    >why the frick is 4 still locked to the ps3 though?
because it's going to be part of Vol. 2

    >During my first week as a Konami employee working on Metal Gear Solid 4, I’ll never forget seeing the profound disappointment on my colleagues’ faces when they began to dig deep into the first-run PlayStation 3 development kits.
    >Like the public at large, the Kojima Productions team believed Sony’s hyperbole about its incredible next-gen hardware; however, when it came down to actually pushing pixels through the PS3, everyone was underwhelmed. The team was warned ahead of time that the hardware would be difficult to develop for, but they had no idea how bad it would end up being.

    >Despite how downtrodden my colleagues were with developing on PS3, most of them were still hardcore Sony fans and were not in favor of spending resources on such a test. They believed MGS 4 would look and run terribly on Microsoft’s older and inferior hardware.
    >One fateful day, the Konami R&D team hosted a meeting where we got to see the fruits of their labor—Metal Gear Solid 4 running beautifully and smoothly on an Xbox 360. As one of the few unabashed Xbox fans in the office, I was excited.

    >The prevailing belief around the industry was that Sony must have secured an exclusive deal for the game. It wasn’t true. Had Kojima chosen to port the game to Xbox 360, his bosses would surely have approved the decision, but he wasn’t ready to make the jump.

I think the main sticking point for the 360 port being aborted was the fact it was going to take like 6 discs or something like that.

Only because Kojima was moronic and refused to compress any of the audio for the 10 hours of cutscenes and five hours of Codecs.

I think it would've been really really bad if they did the usual Bink Video shit tier compression for all the cutscenes, compression tech got better in that generation but during that era when MGS 4 came out everyone was just using Bink shit and it was awful especially on 360 games.

No if/when 4 is remastered it will be standalone. I think vol 2 is PO/PW/Rising.

Watch it be Peace Walker, Ground Zeroes and 5

There should port Peace Walker to FOX engine. Should be pretty easy given the games modular mission structure.

It says Vol 1. so they will probably do MGS4 portable ops and peace walker next. Possible even 5.

Portable ops is non-canon. It'll be 4, PW, and V.

neither is MGS2 since it didnt happen, it was all a VR simulation

He's a free man now. He wanted to stop making MGS games after 2 but Konami kept telling him to make more MGS games. Now he can do what he wants.

substance had like 300+ vr missions and they were great. subsistence included metal gear 1&2 and a better camera

I rebought a PS3 to play the MGS games for the first time in years, threw an SSD in it as well. I'll probably sell it and wait for the PS5 ports of 1-4 and PW

thats exactly why its not getting one. remakes are about dickriding the originals popularity. thats why mgs 3 is getting a remake, and SH2 is getting remake. because theyre fan favorites.

Any chance of Revengeance getting a remaster? getting the game to run natively over 1080p is a pain in the ass. the 60 fps hardcap is pretty shit too

Do you guys think they are willing to port mgs 4 in the next volume? I mean besides figuring out the code for the game there is also a bunch of licensing shit they would have to pay for having an official iPod and other stuff in the game right?

MGS3 is also full of licensing shit like calorie mate. they can just call it something else its not that hard. Its what kojima did with death stranding with the monster energy drinks where its replaced in the directors cut.

Shit, you're right my bad I forgot. I was overthinking it in the sense that they wanted to try and preserve the re-releases as much as possible when they came out but cutting some small corners like that is fine.
