      not a thing any more
Played through the original after remake. Shit like this are only gimmicks
half the old enemies cut, no new ones added
You have a point here, but the enemies we do have are designed well and Mr. X more than makes up for it
      >Factory cut out entirely
Who...who cares? It be boring it it were step by step exactly the same
      >Bullet sponge enemies
Of course, since you can freely look around the room and aim freely. Shoot in head hope you get a crit or just kneecap run past and quit whining, I have to use stategies like this in the new one, like defending the house with luis, the enemies being bullet sponges means you cant just dispatch ever enemy, you have to think, stay on the move and be planning your next moves ahead.

        >Shit like this are only gimmicks
Wrong. And the point is that they could have, and SHOULD have expanded it further.

        >but the enemies we do have are designed well
No, they are not. And X being shoehorned to the A route and wasting player's times is just another one of the massive frickups of the demake.

        >Who...who cares?
Me and millions of other players. Double so since it WAS meant to be a greatly expanded 3rd major location during the production.
In general, anyone doing the "lol who cares!" is a falseflagging shill and a homosexual that should be offed instantly.

        >Of course, since you can freely look around the room and aim freely.
Yeah, exactly. They should've instead kept the classic stationary aiming, a la RE4, or do a proper REmake1 style remake, like all fans expected for 17 years.
It's just hilarious how Crapcum keeps "forgetting" their own design methods from the past.

        >quit whining
        Quit making shitty games, moron.
There's zero logic with a 9mm projectile first ripping off entire limbs, but doing next to nothing to a rotten human skull.

        UI
        OST
Rest of the game is oozing with atmosphere, which is why there's a lack of music outside bosses. Your suppose to take in your surroundings. The rain, zombies, Mr. X footsteps. Doors opening/closing. Too much Music would get in the way. These arent flaws their design decisions

        >Rest of the game is oozing with atmosphere
Atmosphere of dull grays and complete silence.
        >Your suppose to take in your surroundings
Which I cannot do, since the game is darker than a fricking Silent Hill game, all because modern "devs" cannot think any other way to "scare" players.

        >Too much Music would get in the way.
It does not. The game INSTANTLY improved 300% when I enabled the classic OST, which actually ADDED the brilliant 1998 music everywhere. Thank god I pirated the game, so I did not have to pay 10 bucks extra to restore some of the SOUL.

In fact the RE2R OST is my favorite OST in memory, and will only be surpassed by KCD2

      >Almost half the old enemies cut, no new ones added
Extremely disingenuous. All the cut enemies were fodder trash and most of them were recycled from RE1. For example the spiders in the sewers, they just crawled around on the ceiling and dropped acid on you, if you just ran straight forward (and why wouldn't you, it's a bunch of corridors) they would never hit you. They were replaced by the G-adults which are way more threatening and suit the area better. Another example is the moth, in RE2 for some reason there's just a random moth in a room with a computer, it barely does anything. Original RE2 in general had very sloppy enemy placement.

        >Extremely disingenuous.
        Not at all, Black person.

        >All the cut enemies were fodder trash
Spiders and crows are iconic foes of the whole franchise, and absolutely necessary. Replacing all the crawlies with the fricking G-Adult was a laziest copout I've ever seen, especially since the sewers still have a ton of webs in the ceiling.
Alpha Lickers were cool as frick, and would've amped up the challenge neatly.
The nu-Ivys being green zombies with a gimmick stolen from the Regenerators was also idiotic as hell.

        >muh OG RE2
        And there's THAT argument again.
Once again: this is meant to be a REMAKE.
Just like REm1, you are no longer limited to the PS1 restrictions, and could and SHOULD have expanded every single thing, including the foes' behavior. You could easily have multiple enemy types in a single room, and greatly expand their attack and movement patterns.

The ONLY confirmed reason why the bugs and birds were removed was because the lazy-ass GenZ devs couldn't hand-craft the models and animations themselves, being fricking Blender plebs that need to either 3D scan live things, or outsource shit to Chink 3D libraries. They also cried wolf about "muh flying / overhead enemies are too hard to aim at !!", which is just pathetic.
They literally almost axed the Crock boss for this reason as well, but they still ruined it by turning it into a 10-second Crash Bandicoot escape segment. And the classic style inventory was literally, no joke, changed to RE7 ripoff because "we couldn't get it to work in time!"

        [...]
Also Mr X was fricking annoying. You defeated him in boss battles, why’d they make him some turbo tank that just annoyingly follows you everywhere?

        >why’d they make him some turbo tank that just annoyingly follows you everywhere?
Because they needed the game to have an Amnesia / Outlast style stalker enemy to pad the otherwise short and easy as frick 3rd person shooter of theirs. It's even more embarrassing knowing that they afterwards totally ruined Nemesis, the mega-Tyrant that was meant to be all around superior BOW.

    Overall a great game.
    Main complaints would be:
    >early RE engine so the characters sometimes look weird
    >bosses aren't particularly interesting, they look cool but it's mostly just a bunch of running away and shooting with little in the way of mechanics (this was also true in classic RE 99% of the time)
    >Ada's section is kinda lame
    >lab is a lot more linear/simple than the police station and sewers
    >being able to move between rooms seamlessly is great overall but it does lead to some goofy interactions, there's no reason that zombies and Mr. X shouldn't be able to enter safe rooms for example, at least have mechanical security doors or something

The sewers. In the original the sewers was like 2 rooms but holy frick do they overstay their welcome in Remake and then they also cut the spiders and replaced them those obnoxious giant blobs. It's the reason I don't enjoy replaying the game, samey corridors everywhere and way too long, but I guess expanded sewers were cheaper to make than an expanded city map.
