to rescue someone only to learn that you would of been better off throwing yourself into the ocean.
That game doesn't even have a final boss.
Skyrim
real life
>real life
The final boss IRL is you from the past and all the fucking stupid choices that idiot made to fuck you over.
Deer Simulator.
Fire Embem Awakening and it makes 0 sense there
If you're REALLY me, then what color is my underwear?
>If you're REALLY me, then what color is my underwear?
lmao, trick question
>villain is supposed to be a representation of what the main protagonist could have turned into had he gone down the wrong path
>writer makes it literal and writes the villain to just be the hero from the future
>not making the villain what you could have been if you've done everything right
post uno(ONE) game
that makes no fucking sense you stupid idiot
if you from the future is the final boss, that means that you from the present LOSES because otherwise your future wouldnt exist
who writes this crap? teenagers?
>final boss is your own party members
What games do this?
Current you :
Future you :
Past you :
Just think/perform differently
LISA: The Painful
>What games do this?
Not final, but KOTOR has party members try to put you down if you go full dark side. It was the hardest fight in the game for me, because I leveled the shit out of them.
Eternal Sonata sort of,
not sure if this counts but Tales of Xillia 2 had an early "bad ending" where you cold blood kill all your party members and doom the world because bros before hoes.
You know the game anons. Now speak it:
>The final boss is a cutscene and then the credits
>final boss is 4 clones of a miniboss you've previously encountered
>final boss is a climatic duel to the death against your rival with nothing to gain except settling your grudges once and for all
>start game with memory loss
>final boss is (You) from the past
>you now remember everything
This is basically what happens in Nier 1 and it's the biggest mindfuck
also the plot to Ergo Proxy, a fairly based anime
>big bad is your son from the future
>his motivation is that he wanted to be a hero just like you
>the final boss is against a version of him from an impossible reality where you raised and cared for him
>his ultimate fate is to be permanently sealed in a time loop where he is forced to play the villain forever
>Despite this, he's happy that he was able to save you
What game?
AdventureQuest Worlds
Not that guy but it applies to The Witcher: Enhanced Edition with the exception of him being stuck in a timeloop.
>you fight the main character and his party from the previous game
>they join you
God I love Golden Sun
>you were the villain all along
>Final boss is your dad's old fanboy who beat him up on multiple occasions in his youth
>You also killed your dad twice plus his entire gang plus everyone who was inspired by him
>The old fanboy doesn't care that you're not him, he's just happy to fight the guy better than him
>His entire plan was just him pretending to be another guy, his entire life has been a ruse and he'll never be recognized as the hero he was
how would that logically work
alternate timelines
It sort of breaks on a narrative level doesn't it? You can't fight yourself from the future as the final boss because you would necessarily be in control of this future self at the end of the narrative, not the past self.
We could cop out and instead make the final boss unrecognizable as the main character and the final boss of the first game. The second or third game in the trilogy would could cover the main character's descent into his current state. Perhaps a cruel bargain taken for power? In the end he ultimately uses his powers to send himself back in time so his past self can kill him since he knows from experience his past self will succeed.
I also contemplated something breaking causality and the fourth wall. Where the main character loses to his future self in the beginning of the game, decides to become stronger, and ends up fighting another big bad at the end of the game. Then you carry your game knowledge (including exactly how final boss (you) controls) and stats into NG+ and defeat the future self instead of losing. This would trigger the "true" ending. Closing the loop, but also possibly leaving the other big bad alive. Hard to say that counts though.
>Final Boss is the party member that's been with you through all four games.
>He needs to sacrifice himself this way to save known existence.
>He's known it was going to end up this way from the start.
>Final boss is the consequences of you from the future
>major antagonist is the true version of the main protagonist
>the protagonist is just some clone that splintered off
>major antagonist opposed the true villain just like the protagonist did, for countless generations before giving into despair
>and joining the true villain because he offered something precious to him
>Final boss is the first boss who goes back in time to become the first boss then becomes the final boss who goes back in time to become the first boss then-
FF1 was weird man
>final boss was the main hero all along
>the loser of the fight is the one who gets saved
>both sides fight their hardest to save the other one
>final boss is your uncle who loves you very much and is doing it all to safeguard both your life and your sister after you father and mother passed away
>the final boss is a staged fight where it is impossible to lose
>(You) are the final boss
