You start with 0 coins everytime so have to grind coins in order to save. Not much is saved, not your lives or coins. Funky flights also cost those coins that you have to get when you start game again I believe
It's always weird when I play an old platformer and lives reset every time you load the game. I guess they did it to prevent savescumming, but in practice lives were already an outdated mechanic the moment saving your game was introduced.
They can be a problem for a rookie player if you move on to the next world with a few lives since you have to clear some stages before reaching the save point
haven't played any of the games between dkc1 and dk64
i assume they're all as bad as dkc1 where "lol just jump down the instant death pits randomly if you want to 100% (103%) the game, we put secrets there!" with more random tires floating in the air to serve as "platforming" in levels instead of any cohesive design
how far off the ball am i with this assumption
You are completely wrong. Minus the DK coins in 2 which are completely optional even for 100%, 99% of the secrets are well hidden and findable by humans
No DKC was designed like that to sell game guides, you aren’t alone in thinking they are designed like ass.
Give DKC2/3 a chance, the jump up in quality is significant
from my experience dkc3 is most viable to fully complete without guides. i'm basing this on that i did that as a kid.
decades later learned that there's some cheat code for harder difficulty level that let's you get higher completion percentage but that probably doesn't count
HRDR and TUFST, the first one removes a few DK barrels and the latter all of them. They allow you to reach 104 and 105% respectively.
I do TUFST runs every now and then and you feel the preassure in some of the levels were you need to team up for a bonus or DK Coin
Parrot Chute Panics slow ass.
>he didn't skip the parrots
>not Diddy Kong's Quest
Kong Quest a pun on the word Conquest.
coin saving system was pretty moronic. also those trivia questions
>Those trivia questions
How?
wasn't there some some portion where you had to do that in lava world? might remember wrong, it's been like 25 years or something
The trivia questions are an optional swanky minigame you can do them in every world but you just earn lives and coins
Brother the game shits coins at you so hard it's completely irrelevant, you can easily have 15-20 coins before you even get to the first save point.

Snake had a so so hitbox. Nothing you couldn’t deal with but it does cause the odd death

How far off are you from being a real woman?
i've got balls, so i'm not as close as you
You are completely wrong. Minus the DK coins in 2 which are completely optional even for 100%, 99% of the secrets are well hidden and findable by humans
oh it's good if they made it better than, maybe that explains the legacy
because dkc1 was poor, like psx 2d platformer tier trash

I beat DKC in one sitting but cant get myself to get through the second world every time I attempt to play through it
>water levels
Same answer as most 2D platformers
